A/N: I definitely recommend the song. Listen while reading for tops experience. :DDDDDD
Turrislucidus: Oh the joy I get when I see your reviews. V is definitely my primary inspiration for Deliquesce's Wonka. I admire V's badassery, and thought it would be kind of cool to make the anxious, seemingly delicate Willy into a killing machine. Then again, there is a lot underneath his surface so I wonder if it isn't to far fetched at all.. He did of course survive the dangerous jungles of Loompa Land, didn't he? He's got to have a little something up his sleeve!
Keeping low and close to the wall, I jogged, trying to push that sick feeling that was building steadily in the pit of my stomach. I heard another loud bang, followed by an explosion of gunshots. There were too many too count. An image flashed into my mind, and it was hard to imagine none of them hitting Wonka. I went cold.
I came to a door. Pistol ready, I opened it. An empty room with a stained mattress and rags strewn across the ground. Next door, another room with a person in it. I shot them before they could stand. Another room, nothing. I couldn't find anything. I ran down a road, heart beating frantically, eyes darting around for anything that would give me a clue. There were too many buildings, too many doors to check. I kept running, looking for something that would give me an indication of where they were. Every second wasted was another 5 bullets that could hit Wonka.
Think, Ember. Where would they keep them? In an ordinary room? Probably not. It'd be too risky, doors and windows can be broken down easily. They didn't have a lot of materials to reinforce regular doors. They'd need a building with metal doors or bars. Down the road, I could see a police station.
There we go.
I sprinted towards it, pistol in hand and ready to take down anyone who stood in my way. I was almost disappointed that there was no one. I wanted to feel like it wasn't Wonka versus the entire town. I wanted to fight, take some of the weight off his shoulders and put it on mine. But there was no one here.
I reached the building and flung open the door. There were two people, one with a gun. I shot him first, spun around and elbowed the other one in the face as he tried to make a grab for me. He fell to the floor and I put a leg on his chest, putting the barrel right between his green, bloodshot eyes.
"Where are they?" My voice was surprisingly calm. It scared me.
He attempted to spit at me, but since he was lying down it just fell right back onto his face.
I pressed the barrel down harder.
"They're in here. They're in the cells."
"Do you have the keys?"
"No. They're on his… his…" He broke out in a sob.
"Get them for me." I instructed, backing away a bit so that he could get up. He whined, but did as I instructed, rummaging through the other man's pockets. He passed me the set of keys.
"Will you let me go?"
I hit him with the gun, hard, and he fell to the ground unconscious.
I ran through the building until I found the cells. They were in there.
"Ember!" I heard Briley scream.
Hands shaking, I unlocked the door. Briley rushed out and hugged me. I held her tight against me, still shaking uncontrollably. She's alive.
"I'm on time." I gave a half hearted laugh.
"How did you get in?"
"Wonka helped me. He's out near the barricades, everyone is there. We need to help him."
"Well, he's already dead. I somehow don't feel very inclined to help him either way."
"I saved you, Daniel. If I hadn't decided to follow you guys at that exact moment, you would be dead by the end of today."
"That doesn't have anything to do with Wonka."
"It has everything to do with Wonka. If he hadn't decided to go on a suicide mission with me in order to save you guys, you'd still be dead by the end of today. If he asked me to stay and help him fight all those people, well, I wouldn't be here either. We're going to fucking help him, do you understand?"
"I'm coming with you." I heard Briley mumble against my chest, she was still holding tightly onto me.
One by one, every member of the group nodded and came to stand by me. I stared at Daniel.
"What he did wasn't his fault. It was a mistake, one that he tries every day to fix. You're not the best fighter, it's not like us attempting to help him is entirely dependant on you, but I don't want to abandon anyone anymore."
He sighed. "Fuck it. Let's do this."
