Sometime after Rei got home and before he finally allowed himself to sleep it hit him that he would actually be seeing Sakura face to face for the first time in five years. He was generally not one to get nervous, but he could feel his heart rate speed up as if his heart was trying to escape his chest. What exactly do you say to the person you love more than anything after not seeing them for so long? What if she was seeing someone or even worse what if the person he was sure he saw in her apartment was a lover? The more Rei's thoughts raced the more troubled he became.

Toki watched Ogami silently through the apartment window. Fortunately Rei's apartment was conveniently located on the first floor of the building. While contemplating his own feelings towards Sakura he noticed Rei's face turn white as it hit him that he would be faced with Sakura head on. The man had faced any multitude of dangerous situations, but put him in front of the person he loved and he lost all composure. Toki chuckled at this thought. He understood what Rei felt for Sakura more than he would ever admit to anyone else. More than that after witnessing her grueling training she had earned his respect. If Rei hurt her more than he already had and if Sakura became more determined to date Toki knew that he would be more than happy to volunteer for the position of her lover. He also knew that he had turned soft and would give Rei a fair chance first. Damn it all to hell.

"You look as white as your bed sheets Ogami, did you see a ghost?" Toki smirked letting his presence be known.

"Very funny Toki. What are you doing lurking outside my window like a perverted stalker?" Rei shot back. He was slightly relieved his thoughts had been interrupted, but would never admit it.

"Don't get your panties into a bunch." Toki replied hoping onto the window seal and then down into the room. "Heike sent me to brief you on Sakura's school routine and classes. You sure you going to be able to keep up with her? She's one smart cookie." Toki stated tossing a packet onto the bed. Even he had been surprised at her classes, all advanced and all with good grades. Considering how hard she worked with Eden sometimes it was a miracle she could even keep up. This only cemented his respect for her.

"Of course I will, how hard could it be?' Rei replied while opening the packet. It also contained a list of her other activities such as when she took lunch and how she went to the campus café every morning for tea. He was surprised to see that she also continued her martial arts training some evenings. When did she start doing that? Seeing her schedule made him realize that even though he watched her on all of his free time there were still things he didn't know about her.

"is that so?" Came Toki's sceptical reply. "Well do your best. Call for backup if anything happens." Toki said as he jumped back out the window and walked back into the shadows. He had the distinct feeling that Sakura was about to get quiet the shock. Honestly he didn't think she'd be pleased at the situation she was going to find herself in tomorrow morning. Heike had not felt the need to inform her that Rei was going to be thrust back into her life.

Stopping to light up a cigarette and sigh at his own stupidity. He himself had loved Sakura for as long as he could remember. Once when he had been shot on a mission with her and was sure he was going to die he had even kissed her. He could still taste the salt of her tears on her lips after she told him not to be stupid and of course she was going to save him. Yes, he would give Rei his fair chance, after all Sakura did love him. But if things didn't work out with Rei he was no longer going to hold back for Rei's sake.
