Chapter 20: Trouble in the Science Department

((Hey guyz! So... Sad news. I had most of this chapter done on my phone BUT it got stupid. I had to reset everything to the factory settings which erased the app and the document as well. And I've forgotten what was in it so I had to read the last chapter and... I just gotta say one thing. Was I on drugs, cocain, AND drunk!? I mean come on! 'You look kinda like an idiot trying to look at his back while walking on the toes of just one foot.' How the hell did I come up with that while NOT drugged out!? Whatever. I'm, hopefully, not going to get high in the middle of a sentence and just continue with the crap.))

After his meal, Jack asked Lavi where the training room was and went the way he was directed. He walked down the long and winding halls, getting very confused and hoping he wasn't lost. After a few minutes, he finally got to the training room.

As soon as Jack stepped into the training room he saw a door to his left. He opened the door and saw it was a storage closet filled with wooden dummies. Jack pulled some out of the closet and set them up. Shortly after setting them up exactly how he wanted, Jack took one of the katana's out of the closet.

He stood in position with the sword in hand as the red cross-hair appeared in the center of his eyes. Immediately he saw a red dot on different spots of every practice dummy. But only one confused him.

One of the dots was moving.

He walked towards the moving dot and saw it was a person. The person looked familiar but he never heard the mans name. The man had hardly said a thing as well. As Jack was staring at the man curiously, the man noticed him.

"What are you doing here!?" The man yelled.

"I was going to train but then I noticed you. Why were you sneaking around? And who are you?" Jack questioned him as the red dot faded away.

"It isn't my fault you can't notice anyone." The man replied with a glare.

"The only times I don't notice people are when I don't care about them." Jack glared back.

"What did you say!?" The man shouted, pointing his sword at Jack.

"I said you're useless and only hide in the shadows!" Jack shouted, pointing his sword at the man while reactivating the cross-hair in his eyes.

Once Maylu was done with his meal, he started walking around looking for his pet dragon. After ten minutes of walking around at random, he found the Science Department.

He saw people running around like crazy and carrying a stack of papers, random pieces of metal, tools, or parts for a small machine. He just kept walking and found many desks that were completely covered in paper and had 5 or more cups of coffee.

"I wonder what they're working on..." Maylu thought aloud, gaining the attention of a certain scientist.

"A lot of things. We try to help the Exorcists by repairing their weapons, making anything that would help them get stronger, or anything that would help them survive." the scientist said kindly.

"So you guys are the one's helping Allen, right?" Maylu asked.

"Yes. I'm actually one of the scientists working on the arm. I'm Reever Wenham by the way." the scientist, Reever, said kindly.

"I'm Maylu. Nice to meet you I guess. If you don't mind, can I see what you have so far for my brothers arm?" Maylu asked curiously, silently hoping he could see it almost done.

"Sure. Follow me." Reever said as he turned and started to lead the way.

Maylu followed the man through the Science Department. As they walked, everything seemed to get stranger. At first it was just the desks covered in papers, then it looked like a chemistry lab, after a while he started to get curious as he went deeper into the department.

Finally they got to the room they were looking for. Reever opened the door for Maylu, allowing him in then following him into the room.

"Right here." Reever said as he approached a large table with a mostly built prosthetic arm.

"Wow... That was fast." Maylu said as he examined the arm.

"We wanted to connect the arm while Allen was still asleep so he wouldn't feel too much pain when we connect the limb." Reever said as he watched Maylu look over the arm. "What do you think?"

Maylu stood up straight and thought to himself before commenting. "There are certain parts you would have to re adjust for easier movement but other than that it's good."

"How can you tell?" Reever asked.

"I know a few things about medicine and the human body." Maylu replied calmly.

"If you don't mind me saying, you don't seem much like a people person. So why learn medicine when you won't use it to help anyone?" Reever questioned.

"Each of my brothers and I had to take up a role in humanity to make it easier to hide from the Earl and the other Noah. We each started completely different from how we are now. I used to be a doctor who cared about every patient I had. But then there was one patient who came in who might as well have been considered dead. There was no saving him.

"Two hours after his family brought him in to my care, he died. His mother, father, and wife all blamed me. The each believed it was my fault he had died and that I was a horrible doctor. They were the ones who made me realize how disgusting most of humanity is. I burst into anger and shouted at them. I lost my job, felt I couldn't do anything, and eventually considered suicide." Maylu said as he showed his scar covered wrists.

Reever looked at him in shock. "I'm sorry you had to deal with that... But there are many people in the world who would never react like that."

"Wrong. Every human has anger. They just wait for the perfect time to release it all." Maylu said almost lifelessly before turning around and leaving.

Maylu was walking down the hall, trying to get out of the Science Department, when there was a sudden and powerful quake that felt like the building was falling to pieces.

The quake ended up opening one of the many doors in that certain hall that said 'KEEP OUT! KOMUI'S LAB!'. Maylu looked in the room and saw a massive robot with a barret the had XXV written on it. The robots eyes lit up red and it started moving slowly towards Maylu.

Maylu started to back away slowly but then sped up and started running away, quickly finding out the robot was chasing him. He looked behind him as he ran and attempted to blow up the machine but failed.

"The hell is this thing!? And why is it after me!?" Maylu shouted as he ran from it.

"Maylu?!" A familiar voice shouted in curiosity as said person ran towards him.

"Dante! Help me!" Maylu shouted.

"Why not just destroy it?" Dante questioned.

"I already tried!"

"Did it do anything?" Jerediah asked.

"DOES IT LOOK DESTROYED OR EVEN SCRATCHED!?" Maylu shouted furiously.

"Why not just destroy the floor under it?" Dante questioned.

Right after Dante asked, Maylu destroyed a part of the floor big enough the the robot would fall through. Right as Maylu felt it was going to fall in, the robot jumped and landed on the other side of the hole.

"THE HELL!?" Maylu shouted as he kept running.

"What did you do!?" The person next to Dante and Jerediah shouted

"I did nothing!" Maylu shouted back.

"Well you must have done something to get Koumlin XXV angry!" The man shouted.

"I was in a hall, the building shook, the door opened, and the thing attacked me! I DID NOTHING!" Maylu shouted.

"Hm..." the man sounded as he started to think. "Oh well." The man shrugged.

Maylu kept running until he was in the halls of the Black Order. Quickly he ran into Jack and a man with a pony-tail and sword.

"Jack! Help me!" Maylu shouted.

Jack activated the cross-hairs and found the weakness of the machine called Koumlin XXV. "Hit it's neck!" Jack shouted.

"I can't! I've tried destroying it and it doesn't work!" Maylu replied.

"You're both useless." The swordsman said as he stepped foreword and unsheathed his sword. "Mugen. Activate!" He shouted as he slashed at the robot, almost hitting Maylu.

When the robots head fell off and the body collapsed, the swordsman sheathed his sword.

"The hell was that!?" Both Maylu and Jack shouted.

"You almost killed me!"Maylu shouted.

"So?" the man questioned without a care.

As Maylu was about to attack the swordsman, Dante came running around the corner, stopping his brother.

"My Koumlin XXV! Who did this!?" The man from before shouted.

Maylu and Jack looked at each other then pointed at the swordsman. "He did it!"

"Kanda!? Why!?" the man shouted.

"Because I hate you're stupid Koumlins Komui! They only cause more trouble!" the swordsman, now deemed Kanda, argued.

As the swordsman, scientists, and Komui argued, Dante and Jerediah went to check on Maylu.

"Are you okay, May-chan?" Jerediah asked.

"Yeah... a little tired though..." Maylu said, ignoring the nickname.

"That's good." Dante said.

"There's even better news though." Maylu said with somewhat of a smile.

"What is it?" Dante asked.

"Allen's arm is almost finished." Maylu said, his smile growing more.

"Really!?" Jack questioned excitedly and got a nod as a response. "Awesome!" Jack shouted.

((And that's it! So I've been really busy lately. Trying to fix my phone, my mom getting a surgery, school, homework {a shit load of it too}, and marching band for three hours on Thursdays. All this leaving me tired as hell. But luckily I had some time to make this. Not enough time to do an omake though. Sorry for taking four months to update as well. Hopefully I have more time soon. I'm also planning on making a fanfic for Katekyo Hitman Reborn since I've been addicted to it recently. Anyways keep reading, reviewing, following, and favoriting. See ya! c(X ))
