3rd Circle -Thief
The night shift was over, but Stephan was still sitting behind his desk. Usually he would rush to his bedroom with some pretzel and hot coffee in his hand, but this morning he couldn´t leave. He couldn´t leave without knowing that someone took care of that beautiful girl he arrested for public offense last night. He fixated his eyes on the door, he tried not to blink not to miss a second. He was so sick of waiting, he stood up took the cell keys across of the desk and walked towards the cell block. As he watched the girl in the beautiful yellow dress with a sweet white headband he noticed she was powered out. He approached the cell door and noticed her eyes on him.
Stephan: Are you okay?
Mandy: Yes. And who are you?
Stephan: Stephan Mitchell, the officer who arrested you.
Mandy: Ohh that was you. Didn´t recognized you without your uniform. Thanks for the arrest.
Stephan: Yeah I´m sorry for that but I arrested you for your own good. You could barely walk and trashed my cars window.
Mandy: Oh ! A 5,6 feet tall girl attacked you, poor little Officer. No wonder you are a policeman.
Stephan: Wait a minute. Don´t be rude. I just wanted to . . .
The entrance door of the cell block opened and interrupt Stephan. Stephan witnessed the new young officer ,who´s names he couldn´t recall at the moment, enter the block.
Officer: Cell number 5 you´re bailed out.
Stephan opened the cell. Mandy abruptly walked pass Stephan and exited the cell block. Standing in front of her Adenah.
Mandy: You?
Adenah: Yes me. No one else cared enough to come and get you. And I called everyone you know.
Mandy: Not even Michael.
Adenah: He didn´t answer his phone the whole night. Come on. I need a coffee.
Stephan: If you want I can give you a ride.
Mandy: No no. Adenah will drive us.
Adenah: I walked here.
Mandy: What?
Adenah: I was chasing you all night and this is the last station on my route.
Mandy: Either way no thank you officer. We will walk or take a cab. Bye.
Adenah: Bye. (whispering to Mandy)I'm not surprised you let him arrest you.
Mandy: Shut up. Let's go.
Stephan watched the two beautiful young girls walk away still not knowing why he waited at all. He put the cells keys on their place and walked out of the station.
4 Days Later
Pier loved the morning classes. While everyone was rushing to get a cup of coffee he just wanted to do something. Be busy be great right from the start. And this morning was special his first lab class in Chem 101. He found his work place and waited for the class to start, of course he still had 10 minutes before the class started. He remembered how he left Frank sleep in his bad and thought about what a sincere connection he established with his first roommate. After a shaky start and some killing attempts the 2 of them really connected. Suddenly he heard someone say his name and he reflexly looked towards the class entrance and saw a short, dark tanned, brown haired female student stand at the entrance. As she noticed him she smiled and tried to turn around but realized it's to late. She slowly stepped into the classroom and started to look around for her work place to sit down.
Carla: Nepier.
She stuttered again. Pier looked up again and caught her sight.
Pier: Why are you saying my name again?
Carla: You are Nepier?
Pier: Call me Pier, please.
Carla: I'm your lab partner Carla. Carla Mirables. Nice to meet you.
Pier: Like wise.
Carla: I so ashamed. I read your name and had a hard time remembering it, so I repeated it to me the whole morning.
Pier: As I said call me Pier.
Carla: Why? I love the name it's really special. Somehow magical I would say.
Pier: Thank you. Sit down make yourself comfortable. So where are you from? I'm from New Fable here in Illinois.
Carla: My parents lived here in Chicago, but they moved back to Mexico last month.
Pier: Oh nice. So you have Mexican roots. Interesting.
Carla: Yes. We Mexicans are spiritual people all about energy. Ohh I have to go to the bathroom. Seen you in a minute.
It just passed noon and Adenah as walking down towards Mandy's apartment, while talking on her phone.
Adenah: What´s wrong Pier?
Adenah yelled easily at her BFF over her phone.
Pier: Nothing Ade. But explain me since when do you like spending time with Mandy?
Adenah: Since 4 days ago when she got drugged on her own party and you and Frank shunt her out.
Pier: You think I shouldn´t be mad?
Adenah: No you can feel whatever you want but I made bigger mistakes and you stood by my side.
Pier: Yeah, but I never had a crush on you.
Adenah: True. How was Chem class?
Pier: Great. Just my lab partner is quite weird. Carla, from Mehico.
Adenah: Ohhh a Latina. I believe I heard about that girl. She dresses funny, isn't she?
Pier: Yes. Long bright skirts and a really weird top. What do you mean by you heard about her?
Adenah: I arrieved here at her building. Talk to you later.
Adenah ended the conversation and stopped at the entrance of Mandy´s building. She smiled as she saw Laya cross the street.
Laya: Hi friend. Are you ready to cheer Mandy up?
Adenah: Hi. Honestly I´m tired of doing so. We should stop playing the nice game and move her ass out off the apartment. She didn´t entered a sorority there are bigger things in life.
Laya: Yeah I know, but I feel guilty for letting Mira do that to her. I´m not a fan of Mira and I would never let her into the sorority but she knows the right people.
Adenah: But you know we only have Sympathy for the Devil. Mandy isn´t a cupcake at all.
Laya: I'm sure she isn't but come on call her I can't stand Michael's lazy attempts to hit on me.
Adenah : Okay! Here we go!
The ring tone on Mandy's phone interrupted Michael while playing a game on his PS3. He picked up her phone and read off Adenah's name.
Michael: Mandy the Lesbian witch is calling you again.
Mandy: Don't be an ass Michael. She is a good friend and give me my phone.
Michael: Here you go sis. Say hello to Laya from me.
Mandy: Not even if you would pay me.
Mandy took the phone from her brother's hand. And swyped over her touch screen phone and answered the call.
Mandy: Hey Ade! Where are you?
Adenah: I'm in front of your building with Laya will you come down? We are waiting for you.
Mandy: You won't come up?
Adenah: No we are to lazy. Come up we are in need for coffee.
Mandy: Okay just give me a second I'll rush down.
Mandy put her phone in her bag and rushed to the the exit door.
Mandy: See you Bro.
Michael: Bye jail bird.
The door closed loudly. Michael didn't know what to do. He hadn't classes til tomorrow. He took his phone and looked up number. He stopped by New Guy and dialed. He hated to wait till someone answers his call.
Frank: Hello.
Michael: Hi Frank it's Mike. I wanted to see if you want to come over and hang out a bit. I know we went up to a bad start but I think we should straighten things out. I mean if you want to.
Frank: I was sleeping, maybe I come by later.
Frank ended the call.
Frank: A witch doesn't have time to cast a simple spell.
He blow out the candles surrounding him and hid them into one of his drawer. He started undressing his pijamas and went entered the bathroom.
Adenah and Mandy were sitting in the park with a cup of coffee and watched people rushing by them.
Mandy: Thank you for being this nice to me. You spent the whole day with me.
Adenah: Why are you still thanking me? Mira drugged you and you went on a loop, it's perfectly normal. The others are just a bit overreacting, considering with whom we hang out that is completely normal.
Mandy: Yeah right. I still can't believe Mira did that to me.
Adenah: So how will you proceed with your revenge. Will you go Emily Thorne on her? If you want we can turn you into Emily Thorne?
Mandy: No. Not for now at least.
Suddenly Adenah's facial expression changed.
Mandy: What's going on?
Adenah: Don't look to your left Dijana is coming along.
Mandy: Ohh no.
Adenah: Ohh no!
Mandy: What's going on? You can't say "ohh no" when I'm the one saying it.
Adenah: She is heading towards us. Directly towards us. Stay calm please.
Dijana: Hey Adenah. How are you? Ohh no you.
Dijana realized Mandy was the girl sitting next to Adenah.
Dijana: Sorry Adenah I'm off. Didn't realized you were sitting with this one.
Mandy: Dijana please don't go. I have to speak to you.
Dijana: I really don't want to.
Adenah: Dijana calm down, she has to talk to you. You should hear her out. Ohh no.
Mandy: What's wrong now?
Mandy and Dijana turned around and realized Pier was jogging towards them. He eyed on the girls and stopped. He started walking towards them. A sudden smile appeared on his face.
Dijana: This is just weird. I'm off.
Dijana started walking towards the other exit. As Pier saw this happening he started running again. He ran after Dijana, he ran pass the girls not even looking at them.
Mandy: Pier wait!
Pier: Not now Mandy.
Pier caught up with Dijana and stud in front of her.
Pier: You are really running away from me?
Dijana: You are really running after me? Aren't you getting tired of it?
Pier: Really you are taking the mean girl approach.
Dijana: I'm not mean, just realistic.
Pier: I really like you and want to be with you. But you can't run every time we have a fight.
Dijana: I'm walking and I would be happy if you would just let me go.
Pier: Okay if this is really what you want. I won't even speak to you. But let me just . . .
Dijana: What?
Pier pulled Dijana by her jacket pulling her on 3 inches away. He looked into her eyes. She couldn't stand his eyes on her face so she looked away. He took her head by her chin and forced her to look at him. She enjoyed his touch but she wouldn't show it to him.
Dijana: What do you want?
Pier: Just to kiss you one more time.
Pier put his lips on hers and after resisting at first Dijana engaged into a deep kiss. She pulled away from him.
Dijana: Enough.
Pier: Don't pretend! Don't make this painful when it shouldn't be at all. I would told you eventually about my first but we didn't even had our first time.
Dijana: Okay your right. Let's meet up later. When . . .
The ringing sound of Pier's phone interrupted Dijana. Pier took out his phone from his baggy sweatshirt. He looked at his phone and saw Carla was calling him.
Dijana: Who is it?
Pier: Just a friend.
Dijana: What friend?
Pier: Carla, my new. . .
Dijana: Girlfriend. Nice.
Pier: No. Just a girl who is my friend not my girlfriend. She is my. . .
Dijana: Okay. I won't be angry. We'll meet later and talk. Call me.
Pier: Deal.
Dijana walked slowly away. Pier looked this gracefully girl walk away and realized that he cares more than he earlier imagined. The vibration of his phone triggered him from his thoughts.
Pier: Hey Carla. What's the issue?
Carla: Everything is okay but we need to talk.
Pier: About what?
Carla: About you being a witch.
Silence filled the air between the people behind the cell phones. Pier was shocked but he knew he had to snap out of it.
Pier: What are you talking about? You're silly
Carla: Come visit me tonight around 7 pm. . I'll text you my adresse. Bye!
Pier was stunned, he was surprised that Carla so easily found out his secret. Was she the one who rescued him during the party.
Ade was watching Michael practice while she was waiting for Mandy to get ready. She was impressed how hard he was trying to work out this magic thing. She looked at the potion he tried to prepare and was stunned he was aiming for such strong things. A gold maker potion the ingredients were pretty weird, she didn't even know where she could find these things.
Adenah: How does your potion progress? Seems like you have a lot of fun.
Michael: It's going strong. I believe this will be it. I could use some help if you don't mind.
Adenah: Yes I do mind. I'm to well dressed to pick up on those senses.
Michael: You're clearly spending to much time with Mandy. I just need you to cast the spell with me. Frank should've helped me but he had to go. Pier needed him to change his diapers.
Adenah: Funny. But since when are you and Frank hanging out?
Michael: Since he is the only one who wants to practice with me.
Adenah: Poor Michael, no one wants to make the Rich boy Golden boy.
Michael: Didn't thought that you would be the one with prejudice towards anyone.
Adenah: You don't wanna go there so let's just cast the spell.
Michael: As you wish. So just read the spell with me.
Michael and Adenah: Fluid drawn from these plants, to gold convert you are blessed by our chants.
The potion continued to boil but there was nothing special happening.
Adenah: And now?
Michael: And now we turn something into gold.
Michael took the boiling bowl and poured the liquid into the plate on the counter. The liquid was abruptly absorbed by the plate but nothing happened.
Adenah: Should we be surprised it didn't work?
Michael: Honestly no, but let's be for the sake of encouraging me.
Adenah: Okay. So we won't. Mandy are you ready!?
Mandy opened the bathroom door and peered out a bit.
Mandy: Just a minute.
Adenah: We are going out for a drink nothing more. Don't over dress.
Michael: Yeah, right. She would rather stop breathing than not dress well.
Adenah: Come on Mandy!
Michael: If you give me a minute I could tag along.
Adenah: Ohh no it's Ladies night.
Michael: Isn't it always with you?
Adenah: Probably yes.
Michael: So I can come with you.
Adenah: No you can clean up this mess up and call a girl to keep you entertained.
Michael didn't know what to say. He could just witness him staying one more night alone in the apartment. He tried to play it cool and went for his phone to call someone.
Mandy: I'm ready Ade. Let's go. Bye Mike.
Adenah: Bye.
Michael: Yeah bye.
Frank: I really can't believe you are dragging me along, Pier.
Frank was not happy that he had to follow his roommate to meet his psycho lab partner. He had bigger issues on his mind.
Pier: Don't be such a neg. The hell knows who this girl is, for all we know she could be possessed by a demon or something.
Frank: Have you ever met a demon?
Pier: No!
Frank: Obviously you didn't.
Pier: I really don't know how she knows that I'm a witch?
Frank: Maybe she is just a psychic?
Pier: Possible. That's the adresse. Let's go.
Pier opened the door of the huge building and let Frank enter it first. He followed him and closed it.
Frank: So what's the plan? Do we have a plan at all?
Pier: Yes of course we have! I go in talk a bit to check out what she has in mind and if it gets nasty you interfere.
Frank: Nice plan. But how should I know when it's get nasty.
Pier: Hmmm. I of course I prepared a spell for this.
Frank: What spell?
Pier: Just a simple one I need just something from you .
Frank: What?
Pier: Ear hair?
With a quick move of his hand Pier pulled out a litle ear from Frank.
Frank: What the hell?
Pier: Don't be a wus! Just put your hand over mine and repeat.
Frank: Are you sure this is going to work?
Pier: Of course it will. How do you think Ade passed physics in High school? Repeat after me. Transmit the voice to it's owner, make him hear louder the words around this loner.
Frank and Pier started to chant and after repeating the spell a couple of times the ear hair glowed up. Pier took the hair and put it into his ear.
Pier: I hope you washed your ears this morning.
Frank: Gross.
Pier: So I'll go, you wait here.
Frank: Hurry up please.
Pier went up the stairs. According to the text Carla send she lives on the first floor. He rapidly reached the first floor, as he stud in front Carla's apartment door he took a deep breathe and knocked.
Carla: Come in!
Pier easily opened the door and witnessed Carla standing in the kitchen across the room.
Carla: Come on. Don't be shy.
Pier: Hi! I don't have much time. I have a date, so please tell me on what medications are you?
Carla: None for now. Why do you ask?
Pier: Who in his right mind believes in Witches?
Carla: Don't play naïve with me Nepier. Please sit let's talk.
Pier approached the sofa and calmly set down . He tried to look relaxed, like nothing was wrong. But he knew he was bad at hiding secrets in front of people who knew the truth or at least a part of it.
Pier: So what's your deal?
Carla: What do you mean? I know you are a witch, cause I'm one as well.
Pier: What?
Carla: I'm a Celestial witch, my family practice magic with the power of supernatural spirits.
Pier: Okay. I'm glad for you. But I'm not a witch.
Carla took a deep breath. She looked around the room and took one more breath.
Pier: So if you don't have anything to tell me or proof me, I just just head out. You don't have to see me off.
Pier got up and walked towards the door. He suddenly felt a pinch behind his neck.
Pier: What the hell?
Pier turned around and saw a knife levitating in front of his face. Carla was standing around 10 feet away, with her arm controlling the knife.
Pier: What the hell?
Carla: I won't play nice anymore.
Pier: Neither will I.
Pier's facial expression switched and he focused on Carla. He fist pumped and created a force field around Carla, so she fall on her knees. As Carla fall her knife followed . Pier picked up the knife and rushed to Carla. He pushed her on her back and stuck the knife to her neck. Suddenly the entrance door opened, Pier turned and saw Frank at the doorstep.
Frank: Come on Pier.
Pier: Why?
Frank: Let's go, she will over power you. There are to many spirits here. Hurry.
Pier: Okay.
Pier throw the knife away and rushed out of the apartment.
Mandy was waiting a couple steps away from the street shop were Adenah was buying bubble gums. She watched the tomboyish girl purchase some things. She noticed how grown up Ade got. The 2 of them were never best friends but Mandy cherished everything Adenah was doing these days for her. As Adenah approached Mandy started smiling.
Mandy: What a beautiful night!
Adenah: Yes. I'm really starting to dig this town.
Mandy: Come on there is an empty bench in the park, my legs are killing me.
Adenah: I told you not to wear them.
Mandy: Why are you so defensive always?
Adenah: Defensive?
Mandy: Yes defensive. You always want to be right so no one could talk to you. I don't even want to argue and you're already there to proof your point.
Adenah: Hmmm. Am I that neurotic?
Mandy just nodded and put a smile on her face.
Mandy: Realization is the first step towards recovery.
Adenah: Yeah right. So did you tell you mother you won't get into Alfa Pi?
Mandy: No. Of course not. I will wait for the admission to pass this week so she can't pull her strings and put me in anyway. What the hell?
Adenah: What's wrong Mandy?
Mandy: Is that guy attacking that women?
Adenah turned her head and realized a women fight a young man in a black hoddy.
Adenah: Come on! We need to help her!
Adenah started to run towards the women while Mandy tried to follow in her heels. Adenah started screaming what surprised the attacker. He wrestled out the woman's bag and started running into the park. Adenah followed him.
Mandy: Ade wait, it's to dangerous.
Adenah: Stay with the woman, call the police I will catch the guy.
Adenah ran as fast as she could. She realized she wasn't fast enough, so she looked around herself and realized no one was near. She made a move with her hand causing the attacker to trip. As his face kissed the ground the bag fall out of his hand. Adenah bent down to pick up the bag but suddenly she got tackled down. The attacker hold her hand making her unable to move, suddenly he spoke.
Attacker: Saga non moveri non potest
Adenah was stunned. She couldn't move her limbs, only her eyes were able to move. She looked into the attackers face, trying to move him from her body. Her magic wouldn't work. She started to panic but her body just lying calm, she wanted to scream but her lips wouldn't move. She looked into her attackers face his eyes were glowing red. Out of now where a odd sign appeared on his forehead. It was some kind of insect. She didn't realized which one but it was oddly familiar to her. Then suddenly the attacker was pushed of her. She looked right and noticed Mitchell standing over her while Laya was running in the behind towards her.
Mitchell: Are you okay? Are you hurt?
Adenah didn't know if she could respond. She was afraid to move her lips.
Laya: Adenah are you okay!?
Laya came down to her knees holding Adenah's hand.
Adenah: I'm fine. Where is he?
Laya: He is laying there, Mitchell kicked him off of you. Can you get up!?
Adenah: I think I can.
Adenah got up with the help of Laya and Mitchell, suddenly Mitchell let her go.
Mitchell: Ohh no you want get away with this!
Mitchell started to run after the attacker who tried to escape.
Laya: Mitchell be careful. Let's go Ade. Mandy is worried sick.
Adenah: Wait. Take the beg. The idiot wanted to steal it from the poor women.
Laya approached the beg and picked it of the ground. She returned to Adenah, took her hand and started to walk with her out of the park.
Mandy was searching for a tissue in her bag while the woman by her side was cleaning out her knee wound with water.
Mandy: Here you go.
Woman: Thank you! You're very kind. Oh see the police finally came.
Mandy: Great.
Mandy followed the moving police car with her eyes, while it was slowly approaching them. The car stopped and the police officer approached her.
Stephen: Good evening, you called the police?
Stephen looked down on the two women and realized the beautiful girl from saturday night was right in front of him.
Stephen: Mandy! Are you okay?
Mandy: Oh it's you. Yes I'm fine. This woman was attacked by someone moron. My friends went after him trying to stop them.
Stephen: All right. Are you okay ma'am?
Woman: I'm fine as well. Only my knee hurts.
Stephen: Can you walk?
Woman: I think I can.
Stephen: Okay I will look for your friends and if the thief is anywhere near and than I will drive you to a hospital and take your statement ma'am.
Woman: Okay.
Stephen: Here Mandy. Take my keys and walk the Miss to the car. Sit her down on the passenger seat.
As Stephen walked away, Mandy noticed how great he was looking. He was such a nice guy. A shame I attacked him the other night as she thought as she walked with the woman towards the police car. She put the woman into the car and witnessed Frank and Pier coming her way. She wanted to hide but both of them already noticed her moving around the car.
Frank: Mandy what the hell happened? Why are you putting this women into the police car?
Mandy: Yes. This woman got mugged and Ade and I helped her.
Pier: Where is Ade?
Mandy: She went after the attacker. The policeman went after her.
Frank: Why didn't you follow Ade?
Mandy: I couldn't run in my heels and the woman needed help. And we all know Ade can take car of herself.
Frank: Either way we should check out where she is?
Mandy: She is fine. Laya and Mitchell followed her. And Stephen went after her.
Pier: Who is Stephen?
Mandy: The policeman who arrested me. And why all of the sudden are you talking to me?
Frank: Mandy don't be that way! We care for you no matter what.
Mandy: You care, I didn't hear neither ask me how am I?
Silence filled up the air. A smile crossed Frank's face.
Frank: They are coming. Ade doesn't seem okay.
The 3 of them approached them. Mandy noticed Adenah was worried, Stephen gave her his jacket and walked by her side, while Laya and Mitchell were walking two steps behind them.
Pier: Ade is everything okay?
Adenah: Yes now it is. Thank you officer for the jacket.
Stephen: Nothing to thank for. So I see you tomorrow in the station so we make a photorobot of the attacker.
Adenah: Yes I will come by. Mitchell, Laya thank you as well. He would've killed me if you weren't there to help me.
Mandy: So where is the attacker?
Mitchell: I followed him to a graveyard but than lost track of him.
Laya: Are you going back to the dorm Ade? I can walk with you.
Stephen: I can give you a ride? I'm passing by the female dorm on my way from the station.
Adenah: No, I said Mandy I will sleep at hers tonight. So the officer can take you 2 to the dorm. We will take a walk.
Frank: Are you sure?
Adenah: YES! I need to spend some time with familiar faces and just walk it of.
Laya: Okay. I'll call you tomorrow. Bye!
Mitchell: Bye.
The group of witches watched the police car drive away. Pier, Frank and Mandy gathered around Adenah.
Adenah: Come on let's hurry to the apartment. Witch buisness awaiting.
As soon as he got the text that Adenah was attacked by something Michael started to look through his Zealender book for an insect sign. He knew he looked for no reason cause he read the book more than 100 times. But the Corbs family book, he went over it a couple of times but wasn't sure if it contains anything about Insects on human foreheads. He heard the door unlocking and rushed to th front door.
Mandy: Hey Mike. Did you find anything?
Michael: Hello to you too. No. In the Zealander book there is nothing, I just started to work over the Corbs book.
Mandy: No it doesn't contain anything. I'm sure.
Adenah: So what the hell was it than.
The Circle gathered in the living room and set down.
Michael: So explain me what happened. Detailed.
Dijana was taking a walk on the campus. She was sick of waiting for Pier to call her to meet up. Suddenly she noticed a guy in a black huddy following her. She was searching for people around her. Usually she wasn't afraid of attackers she learned in time to defend herself long time ago, but she was full of insecurity. She was so full of self doubt she couldn't even recognize herself. Since the moment she started dating Pier she changed. He was such a perfect guy, nerdy handsome, smart self confident she thought less of her cause he was being so great. She knew it was wrong but she couldn't help herself. She decided to change her course of walking and turned around just to realize the guy in the hoody was just a step away.
Dijana: What are you looking at?
Marin: At my very beautiful sister.
Dijana: Marin?
Marin: Do you have an other brother?
Dijana: Sadly no. What do you want form me? I told you to leave me alone.
Marin: Don't be rude. I just want to hang I missed you. Mom and Dad told me you're not returning their calls either.
Dijana: Marin I don't want to talk to any of you. I cut my wings from you.
Marin: Ohh it's easy for you to life of your boyfriends money. If you hadn't the money you would call them every day.
Dijana: Mister Drop Out is the one to speak about. So why don't you just leave me alone.
Marin: Cause I need your help to fight the withes.
Dijana: You again with this crap. Just leave me alone.
Dijana turned around and started walking away from her brother. Suddenly she felt a hard hit into her back. The force of the hit made her fall down. She turned her head to see who attacked her just to realize it was her brother.
Dijana: What the hell Marin?
Marin: It's for your own good.
Marin took a swype and hit his sister again. As Dijana fainted , Marin took her up on his shoulder and started caring her away.
Frank: I believe it was a Scarabi demon!
Frank shouted out.
Frank: There are different types of possessing demons. There are snakes, worms, insects and other animals. And depending on which demon it is they are stronger or weaker. Snake demons can only control people. Scarabi demons can use magic while possessing someone.
Pier: Okay and how we get rid of it?
Frank: We need to force him out of the body and than put it on fire.
Mandy: Just that. Sounds pretty simple.
Adenah: I say let's work out a strategy and go hunt it tomorrow night.
Michael: Why would we wait it can attack someone else?
Frank: Cause to extract the demon we need a lot of energy. In the process we can even kill the human host and even if we get a chance to extract it can posses any of us right away.
Pier: What? Why?
Frank: The demon connects to the host and can kill it if necessary. The safest way would be to drown both the demon and host. But I'm not ready to become a killer. You?
Silence filled up the room. The circle member were starring into each others blank faces.
Pier: Like we don't have enough problems.
Adenah: What do you mean Pier?
Pier: Today I got semi-attacked by my witchy lab partner.
Michael: Witchy Lab partner? Semi attacked? What the hell?
Pier: She attacked me in order to proof me her powers. So I felt threatened and used my powers as wll on her.
Mandy: What are you insane? Does she know about us? Who is she?
Pier: Her name is Carla Mirables, she told me she is a Celestial witch. I doubt she knows about you. She saw Frank and that is it.
Mandy: That name sounds familiar! I know her, she pledged for Alfa Pi as well. She attended the party on Saturday.
Adenah: Celestial witch? She uses ghosts to conduct magic?
Frank: Something like that. Celestial witches are pretty powerful. Especially when they live in big cities like Chicago. They can connect to evil powerful spirits and boost their energy.
Michael: Okay enough magic lessons let's go to bed now. You can all crash here. And tomorrow we make a plan how to get rid of all these problems.
Dijana felt a numb pain on her left shoulder, the pain was so strong that she woke up. She didn't recall when she went to bed and where did she fall asleep. She looked around and realized she was in her dorm room, but in the wrong bed. She looked over to her bed and witnessed it's empty. She looked around the room searching for the wall clock but she was disoriented and needed a couple of seconds to find the clock. 7am. It's morning. Who brought her to the dorm room? She remembered, Marin knocked her out. Dijana started to search for her cell she couldn't believe what she saw. 10 missed calls and 3 messages from Pier. She got out of the bed and started to undress. The pain in her left shoulder was still there and progressed down her arm with every move she made. Suddenly she heard the door unlock. She took the first thing from her closet to cover her naked torso. The door opened and she witnessed her roommate get into the room.
Dijana: Oh it's you.
Sarah: Yes, who else.
Dijana; Sorry I slept in your bed but . . .
Sarah: You were drunk as shit. I get it don't worry.
Dijana: Yeah okay. Thank you for being so understanding.
Dijana couldn't believe what conversation she was witnessing. She drunk, that happened for sure.
Sarah: Oh and I have to say great Tatoo. I don't understand it but it looks really nice.
Dijana: What are you talking about? What tatoo?
Sarah: That one on your left shoulder. Which language is it?
Dijana rushed to the bathroom and looked into the mirror. She was stunned when she saw her family symbol graved into her left shoulder.
Dijana: I'm gonna kill you Marin!
Pier was exhausted. He barely slept during the night. He couldn't stop thinking about Carla, Scarabi demons and on top of everything Dijana ignored his calls again. All these problems mad him loose his morning Mo-jo, he wasn't cheerful, he wasn't himself. He entered the classroom, he looked for a familiar face, someone who wasn't involved in all this mess. But no, he couldn't pretend to be normal this morning he just looked for an empty space isolated from everyone. As he sit down he saw Carla enter the classroom. Without hesitation she approached him.
Pier: What do you want?
Carla: Hello to you to. I just want to talk. No powers used.
Pier: Somehow I doubt that.
Carla: Nepier believe me. I practice white magic, I don't use magic to harm anyone. Give me just a chance to explain everything.
Pier: No. You saw how that happened yesterday.
Carla: Nepier look at me. If you really believe I'm an evil witch you don't have to talk to me. But look into my eyes and say it to me.
Pier finally gave Carla the honor and looked into at her. He didn't get a bad vibe from her, he believed her-
Pier: Okay. Where do you wanna meet?
Carla: 3pm. Saint Luca avenue. Cafe Saga. You will love the place.
Frank ran up the stairs of Mandy's and Michael's building. He went to his dorm room to pick up Nepiers book of shadows so he and Michael can prepare some potions for the Scarabi demon. He didn't like spending time with Michael. He always felt he was some agenda of his own and that he could easily betray the circle if he benefits from it. He reached the 3rd floor quite fast and approached the entrance to the dorm. He couldn't grip the doorknob, so he decided to open the door with a spell.
Frank: Lock Unlock.
He watched the door in front of him open slowly. As he looked up he saw a vase levitating in front of his head.
Frank: What the hell?
With a move of his hand he clashed the vase to the kitchen wall. He looked around the room and saw Mandy standing in a towel in the other corner of the room, hiding behind a Sofa.
Mandy: Sorry for that. I was afraid as I heard someone enter the apartment and Mike is taking a nap currently.
Frank: It's okay. I'm sorry to bust in. My hands were busy so I used a spell to enter the apartment.
Frank blushed. He looked away and moved towards the kitchen counter to let the bags down.
Mandy: I go dress my self. If you need something just ask.
Frank: Okay!
Frank glimpsed after Mandy. He was impressed how good Mandy was looking. He remembered the party and Mandy liying on the bed flirting with him. He wanted her to be with her, but his attraction towards Adenah prevented him to look or even talk to any other girl.
Michael: You came?
Frank: Yes. Sorry if I woke you up.
Michael: No it's okay. It's time to work some spells. I need to get to your level cause you are wicked.
Frank: Thanks. I it is just a matter of focus and knowing how to ray your magic. I'll give you lessons later, but let's focus on the extraction spell first.
Pier was as usually right on time. He waited for Carla in front of the cafe. He didn't like the neighborhood where they were meeting, it was pretty dark and lacked of intimacy. As he was afraid it was a trap he decided to check the place out before Carla came to meet up. Pier entered the cafe and followed the sign indicating the cafe's main station was in the underground. He reached the entrance and tried to open the door, but they were locked. Pier knocked on the door but no body answered. He was prepared for this situation, he assumed Carla set him a trap. With a move of his hand he unlocked the door and made a wild entrance. As he entered he could suddenly hear music in the pretty filled cafe.
Pier: A sound spell. Nice.
Carla: Yes it really is.
Pier turned to his left and saw Carla sitting in a both. Pier smiled. He was impressed by the caffe.
Pier: Where did you brought me?
Carla: This a cafe where believers gather.
Pier: Believers ?
Carla: Believers of the supernatural.
Pier: So they don't practice?
Carla: Not really. Some of they try, some succeed some don't but they are low life spells. Nothing to get upset about. They aren't real witches like you or me. So your circle isn't bound?
Pier: How do you know about my circle?
Carla: My parents knew your mother. They went to college together. Later they got to know your father as well. And practiced a bit. I mean your Mom wasn't magical but she understood it well.
Pier: How should I know if your telling me the truth?
Carla: By just trusting me.
Pier: I usually get screwed over when I trust people. But I can't help myself and believe you. I need to ask you something. Were you the witch who rescued me last Saturday on Mandy's party?
Carla: No. I was hooking up with a frat boy and left just after Mandy's speech.
Pier: Okay. But tell me more about your magic, how does that spirit thing work?
Adenah was rushing to the female dorm so she could change her clothes and rush to the apartment and help the other circle members. She barely survived her Economic classes. She was still tormented by yesterdays attack. She just entered the dorm and there she saw Laya and Mitchell lip locking.
Adenah: This is just what I needed today.
Adenah stuttered to herself. Her words interrupted the couple. As they realized Adenah was watching them the put on a pity smile.
Laya: Hey Ade. You look good.
Adenah: Hey you two. Everything is alright if that is what you were asking.
Laya: Kind of. I'm glad that you alright.
Adenah: Excuse me now. I have to go.
Mitchell: Wait are you busy tonight?
Adenah: Maybe. Why?
Mitchell: My frat brothers are throwing a party tonight you can join us if you want. Laya will be there.
Laya: Oh yes that would be great.
Adenah: I don't know.
Mitchell: You can bring someone if you want.
Adenah: Okay than see you tonight. It's the Mi Etta Mi fraternity!
Laya: Yes that one.
Adenah: See ya than
Pier and Carla were laughing while exiting the cafe.
Pier: I had a really good time with you. So do you wanna have a good time with me?
Carla: What do you mean?
Pier: My circle is going to hunt down the Scarabi demon. We could use your help?
Carla: I never met a Scarabi. I heard about them but never met one.
Pier: So you're in?
Carla: Yes. . ., wait just a second there is one of my friends I want to say hello.
Pier: Who?
Carla: Dijana Sapia.
Pier suddenly turned and saw Dijana standing behind him. He saw she was surprised as well. Carla approached Dijana. Pier just watched them watched them talk. He knew Dijana wouldn't see it his way and draw the wrong conclusions. He wanted to approach her, but with her not answering his calls yesterday it was all spoken out. Carla kissed her on the cheek and they said byes. They parted ways.
Pier: Carla sorry I will see you tonight I need to talk to Dijana.
Carla: You know her.
Pier: She is my ex.
Pier rushed pass the stunned Carla.
Pier: Dijana stop. Please stop.
Dijana accelerated her walk trying to escape her. Pier caught up and took her by her sleeve and turned. She was tearing up.
Pier: Are you okay?
Dijana: Are you serious?
Pier: What?
Dijana: Yesterday you asked me to get back together and today I see you with an other girl on a date.
Pier: First of this wasn't a date and second why would you even care? You ignored me last night.
Dijana: With right apparently.
Pier: No you don't get to do this. I was there. I wanted you no matter what and you were the one leaving me behind every single time. Listen to me well I won't run after you, I won't be in a relationship were I have to apologize for having a past. So it´s your call if you want me proof it.
Mandy was rushing to the door. The door bell interrupted her while creating a potion.
Mandy: Who is it?
Adenah: It's me Adenah. Open quickly.
Mandy opened the door and saw Adenah standing in front of her. She looked great.
Adenah: What are you looking at?
Mandy: Nothing. I just don't think that is the best outfit for a Demon hunt.
Adenah: Your right it isn't. May I came in?
Mandy: Of course.
Adenah walked pass Mandy and went to the kitchen.
Mandy: What's wrong with you today?
Adenah: Be quite and come here. What is smelling this bad?
Mandy: I'm preparing a stunning potion for tonight.
Adenah: Good. Where are Frank and Mike?
Mandy: Frank went to buy rose root it's the only remaining ingredient for the potion, and Mike is chaining his clothes.
Adenah: Great. I need to ask you a favor! You owe me one right.
Mandy: Say. Whatever you need.
Adenah: I need you to go to a party with me.
Mandy: That isn't a favor.
Adenah: Yes it is if we have to go tonight.
Mandy: The boys will never let us go. We started all this mess with the Scarabi demon.
Adenah: I know but Laya invited me and I need to go.
Mandy: What do you mean? You need to go?
Adenah took a deep breathe and looked Mandy deep into her eyes. Mandy was confused but suddenly she realized.
Mandy: Ohhh. You and Laya.
Adenah: I don't know. I feel there is something but she says she is straight.
Mandy: You mean she has a boyfriend.
Adenah: Yes that to.
Michael: You arrieved! Is the potion ready?
Mandy: Almost Mike. Listen Mike, I can't go hunt tonight.
Michael: Ohh great.
Mandy: You're fine with it.
Michael: Yes you won't disturb us. And the last time you almost died.
Adenah: What do you mean She won't disturb us. Is this a girl thing? You believe we aren't capable as you.
Michael: I didn't mean that.
Mandy: Yes you did. I know when you're lying.
Adenah: Let's go Mandy. You lost an other witch. Grab some clothes and heels and let's go.
Mandy rushed to her room.
Adenah: I knew you were sexist but even towards your own sister.
Michael: Do you really think I didn't here you two talking. It's fine. Go for it.
Adenah didn't trust her own ears.
Adenah: Thank you. Hurry up Mandy.
Mandy: I'm ready let's go.
Adenah opened the door. Just to see Frank and Pier getting up the stairs.
Adenah: Hello guys. And see ya later. Michael will explain everything to you.
Frank and Pier entered the apartment.
Pier: What's happening Mike? Where are they off to?
Michael: To some party.
Frank: Yeah right. Ade going willingly to a party.
Pier: Good one Mike.
Michael: I'm not joking guys. She has hot's for some Laya girl and Mandy is playing back up.
Pier: Laya. Than it's possible.
Frank: Are you sure that we can let them alone? The Scarabi can try to hunt them.
Michael: Doubt it. I cast a locating spell with Mandy and it shown him at the graveyard.
Frank: If you say so.
Michael: And Frank please don't sleep with my sister.
Frank: What? I would never.
Michael: Right. And I wouldn't bang a Victoria Secret model.
Pier: So to interrupt this awkward moment I have to say we have company tonight. My lab partner witch will join us tonight. So when will we get to the graveyard. I would to text her the right time.
Frank: What wait. I told you she was dangerous and to powerful.
Pier: I don't think she is evil or that powerful or at least I don't sense it that way.
Michael: Frank don't worry, even if she attacks us there are 3 of us we can handle her for sure.
Frank: The issue is you 2 never fought against a Celestial witch. They can be bitchy as hell what really doesn't weaken them.
Michael: We will take an extra bottle of stunning potion for her. Come on let's get ready.
The Mi Etta Mi frat house was packing. People were dancing, drinking , flirting, Mandy was sure this was the best party she ever was one. At least from all the parties she can remember. She lost sight of Adenah and was trying to find a spot where she hadn't to look at new Alfa Pi members. Cause this was an initiation party for all the new Alfa Pi and Mi Etta Mi members. She thought she would have bigger problems with not getting accepted but she was just fine. She stopped feeling the pressure of being perfect. Finally she found a spot for herself when she suddenly heard someone entered the room behind her, it was Mira.
Mira: Hello sister.
Mandy: What do you want Mira?
Mira: Just to welcome you into the sorority. Oh wait you didn't got in.
Mandy: Yes. I didn't so I don't have to put on with you're crap.
Mira: True. But either way I will give it to you.
Mira tried to approach Mandy, but she was obviously drunk and could barely reach Mandy.
Mandy: I'm so glad you won't remember this.
Mandy made a move with her hand making Lydian clash against the wall and lose consciousness. Mandy intended to punish Mira more, but she couldn't. She knew her magic wasn't intended for publicly embarrassing people. She just left the room and headed out.
As Pier, Frank and Michael approached the graveyard Pier already recognized Carla standing at the entrance. She was punctual 10 pm. right on time.
Pier: Please you 2 don't be weird.
Michael: Me? Never. Do you have a thing for this girl?
Pier: No. I'm just digging her being so different.
Frank: I won't be weird. I will just stun her the moment see her make a wrong move.
The circle members finally reached the graveyard entrance,
Pier: Hey Carla this are Frank and Michael. My fellow circle members.
Carla: Hello. Nice to meet you. So are you ready to hunt?
Michael: You can bet it. Did you notice anyone suspicious?
Carla: Just one guy passed. He had a black huddy he entered the graveyard half hour ago.
Pier: That should be our guy.
Frank: Probably. We should split. Michael and I will cover part above the big tree you the one underneath it. Be careful the demon can pass on to you.
Pier: Okay let's go. Scream if you find him or text whatever is appropriate.
Frank: Come on Mike. There is no time to waste.
Frank started walking and Michael followed him right away catching up after a few steps.
Frank: I really hope we find the demon I need to kick something ASAP.
Adenah was really enjoying the party. Hot sorority girl all around, drinks and great music. The Dj really got her vibe. The even better thing, she lost Mandy. She was really a downer she wasn't good company at all. Adenah was mingling in the crowd and looking for Laya. She know she headed to self hurt road but her attraction towards Laya overpowered everything. Suddenly someone twitched her on her on the shoulder, she turned. It was Laya.
Adenah: Hey.
Laya: Hey. I'm glad you made it.
Adenah: Yes. I really needed this. Yesterday was pretty awful.
Laya: I get it. Where is your plus one.
Adenah: I don't know. I lost Mandy while I tried to get us a drink.
Laya smiled, discretely but she smiled. Adenah noticed. Why would she smile over me losing Mandy, Adenah thought. Was it just funny or was she happy I didn't came with a date? Adenah was tormented by all this mixed signals. But she knew she had to move forward to see where she and Laya were standing.
Adenah: It's quite noisy, let's find a quieter place to talk a bit.
Laya: Okay, we can go to the first floor. There are some empty rooms upstairs.
Adenah: Great.
Frank and Michael were wondering over their part of the graveyard. A half hour passed already and they didn't find anyone.
Frank: I'm sure we passed this part already.
Michael: No we didn't. Or maybe we did. Everything seems so similar.
Frank: Right. So should we meet up with Pier or search?
Michael: Don't know. Look there.
Michael pointed his finger to his left and Frank followed with his eyes. In the shadows you could see someone moving around, running from one bush to the other.
Frank: Let's go that is our guy.
Frank and Michael started running.
Pier: I can't believe we ended up at the entrance again. This is the 3r time happening. Right?
Carla: Yeah I believe so. Are you feeling dizzy?
Pier: No why? Are you okay?
Carla: I don't know. Let rest please.
Pier: Come here is a bench. Sit down. I will text Mike they should meet us here.
Carla approached the bench and set down slowly. Pier stood by her side, and noticed an odd shadow in behind a grave stone.
Pier: Wait here for a moment Carla.
Carla: What's wrong?
Pier: I think I found the demon.
Pier got fast to the body lying on the ground. He turned the body, just to realize it was a man.
Pier: He seems alive. I wonder how we didn't notice him as we entered here. You would see him turn here.
Carla: I did saw him.
Pier: What? What's wrong with your voice?
Pier turned and saw Carla standing 5 feet away from him. Her eyes were red on her forehead the Scarabi sign. She was infested.
Pier: Ohh no.
Carla made a quick move with her hand and Pier found him flying to stone path.
Adenah and Laya were sitting on a small bed in one of the rooms on the 1st floor.
Adenah: I really love talking to you.
Laya: Me too. I love talking to myself.
Adenah: I believe you do. So how long are you and Mitchell together?
Laya: A year and a half and still going strong. It was attraction on first side. I made him really work to kiss me.
Adenah: How much had he work to get into your panties?
Laya: He didn't I'm a virgin and I intend to be till my wedding day.
Adenah spilled out her drink.
Adenah: What? Are you kidding me? I doubt such a hot girl could stay Virgin.
Laya: You can think what you want but no action happening in my panties.
Adenah: Impressing. How does poor Mitchell coop with that?
Laya: A lot of cold showers. Believe me a lot.
Both of the started smiling. Suddenly their hands touched. It was just for a second, and it made Adenah feel so good. An awkward tension filled up the room. Laya couldn't look at Adenah. Suddenly Mitchell entered the room.
Mitchell: Hello gorgeous. What are you doing here?
Obviously wasted, he approached Laya.
Laya: Hello sweetie. We were just talking.
Adenah: Yes just talking.
Mitchell: Why are you behaving so awkward? Is there something going on between you two?
Pier: Carla I think we should talk about this. This is the demon doing.
Pier was running backwards away from Carla. She was hypnotized, she wouldn't react to anything he was saying.
Carla: You witches think you are so much better than we are. But now I have power real power. Convocatis amicis, ut me adiuvet.
Pier: There are more of you.
Carla: Plenty.
Pier reached for his stunning potion and throw him towards Carla. She noticed it and throw fireball towards the potion making it explode. The impact made Pier fall on his back and break his arm. The demon walked towards him.
Carla: Sadly this will be your end.
Suddenly Carla was blown away. Pier looked behind him and watched Frank and Michael run towards him. With a bunch of people behind them. He smiled he was happy they came in time.
Michael: Get up Pier. No time for resting. We are under attack.
Frank: Can you get up?
Pier: Yes. The bitch broke my arm. We heel it up when we are save.
Frank: Okay. Is it time to say I told you so.
Pier: To early. Come on before Carla recovers.
Mandy was trying to reach Adenah on her cell with no success. She was standing outdoors, cause she couldn't bare to see Mira again. In the distance she saw a police car approaching. The register plate seemed familiar to her. It was Stephen's car. He stopped his car and exited. He didn't recognized Mandy till he was on the path to the enter the Frat house.
Mandy: Good evening officer.
Stephen: Good evening Mandy. Nice to see you again.
Mandy: Are you sure?
Stephen: Of course. Are you attending this party or just hanging outside.
Mandy: I was but some mean girl made me leave, or better said I choose to leave.
Stephen: I came to check if everything is okay and as it seems it is.
The entrance to the Frat house opened and Mira rushed out.
Mira: What did you do to me Bitch?
Mandy: I don't know what you are talking about. Get away from me.
Stephen: Miss are you okay.
Mira: No I'm not she attacked me.
Mandy: I didn't even touch you.
Stephen: Miss did you consume alcohol?
Mira took a better look at Stephen and noticed his uniform.
Mira: Of course not, Officer. I would never.
Stephen: I think you should go to the station to sober up.
Out of nowhere Stephen pulled out his cuffs, and put them on Mira. He brought her to his car and put in the back seat. Mandy couldn't handle her laugh she was enjoying every second. Mandy approached Stephen.
Mandy: How can I repay you for this?
Stephen: I want to take you on a date. Tomorrow 6 pm.
Mandy: It's a date. I live. .
Stephen: I know were you live, it's in your file.
Stephen entered his car and drove away with a hysteric Mira on his back seat. Mandy was happy, she couldn't lose that smile. She was on her way to re-enter the party when Adenah appeared in front of her.
Adenah: We have to go. Fast. Hurry.
Mandy: Okay. What happened?
Adenah: I'll explain on the way.
Frank was rushing. He was in Michael's kitchen trying to prepare a potion to reverse Pier's stunning. In the explosion he suffered a open broken arm wound and it got some stunning potion into his system. He was distracted Pier was screaming for quite a while. The initial shock made him get to the apartment but they couldn't heal the magical wound.
Michael: How are you getting along?
Frank: Not far. This potion is to strong we don't have the ingredients to counter it.
Michael: Why won't our magic work?
Frank: I don't know. Did you contact Mandy and Adenah.
Michael: They were crashing in Ade's room, they headed towards us. I barely woke them up.
Frank: I'm not surprised it's 6:30 am.
Adenah was rushing through town. She forced her yellow car to go as fast as it could and as fast as she could force it. The news of Pier getting hurt shocked her, she felt guilty for blowing them of and on top of things Laya and Mitchell got into a huge fight. She finally reached Mandy's building and parked right in front of it. She looked towards Mandy and they both had the same guilty expression on their face. They've exited the building and realized a woman in a red dress and with a black hat was approaching them.
Adenah: Is this woman heading towards us? Do you know her?
Mandy: Maybe? The coat seems familiar? Is this the Demon girl?
Adenah: Doubt she dresses this well.
The woman was getting much closer and as her head exited the shadow, Mandy and Adenah were shocked.
Mandy: Mom?
