Note: Hello beautiful people! I'm backkkk. After much confusion and some happiness with TVD I am happy to be back with another chapter. Originally I had an idea going but it turned out to be kinda lame so I took that break and focused on my HP stories (read them, please, I love your feedback, I practically live for it-and the stories will not disappoint). Anyway, after reading some stories on here and reviewing and what not I finally came up with a new direction/idea. I know it's been a while so before you start asking "what? I'm confused" go back and scan the rest. Or send a PM. I don't want others who are not confused to get confused. I welcome all reviews to my story. Thank you for reading! =)

Chapter 37

"Damon," Stefan whispered as he went over to his brother but Damon was already down the hall, not even looking back as he ran to Bonnie's room. He paused the door, looked around, stepped out, looked down the hall and then stepped back into the room. "Where the fuck did she go?" he asked as Elena appeared next to him.

"Where's Bonnie?" she asked, her voice high. "Damon, where's Bonnie?" she asked again as Damon looked around. No sign of a struggle, blood on the bed, but, not a lot. She was okay? That meant she was okay? Or at least alive. Maybe. Probably. Right? He wondered as he moved further into the room and looked around, even checking under the bed.

"Guys, I—where's Bonnie?" Stefan asked as he made his way to the doorway.

"Question of the night brother" Damon said sarcastically as he checked the bathroom even though it was quite clear it was empty. He clenched his teeth and before he could stop himself a table went flying. "Enough of the kidnapping bullshit!" he shouted pulling out his phone. "Where's Bonnie!" he demanded to Klaus.

"Isn't she with you?" Klaus asked, his voice cheerful.

"I wouldn't be calling if she was..." Damon grunted into the phone as he looked around the room, his eyes flashing with anger.

"Well, she's not with me; as much as I fancy our chats I am rather busy—"

"You listen to me you selfish manipulative son—" before he could continue Stefan grabbed the phone, clicking the off button as he did.

"Damon, I know you don't want to hear this right now, but you need to calm down" he said as Damon took deep breathes out, glaring at Stefan as he did.

"What happened? How could you let this happen?" he asked.

"Let it? I didn't let anything happen, I told you what happened with the car, I went to use the bathroom for one minute, I left and when I came back, Katherine stabbed me and blocked me off, with the salt, you were on your way by then, I heard my phone ringing" Stefan explained as Damon nodded and searched the room again.

"I'll call Caroline and Jeremy" Elena said as she exited the room.

"Damon…" Stefan started but Damon shook his head. It wasn't any good, he lost Bonnie. He would've called her but he already found her phone under the bed, cracked. It was of no use now. He had nothing to go and Klaus really didn't sound like he knew.

"I was last arguing with her. Our last real conversation I broke her heart, again" He started pacing the room, trying to think of some kind of plan, trying to develop some idea, trying to clear the fog. But all that came to mind was Bonnie's figure lying somewhere. "I don't know if I'll be the same if she dies again" he told Stefan as Elena's footsteps sounded.

"I'll meet you guys back at the house, Jeremy's freaking out a little, Caroline hasn't answered" Elena said from the hallway. The brothers nodded and listened to her footsteps as she left the floor. Damon sat himself on the end of the bed, Stefan sitting in the chair across from him. All Damon could do was shake his head.

"She's not going to go die Damon, we'll find her. Just like we always do, we always find each other. You'll find her. You didn't break her heart, she knows what she signed up for when she started dating you. She knew all the potential risks and consequences. Hey, think of it this way, she's stronger because of you. She's fighting even more to get back to you to tell what an idiot you are" Stefan said as Damon slowly let the corner of his mouth twitch.

"Come on, you head home, I'm going to go take care of Katherine and see if I can pick Caroline up. You start regrouping with Jeremy, make sure to fill him in on everything. Mr. Bennett too" Stefan said as Damon absently nodded and they headed out of the room and went in opposite directions. Stefan down the hall, Damon to his car.

Once outside he glanced down at his bloody hands. He probably should've washed them, but in a way it was like a reward, killing Katherine was a bloody victory that should be shown proudly, not quickly washed off in shame. What did he do with her heart anyway? He tried to remember as he started the engine. Maybe once Bonnie was safe he'd find the heart, put it on a stick and they'd all dance around it. He grimaced as he thought about it. Bonnie laughing, Bonnie safe, Bonnie with him.

Slowly he pulled into his driveway, he was half expecting fire to just fall on him from out a window as he moved closer to the house so he was a little surprised when nothing happened. He opened the door, Jeremy and Mr. Bennett pacing worryingly. "What? No stakes, no flames?" he asked, his inappropriate defensive nature coming out. "Because really Mr. Bennett I'd except a lot more from you than pacing" he said nodding at the man.

"My daughter is missing because of you. I have right and urge to snap your neck" he said as Damon gave him a tight rude smile. "But you're hurting, you want the punishment, you want the pain, you want to hide, to disappear. Well, I'm not letting you take that way, I'm not letting you become the coward you so desperately wish to be" Mr. Bennett said as Damon narrowed his eyes at him. "I said it before, you love my daughter, you continue to fight for her. We will find her, we will fix this," he said and for the first time in all the time Damon had known Rudy, he smiled, a true thankful smile. And then he held out his hand.

"What happens if your daughter is dead because of me this time?" Damon asked.

"I'll still kill you" Rudy replied without skipping a beat.

"Noted" Damon said as they shook hands.

"Do we know where she could be?" Jeremy asked as the two let go. Damon was a little confused why Jeremy was still standing there, looking all non-murderous. "I mean, I know we got rid of most of her stuff, but if there's anything we can find that might help us find her…" Jeremey continued but just as Damon started to shake his head the door opened. He sighed with relief to see Caroline and Stefan walk in.

"Good, now we can start all over again, Jeremy, wanna repeat what you said?" he asked but Caroline kept anxiously looking at Stefan. "Problem blondie?" Damon asked glancing over at Caroline with annoyance. She ignored him and kept staring, her eyes glancing around.

"Damon, we have a problem" Stefan said as he caught his brother's eye. Damon narrowed his eyes at him but then noticed something else. He looked, clean-ish. He still had the blood on his shirt where he was caught off guard, but that was it.

"Why aren't you bloodier…?" Damon asked slowly as Caroline now anxiously looked from Stefan to the others, her eyes frantically searching.

"Katherine's gone, okay" she said quickly unable to continue the build between the brothers. "She's gone and we don't know how because you ripped her heart out so it's like she has to be dead but then—" she paused again, her whole body going rigid. "Where's Elena?"
