Chapter 41
"Bonnie, whatever stupid thing you think you're going to do, don't" Damon coughed out as Bonnie's eyes remained on Klaus.
"I'm human now Klaus, but what happens when I die? You know how the vampire thing works" she said as Damon coughed again but had no ability to get up.
"Please, Bon, stop, it's not worth it" Damon said weakly as he looked over at Caroline and Rudy, both of them wheezing and unable to move.
"Don't play Russian Roulette with a vampire. We both know the Bonnie Bennett I know wouldn't have spiked herself with vampire blood. You hate vampires, they repulse you. Do you remember when your friend Caroline first turned? How you couldn't get past it? And how you were so desperate to save Elena that you got your powers taken away" Klaus said as he tried to take a step closer but Jeremy—still possessed by Shelia—held a tight grip. "You like being a witch, if you were not a witch it would mean you could not save dear Jeremy Gilbert whenever he died again, it would mean you could not protect your friends. It would mean the end to Bonnie Bennett's usefulness. So, stop playing games with me and pick a heart" Klaus said as Bonnie glanced over at her dad and them Damon.
"Use Katherine's, she's already dead" Bonnie said but Klaus was shaking his head. "Why are you even doing this?" she asked but Klaus remained looking unfazed by her question.
"Here…" he went over to Rudy and gave him some blood, not much but he seemed to slightly improve. "I helped your dad" he said.
"You're the one who turned in the first place" Bonnie snorted as Klaus made a face.
"Fair…" he walked over to Caroline but instead of healing her snapped her neck. Bonnie didn't make any obvious signs of flinching. Klaus, apparently displeased with her reaction gave the unconscious Caroline some of his blood.
"Now Damon" she said as Klaus walked over to Damon who was still coughing.
"You should know by now not to play games with me Bonnie, The only reason I haven't pulled out Stefan—or Elena's—heart is because it seems less…monstrous if I have you pick. You could say I'm taking your feelings into account. Personally though, I'd go with Elena, she's stabbed you in the back a few times, and she made some stupid sacrifice for you that doesn't even work because she's dumb" Klaus suggested as he pulled Damon closer. "Oh well," and then before Damon or Bonnie could react Klaus had sunk his teeth in Damon again. "I don't like games. Your boyfriend has a lot of werewolf coursing through his veins now. He has maybe, twenty, thirty minutes, forty-five if we're lucky. So, a heart, your life or Damon's? Which one does Bonnie Bennett hold closely?" he asked in a teasing manner.
"At least we'll all be happy. On the other side, together. You could kill all of us Klaus and we'd still win" Bonnie shouted at him. "We'll still be together" she said with a hard smile as Klaus showed the opposite reaction.
"How long do you think the spirit of Shelia Bennett can possess the horny body that is Jeremy Gilbert?" he asked as Bonnie glared at him. "And honestly Bonnie, the fact that we are still having this conversation sorta proves you have not taken vampire blood. You do not have vampire blood in your system. You. Are. Bluffing" Klaus said with a smile as Rudy and Caroline weakly started to stir as did Elena and Stefan.
"If I am you'll have your cure even after I'm dead, I'm not…then what?" she said as we paused. "You can rip the town apart trying to bring me back. The only reason we're still standing talking is because you're not sure. You don't know me" she said as Klaus started to get annoyed.
"Are you saying a certain vampire has changed you?" he asked glancing over at Damon.
"Takes dating an asshole to know an even bigger asshole" she countered as Klaus glared at her but she only slight smirked back.
"Enough, this is ridiculous!" he said through clenched teeth and then ran over to Elena. "I gave you a chance and a choice" he said as he reached down to the unconscious Elena.
"So did I…" Bonnie said quietly as she looked over at Rudy, Damon and Caroline. "I am so sorry, I was never supposed to go this far. I didn't want it to come to this. Damon, I love you and I know you'll be okay," she said though there were no tears in her eyes. "I will always love you, and I am so so sorry. And daddy…Caroline" she gave them little smiles and then touched Jeremy's hand, though it didn't look like he was letting go but Damon could see in his eyes, deep down he was fighting so hard to pull away. "Jer" she said and then swallowed hard.
"Bonnie, don't be foolish!" Klaus snapped at her as Bonnie gave him a hard look.
"Shelia, it's time" and then a snap and Bonnie was on the ground.
