Chapter 7

There was stunned silence around the room. There was no missing the significance of what I just revealed. Carlisle was the first to find his voice.

"Royces sister? Are you sure Rose?" Carlisle asked shocked. Everyone in the room looked to her waiting for the answer.

"Yes, I am. She wasn't talked about often. She was the black sheep of the family. Seems everyone has one. She knew she would never have her family's approval, so she started dabbling in the supernatural. Wicca and the like, finding anything she could, knowing that she would be accepted in that community. They seemed to prey on her vulnerability. I probably should have tried to reach out to her, but we all know I wasn't the person then, I am now." She stated. She seemed to be on auto pilot, spouting off facts filling in the gaps of their knowledge. It was easier this way. She didn't have to feel the pain of realizing that her past had once again caught up with her. "Things were different back then. Things weren't talked about, well not in public, they were gossiped in private. That's, irrelevant though." She looked down at the floor. Trying to ignore the rush of emotions thinking about this brought up. Emmet rubbed a hand on her back. She took a breath in and looked up at him and smiled. She felt guilty for dragging him through her past. She took another breath and then continued. "She was actually the daughter to another man, a very controversial subject back then, but her mother insisted it was her husbands and no one said otherwise. She lived with them, but was never really accepted that much was obvious. The day I went to pick out my wedding dress, I happened to see her talking to someone in the ally. I made my way across the street trying to stay out of her view. I wanted to see what she was up to. She had been acting strangely that week. Well, stranger than usual." She walked over the windows looking outside but not seeing, transported back to that day. "I walked to the front of the flower shop. Pretending to look for something in my purse I listened to her conversation with a woman. They were talking about a spell of immortality one that would make her able to live without aging. I laughed, I couldn't help it, the seriousness of their tone mixed with the ridiculousness of what they were saying seemed outrageous." She laughed quietly to herself. "Had I heard them say vampires existed I would have full out lost it, I guess the irony of it is kind of entertaining." A few of them chuckled but still knowing the seriousness, quickly quieted. I knew they had heard me so I quickly ducked into the flower shop and hid behind a display of lilies. She came around the corner and looked around but then left back to the alley. I quickly dismissed the idea of her and all her hocus pocus thinking it some kind of childish obsession, or just her way to escape reality. I then went to get my wedding dress and, well, the rest is history."

They all knew the rest of her story. It was a tragedy. It was an ode to the cruelness that corrupted the world still. We sat in silence no one sure of where to even start with this shocking news. To eveyones surprise Jacob surprised us when he stood. Edward smiled obviously knowing what he was going to do. Jake crossed the room from his place beside Renesmee and hugged Rose. She tensed, not expecting a show of affection, but she soon returned his hug. It was brief, but when he stepped back he looked at her with fire in his eyes.

"This bitch will not hurt you or anyone we love." He promised by his tone. She looked at him her eyes glassy, the only sign that a vampire would be crying if they could. The affection and willing protection over her even though they are usually at each other was moving. She squeezed his hand in thanks and nodded her head. The only sign of agreement she trusted herself making at the moment.

Esme stood and agreed. "He's right Rose. We will do everything in our power as a family to protect you." They all agreed. She felt relief and gratitude sweep over her at the kindness and love this family had.
"Ok then whats the plan." Emmet boomed.
