Chapter 41: Galbatorix's Mistake
Galbatorix was shocked when he saw Sonic lunge towards him, his pupiless eyes filled with hate. The now-black dragon roared and snapped at Galbatorix but the evil dragon flew up in the air, avoiding him.
Where did you get this much power? Galbatorix asked.
Sonic ignored him. You killed my mate, along with her egg! Now it is time to pay! I'll kill you, Galbatorix. I swear it!
The black dragon looked back at Galbatorix and roared even louder, spreading his wings as he flew high in the air. Galbatorix snarled and swiped at Sonic with his talons. Sonic evaded the blow and flew towards the evil dragon, claws outstretched. Galbatorix roared in anger as Sonic scratched him, sending blood flying from the wounds. Sonic circled around Galbatorix and opened his jaws, sending out a jet of fire that scorched the evil dragon. Galbatorix hissed in pain and blew a breath of fire towards him, aiming for the black dragon. Sonic screeched in pain as the fire engulfed his body.
Sonic spread his wings and flew higher in the air. Galbatorix spread his wings also and flew after the black dragon, battling in the air. The black dragon scratched Galbatorix and dove, growling loudly. He took a deep breath, sending fire towards the evil dragon. The fire missed as Galbatorix dodged it. Suddenly he flapped his wings and circled above Sonic. He dove at the black dragon, hitting Sonic with such force and sent him plummeting to the ground. As the dragon landed, he blew fire at Galbatorix. While the evil dragon was distracted, Sonic opened his jaws and bit down hard on Galbatorix's neck. Galbatorix screeched and roared in pain as the dragon held on. Sonic closed his jaws creating a huge wound in the evil dragon's neck.
Galbatorix snarled, flapped his wings and flew out of Sonic's grasp, slashing his claws across the black dragon's face. Sonic roared in pain and flew upward, diving at Galbatorix. He took a deep breath and let out a stream of fire and slammed into the evil dragon's' side, burying his fangs into Galbatorix's scales. The evil dragon growled in pain and shook Sonic off. The two dragons hovered in the air, staring each other down.
You have grown much stronger in this new form, Galbatorix said. But you still will never kill me! Dragons are immortal!
Sonic growled. They cannot age and they can only be killed by another dragon; that is what makes them immortal. I'll kill you, and your reign of terror will be over!
He flew towards Galbatorix, breathing fire at the evil dragon. Sonic dodged the fire and retaliated with one of his own. A stream of fire flew toward Galbatorix, engulfing him in flame. He screeched in pain but recovered from the blow. Galbatorix flapped his wings and flew at Sonic, surrounding him. Claws slashed across the black dragon's face as Galbatorix attacked. Sonic roared in pain and flew upward and dove at Galbatorix. The black dragon took a deep breath and let out a stream of fire that surrounded Galbatorix, slamming into the evil dragon's side, burying his fangs into Galbatorix's neck. The enemy dragon growled in pain and tried to throw Sonic off but couldn't. He dove towards the ground and slammed into the castle ruins with such force that it threw Sonic off of him. The two dragons got to their feet and glared at each other.
It seems we are equally matched in strength, Galbatorix told Sonic. But what about your mental consciousness?
He plunged his consciousness into Sonic's mind. Sonic roared in pain as he felt mental barriers being stripped away, leaving his mind vulnerable and open to attack. He then felt the evil dragon's presence enter his head, searching for memories and looking through them. A few seconds later, Sonic put his mental barriers up and Galbatorix felt resistance. He withdrew his consciousness from the dragon's mind and snorted.
Sonic saw his chance and attacked Galbatorix's own consciousness, who was taken by surprise and had no time to put his mental barriers up. He roared in pain and fell to the ground, clutching his head in pain. Sonic smirked and continued the assault, combining the powers of the Eldunari he had with him. Galbatorix glared at him, growling at Sonic viciously.
Galbatorix tried to get up but Sonic lunged forwards, scratching Galbatorix on the chest with his talons, creating a large wound. The evil dragon roared in pain as Sonic created a mental spell helped by the Eldunari, and cast it at Galbatorix. The evil dragon's eyes widened as he felt the effects of the spell and growled, looking at Sonic.
Stop...it! Galbatorix roared. What have you done?
Made you see the errors of your ways, Sonic said.
Galbatorix's eyes widened as the effects of Sonic's spell took hold. He could see everything that he had done wrong, and it was causing him great pain. The evil dragon roared in tremendous pain and slashed at Sonic but couldn't reach him. His will and strength were leaving him. Sonic smirked and let out a massive ball of flame that engulfed Galbatorix completely. When he ended the fire blast, Galbatorix was barely alive, smoke rising from his scales. Sonic growled and pounced on Galbatorix, glaring at him.
I didn't lie when I said that I would kill you, Sonic told him. You are weak now but I will not show you any mercy.
The evil dragon glared at him, knowing that he had lost. Sonic growled and opened his jaw, plunging his fangs into Galbatorix's neck. With a sharp crack, Galbatorix's neck broke instantly. Sonic got off of Galbatorix and let out a loud prideful roar, knowing that Galbatorix was dead.
