Chapter 17
Bad timing
"With the dark core down we only had one more long trip to go. Now they were racing the clock. If we take too long, the dark core would respawn but there's something off. How can something just spawn out of no where? Is this even feasible? It doesn't fit the laws of nature. Of course all this dark and light magic doesn't fit the laws of nature does it? I want to go back and take care of our kid but we need to destroy this other core right? The land will be destroyed if we don't right? Scouter, where are you when I need you the most? Scouter, I wish you could help me here, you would know what to do..." Dash turns in his temporary nest and falls asleep.
Dewott got everyone up early this morning. The sun had not even gone over the horizon. The light from the sun hadn't even touched the sky. One may not know that the sun even will rise today to give the land the much needed warmth. The air was cool and moist. After yesterday's burning grasslands, it was very nice for the cool air. Dewott and servine gave Dash and Penny breakfast and they all ate hungrily and happily. By the time they had finished their breakfast, only the much remembered yet barely noticeable cycle of the sun was visible. Only the edge of it though. The darkness and light still battled for control of the world just like they have done since the beginning yet they can't survive with out each other. They walk back into the familiar forest. Everyone felt safe again. For most the scary shadows from the trees would deter any movement in the forest at night but to them, these shadows and figures were familiar friends of the dark. Tree after tree after tree had passed them on their trip. There were trees to the front, right, left, behind, upward, and downward of them. Yet they all knew where they were and where they were going in this forest of trees. The tall trees gave them a feeling of protection. This was the two day journey through the woods.
On the third day, we reached the edge of the woods. The environment changed suddenly and drastically like some one divided the land with a sharp knife. There were fallen trees everywhere, almost like they were left there like broken toothpicks. Dash, Penny, dewott and servine weave there way around these lifeless trees. There wasn't much living around these trees. The wind was blowing fiercely in this area that was protected by the trees. Dewott stands at the highest point in the area on a fallen tree looking around. He looks at the map and looking at the area. Servine, Dash, and Penny wait behind dewott on the ground. Dewott hands the map for Penny to hold while they were walking.
"Why don't you put it in your bag?" Penny asked.
"It gets annoying to have to go searching through the bag every time I need it." dewott replied.
After an hour of climbing over, under, and around trees, they made it out of the maze of trees. They started walking in a cleaned up area of the fallen forest. This part was a lot easier to move around because there was no downed trees obstructing the path. "I wonder where all the trees went?" Dash and Penny thought. Even though they asked the question in their head, they pretty much knew already where they all went. They just never seen an area of defenseless trees downed and hauled away until now. Dash and Penny have never been at the edge of the forest until this trip because they had no reason to.
A strange shadow flies across the ground. At first everyone ignores it but when it turns back around everyone looks up and sees this huge pokemon flying around them like they were prey. Before anyone had a chance to run, this huge pokemon lands hard on the ground in front of them, causing the to shake violently and at the instant that everyone had recovered from the trembles, the pokemon used roar of time, causing Dash and Penny to fly backwards. Dash and Penny look up to see dewott and servine dissolve from the world along with the supplies that dewott was holding. Dash and Penny get up to their feet and look at dialga with a confused and anger look.
"Why did you do that?" Dash yelled.
Dialga looks at Dash and Penny and said, "oh you're not from the future like the other two."
"no! Why did you kill dewott and servine?"
"Technically they're not dead, they just don't exist at this time anymore."
"Well why did you do that?"
"They were messing with the fabric of time and space."
"What do you mean?"
"When ever someone goes to a new time, they poke a hole in the fabric of time and by meeting you, they disturbed the fabric of space."
Dash and Penny exchanges looks. Dialga continues talking, "I protect the fabric of time. If the fabric is damaged, it's my job to get rid of all that puncture holes into the fabric and to repair the holes. Now that they are gone, I can repair some of the holes. However, there are other pokemon that have also broke through, and I'm going to need to get rid of them before I can fully repair the hole. They are lucky that their actions didn't cause a huge tear or even the whole destruction of the space and time fabrics. That would be deadly for the land and the pokemon. Any who I need to find the other pokemon who invaded this time." Dialga flies away.
Dash and Penny look at each other and with another word spoken they move to the edge of the fallen forest. With it getting late, they went to the nearest tree to go rest. Although they did more thinking then sleeping.
Dash looks at Penny under the tree with the moonlight glistening the ground and he asks, "Are we doing the right thing?"
Penny looks away, "I really can't answer that." she said.
Dash looks at the full moon, "Then why are we doing this?"
Penny looks at the ground and replies, "Because we are following ourselves and we also were told that we were right but ourselves."
"But are we right?"
"I really don't know Dash... I feel it in my gut that we are doing the right thing but maybe what we're doing is hurting the world. Perhaps we were lied to by our ourselves. Sometimes our worse enemy is ourselves."
Dash looks at Penny, "What do you think we should do?"
Penny looks at Dash, "I think we continue our journey because that's the only we will know the true truths on both sides."
