Chapter 16 G: Release of True Evil.
Sega Two finale…
Twilight was forced away from Night Shadow as a light crashed around him, freeing him of his mental bonds. She watched as the image of Night Shadow ascended into the sky before disappearing in the bright light above. The light was abruptly shut off, leaving Twilight in a void of complete darkness before everything around her started to shake violently, causing the black void of Night Shadow's mind to collapse and shatter around her.
"What's going on!" She screamed in terror.
"You're about to be ejected from his mind!" Light Shade yelled. "You did it, Twilight, you freed him! Just mind the jump!"
"What do you mean mine the-
Before she could even process what just happened, she returned to the real world and time began again. In a loud bang of sound, Dark Fire, Twilight, and Night Shadow were blasted into all four corners of the arena. But there was something else. A fourth pony was shot out of the main body as well, and she looked just like Twilight but darker. Once again, Twilight was left confused as the clone of herself quickly got up to her hooves and beamed out of the window in a flash of dark purple light. Everypony else, however, was left with their jaws dropped as they looked back at Night Shadow and Dark Fire, realizing the two had separated.
"Twilight! What are you doing?!" Dark Fire yelled, holding a hoof to his chest as he looked at the unconscious red pony. "Without Night Shadow I won't be able to hold back the evil within my heart! I will turn to Death Fire!"
"WHAT!" Twilight screamed. "I thought releasing Night Shadow would stop him from escaping!"
"Who in the holy heavens told you that?!"
"Light Shade!"
"YOU TOOK ADVICE FROM HIM!" Dark Fire screamed in panic, closing his eyes in pain.
Dark Fire's aura turned from red to black as the darkness tried to overcome the now redeemed pony.
"Twilight quick, get the elements of harmony and blast me with their power! Don't hold back!"
"But what about yo-
"DON'T WORRY ABOUT ME, JUST DO IT!"
Back in the arena, Desolent overheard the conversation and couldn't help but get some ideas as he stood up onto his hooves to face Maneful and the others.
"Well guys, I hate to interrupt out little fight, but I have bigger fish to fry!" The pony said, putting his hoof to his mouth.
After a loud whistle, a huge, undead black dragon burst through the castle walls, causing even more chaos to erupt within the crowd. Twilight gazed at the dragon in horror, realizing that it was the same dragon Night Shadow defeated centuries ago. The dragon opened his mouth and with a loud shout, shattered the magical shield around the arena. Landing next to his master, Desolent walked over to his pet and nuzzled his face.
"Durrarnco…it seems I have forgotten to feed you…" Desolent whispered before pointing his hoof at the group. "DISPOSE OF THEM!"
The green necromancer vanished just as the dragon smashed the ground with his claws and breathed green fire at the ponies before him. Just before the fire hit though, it was blocked by a large purple wall of magic, redirecting the fire safely around the group of ponies.
"Seems like we're late for the party." Enderpearl smirked, cracking his neck.
"Better late than never." Endershine said, flipping her mane to the side.
As the two ponies dashed at the dragon to face it head on, hundreds of undead ponies started to flood the castle and pick off the remaining guards.
"Ok guys, new plan!" Maneful said, turning to face her allies. "Ammisive, Stritin and Eccentric, fight off these undead hoards for as long as you can. Nightmare and Chrysalis, see what you can do to stop Desolent from gaining another inch of ground, use deadly force if needed. Discord; find the elements of harmony. Dad, you're on defense, blast anything that gets near Twilight, everyone got that!"
Everypony nodded and took off. Everyone except Castigate who just stood there.
"What do I do?" Castigate asked, having a worried grin.
"You're with me." Maneful said, grabbing the stallion.
"Of all the rotten luck!" He said, vanishing with the courageous mare.
Maneful and Castigate appeared near Twilight just as Desolent appeared behind her. Twilight looked up just in time to see Desolent almost blast her head off if it wasn't for Sombra bucking him back down to the arena floor.
"Alright, what now?" Sombra asked, conjuring a shield around the group as the battle raged on from below.
Maneful turned to look at Celestia.
"Don't just stand there! Free the other's and help us out!"
Celestia blinked in realization and instantly went to free Luna and Cadance. After fighting off more undead soldiers, the princess managed to free the other's from their magical bonds.
"Twilight…I can't hold out much longer!" Dark Fire screamed.
"Where are those crazy girls?!" Twilight yelled, looking around frantically.
"FALL TO THE PAIN OF SUFFERING!" Desolent screamed, launching a fissure of green magic at Twilight.
Maneful jumped in the way and sliced it in half with her own magic, but accidently made two fissures instead of one. The two fissures sliced through both sides of the stands they were at, forcing it to slide down and crash on the arena floor below. Twilight, Dark Fire, Maneful, Castgate and Sombra all rolled onto the floor painfully as the rubble crashed around them.
"How do I keep getting cough up in these situation?!" Castigate cried, covering his head with his hooves and shaking in fear.
The dark sorcerer landed roughly before the ponies, charging his power as he walked forward.
"Nowhere to hide and nowhere to run Twilight!" Desolent proclaimed.
Desolent extended his hooves to the right and blasted Chrysalis and Nightmare just as they appeared next to him, sending them skidding across the floor. Discord started to throw explosive plates at the pony once this happened, but Sombra dashed forward and engaged Desolent in combat, buying Twilight more time.
"What is up with you good guys taking your sweat time to get here?!" Maneful yelled, looking at Twilight.
"I don't know, just keep holding him off!" Twilight shouted, trying to calm Dark Fire's mind.
Sombra did buy them more time, but it was short lived when he was kicked right into Maneful and forcing into the pile of rubble.
"Castigate, do something now!" Twilight ordered.
"I don't know what to do! I'm just a rich pony with a horn!" Castiagte said, backing away from Desolent.
"Castigate, everypony is counting on you! Do it for your family, your friends…do it for the bits in your pocket?!" Twilight encouraged.
The silver pony suddenly felt a wave of confidence, casting his fear aside to do what was right…sort of. With the thought of saving his money in mind, he teleported in front of Desolent and stared him down.
"I might be a cowardly rich pony with a horn, but I'm not afraid to stand up to you! So if you want to get to Twilight, you're going to have to go throu-
Desolent punched Castigate right in the mussel, making the silver pony scream out like a little filly as he hit the floor. The thought of why Castigate was even in the elements of disharmony came to mind.
"Now it's just you and me, Twilight." Desolent whispered.
"Not exactly…"
Dark Fire slowly walked by Twilight and stood in front of her, trying to protect her.
"I still have some fight left in me…"
"Dark Fire no, what if-
"You need more time…so take it!" Dark Fire yelled, still battling his true evil In his heart.
"I sense a lot of darkness in you that is similar to mine…very well, if you're so willing to sacrifice yourself to me then so be it!" Desolent screamed, charging at the black stallion.
In that split moment, a white flash shinned before Desolent, pushing him back several feet. He became enraged when he gazed at the form of Celestia trying to stop him like she did before.
"WHY YOU INSOLENT WORM, I WILL ERADICATE YOU FROM THIS WORLD AND CAST YOUR SOUL INTO THE DEPTS OF-
"Dust Breaker?" A soft voice said over the battle.
Desolent's eyes dilated as he froze in place, recognizing the voice over all the chaos. From behind Celestia, a gray mare with a yellow mane revealed herself carrying her daughter on her back. With a silent and shaky gesture, he made his dragon and all the undead warriors stop fighting.
"Is…is that really you?" The mare asked in a more fearful tone.
The energy and magic around Desolent faded as the stallion witnessed the mare with his own eyes. Still unsure if he was believing what he was seeing.
"I know you from somewhere…but I don't know why?" The stallion said, looking at the mare.
"How could you forget who I was?" The gray mare asked, starting to cry. "I'm Ditzy Doo…your beloved wife."
"YOUR WIFE?!" Everypony shouted in complete surprise.
Desolent was just as shocked as they were until his memories came back to him like a ton of bricks.
"TWILIGHT!" The stallion screamed as he reappeared in the Everfree forest. "YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT YOU DID TO ME!"
The pony continued to uproot trees, destroy hills and boulders and vaporize any form of life around him as the miasma overtook his heart. Completely lost in anger, he caused massive earthquakes and a large forest fire to erupt around him, uncaring as to who saw.
"I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE BEST! IT WAS MY DESTINY TO BECOME THE BEST! AND SHE JUST COMES AND RUINS MY LIFE!"
The green pony smashed his hooves into the ground, forcing the ground up and shattering it to pieces.
"EVERYTHING I HAD EVER DONE WAS FOR THAT GOAL, TO FULFILL MY MOTHERS WISHES AND REDEEM MY FAMILIES NAME…BUT EVERYTHING I HAVE EVER DONE ALWAYS ENDED IN FAILUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Desolent screamed out so loud that the clouds disappeared from the area and formed a dark swirling storm cloud above him. At the very peak of his anger and scream, a huge bolt of lightning crashed into his form. The ground beneath him burned up instantly and became scorched, but the pony remained intact. Tears streamed down the ponies face as a green bubble formed around his body that shinned and hummed violently. At that same moment, the bubble expanded and exploded in a huge wave of destructive energy and magic.
Desolent gazed at his hooves in awe as he noticed that he was covered in a green fire like aura. Unsure as to what it was, he pointed his hoof to the right and fired a green ball of energy that blew up a tree into pieces. Unbeknownst to the unicorn, he had become the second pony in history to receive the gift of energy manipulation. His mind was drawn away from this when he heard a whimpering pony behind him.
Turning around to finish off whoever it was with his new powers, his eyes dilated. The gray mare looked up at him with teary golden eyes and a fearful expression, shaking in terror as she tried to back away.
"Don't…don't hurt me…please…" The mare whispered in a soft tone.
The miasma in the pony's heart rapidly started to lose power as he continued to gaze at this fearful mare. In his mind, Desolent had already made the decision to end her life, but he couldn't. There was something about her that just couldn't get him to do it. And that's when it hit him.
"Mom….is that you…"
Returning back to reality, Desolent finally remembered who the mare was.
"Derpy hooves!" Desolent cried out, starting to cry. "I thought you left me…"
"I never left you." Derpy said, walking to him and stopping only several inches away from him. "Why would I ever leave you?"
The little filly on Ditzy's back started to wake up, demanding the green pony's attention. It wasn't long before the filly was staring at Desolent right in the eyes.
"Daddy?" The little filly whispered.
The sorcerer slowly picked up the filly and brought her close to him. After shedding even more tears, the green pony hugged her and his wife in a warm embrace. Several seconds later, Discord appeared in the room along with the other elements of harmony.
"Sorry we're late, Twi, we got held up." Rainbow said, rubbing the back of her head.
"And for the fact that we took a wrong turn." Rarity added.
"But come on girls! We found the party room!" Pinkie shouted.
"Ummm, Pinkie…that was the torture room." Applejack said.
"Oh…then why were all those cupcakes in there then?"
"Hey, what's going on over there?" Fluttershy asked, pointing at Desolent.
"That Fluttershy…is love." Celestia said, continuing to watch.
"Girls, I need your help here." Twilight said, getting her friends attention.
Meanwhile, all the other ponies watched as Desolent broke the hug and looked into Ditzy's eyes.
"Dust…Celestia told me what happened to you all those years ago. I don't want to you be hurt…please, stop this useless fighting and come back to me." Ditzy said, nuzzling her husband.
Desolent placed Dinky back onto Ditzy's back and kissed her on the cheek.
"I will…." Desolent whispered, looking into her eyes. "After I finish what I have started…."
Ditzy shook her head, her eyes pleading for him to stop.
"You don't understand what she did to me, but one day you will. One day you will understand that what she did can never be fixed again. She made me into what I am…and she has to pay for it."
"Dust, she didn't do this to you…you did this to yourself."
Desolent closed his eyes and enveloped Ditzy in a green aura of magic.
"Then for that…I must ask you to forgive me…goodbye." The unicorn said as his eyes glowed purple.
"Dust, don't do this to-
Ditzy and her daughter vanished from view as Desolent turned back to his enemies.
"The miasma might have caused me to forget about her existence, but now that I have reunited with her, there is nothing stopping me from leveling this entire castle and its inhabitance. Thank you…you have only doomed yourselves."
With a quick flash of his horn, all the undead started to fight once again, taking everyone by surprise as the dragon once again smashed down onto the ground. Desolent took the opportunity to form a dark sphere of miasma with his horn and charged up his hooves with energy.
"Twilight might have gotten lucky when Celestia saved her all those years ago. But with all this acquired power, not even she can stop me this time."
Celestia stepped forward as Luna and Cadence appeared next to her.
"How about all three of us?" Luna barked, glaring angrily at him.
"No…not even you!" Desolent shouted, reeling back his hooves to fire.
With a quick burst, the unicorn tossed the three royals to the sides, leaving Twilight and her friends open for the attack
"Twilight, do what you got to do!" Celestia yelled, crashing into the wall.
Twilight looked at Dark Fire but then it dawned on her. She threw away her element after she defeated Trixie and it was nowhere in sight. She looked back at her friends with a look of sadness and brokenness before glaring back at Desolent as he fired the blast.
"Celestia…I'm sorry…"Twilight whispered in tears, closing her eyes.
The next thing Twilight felt was Dark Fire pushing her to the side and taking the blast head on with his entire body. The broken prince screamed in pain as he absorbed the miasma and energy blast into him, preventing it from hurting anyone else but him.
"WHAT!" Desolent yelled, completely surprised.
"I might be evil to some and a hero to others, but one thing remains…they are my friends …and you can't take them away!"
Bringing his hooves up above his head, Dark Fire summoned up the same attack that Desolent used seconds and fired it back three times stronger. The green unicorn had no time to react as the blast hit him dead on, forcing him to crash into his pet dragon and explode on contact. After a few seconds, all the undead ponies in the room vanished along with the dragon. Desolent might have gone down, but he would diffidently return. However, a new problem was emerging.
The red aura Dark Fire had seconds before turned black as the dark pony started started to lose all control over his body.
"Twilight! The elements, now!" Dark Fire screamed, shaking as he lost control.
Twilight looked around frantically for her element, looking under every rock and crevasse she could see.
"Hey Twilight, you might need this!" Discord called, tossing her the elements.
Twilight caught the element in her mouth and put it on her head quickly, activating it's magic.
"Girls…lets end this war." Twilight said, getting into formation.
Twilight and her friends started to levitate as their elements glowed on their bodies, connecting the group with a color spectrum of bright colors. The six ponies eyes started to glow bright white and everypony watched in amazement. After several more seconds, the elements were fully charged and ready to go.
"DO IT TWILIGHT…DON'T HOLD BACK!" Dark Fire cried out, gripping his head in pain.
The magical energy of the elements was about to be fired at Dark Fire, but then something happened. Twilight was blasted out of the formation by a large blue beam of magic, canceling out the elements power and causing the other five to fall onto the ground abruptly. Everypony's eyes widened in shook when they saw who fired the blast.
"You thought…you could defeat Trixie so easily!" The showmare yelled, holding her wounds with her spare hoof.
Dark Fire looked right at Trixie with a look of complete horror and terror.
"Trixie….WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!"
Dark Fire suddenly screamed out in horror as black aura enveloped his body and form. Any light in the room was quickly snuffed out as the black aura around Dark Fire expanded ten times in size, causing the room to shake violently and knock over everypony in the room. The ground cracked around the pony as red lighting started to surround him and create a bubble, preventing any type of magic or energy from interrupting the transformation. As Dark Fire continued to scream, his voice became darker and more sinister. His teeth became pointed and sharp like razor blades as a huge tornado of darkness formed around his body.
Just when they thought it couldn't get worse, two large spikes burst out of the pony's back and unfolded like a fan, forming a set of wings in the shapes of spikes. The tips of the spikes started to shine bright red as the tips of Dark Fire's hair became black as his fur. Once that happened, the pony's hair formed into spikes on the back of his head, almost like a thorn bush on steroids. The pony's body also grew in size, making him twice as big as he was before as his fur hardened on his body, making it ruffled. In one final act, the aura, lighting, and tornado shot out throughout the arena, blasting all the ponies into the walls behind them.
The transformation had ended and all that remained on the arena floor was a monster surrounded by fire and black aura. When he opened his eyes, all they could see was a black void of suffering surrounded by a bright red ring of hatred and evil.
"What have I done…" Trixie whispered, collapsing to the floor.
Celestia regained her composure and glared at the others as they got up. There was no option left; they had to leave before it was too late.
"Everypony, we have to fall back!" She ordered.
"No, we still have a chance to defeat him here before he destroys everything we have fought so hard to protect!" Enderpearl said. "Endershine, we need to strike quick and hard, don't give him a chance to act."
Endershine nodded in agreement.
"NO! Don't do it!" Celestia pleaded as the two vanished from view.
As the black pony was observing his hoof, Enderpearl and Endershine appeared beside him and punched him right in the face with all their strength. The two alicorns then realized that the pony didn't even respond to their attack, continuing to look at his hoof. Enderpearl and Endershine punched him once again, this time in the neck…still no reaction. The two twins continued to pound, smash and bash the dark pony in hopes of damaging him but to no anvil. The two alicorns quickly leaped back and with their combined efforts, fired two magical blasts at the pony.
They both collided into the pony, sending up dust, debris and fire. But when the smoke cleared, he was still standing in the same place as if nothing had happened. The black pony set his hoof down and gazed up at Enderpearl slowly.
"My turn…"
The next thing Enderpearl knew was that a black hoof had jabbed him right on the back of his neck, propelling him into the ground like a comet. He glared at Endershine for a split second before appearing next to her and plowing his knee right into her stomach, launching her into the ceiling. The black pony landed onto the ground and glared at everypony else watching him.
"Who else would like to try…"
Sombra, Nightmare, Chrysalis, and the royals all fired at the black pony in one huge burst of light. The dark pony's wings shined bright red, quickly absorbing all of the magic that was shot at him. Once all of the magic was gone, the pony smiled softly.
"Is that all you have…"
It was now the diselements turn. Stritin and Eccentric ran at the black stallion while Ammisive and Maneful appeared behind him. Just before Castigate could find a role in the attack, the four ponies were already engaging the stallion in a fight. Sombra, Nightmare and Chrysalis quickly followed, adding their own attacks. The dark pony casually dodged all seven ponies attacking him as if he could predict their every move. With one quick burst, he shot back all the ponies around him and with one dash into the air, punched everypony once in the stomach, knocking them all out in seconds.
As Castigate took one step back, the black stallion appeared right in front of him with a wicked smile, showing his razor teeth before kicking him forward into the pile of rubble behind him. All that remained before the dark prince were the royals, Discord, and Twilight's friends. As the dark abomination walked forward, Discord surprisingly appeared in front of him.
"You know, there comes a time in life where you have to make the right decisions. Whether it be helping your friends, buying them a chocolate cake or simply distracting someone so they can get away!" Discord shouted, looking at the others.
Luna dashed towards Enderpearl and Endershine, picking them up with her magic and vanishing in a blink of an eye. Cadence teleported up to where Blue Blood was and teleported him away as well. Celestia appeared in front of Twilight and the others, charging up her horn.
"Get around me quickly!" She ordered.
The black pony became angered at what Discord had done and bound his hands and feet together with a magical binding. He then took a boulder and shoved it into his mouth to shut him before dashing past him and grabbing Twilight around the neck, taking her element off her head in the process.
"Twilight!" Everypony screamed before getting blasted away from the dark pony.
"Celestia, get the others out of here and-
Twilight was tossed to the side and slid into the metal wall, horn first. The purple pony cried out in agony, gripping her head in her hooves.
"Leave me here Celestia! Take my element and never come back!" She screamed, trying to stand.
"I'm not leaving you here, Twilight!" Rainbow yelled, dashing to her.
Celestia grabbed Rainbow's tail with her magic and pulled her into her close along with the others that tried to run out and help Twilight. As Twilights friends cried to be let go, Celestia gazed at Twilight for what she thought would be the last time with tearful eyes, taking her students element into her hooves.
"Twilight Sparkle…you were always a hero in my eyes and the bravest unicorn I have ever witnessed. You were like the daughter I never had and always obeyed my requests with a smile, never wanting to disappoint me. I never did show you my gratitude for what you did and could never thank you enough even if I tried…I am proud to have once call you my student...we will see each other again…" Celestia whispered, hearing the cries and screams of her friends. "I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough to protect you and I hope you could one day forgive me…goodbye…my faithful student…"
Her friends cried out one last time before the princess vanished without a trace, leaving her alone to face the black pony of death. The stallion walked up to Twilight and gazed down at her wickedly, charging a black ball into his hoof and raising it above his head.
"Your friends have abandoned you…and your people have betrayed you…you have lost…and you…have failed…"
Just as the black pony brought down his hoof to end Twilight, he was stopped mid-way…by a red hoof.
"LEAVE HER ALOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEE!" Night Shadow screamed.
Night Shadow exploded into a huge purple aura and punched the black pony away from Twilight and into a wall. Twilight's jaw dropped in amazement as the red pony stood before her, protecting her of all ponies, the very one that broke his heart months before. The black pony exploded form the wall and dashed to the middle of the arena in anger as Night Shadow slowly walked forward, gazing into the eyes of the darkness that once held his heart and mind hostage.
"Now the battle is outside for everyone to see. Are you satisfied, is this what you always wanted Night Shadow…because I've been waiting to free myself ever since we've meet. So now it's time to end this once and for all!" The dark pony yelled.
"You have held my body, mind and soul hostage for too long, preventing me from acting on my own whim and desires. You have forced me to take the lives of innocents, to betray the very ones that cared for me and tried to give me a better life! And now your hold on me is broken…I DON'T HAVE TO HOLD BACK ANY MORE!"
Night Shadow's purple aura expanded and covered the entire room with purple light as his hair and tail suddenly burst into a bright purple color. With one quick movement, Night Shadow uppercut the black pony in the jaw, sending him through the roof with a bang. The enraged red pony dashed after him in an explosion of purple light, flying through the hole in the roof. Twilight took this moment to try to get up and recover from what just happened. Just when she finally got back up to her hooves, the two fighters burst through the walls next to her, knocking her back down to the floor.
"Oh come on!" Twilight yelled, getting a face full of rubble.
Night Shadow and the dark unicorn fought each other at a hundred and ten percent, dishing out combos, energy attacks and magical outbursts in mere seconds. Twilight could do nothing but watch the two fighters as they continued to hammer at each other with whatever move came to their mind. The ground shook and the sky trembled, but one of them had to go down eventually. Seconds turned to minutes and it appeared that the two were evenly matched until Night Shadow struck the black fighter right in the gut, forcing him to bend over in pain. The red pony then rolled over the black pony's back, grabbed his long hair and slammed him right into the ground, caving in the entire floor.
"You think you're stronger than me just because you had me do all the work!" Night Shadow yelled, pinning the black pony to the ground. "Well I was the one that endured the pain and suffering for twenty-four years, not you! I was the one that trained to obtain this skill and power, not you! You are a parasite, a virus left behind by my enemy that only seeks to control!"
The red stallion placed his hoof roughly on the dark unicorns head and summoned all the power he had into his hoof.
"And it is because of this that you will be destroyed!"
Night Shadow suddenly felt sharp, stinging pains through his stomach as his power drained from his body. The red pony looked down in pain to witness the sharp blades of the pony's wings impaled all throughout his lower body, drawing his blood.
"NIGHT SHADOW!" Twilight cried out in terror, seeing his hooves droop down beside him.
The dark prince stood back up and laughed evilly as he shot volts of lightning and energy into the pony impaled on his back before throwing him across the floor beside Twilight. The dark stallion then pinned the two against the wall with his magic.
"Two star-crossed lovers...what a pitiful sight. Here you two are before me at the brink of life and you still try to oppose me." He said, looking back at Twilight. "Oh how I would enjoy killing both of you at this very moment…but alas, I have a different and more painful idea. I can't kill Night Shadow here because he is a part of me and I can't kill Twilight because I want to break her heart like she did to him. So why not just put you in prison for eternity? No…I want you to see the end result of my rule, to witness the horror of what I am capable of."
The black pony laughed at he shot both Twilight and Night Shadow with the exact same spell Celestia used to send Night Shadow forward in time.
"I will send you to the future where my words are law, where the people have no hope and where the sun never rises! You will return to a land full of misery and torment, full of war and destruction! It is there I will defeat anyone with ease and it is there that I will break the will of the most hopeful. The memories of your love will be ripped away to prove that it was never meant to be! YOU WILL BEG ME TO END YOUR LIVES, AND I WILL BE THE KING OF THE MY NEW EMPIRE FOREVER!"
"You can't win! You never can and never will!" Night Shadow yelled.
"But I already have!" The black pony said, laughing evilly.
