Jerry saw Peace fall down from the blow she received after she suddenly appeared in Nature's way. He saw Love attacking Deception. Then he felt hands around him that got him and Tom out of the way of a falling rock.
His senses told him that this chaos was the start of a war.
Around them there appeared figures. Some of them he knew and he could figure out that the rest were also gods. All of them were fighting. Colors and flying rocks went by.
Nature lunged at them once again, this time stopped by a large lion that attacked her.
Jerry looked behind him and saw George was the one that grabbed him earlier.
"George, what's happening?"
"The lion lady said you're in danger. That it started."
Jerry looked around. Tom was a few paces from them. Too far.
"We must take Tom and hide."
Innocence flew on her great wings in front of him.
"There is nowhere left to hide, Jerry. I'm sorry. This will end today."
"I thought you are on our side!"
"I am on your side. But not on his." She looked at Tom.
"I will not let you hurt him!"
"You are no match against a god." Justice said standing before him.
In one horrible moment Jerry thought he would attack them, but he fought with Innocence instead.
"Justice! Stop this! Look what happened because of that cat! He's our end, stop protecting him." Innocence sneered at him.
"I have a habit of protecting my friends."
But it appeared Innocence was winning the fight. Good thing they both forgot about Tom who lurked behind with the knife Pride gave them and stabbed the winged girl in the back.
"I have that habit too." He told Justice.
Justice didn't even have time to thank him as another god tried attacking Tom. Thankfully, Justice's senses were quick enough to shove him out of the way.
Pride appeared before Jerry and George in her human form.
"I would take you from here, but it's impossible."
"What do you mean?"
"We're closed in the paradise. Or more like in it's ruins."
"Aren't we on earth?"
"We are. They are in other dimensions, but the border crashed. We're in two places at once, one could say."
"What should we do?"
She looked at George with her golden eyes. After a flick of her wrist there no longer stood a boy by Jerry's side, but a lion.
"Protect yourselves. Move!"
She disappeared, to materialize herself again by Jealousy's side.
"George?" Jerry looked at the lion warily.
George answered by nuzzling his hand.
A second later they were running, because the earth under their feet crumbled.
In such a swirl of everything, it was hard to find Tom. Jerry's eyes always instinctually went to his lover, but now he couldn't locate him. For a moment he though he saw him, but the some woman attacked them, and George was jumping at her. She managed to throw him off, but it took her long enough for Jealousy to rescue them.
He noticed Tom, quite a bit further from them. Anything else seemed unimportant, as he stood from the ground and run in the cat's direction.
He supposed he had a lot of luck not getting hit by anything. He looked only ahead. He saw everything, even if he didn't understand it. But he was too slow.
Before his eyes Love fell down to the ground, dragging Deception with him. Deception shouted something. Nature, in some strange sort of trans, descended again upon the broken form of Peace. Tom was there. Tom was too close. He was close enough to jump before Peace. But his little dagger didn't help him this time. It flew out of his hand as Nature motioned with hers. Jerry was just a few steps from them. Enough to see how the dagger flew right into Tom's chest. Straight for the heart.
Afterwards he wasn't aware of anything except the body of Tom falling to the ground. He managed to catch it before, and fall with it. The second he looked into his lap, there was no longer a boy, but a body of a small, furry animal. But it wasn't moving.
"Tom!" He tried moving the little body. "Nobody dies so quickly! You can't just –" his voice broke, when he received no reaction.
He didn't know when the fight stopped, when Peace crawled to him, held his arm. He didn't register a lion sitting down next to him. He looked up in time to see Nature falling down to her knees before him, with horrible comprehension written on her face. He didn't know he cried, but his throat ached when he looked at Innocence and other gods around him and addressed them;
"I hope you're satisfied now."
