(3 days later)

Abel leaned away from the stack of documents that spread over his desk. He didn't know how Caterina expected him to finish all of it, or why Cain loved the blasted parchment that insisted on following Abel no matter what his occupation was… though to be truthful he finished everything within the first hour he got the papers a few days ago. Of course Abel had no plans on telling Caterina this, as such information in her hands could be the death of him.

Sighing, Abel removed his outer cassock and slipped on a coat. The sun had set no more than twenty minutes ago and as such it would be to the perfect time to meet with his source. Ever since returning to Milan, Caterina had been assigning him more missions than usual. It felt as if she was trying to work him to death. He had fewer hours of sleep, but it wasn't too bad. He just wished he could spend more time with his siblings and Lilith.

Opening the window of his room, Abel glanced at the door to ensure it was locked before jumping out and racing toward the gates. He only slowed down once he reached a few trees. It wouldn't be a good idea to appear out of nowhere, even if it was dark out there were still people roaming the streets.

As always his source was already at the designating meeting area. If Caterina wanted she could have arrested the young man for treason against the Vatican, however that wasn't Abel's mission. Today the young man wore a dark blue turtleneck with a black vest and silk pants. Abel stepped out of the shadows and pointed his gun (unloaded of course, but he needed to follow protocol) at the young man.

"Ec-eccle-lesia," the young man stuttered. "Ecclesia," he said again, knowing that even if he knew the right code it wouldn't help if he completely slaughtered it with his stuttering.

Abel nodded as he swiftly put his gun back in it's holster. "Have you found anything new?" Abel asked, his voice soft as to not scare the boy anymore.

The young man nodded his head fiercely with new determination. "F.D.M. is still searching for a way to over throw C.S. and has already sent his men to investigate the two angels who were reported fleeing from Prague…"

"Anything else?"

"No sir."

"Tomorrow we won't be meeting. I'll contact you if I need anything else," Abel said as he reached into his coat and withdrew an envelope and handed it to the boy.

Abel needn't say anything else as the two parted ways. The report was nothing new… or at least nothing C.S./Caterina needed to worry about. . or Francisco di Medici was only doing the usual; trying to over throw Caterina's power. From the sound of it he also sent his inquisition to the base where 02 and 01 had been, but that was to be expected. The man hated heretics and was probably sending his men there to stop the rumors of 'angels.'

Racing back to the estate, Abel reported everything to Caterina.

"That's reassuring. Thank you Abel," Caterina said. "I'll be returning to Rome tomorrow and your sister has agreed to drop me off. I understand that you want time to be with your family, due to your work ethics, I've agreed to allow you a vacation."

"Agreed?" Abel said and raised an eye brow. "Agreed with who?" He never asked for a vacation, what was all of this about? Though spending time with his family sounded nice he didn't like where this was going.

"She agreed with me!" Abel turned to the source of the voice; Seth.

"Caterina-" Abel began but was interrupted by his sister.

"At least hear me out first," Seth huffed before grinning. "I haven't been out of the empire in ages, Abel, and from what I heard you haven't enjoyed any sights since you met Caterina. So we're going sight seeing! We'll make a few stops in different places on the continent before ending in the empire. From there you'll meet the empress and set up a future appointment with her and lady Caterina."

"Seth, I can't," Abel looked at Caterina hopefully.

The Woman of Steel gave Abel a look that dared him to argue. "I think it's a great idea, Abel," she said.

"It'll be fun," Seth stated. "Even the professor is coming!"

An hour later Seth was standing before Abel, ready to depart. Even Thomas was there, though he kept glancing around almost nervously. The only person who was missing was Cain.

"Where is he?" Seth huffed and looked around.

"I think he's on the roof, asleep. No one told him about this as it is," Thomas said and pointed towards the rooftop.

"I'll get him," Abel sighed. As long as his brother didn't decide to take a dip in the ocean, Abel was fine with it. Sighing, Abel easily scaled the mansion and landed on the roof. "Cain, wake up. We're going on a trip" to the empire. Abel still had a hard time saying it, hell he even had a hard time believing it.

Cain mumbled something in his sleep and rolled over.

Abel rolled his eyes. "Wake up, brother. Or do I need to push you off the roof?" Abel gently nudged his brother's shoulder.

Cain grumbled and batted Abel away.

What kind of dream was Cain having anyway? Oh well, Abel could ask him later. "You asked for it," Abel smirked and he shoved Cain off the roof. Now that he thought of it, it was a long drop down being over three stories high... Abel winced as he heard his brother slam into the ground. Honestly he expected Cain to wake up the minute Abel shoved him.

"ABEL!" the shriek sounded from below, showing Cain had woken.

"Yes?" Abel asked innocently and looked over the edge.

"Get down here," Cain snarled as he picked himself off the ground. The tone of voice stated he really wanted to kill Abel right then.

Abel jumped down, landing a good distance away from Cain. "I think we should go. We're keeping the others waiting," Abel said nervously as he pointed toward Seth's air ship.

"Waiting? Waiting for what?"

"We're going to drop Caterina off at the Vatican then start heading over to the empire as we go sightseeing," Abel informed him.

"Joy, can I join Caterina instead?" he asked and added in a mutter, "And not have been waken by a fall."

"I don't think that would be a good idea," Abel answered, thinking of Caterina's older brother. "And I did warn you. It's your own fault for not waking up."

"I was trying to catch up on sleep," Cain stated as they neared the group.

"If you say so."

Seth raised an eyebrow at her two brothers. Everyone else already loaded the ship. "What was that about?" Seth questioned.

"Nothing important," Cain mounted the ramp, saying, "I'm going back to sleep."

"What?" Seth's mouth hung open as she followed after her brother with Abel taking to the back. "You've been sleeping more than anyone else and you're tired?" she asked incredulously.

"I didn't sleep the whole time 01 and 02 had me. I would like to sleep now," he grumbled.

"Fine," Seth sighed. "You can take the room next to mine. But you're going to wake up when we get to Barcelona."

Cain grunted to show he'd heard before vanishing from sight.

Abel sighed, "how long until we reach the vatican?"

"Less than an hour, why?" Seth asked.

"Just asking."

Seth raced ahead of Abel, whipped around, and stopped before him. This forced Abel to stop walking. "Hey, want to play a trick on Cain and get him to stay up with us, instead of wasting away the day." There was a hope in her large, jade-green eyes. It was apparent she really wanted time with both her brothers. What was also apparent was whatever trick she had in mind would tick Cain off.

"And how exactly do you expect to trick him?" Abel asked.

"Well," - Seth placed her hand on her chin - "We could rig something so that once we're out of the room it dumps water or something on him. That'll get him out of bed for sure!"

"Alright, I'm in but you're taking the blame for it... And we should use coffee not water."

"Coffee? Hopefully cold coffee," Seth stated. "I really don't want him getting burned."

Abel nodded, "whatever works best."

"Okay this way!"

"You know he's not going to be happy right?" Abel asked as he followed Seth down one if the corridors.

Seth stopped and nodded, her eyes on her shoes. "But this is the only chance I get at getting to know how Cain would've been if I never fused him with 01. I want to spend every second I can with him."

"Then what are we doing standing around? We should start setting your plan into action," Abel grinned mischievously.

Seth grinned and, taking hold of Abel's hand, raced down the hallway. "Come on then!"

Abel chuckled as he followed after his sister. A few twists and turns later, and Seth stopped at the entrance of one of the room. "We can use everything here to get Cain to wake up... But we'll need to go to the kitchen for coffee," she said.

"So we're really going to make a contraption to wake him up? Why not just dump a bucket of coffee over his head?"

Seth eyed him. "It's to avoid his rage when he wakes. We can run for it before he gets out of the room." She nodded and grinned.

"He wasn't that bad when I shoved him off the roof. He didn't even hit me," Abel stated as he reached for a coil of wires.

"I would rather not risk it." Seth gathered up a bucket to fill with coffee. "I don't want him to hate us. I just want to spend time with him and you and Lilith and Aran as a full family again."

"Alright, I see what you mean. It would be great to be a family again."

Seth and Abel started to set up the trap. Seth vanished for a time before returning with massive amount of warm coffee. "I think we should let it cool a little more before dumping it on him."

"Let's set up everything in the room, while we're waiting. He's a heavy sleeper so he shouldn't notice us," Abel agreed as he picked up the bucket and several other part of the trap.

Seth grinned and ran to help them. It didn't take long to get it setup, so much so the coffee hadn't cooled. Seth squatted down and watched Cain sleeping. He wasn't sleeping on the bed at all which would limit the mess at the very least. He was curled up on the floor with a blanket over him.

"He almost looks cute like this," Seth whispered.

Abel needed to bite his tongue to hold back a snicker. "The coffee's still warm but its not hot enough to burn."

Seth sighed and stood. She made a show of smoothing her small skirt and the striped pants she wore under it before walking over to Abel. "All right, let's get this going."

Grabbing the trigger, Abel followed Seth out of the room. "The honor is all yours," Abel chuckled as he handed the string to Seth.

Seth took a deep breath and closed her eyes, muttering, "Please don't be too mad, Cain." She then tugged the wire. A loud crash sounded.

"What the hell?!" Cain exploded as the coffee no doubt drenched him.

"Run," Seth hissed before she bolted down the hall.

"H-hey Seth," Abel began through his laughter as he tore after his sister. "We should have video taped it."

Seth's eyes widened, "But then he'd figure out it was us."

"True. But we'd also have blackmail and we would have seen his reaction."

"Just hearing it was-" Seth cut off and turned.

Following her gaze, Abel saw a drenched Cain appear in the hall behind them. "Who... did... this?" he gasped through the rage that flashed in his eyes and all too apparent in curve of his mouth. "And where did they go?"

At that Abel couldn't hold in his laughter anymore and held his stomach. "Cain, y-you look l-like a drenched cat!" Abel said between laughter but the look Cain gave him was pure anger. "Ah... I need to go." Abel took of sprinting after Seth.

Cain growled and stocked off, muttering about needing to find dry cloths.

Abel shook his head as he slowed down into a light jog. He hasn't had so much fun in ages! "Seth, Cains looking for some clothes. You should give him some before he gets even more upset."

"Good idea," Seth said with nod before she raced off to find their brother some dry cloths.

Not ten minutes passed when Seth came running back with a bundle of clothes in her arms. "I think this should do," she stated.

"You think? Seth that's enough to fill a wardrobe," Abel said as he rolled his eyes and began heading back in Cains direction.

"Now we need to find where he's gotten off to."

Abel nodded as he followed the trail of coffee in the hallways. His brother was leaving a mess. Going down a few more doors, Abel took a step to the side to allow Seth to be ahead of him.

"Cain, I've got some clothes that's should fit you," Seth stated as she smiled up at him.

Cain poked his head out of a room and snagged up the clothes. "Thanks," he muttered before vanishing back into the room.

"Hey Cain, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out with me and Abel," Seth called through the door.

Cain grumbled. "Fine, not like anyone's going to let me sleep as it is."

"Yes!" Seth cheered as she began bouncing on her feet. Impatient for Cain to change. The minute The door opened, Seth linked arms with both Cain and Abel and began tugging them toward one of the larger rooms.

Cain grunted, looking tired as he let Seth drag him along. "Just no swimming. The chemicals hurt."

"What makes you think we're going to go swimming?"Seth asked then shook her head. "Abel hates swimming, so no, we aren't going swimming."

Cain blinked, then laughed. "Of course you wouldn't make him swim."

"Why would I do that?" Seth asked. "I mean if he wanted to, then sure, but I don't think he wants to be in any body's of water anytime soon."

Abel sighed in relief. "Glad that's settled."

Cain blinked in shock at Seth before he smiled. "I'd say it's a relief," he laughed.

Seth gave Cain an even wider smile. "On ward!" She cheered as she tugged both twins forward faster, forcing them into a light jog. She released them once she was before a screen. "So, I convinced lady Caterina to let Abel off for a vacation... But I didn't really plan it," she stated this part sheepishly as she rubbed the back of her neck. "I mean all I planned was for us to go to Barcelona then the empire, but I have no clue what we're going to do there!"

"Errr, what do people do on vacation?" he asked shifting his weight from one foot to the next and no looking at either of them.

"Read,"Abel answered. "Or sleep," he shrugged.

Seth huffed as she turned the screen on. "I swear you two are the most clueless people in the entire world! Look here," she pointed at the screen. "People eat, rent hotels, go sight seeing, buy things... They're tourists! See? So we're going to Barcelona to be tourists."

"Why would we do any of that when we don't need to?" Abel questioned. They already had food on the ship, as well as rooms. Sighting seeing when he didn't need to infiltrate sounded like a waste of time, and he saw no purpose of buying anything if he didnt need it. Besides, Abel only had four dinars in his pocket.

Cain sighed and sat down on the floor. "All right, I got the point."

"Great, so where did you guys want to go?" Seth asked as she enlarged a certain area on the screen.

Cain sighed. "What part of 'I don't know what we're supposed to do' do you not get? I've never been on a vacation in my life." Leaning against the wall, Cain gave her a small, tired smile. "How about you choose?"

Seth sighed and sat down before sheepishly admitting, "I haven't had a vacation either. Being empress isn't exactly a stroll in the park. In the past eight centuries I haven't left the empire at all. The closest I ever got was to the border and that was just to check the shields! Abel, do you have any ideas?"

"We should ask someone else on the ship," Abel stated. "Caterina should know of something."

Just as he said that, Caterina rounded the corner and raised her eyebrow at Abel. "What should I know?" she asked, monocle flashing in the light.

"We were wondering what to do on a vacation," Cain stated, his eyes half closed.

Caterina's widened as she smirked at Abel and the others in understanding. "I believe there's a carnival this month, you three could go there. I suggest going at night when it's cooler but its more crowded. Barcelona is also known for their restaurants. If you like I could arrange for a table."

"Yes! Thank you, Caterina!" Seth grinned at the younger woman, eyes shinning.

Cain mumbled something and looked more than half asleep.

"Is he okay?" Caterina asked as she nodded toward Cain.

"Errr, he's had enough coffee to wake the dead," Seth stated with sniff. "I don't know why he's so sleepy." The words were an out right lie. Abel could tell by the tone of her voice and the worried look in her eye.

"He didn't have much sleep when he was captured, he's just trying to catch up on it," Abel added, trying to get Caterina out of the room so he could talk to his brother.

"We can talk more in the other room," Seth said with a smile at Caterina and a worried glance at Cain. She and Caterina vanished from sight.

Abel rounded on Cain, his condition was worse than he thought. Why didn't he say anything sooner!? "Come on, we need to get some blood into you," Abel stated as be reached for Cain's arm and helped him stand up straight.

"I'm fine," Cain jerked away from Abel. The look in his eyes told a different story. It was plain that Cain didn't want to harm Abel's son. "I'll ask Seth for something to eat," he muttered.

"Regular food isn't going to do much, and you know it," Abel stated as he jerked Cain forward again. "I'm sure Seth has some blood laying around. If not Aran won't mind..." He said the last part as an after thought.

"I'm going to drink your son's blood!" Cain snapped, jerking away from Abel. He looked away from Abel. "He means the world to you and I refuse to harm him."

"You're not drinking straight from him!" Abel yelled back. He wasn't that reckless! Even Abel knew better than to drink straight from a living methuselah with the condition Cain was in. "We'll only go to Aran if there's nothing else on the ship, and if that's the case we'll draw some blood from him like he did last time." Abel took Cain by the shoulder before his brother could retreat back to the wall.

After a while Abel sniffed the air once they got to the kitchen. There was a faint smell of a methuselah, but it wasn't as pronounced as many other methuselah were. "Hey Cain, how old is Asthe?" asked Abel, out of curiosity as he began shifting through the cabinets and refrigerator for any signs of blood.

"In her late teens, early twenties... way too young," Cain stated. He sat down, not helping in the search for blood as he rested his head against his knees. "Why?"

"I'm not sure I'd trust her to keep her new found strength in check when she awakens..." Abel stated. It was a good thing she was partnered up with Cain and not a human who would be prone to her strength. After a while Abel frowned and closed the cabinet, "there's nothing here. I cold have sworn Seth had a stash of blood."

Cain grunted. "Be careful how long we talk about this. She might randomly decide to appear," Cain stated in a light voice.

As if on some unspoken cue, Asthe entered the kitchen. "What are you two looking for?" she demanded.

"Water."

Asthe raised an eyebrow as if saying, 'yeah right,' before going to the fridge and grabbing an orange. "There's water right there," she pointed to the sink. Asthe eyed the two of them as if knowing that they were keeping something from her. Rolling her eyes, Asthe snatched a knife and began pealing the orange.

Abel sighed as he went to fill a glass of water, not wanting her to get even more suspicious. "I think you jinxed us," Abel muttered to Cain just as he heard a slight hiss from Asthe, and the overwhelming aroma of methuselah blood made Abel spin on his heels.
