The wind blowed calmly throughout the Candy Kingdom. Princess Bubblegum was strolling down the halls of the castle and humming to herself. Everything seemed to be going back to normal again. Finn was back home as well as Marceline, crime had gone down by fifteen percent in the last few months, she had a new and very experienced knight by her side and now she finally had time to relax instead of overburdening herself. Life was looking better within these castle walls. She continued to make her way through the castle and finally exited through a door which led to the castle gardens. Princess Bubblegum made her way over to a small white table and sat down on a chair. Someone was sitting there waiting for her already.
"You're pretty early." She said with a giggle.
"Better to be early than late." The person chuckled.
Peppermint Butler approached the two and quickly called for the princess' attention.
"Princess! You have a message."
"A message? From who?" She questioned.
"The Fire Kingdom."
Princess Bubblegum took a sip from her teacup. Peppermint Butler looked at her, waiting for her response.
"Do you know what they want?" She asked him.
"Not exactly but I'm sure it's something." The butler sighed as he placed the orange envelope on the small table.
Princess Bubblegum picked up the envelope and opened it. She squinted her eyes as she began to read it. After a while she spoke.
"Hmm.. this is quite a peculiar request."
"What is it?" Peppermint Butler asked.
"She wishes for us to have another meeting."
"Perhaps something of grave importance has come up and she needs your advice?" The candy servant suggested.
"No. She's had her own problems before and she's never asked me for any advice."
"Princess, please have more trust in your friends." He said.
"Friends? I'm pretty sure she despises me, Pep-But." She laughed.
"And if she doesn't?"
"Then that'll be a miracle."
She continued to read it and while she did she could sense that something was off. The new Flame King never was one to take favor in diplomatic affairs, that much was true, but Bonnibel couldn't think of a reason as to why Phoebe would want to meet her in person. Eventually she finished reading the letter.
"I want you to let her know that I wish to meet her as well then."
"Of course." Peppermint Butler said as he made his way out of the gardens.
She sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose.
"What do you think about this, Logan?"
Logan of course was sitting across from her. He'd been silent the entire time the two were talking but by no means did that mean he had nothing to say.
"About?" He asked.
"This whole situation with the Fire Kingdom."
He let out a low chuckle and rubbed his neck.
"I don't really think it'd be my place to say. I'm just a knight."
"Oh don't be like that."
"Be like what?" He asked.
"Just tell me what you think."
He sighed.
"I think this whole thing reeks."
"Pffft. I know that Einstein. I mean why do you think she's doing this?"
"I don't know her that well. So I can't say. But it is more than likely she has some ulterior motive behind this so you're going to have to be ready for what comes." Logan told her.
Princess Bubblegum smiled and took another sip of her tea.
"I'm always ready. Besides, I've got you now."
"About that.." He mumbled.
Logan took a sip of his tea and set his cup back down. Bubblegum sighed and placed her cup on the table.
"Hm?" She perked up.
"Why did you choose me to be your new permanent knight? What happened to Finn?" He asked her.
Bubblegum nearly choked on her tea at the sudden question but managed to keep her composure and poker face on.
"What do you mean?" She questioned him.
"Why did he leave?"
Finn woke up in his bed slowly. He felt an arm draped over him and nearly freaked out. He looked over and saw Marceline's face. He let out a sigh and breathed slowly. Some drool was leaking out of her mouth. He wiped it off with his thumb and slowly unwrapped her arm from around him. He smiled and got off the bed. Marceline opened her eyes and sat up, stretching her arms out a bit.
"We need to tell them, Finn." Marceline said to him
"I don't think they'll handle it well. It's bad enough that they just found out I got back. Adding that to everything will make things worse." He said.
"So we're just gonna lay around and do nothing?" Marceline asked.
"I didn't say that."
"So what are we gonna do?"
"We'll wait for a bit, see what happens and then tell Bubblegum." He said.
Marceline floated out of the bed and sighed. Finn looked over to her and took in the lovely sight.
"You know, I haven't seen much of Jake around since we came back. It's been like a month." Marceline said.
"He's vacationing with Lady. I forgot where though." Finn replied.
He jumped down the ladder leading to the living room and landed gracefully. Marceline simply floated on down. Finn sat down on the couch and sighed. He looked around as Marceline started digging through the fridge. The rune markings on Finn's arm were shining violet and he could sense something surging inside him. Marceline turned around and saw his arm glowing. She hovered right next to him.
"What's with your arm?" She asked.
"I don't know. It's being weird."
She held his arm and closely inspected it.
"I still kind of can't wrap my head around this whole.. thing with your arm." She said.
"Me neither.." He replied.
"I'm just glad you're back."
"Yeah, me too.."
Finn stood up. Marceline looked into his blue eyes and smiles. He leaned forward and kissed her, catching her off guard.
"Finn, what are you..doing?" She said while becoming visibly flustered.
He kissed her again. She squeaked and kissed him back. The kiss went on for several seconds before Finn slowly broke away from the kiss.
"Oh no you don't." Marceline said as she pushed him down on to the couch.
It was his turn to blush. She climbed on to his lap and kissed him deeply. Finn was caught off guard by her impulsive behavior and started to giggle a bit.
"You have no idea how much I missed you." Marceline said lowly.
The house phone started to ring. Silence fell amongst them.
"Should we answer it?" Finn asked.
Marceline placed a hand on her chin pretending to think.
"Hmm.. nah."
She leaned back down and kissed him as the phone continued to ring.
"Marcy.."
"What?" She breathed against him.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"For leaving." He sighed softly.
Marceline eased up and looked at him.
"Finn, it's okay."
He looked down. She picked his head up slightly.
"I'm sorry for hurting you." She apologized.
He leaned in for a kiss and met her lips. She melted into it. He brought her closer and kissed her even deeper. She let out a sharp breath as he laid her on to the couch and crawled on top of her.
"I forgive you."
A knock on the front door snapped them out of the moment.
"I'll get it." Finn grumbled.
Marceline frowned as he walked over to the front door. She sat up on the couch and let out a huff. She could hear Jake's voice come from the front door.
"Finn, I've missed you buddy!"
"I missed you too, Jake."
She could hear them making their way to her so she turned invisible.
"So what were you doing here all alone?" Jake asked Finn as they walked into the kitchen.
Finn looked around and noticed Marceline was nowhere to be seen.
"Uh.. nothing. Just.. you know. Relaxing."
"Well I'm glad you're finally taking it easy after that whole thing with.. you know."
A book flew and nabbed Jake in the back of the head.
"Hey!"
"That wasn't me!" Finn cried.
"Then who was it?" Jake questioned.
"It was me, you dweeb." Marceline said as she became visible.
"Marceline? Finn, I thought you said you were here alone?"
"I didn't say that!"
"If she's here that means you two were here alone! What were you two doing?" He pressed Finn.
Finn's cheeks darkened.
"Nothing! We were just hanging out."
"We were making out before you so rudely interrupted us." Marceline smiled.
"Finn!" Jake gasped loudly.
Finn looked at Marceline and then at Jake.
"I.. uh.. I.." He stammered.
Marceline flew next to him and kissed his cheek.
"Deal with it." She spoke smugly.
The house filled with Jake's shouts and Marceline's laughter as Finn let a smile play on his face.
It's been way too long. I know this isn't exactly a full chapter but I wanted to get something out here. I didn't mean to be gone for so long but.. life is quite a conundrum. A lot has happened to me in the last several months. A lot. I lost people close to me, got a new job, my own first apartment and so much more. I won't go into too much detail but I just wanted to let you all know that the reason for my months long hiatus on this website was because of things beyond my control. I assure you all that I will do my best to update this story more often but there is no guarantees. I can only give you my word. I'm in a better place than I was back then but even now things are tough still. Anyways, I just wanted to say those things and I guess mark my comeback into the realm of Adventure Time fan fiction. I'm back guys.
If you have any comments or question feel free to put them into a review or pm me. Thanks for reading!
