ONE LAST DANCE
Two teenagers were madly in love but life got in the way. One knew what the future held or them while the other didn't want to think about it. Sure this caused a little rift in the relation go but nothing hey couldn't work out, right? Well this would ultimately be the one thing that would tear them apart.
A boy sat in the airport waiting for his departure. He was doing what he needed to do, not what he wanted to but there was nothing he could do about it now. But there was one reason to survive and make it home. The sole reason was for a girl as she was the love of his life and as the past years came flooding back into his mind, it all started with what happened 10 months ago.
Flashback: Everything was different and started to go downhill. The girl was all set for college applications while the boy ignored that all together and lied to the girl or better known as his girlfriend about them and when his girlfriend found out and questioned him about it, it turned into a fight as tears were now in his girlfriend's hazel eyes as he couldn't believe he made her cry because she was the strongest girl he knew. She ran out of his house and he knew it was over.
Day, weeks and months later his girlfriend or now ex-girlfriend was still on his mind. Never in his wildest dreams would he ever want to hurt her but he did; he broke her heart. He was so lost and knew everything happens for a reason and just fall apart but he was determined for one night; to make things between them right before he left.
He would ask her to wait up, wait for him and give him one more chance. To make up, make up for all the horrible things that happened and to just have one last dance.
End flashback
A sad smile appeared on the buys face as he thought about the beginning and where it all started.
Flashback: Freshman year they met and didn't get along at all. The girl Kim Crawford had her whole life planed out. She started dancing at a young age, excelled in her academics and in high school became the student body president and then it was off to college.
The boy, Jack Brewer was a smart kid who had no direction in life. He didn't know what to do when he got older but the one thing he knew he could do was follow in all the Brewer mens' footsteps and since he didn't know what else to do, he was leaning pretty close to that.
Kim knew what kind of guy Jack was and Jack knew girls like Kim. They found it beneficial to just stay as far away as possible from each other and it worked. Sophomore year arrived and thing were going great. They were going to keep their distance again but through some unfortunate circumstances they became science partners; for the whole year.
They were both upset because their plan of avoiding each other did not work but they just sucked up and went with it. The one thing they never expected was to fall in love; but they did.
Boys were never mentioned in Kim's plans as her parent thoughts they would be a distraction and Jack was all set for his plan until Kim made him think differently.
Jack and Kim's relationship started out good. They were happy and taught each other things about life. Kim taught Jack about the joy of looking to the future and having something set and Jack taught Kim about having fun and just going with the flow sometimes.
And now it was graduation day. Jack couldn't believe he survived and till this day there were words that have been etched in his brain for 2 years and words he hoped were true. His ex-best friend and ex girlfriend saying, "we'd be friends till the end' and Jack really wanted to start that again.
Jack wished Kim would wait for him and give him one more chance to make up for everything he screwed up. He just needed one last dance.
He remembered a few months before graduation he heard from friends that Kim was heading to New York and he knew he had to act fast. He wanted and needed to make peace with Kim so when she thought of him she would smile instead of frown and he would do the same.
He just needed Kim wait for him and give him a chance to make up for everything in the past. He just needed one last dance.
He begged Kim to wait up, to please wait up and give him one more chance, just one song and then he will move on with this life but he just needed one last dance with her.
End flashback
Jack was sitting there waiting for his flight to be called. He had about 30 minutes, so he closed his eyes and instantly he heard his name but didn't move, thinking it was all in his head but he kept hearing it so he opened his eyes and saw familiar brown eyes and blonde hair running towards him. He instantly sat up and just stared in awe of the girl frantically running towards him.
Jack stood up as the blonde girl ran into his arms, hugging him tightly. Jack returned the action as he tightened his grip on her waist.
A few minutes later, Kim pulled back and was messing around with her phone. Jack was confused by the actions but as soon as it entered his mind it left as Kim grabbed his hands and he heard the music playing. He suddenly realized what was happening. His wish was coming true and after this he knew his life was complete because as the two swayed together he knew no matter what, he was going to come home because this moment proved that he has something to come home to as he finally got his dance.
Two and half years later, a buffer and more mature man arrived back in Seaford and the number one thing on this mind was finding the reason he came home and knew exactly where to go as he took off to the local news station.
As he was walking in everyone smiled and nodded their appreciation for his service. Then he saw her. She was frantically reading over something while watching something else on the computer. He walked up and gently knocked on her door, breaking her concentration as her eyes were as big as saucers. She blinked a few times and then jumped up and embraced the guy in a tight hug and whispered into his chest, "You came home".
The guy smiled and replied, "Of course I did. I came back for you. I love you Kim".
"I love you too Jack", Kim answered with tears running down her cheek.
And from that moment on they knew everything was going to be just fine. He got the love of his life and the one thing he needed to survive. He got his...ONE LAST DANCE.
