I do not own, that would be Rick Riordan.
Thanks for all the reviews, favourites and follows that I have received for the last chapter and the story. Oh and forthose for Visit to the Past.
Now I know I said I would update in July (I'm only a month late and I did update Road Trip and Other Activities) I moved and got sick and had work issues.
I will never move again. It rained on moving day. I think Zeus didn't like the outfit- Pink poka dots.
So on with the story.
Chapter 20: The Maze Begins and Cheerleaders.
"So Luke and the Titan army are going to attack camp, how are they going to get past the magical boarders?" asked Hermes.
"That is the question that will be answered…..Tomorrow," said Percy as they all realised that the sun was due to set and the moon to rise.
"Oh, I can't wait till then," whined Apollo as his sister left to do her duties. All the gods soon left the throne room discussing what they had learnt from the previous story. The demi-gods left the throne room and headed to their house on Olympus. It had been decided that they would have a quiet night in. Nico had gone straight to his room and was hiding out, being gloomy.
"Nico come out and join the fun," said Percy coming into the room and frowning when he noticed him curled up on the bed.
"I don't want to," said Nico.
"Stop being gloomy and come on," said Percy grabbing the pillow out from under Nico's head.
"Hey," exclaimed Nico "give me back my pillow."
"Okay," said Percy hitting Nico in the head with the pillow in his hands but not giving it up.
"PERCY," whined Nico sitting up. He received another hit from the pillow. Nico glared at the older boy who laughed and swang the pillow again. Nico grabbed the end and a short tug-a-war occurred, however Nico was no match for Percy and the pillow was pulled out of his hands. Percy was still laughing as he again hit Nico. By now Nico was standing between the two beds, he reached over and grabbed the pillow from Percy's bed.
"Oh, what are you going to do with that?" challenged Percy.
"This," said Nico and swang the pillow at Percy. That was the catalyst for an all out war. The Stolls entered the room looking for Percy.
"PILLOW FIGHT," shouted Travis as he and Connor reached into their pockets and pulled out pillows. Percy and Nico wondered how the pillows fitted into their pockets but were distracted from the thoughts when they were assaulted but the brothers. The fight was soon in the hallway where they were joined by Chris two pillows in his hands.
The fight soon moved into the sitting room. Clarisse grabbed a cushion from the sofa when a pillow fit her in the head.
"Prissy you are so dead," shouted Clarisse, not caring that the pillow hadn't even been thrown by Percy (Chris would later admit that the pillow was thrown by him). Thalia who had also been sitting on the sofa with Clarisse had also grabbed a cushion and was attacking the boys. The yells of joy and shouts of pain soon drew the rest of the demi-gods into the fight. Percy soon found himself being attacked by both Clarisse and a very angry red head (Rachel still hadn't forgiven him for calling her a weirdo).
Katie was attacking Travis and Connor (naturally) with the help of Thalia and Annabeth. Will and Chris were helping the brothers with a counter attack. Nico was running around swinging his pillow at anyone, a huge smile plastered on his face. Spare pillows and cushions had become missiles and that usually hit unsuspecting targets.
The sound of ripping material was soon heard.
"You just ripped my pillow," shouted one of the Stoll brothers. Feathers and stuffing flew into the air joining the pillows and cushions which had become flying projectiles in the fight.
All the participants stopped startled, as a large crack of thunder sounded. Standing at the door was Lord Zeus.
"WHAT IS GOING ON IN HERE?" asked Zeus.
"A pillow fight?" answered Thalia rolling her eyes at her father. Zeus sent his daughter a disapproving look, which Thalia ignored.
"Look at this mess," said Zeus and the group looked around the room. Cushions were scattered all over the room, one was even stuck in the chandelier. One of the sofas was on its side and feathers and stuffing were also scattered around the room and in certain people's hair.
"Oops," said Rachel.
"You were not brought up in a pigsty, clean up this mess," said Zeus and he stormed out of the room.
"How does he know we weren't?" asked Travis.
"Weren't what?" asked a confused Katie.
"That we weren't brought up in a pigsty," said Travis. The only response back was half a dozen pillows thrown at him. With a lot of grumbling they cleaned the area. Percy, Chris, Travis and Connor lifted Katie up to get the cushion stuck in the chandelier, mainly because she was the lightest after Nico who had refused to be lifted into the air saying that they would drop him.
"So much for a quiet night in," said Annabeth once they had finished.
"Who started the fight?" asked Thalia.
"It was fun," said Nico a huge smile plastered on his face.
Everyone looked towards the Stoll brothers, who looked at each other and then pointed to Percy and Nico.
"Percy started it," they dobbed.
"At least it got someone out of his room," said Percy pulling Nico into a head lock and ruffling his hair. All the older demi-gods laughed at Nico's face before they headed to bed.
The next morning they all met back in the throne room after breakfast. The routine was that they began the story telling at nine. The demi-gods were seated on the chairs provided. Percy was sitting with Annabeth and Rachel.
"So Camp Half-Blood is going to be attacked. How do Luke and the enemy army think they are going to get past the borders?" asked Athena.
"This story takes place in summer. It however doesn't begin at camp, it begins at a school orientation day," said Percy.
"Orientation at the start of summer," said a number of shocked people.
"It was Goode High and was where Paul taught," said Percy.
"I wonder what he did to convince them to accept you into the school?" asked Athena.
"Why would he need to convince them, my son isn't that bad," said Poseidon.
"He has been kicked out of every school he has ever attended; and destroyed one gym and a bus," said Apollo.
"What do you do to the school this time?" asked Poseidon with a sigh.
"Nothing….," replied Percy.
"What about when we met up, was that nothing?" asked Annabeth.
"Oh that's right, you left camp to meet up with Percy and bring him back to camp," said Clarisse.
"Wasn't Percy expected the following day?" asked Travis.
"Yes- he and Annabeth were going on a date," said Clarisse. Aphrodite squealed.
"It wasn't a date, we were just seeing a movie," said Percy.
"She travelled all the way from camp and you were going alone together," pointed out Connor.
"Annabeth thought it was a date," pointed out Rachel and she wasn't corrected by Annabeth.
"Anyway I was about to get out of the car when I noticed someone talking to Paul on the school steps," said Percy.
"Who was that?" asked Demeter.
"It was a redheaded night mare… Ouch …." Said Percy as Rachel slapped him over the head- with a paint pallet. Percy really had to stop calling her names.
"Why am I a nightmare? I'm just a mortal," asked Rachel.
"You are a clear-sighted mortal who can see through the mist better than Percy," said Thalia.
"And you are smarter than him as well," said Clarisse.
"I tried to avoid her, by entering the side entrance but that wasn't successful," said Percy ignoring the glaring Oracle, "Two cheerleaders were waiting to ambush freshmen, it was the only time cheerleaders have been nice to me."
"Not all cheerleaders are mean girls who look down their noses at everyone," said Aphrodite with a frown. Many of her children were cheerleaders as it combined beauty and fitness.
"One of the cheerleaders was blonde with icy blue eyes, the other named Kelli was African American with dark curly hair like Medusa's and smelled like roses and freshly washed horses," Percy informed the group.
"Smelt like horses?" questioned Hades while Athena seemed to be contemplating ideas.
"They called me fish and told me that they were waiting for me," said Percy.
"Uh-oh, that's not good," said Zeus.
"My hand went to my pocket where Riptide was but Paul saw me and called me from down the hall. In my attempt to get away from them I accidentally kneed Kelli in the thigh, which made a hollow metallic sound," informed Percy.
"Did she have an artificial leg?" asked Hermes.
"Nope her leg looked normal to me and everyone else," said Percy cryptically.
"What happened with Paul?" asked Hera trying to move the story along.
"He greeted me, and tried to relieve my 'nerves' by explaining that the school dealt with many children with ADHD and Dyslexia and knew how to help," said Percy.
"If only that was your only problems," said Rachel.
"That was when the redhead noticed me and I quickly ran to the gym where the orientation was," Percy informed the group.
"I managed to catch up to Percy and grabbed his shoulder, shocked that he remembered my name," said Rachel, "But annoyed that I didn't know his, considering he had tried to kill me six months previously."
"It was an accident," yelled Percy, "and you weren't hurt".
"Thank good for mortals inability to be hurt by celestial bronze," mumbled Katie.
"That was when we were told to shut up because the cheerleaders were speaking," said Percy rolling his eyes.
"Tammi introduced herself and Kelli. I realising what they were, and made my way towards the exit after telling Percy to run," Rachel informed the group.
"Monster?" asked Apollo.
"Rachel didn't explain why I should run as she pushed her way through the stands ignoring the grumbling kids she stepped on and the frowning teachers. I hesitated for a minute worried what Paul would think, but remembering what happened at Hoover Dam so I followed her out of the gym and found her in the band room," said Percy.
"I was frightened," admitted Rachel.
"She was hiding behind a bass drum in the percussion section," said Percy.
"Oh wow, percussion," said Apollo and started banging on a drum kit that had suddenly appeared in front of his throne. He stopped playing when a lightning bolt hit the set.
"Daaadd," whined Apollo.
"You can practice later in the sound proof room I had made for you," said Zeus with a clap of thunder which was louder than Apollo's drumming.
"Can I come?" asked Thalia "I haven't been to a rock concert in years."
"Us too. We haven't had a good head banging session since before Percy came to camp," said Travis. "Why do you want to bang your heads?" asked a confused Nico. The demi-gods laughed,
"Head banging is how you dance at a rock concert," explained Thalia as Travis and Connor showed how to do it.
"You are all going to a rock concert tonight," said Hades "Now get on with the story."
"I told Rachel to tell me what she saw," said Percy "She didn't think I would believe her but I told her that I knew she could see through the Mist."
"Don't tell me, you told her about us," said Demeter.
"He told me about the mist and that the Greek Myths, the monsters and the gods were real," said Rachel.
"She believed me right away, which made me uncomfortable," admitted Percy.
"I thought I was going crazy, when I sighted monsters on the street that no one else saw," said Rachel. "You were confirming my worst suspicions."
"That you were … SPECIAL!" said Chris as the demi-gods laughed.
"She wanted to know what I was, but we were interrupted by the arrival of Tammi and Kelli," said Percy.
"They were horrible, Tammi walked towards Percy," said Rachel.
"I feel into her charms for a bit, but Rachel pulled me back into focus with a pinch to the arm," said Percy.
"She wanted to bite you. It wasn't going to loose the person who could answer my questions to a kissing monster," said Rachel.
"Tammi started to change, the colour drained from her and her skin turned chalk white. Her eyes completely red and she grew fangs," Percy informed the group.
"Oh like a vampire," said Travis.
"She turned into Edward from Twilight," said Clarisse clearly showing that she had not read the books or seen any of the movies.
"Edward is a male," said Katie.
"What's Twilight?" asked Athena.
"Something you just have to look forward to. But trust me the Aphrodite campers are driving us insane with their fandom," said Annabeth.
"Can we continue with the story and forget about the stupid love story about some stupid girl falling for a vampire?" asked Thalia glaring around the room like a true Huntress.
"Tammi's left leg was a donkey's hoof and the right was in human form but made of bronze," explained Percy.
"Empousai," gasped Aphrodite "they exist to feed on young men."
"Percy seemed to be paralysed so I did the only thing logical," said Rachel.
"You threw a snare drum at her head," exclaimed Percy.
"What is with you and throwing things at people?" Nico pondered.
"I think I also threw a xylophone at her," said Rachel with a shrug of her shoulders.
"Tammi decided to make an exception for Rachel and kill her as her eyesight was a little too good," said Percy.
"When she lunged at me, Percy managed to protect me and slashed her into dust. The dust exploding all over me – it was gross," said Rachel.
"Monsters unfortunately do that," said Will.
"I think my lungs are half full of stupid dust from exploding monsters," said Connor clearly exaggerating.
"Tammi was apparently a trainee, and Kelli was a senior empousa- who hadn't been bested in a thousand years," said Percy. Poseidon groaned and then grinned as he realised Percy was still alive.
"Percy and the empousa started to fight knocking over the brass section of the music room," said Rachel.
"Kelli informed me that soon my little camp would be in flames, my friends made slaves to the Lord of Time and that there was nothing I could do to stop it," said Percy quietly. Only the some of the group heard Clarisse gasp and witnessed the look between her and Percy. The look confirmed that this was where that fear had first begun.
"The tour guide of the school had started, and Kelli seemed pleased that we were about to have an audience," said Rachel.
"She threw a tuba at us smashing the window behind us," said Percy, "She then yelled asking why I had done it."
"She kept up the destruction of the music room attracting the attention of the crowd. Percy charged at her," said Rachel.
"I didn't realise what she was doing until too late. She flung opened the doors and in front of Paul and a tour group I raised my sword as she cowered like a victim," said Percy.
"Oh that is not going to look good," said Katie.
"Just before the sword hit her she exploded into flame like a Molotov cocktail. Waves of fire splashed over everything and fire engulfed the doorway," said Percy.
"Paul asked what Percy had done as kids screamed and the sprinklers sprung into action," said Rachel.
"I knew I would be blamed, the Mist is never kind to me. It probably showed me attacking an innocent cheerleader. So I jumped through the broken window," said Percy.
"Uncle P add attack another student and destroyed a music room to that list of why it would be hard to find a school to accept your son," said Apollo who then choked on a mass of sea water that fell on him.
"Percy bumped into me as he was running from the building, as I came to meet him for our non-date. Rachel came after him demanding an explanation," said Annabeth.
"Wouldn't you after witnessing what I just did?" asked Rachel glaring at Annabeth.
"You then wrote on my arm with permanent marker on my arm…"
"Oh you gave him your number," squealed Aphrodite.
"I wanted him to explain, as he owed me that much. I told him to go, that I would make up a story, to tell them it wasn't his fault," said Rachel.
"Annabeth was not happy that I had told a mortal the truth, or that I had met her before," said Percy.
"Oh someone was jealous," said Aphrodite as Annabeth sighed. Her pride stopped her from admitting the truth.
"I knew our afternoon was ruin as the police would be looking for Percy. So we headed for Camp Half-Blood," said Annabeth.
Hope you all enjoyed.
