Hello and Happy Tuesday! So today is the day…the LAST chapter has arrived. I have honestly had such an amazing time writing this and couldn't have asked for better supporters. Thank you EVERYONE who has reviewed, favorite and followed and gave ideas/suggestions. I love you all! Enjoy!
Two kids ages four and five were running down the hospital halls saying hello to every person they passed by as two unhappy women or better known as their mothers were chasing them.
This was a common occurrence every time they came to the hospital and as one mother was on her child's heal the other one was have a little bit of difficulty as she was holding another child around the age of two.
The two kids knew the hospital like the back of their hands as they knew exactly where they were going. Once they got to the hallway split the two kids waved goodbye to each other and took off once again to the perspective doors.
The five-year old barged into the room causing the person on the other side to fall out of their chair scared and surprised. The 5 year old ran over engulfing the person on the floor in the hug as the mother looked on with a smile on her face. "Daddy!" The five year old yelled happily.
"Hey Gabby. How is my baby girl?" Jerry asked.
"Good", she replied with the grin.
"Oh, really? Why is that?" Jerry asked curiously.
Gabby just smiled, not answer the question as Jerry just shook his head, getting up holding Gabby and walking over to Grace giving her a hug and kiss.
The four-year-old ran into the room startling the person on the other side but a smile grew on the persons face when he saw who it was. "Daddy!" The four year old yelled, running over to hug the man.
"Hey Spenc, how is my little guy?" Jack asked.
"Good", Spencer replied smiling.
"Now where is mommy?" Jack asked his son with a raised eyebrow.
Before Spencer answered a voice said, "Mommy is right here and not very happy".
Jack looked up and saw Kim pink faced, breathing heavily and leaning on the wall for support. Jack smiled at his wife as he got along with Spencer and walked over to give Kim a hug and kiss along with his little girl. "Hello princess", Jack said to his daughter Samantha.
"Daddy", Samantha stared to yell as she reached out for her dad.
Jack released his son who ran over to the closet to pull out his toys as he took his daughter from her mother. Jack switched Samantha to his left side and put his free arm around Kim bringing her into his side. She smiled and wrapped her arms around his torso. Jack kissed forehead and said, "What's wrong Kimmy?"
"Your son is just as hyper as you are", she said exhausted.
"He ran through the hospital again?" Jack asked with a slight smile and sigh.
Kim nodded and added, "And it didn't help that his cousin was doing it too".
Jack chuckled and said excitedly, "Hey buddy, guess what? We are going to go see Uncle Jerry".
Instantly, Spencer jumped up and ran out of the room with Jack right on his heels and his daughter in his arms who was giggling the whole time thinking this was a game. Before Spencer ran into Jerry's office Jack scooped him up in his free arm as Kim laugh at the three of them as she knocked on the door.
Grace answered with a smile in her face. "Hello Brewer family", she said happily.
"Hi Auntie Grace", Spencer yelled happily.
"Hey bud and Sammy", Grace said winking at Samantha.
"Hi Auntie", Samantha whispered back as she hid half her in face in Jack's neck.
Grace opened the door wider for the four of them to enter and as soon as they entered Gabriela attached to herself to Jack's legs. "Hi Uncle Jack", she said tightening her hold so he really couldn't move.
"Hey Gab", Jack said smiling while trying to move a little.
The other three adults look on in amusement as Jack tried handling three kids.
Jack put Spencer and Samantha down as they ran to Jerry and Kim respectively. Jack then tried to pry Gabriela off but she was a tough cookie. Jack looked at Grace and silently asked help as Jerry wasn't paying attention and Grace just smirked, finding this way too enjoyable.
After a few more seconds Grace caught Kim's eyes with the look that said, "Grace, let him go".
Great sighed in defeat and said, "Alright hon, let Uncle Jack go".
Gabby reluctantly let go and ran over to her father and Spencer. The two kids stared to play as Samantha soon joined them.
The four adults stepped off to the side and watched the kids play together so happy and content.
They couldn't believe this was their life now. They were happily married with great kids and amazing family and friends. The kids had each other to lean on and Kaylie was an amazing teenager who the kids; especially Gabby and Sammy looked up too and was their role model. Their lives were perfect but more importantly complete.
They never got tired of watching their kids play together as it brought a smile to their faces. After a few more minutes of watching, Grace turned to Jerry and whispered, "How late are you working tonight?"
Jerry thought for a minute and then smiled saying, "I could be done soon".
Grace was shocked as it was still early in the afternoon but returned the smile and replied louder than intended, "Really?"
Jerry nodded as Jack and Kim joined the conversation. "Really what?" Kim asked Grace curiously
"Oh, Jerry is almost done", Grace replied excitedly.
Kim looked at Jack who smiled and nodded too. Kim gave Jack a quick hug and kiss on the cheek as she was happy to hear that.
Jack signaled to Jerry that they should head out and Jerry was right on it, "Ok Gabs, Uncle Jack and I are going back to work for a little bit. Please be good for mommy and auntie", Jerry said looking at Gabby who nodded quickly.
Jack looked at his kids and without even saying anything they both nodded in agreement. Jack smiled as Grace and Jerry were in shock. "Wow, how did you do that?" Jerry asked.
Jack shrugged his shoulders and winked at Kim as he and Jerry exited the room.
As they were making their rounds, everyone stopped them to say how cute their kids and family was. They both graciously thanked everyone as they were honored and a little embarrassed.
Jack was on his last few patients as another doctor came up to him. "Hey Jack", he said.
"Hey Darren", Jack replied.
"What are you still doing here?" Darren asked.
"Um, doing my job?" Jack said in more of a question.
Darren rolled his eyes and said, "You know what I mean Brewer".
Jack looked confused as Darren laughed to himself. "Go, get out of here. Enjoy family time", Darren finished with a smile.
Jack was still confused as Darren shook his head. "Jack, I am helping you out and I owe you for when you covered for me a while back. So go home. I will take over ", Darren said more seriously.
Jack processed everything as a smile appeared on his face. "Thanks so much Darren", Jack said happily as they did their man hug.
Darren smiled and nodded as he signaled Jack to go. Jack nodded and took off down the hall running into Jerry on the way. They both sped back to Jerry's office excited for the night.
Kim and Grace were shocked to Jack and Jerry back so soon. "Hey honey, that was fast", Kim said to Jack giving him a hug.
"Well it turns out that if you are nice to people; they are nice to you because Darren just took over my shift". Jack replied smiling.
Grace looked at Jerry and said, "What about you?"
"Well if you must know, I have friends too", Jerry said seriously.
Everyone raised an eyebrow and looking at Jerry. After a few seconds of a stare down he cracked. "Fine, I won Mason in rock, paper, scissors".
Everyone laughed and Kim and Grace walked back over to the kids. Jack looked at his watch and saw it was almost 5 and said, "Hey, it's almost 5. Why don't you guys pick up Kaylie and then we can go out for dinner and then ice cream", looking at the Kim, Grace and Jerry who looked excited. They all nodded as Kim grabbed Samantha, Spencer ran over to Jack and Jerry and Grace walked out with Gabriela.
The 7 of then walked out of the hospital as one big happy family; ready for whatever life threw at them.
No matter what happened in the past, they survived and were stronger than ever. Sure there were a lot and I mean a lot of things that they didn't expect but hey; isn't that what life is all about. But no matter what, the four of them will always have each other as they are family till the end and an amazing family at that. They wouldn't trade any of what they went through because it brought them to this life and it's the life they always dreamed of.
And remember; Love Is A Dangerous.
