Today there will be a bit more fluff, I had a lot of fun writing todays chapter but sadly my sister couldn't proof read it for me so I have a strong feeling that it's filled with a lot of mistakes but I still I hope you enjoy it :3
I DO NOT OWN SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN!
"Stop right there!" a man shouted.
"They just don't know when to give up huh? That was easier than I expected."
"Idiot, don't let your guard down, it's not over until we get out here. Just how many times do I have to tell you that?"
"I got it, I got it. Geez, you really sound like a mother."
"Ho, should I beat you up?"
"H-hey, look! The exit's over there." The auburn said as he ran ahead.
A small trail of light was spotted in the distance. Slowly, the spec of light grew bigger and bigger, finally engulfing them. They took a big breath of fresh air, unlike the dusty air underground. In the vast sky the moon had already risen, and filled with hundreds of stars. Exhausted the two of them fell flat on the ground.
"We did it!"
They slapped each other a five.
"Now let's see what we have here."
The auburn boy propped himself up with his elbow. He took out a pouch that he kept in his pocket and opened it, he took the object out of it to inspect it. Then, passed it to his friend.
"I can't believe we were paid so much just to retrieve such a small piece of metal." The auburn said as he placed it back inside its container.
"I don't care what it is as long as we get paid."
"Tomorrow, I'll go meet the client."
"I'm coming with you, it could be dangerous."
"You're such a worry wart."
"Fine. Go get yourself killed."
"Alright alright, you can come." The auburn laughed. "The meeting place is in Fiore. Hey! That's where the orphanage is. I wonder if we could get to see Alice."
"I hope not. It would just be a pain."
"That's true, it would be troublesome if she finds out what we're doing. Ah, it's been awhile since we last visited." He smiled.
"Is something bothering you?"
"What makes you say that?"
"You've been acting weird these days."
"Nothing is wrong."
"Are you sure?" The raven-haired boy said as he looked into his friend's emerald eyes with concern.
"You're really sharp, huh? I should have known that nothing can get pass you."
"What do you expect? How many years have we known each other."
"That's true."
"So? What's up?"
The auburn kept quiet.
"Answer the question already."
"I didn't want to tell you this because I didn't want you to worry." He took in a deep breath before he continued. "The truth is, the last time I went to meet the debt collectors, they said that is we didn't pay them double this month… They'd hurt Alice."
"What? And you didn't tell me?"
"I'm sorry, I knew you'd get mad."
"Of course I'd be mad, you idiot. Why didn't you tell me something as important as this sooner?"
"I'm really sorry."
The raven haired boy let out a sigh.
"Fine. Let's drop this. There's no point in getting so worked up at something that has already happened. Next time if something like this happens, make sure you tell me, Alright?
"Yeah."
"Now get some sleep. We'll figure something out tomorrow."
"Roger!"
Why did that idiot Lorenzo have to catch a cold today of all days? I thought that idiots couldn't catch colds?
"Rivaille, where are you going?"
"Don't follow me go back."
"Why?"
"Because it's dangerous."
"Then why are you going?"
"Unlike you I'm capable of taking care of myself."
"But I want to go!"
"I said no."
"If you're going then I'm going!"
Rivaille let out a sigh.
Am I really going to start an argument with a kid?
"If you get hurt don't you dare come crying to me."
"Yay! It's alright, I have Eren to protect me."
He scoffed. How was a rabbit made out of cloth and cotton going to keep her out of danger? Rivaille turned around and proceeded with his journey. He knew that it was a bad idea to walk past the orphanage. The 6 year old spotted him and insisted on following him.
Alice had to occasionally run to catch up, it was hard to keep up with his pace. His strides were much further than hers, thus she scurried to keep up.
"Rivaille, where are we going?"
"You came along without knowing?"
"I just want to spend time with you. It's too bad that Lorenzo-nii caught a cold, I really wish that I could see both of you more often. So anyway back to the question, where are we going?"
"The forest."
"Why?"
"I'm going there to meet someone."
"Who?"
"Could you stop asking me so many questions?"
Alice puffed her cheeks and looked down. She decided that she'd give him the silent treatment, but it proved to be a bigger torture for her than for Rivaille. It was a long walk in the dense vegetation, then they came to a steep slope. (It's not really that high, you probably only need to take 3 steps up) Rivaille walked up casually with ease, he turned around to find Alice still at the bottom.
"Coming? If you don't hurry I'm going to leave you behind,"
She looked up feeling a little wary but slowly she took one step up, and another. The ground gave way causing a miniature landslide below her feet, she lost balance and began to fall backwards. She closed her eyes out of fear, preparing to brace for the pain but a hand grabbed hold of hers and pulled her up.
"Why did you have to bring that along? It's going to get in the way."
"Don't call Eren a that, besides if I left him at home he'll get lonely."
"It's a toy for goodness sake!"
"Eren's not an ordinary toy. He's special!"
"You really are a kid. How old are you supposed to be?"
"6 and I'm not a kid!"
"Yeah, just keep telling yourself that. No matter how you look, you're obviously a kid."
She crossed her arms and pouted, knowing that she couldn't win this round. They continue walking through the forest.
"Are we there yet?" Alice asked.
"Ask me that question one more time and I'll hit you."
"You're so violent."
"I only use violence when needed."
Soon, a little hut was in sight.
"Is that where we're going?"
"Not we, I am going. You are staying here."
"Eh! Why?"
"Don't make me repeat myself. It's dangerous, so stay here." He hid her in a bush. "Don't attract too much attention. I'll come back to get you when I'm done. Now be a good girl and play with your toy."
Before he could leave, he felt a slight tug on his shirt. Rivaille turned around to find Alice grabbing on to his shirt with her eyes downcast.
"Oi, let go."
"No."
"Oi…" His voice trailed off as he noticed that she had tears in her eyes. "Come on, let go." He said in a kinder tone.
She shook her head.
"Don't go. Papa said he'd be alright but he died. Mama too, their bodies were so cold. I don't want that to happen to you Rivaille. So don't go anywhere dangerous."
"Idiot." He flicked her forehead. "I'm not so weak to be killed off. I'll be back in a few minutes and then I'll show you a surprise, alright?"
"Promise?" She held her pinky out.
"What's with you and these promises?"
"Eren taught me and he always kept them."
"Your rabbit doesn't even have fingers."
"I told you before, not Usa-chan Eren but Eren Eren."
"I really don't get what you're trying to say." He took her pinky in his. "Okay, I promise. Now stay put alright."
She nodded.
"So where's the money?"
"Here." The man said as he took a suitcase out and opened it. "And the object we asked you to retrieve."
"It's here."
Bang! The door flew open.
"Hey, look at what I caught." A man came barging in while dangling a girl with one hand.
"Let go!"
"That idiot." Rivaille said beneath his breath.
"A kid? Hey brat, what are you doing all the way out here? It's dangerous you know? There could be some bad people here."
His companions laughed.
"Aw, look she has a little bunny." He said as he snagged it from her.
"Hey give Eren back!"
"Aw, she's so cute."
His companions laughed again, then he took the rabbit and threw it on the ground. He began stepping on it, everyone went wild. Their laughing echoed through her mind as she saw her stuff toy getting tortured in front of her. Her eyes was full or horror.
"You shits may have time to play with little children but I don't." Rivaille said.
"Awh, don't tell you that you've got a soft spot for kids."
"Don't get so angry. We were just playing with her right?"
"Yeah, that's it."
"Get your dirty feet off of him." Alice muttered.
They turned their attention to her, she had her fringe covering her eyes.
"Did you say something kid?" He said as he grinds his feet into the rabbits face to tease her.
"I said, get your smelly feet off of Eren!" She said as he kicked her captor in his face causing him to let go of her and then kicking the other man in his shin making him fall backwards in pain. Quickly, she grabbed Eren and ran behind Rivaille.
"Rivaille!" She said as she hid behind him.
"You damn brat. You expect me to deal with them? Why do I have to clean up after you?"
"Please?" She said as she tilted her head to one side.
"Fine. They were getting on my nerves too. Close your eyes, I don't think you want to see this."
Obediently she closed her eyes and used her palms to cover her rabbit's eyes.
In a flash, he brought down the three men, he was so fast that they couldn't even lay a finger on him. They laid on the ground groaning in pain.
"Come on let's go." Rivaille said as he grabbed the suitcase.
"Can I open my eyes now?"
"Yes. Hurry up, it's getting late."
She hugged her rabbit tightly as she hopped across the room to where Rivaille was and of course careful enough to not step on anyone. The two left the hut and began walking back.
"Stay close to me, there might be others around."
"Okay." She walked next to him. "You're not mad?" She asked.
"I'm furious."
She looked down on the ground.
"But I didn't think I'd ever see the day of you kicking someone in the face."
She giggled.
"Neither did I, it happened in the spur of the moment. I didn't mean to, maybe I should go back and apologize."
"Don't bother, he deserved it. And what were you doing wandering around? Didn't I tell you to stay put? And that you should never pick a fight with someone you can't out run."
"I was just curious."
"Well curiosity kills the cat. Remember that from now on."
"How does curiosity kill a cat?"
"It's a metaphor."
"Oh."
"One more thing, you really shouldn't be hugging that now. It's covered in filth."
"Yeah I know. I need to give him a bath when we go home." She said. "I just remembered, you said you had a surprise."
"You actually remembered that?"
"Yup. So what is it?"
"You can hear it can't you?"
"Huh?"
Slowly, the sounds of drums could be heard in the distance. Alice looked at Rivaille with enthusiastic eyes, he nodded in approval to let her investigate the sound. She ran up ahead to be greeted by dazzling street lights, she stood there in awe.
"Rivaille what's that?" She pointed to the small street stalls.
"You don't know?"
She shook her head.
"Every year they hold a really annoying and stupid festival to honor the day the walls were completed. They open stalls like those which are nothing more than a waste of money and resources."
"Let's go! Doesn't it look like fun?"
"If by fun you mean stupid then yes."
Before he could finish his sentence, Alice had already gone off.
"Stupid brat." He mumbled as he went after her.
The place was packed, finding a girl that barely reached up to 4 feet was close to impossible.
"Rivaille what is that?"
He jumped a little when he didn't realize that she had been next to him nearly the entire time.
"Hey, what's that?"
"That's ice-cream."
He realized that she wasn't listening but he didn't bother to get angry. He decided that it'd be tiring if he got mad at everything.
Next to them was a little boy.
"Daddy! Daddy! I want of those." He shouted as he tugged on his father's pants.
"Only if your mother says yes."
"Mom can I have one?"
"I don't see why not."
"Yay!"
That family triggered small memories of her and her parents, her tears nearly came pouring down.
"Here." Rivaille said as he held out an ice cream cone in front of her. (I actually don't think ice-cream cones were invented yet but oh well)
"Can I have it?" Alice asked.
"Wasn't that the whole purpose of buying it in the first place?"
"You don't want any?"
"I don't like sweet things."
She took it and bit into it.
"Ah! Cold, cold cold."
"Idiot, you're supposed to lick it."
"It's good though."
"Hey, you've got some on your face."
Instinctively, he pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and began vigorously wiping her face. (Please tell me that this has happened to you!)
"Mmmhh." Her voice muffled through the cloth. "I can do it myself." She blushed.
"Here." He gave her his handkerchief.
"Rivaille."
"What?"
"Thanks for cheering me up."
"Why would I do such a thing? I only bought it because you were staring at it and you were drooling."
"No I wasn't!" She protested.
"Oh, yes you were. You should have seen the look on your face."
OMG, Alice got violent! Is that a good thing, I wonder... It's probably because of the influence of Rivaille. I'm sorry I suck at ending chapters, I just never know how to end it properly! TT^TT
I always hate it when someone tries to wipe your mouth but they're always so rough when they do it and it actually hurts quite a bit, my sister does used to do it all the time, she still does sometimes. And I hate it! Please tell me that i'm not the only one who dislikes it! D8
Originally, I was suppose to write cotton candy instead of ice-cream but then I remembered that cotton candy was not created at that time. I mean even light bulbs weren't created yet, I think... Cuz I've never seen a light bulb in the show. Have you? Maybe it's because i'm not very observant. XD
