Sorry about how long that took me to update, time kinda got away from me.

I can't remember the last time i had this much fun writing a chapter. The first half of this chapter is angsty and drama filled and the second half... well lets just say a its some element of the story that i really missed.

Anyway i hope you enjoy this chapter!

Vince

Update: I don't like where i left off, it just feels empty and its been bugging me since yesterday. So, i'm either just going to add on the ending to this chapter or do a chapter 16.5 i don't know which yet cause i haven't decided. I'm sure you guys will figure it out.

Vince.

Freed From the Darkness ( Chapter 16)

"Son, can you tell me what happened here?" A police officer asked Sam.

"Yeah. Castiel and I were sitting on the couch watching T.V when we heard a knock on the door. Cas stood up and went to get the door." Sam tried to explain.

"And who was at the door?" the officer questioned.

"It was Elliot. He started talking and asked to talk to Dean."Sam answered.

"And who is Dean? Why did he want to talk to him?" The officer continued to ask.

"Dean is my brother. I'm not quite sure why he wanted to talk to him." Sam responded, getting annoyed with the officer interrupting him.

"Ok, then what happened?"

"Cas went and got Dean from their bedroom to talk to him." Sam responded

"Their bedroom?" The officer asked, raising an eyebrow at his answer.

"Yes, Their bedroom." Sam replied with more than just annoyance in his tone.

"Why was Dean in their room?" The officer asked.

"As I'm sure you know already, both of them were kidnapped and tortured. Leila.."

"Who's Leila?" The officer asked, ignoring the fact that Sam was back talking him.

"Leila Prosequi, the ADA." Sam said. " She called saying that the police had caught they had caught someone lurking outside the apartment and that they needed to come down and identify if this was one of the people who kidnapped them. I'm not sure what happened down at the station but when they came back, Dean went straight to the room."

"O.k. then what happened when Dean got to the door?" the officer asked.

"They started talking and all of a sudden I hear Cas yell about something. And I stood up and ran over towards the door. Cas ran inside the apartment as I went outside. Dean was flying down the stairs when I looked over the rail. I could see Elliot laying on the ground, the gun lying next to him." Sam answered.

"Then what happened?" The officer questioned.

"I saw Dean reach Elliot and ask him "why he would do this". Then Elliot pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket and hand it to Dean. And I watched as Elliot stopped breathing. And I could hear Cas talking on the phone, I ran down to Dean and that's when you guys showed up." Sam finished.

"Ok. Thank you for answering all my questions." The officer thanked as he stood up and walked over towards the other officers.

Sam sat their dumb founded that the officers treated this like it was just another day on the job. His brother killed someone. All that was running through his head was the thought of his brother going to jail. And that he could possibly never see him again.

"We are going to need you and Castiel to come down to the station and answer some questions." The officer addressed Dean.

Dean nodded. He wasn't responding to anyone besides the police officers. He really hadn't said a word to Cas, Sam, or anyone. He just sat there and responded when addressed by the police.

Dean stood up and followed the police out the door, Cas followed behind them and grabbed onto Dean's hand. He flinched at the touch, but relaxed when he saw that it was Cas. Dean and Cas walked down the stairs, trying not to think about what had happened. As they got to the bottom of the stairs, Dean stopped and looked at where Elliot had fallen.

The police had taken the body away already, but the evidence placards were still lying where his body was. Dean took a look at the spot and then continued walking.

The Police had put Cas and Dean in separate rooms to question them. Cas was sitting in his very uncomfortable chair as the police just stared at him, which in itself just added to his discomfort. Cas could feel their eyes moving all across his body, sizing him up. It was a good 10 minutes before the police actually started talking.

"So, tell us what you saw tonight." The investigator asked.

"I saw Elliot pull out a gun and aim it at me. Dean protected me and pushed him to keep him from shooting me." Cas responded.

"We understand that both you and Dean were kidnapped and tortured a few months ago. How are you holding up?" the other officer asked with what seemed like genuine concern.

"I'm good. My injuries have healed." Cas answered.

"That's good. How did that affect the way that you see the world?" the officer asked.

"What do you mean? Are you asking if I see everyone as a threat? The answer is no, I don't. It happened and both Dean and I have moved on from it." Cas responded defiantly.

" Look, we are just trying to figure everything out, we aren't accusing you of anything." The officer replied.

"I understand that, and both Dean and I have already told you what happened countless times. Elliot had a gun, Dean shoved him so that I wouldn't get shot, he fell over the edge. That's what happened." Cas said, "Can we go home now?"

"O.k, it'll be a couple more minutes while we go and check on Dean." The officers replied as they stood up and walked out of the room, leaving Cas sitting in the uncomfortable room and in an uncomfortable chair.

Dean was sitting in his own uncomfortable chair, in another uncomfortable room. The police had just finished questioning Dean about what had happened.

"So, is there anything that you aren't telling us?" they asked Dean.

Dean thought about it for a minute, before he remembered the letter in his pocket. He reached into his pocket and pulled the letter out and slid it across the table. The act of remembering the letter snapped Dean out of shock and pulled him back to reality.

The police reached out and grabbed the letter, and read it over.

"Why did you with hold this evidence from us?" The police asked.

"I'm not sure, I guess I forgot about it." Dean replied.

The police glanced over at each other, not really sure what to make of what was happening.

"Ok, we are going to take this into evidence and have it tested for DNA." The police stated as one of them stood up and grabbed the letter after putting on a pair of gloves and took it out of the room.

"Can I go home now?" Dean asked.

"Why do you want to go home?" The remaining officer asked.

"I've had a long day and it's what 4am? I'm exhausted." Dean replied.

A knock on the door interrupted the police officer before he got a chance to respond. He got up and walked over to the door and talked to the other officer for a bit, before shutting the door and taking back his seat.

"You're free to go, we'll call you if we have any questions." The officer said as he stood up and opened the door for Dean. Dean walked out of the interrogation room and saw Cas waiting at the other end of the hall. He walked over to Cas and hugged him very tightly. They walked out of the station to find Ellen waiting in the car for them.

"Dean… Do you want to talk about what happened?" Jo asked an hour after being in the house.

"Not really, no. I've told so many people what happened today that I don't really ever want to talk about it again." Dean replied coldy. It was about 5 o'clock in the morning when they got back to the apartment, and everyone was exhausted. Ellen and Sam had gone to sleep in Dean and Cas' room, while Cas, Jo and Dean stayed in the living room, unable to sleep.

"But, don't you think it will make you feel better?" Jo questioned, trying to help her "older brother".

"Nope." Dean answered coldly.

Cas sat next to Dean on the couch, not quite sure what to do, should he comfort Dean. Or, should he just let Dean rage for a while and let him cool down.

"Ok, well I'm gonna go to bed cause I have work with Mom tomorrow." Jo said as she stood up and walked into the other room, leaving Cas and Dean alone in the other room. Dean didn't respond to Jo leaving and just continued to stare at the T.V. Cas looked around the room, seeing the morning light starting to shine through the windows.

"Dean?" Cas started. Dean

"Stop. Just stop. Let's just get some sleep. Dean relied as he lied down on the couch. Cas looked over at Dean. Dean scooted over to make space for him, Dean's eyes were warm and inviting, like the way they used to be before everything that happened. Cas smiled and laid down next to him, and wrapped his arm around Dean's waist. He looked up at Dean who was looking down at Cas with a smile. They shared a quick kiss before Cas went to sleep, laying on his shoulder.

The next morning Cas woke up next to Dean who was still asleep. He looked over at the clock which said 9am. Shit, I had work today, Cas thought to himself as he sat up and tried to get up.

"Don't go."Dean whispered as he grabbed Cas' wrist.

"I have work today, I have to go." Cas answered.

"Can't you call in sick?" Dean asked half asleep still.

"I am already late as it is." Cas replied.

"Atleast try." Dean pleaded.

"Fine." Cas replied as he walked over to where his cellphone was charging. He punched in the number for the library.

"New Haven Library, this is Pamela how can I help you?" Pam answered the phone.

"Hello Pam this is.."Cas tried to answer.

"Cassy? Where the hell are you? You were supposed to be here 20 minutes ago to help me open!" Pam answered.

"I am sorry. I over slept. Something happened last night and we had to spend all night at the police station. " Cas explained.

"Oh my gosh are you and that hot piece of ass of yours alright?" Pam asked.

"We're alright. " Cas replied.

"I'm sorry for what I said. Listen, if you need to take the day off and catch up on your sleep I completely understand. I can call in someone else to take your place for the day." Pam apologized.

"Are you sure?" Cas asked.

"Absolutely, catch up on your sleep and spend some time with that honey of yours." Pam replied, Cas flinched at the comment because he could only imagine the face that Pamela was making with that comment.

"Alright, I will see you the day after tomorrow then." Cas replied.

"Ok, see you then," before she hung up he could hear her mumble something along the lines of "hopefully you can still stand by then" before she hung up the phone. Cas blushed at her comment.

"So, what did she say?" Dean asked still half asleep.

"I have the day off." Cas replied.

"Sweet. Let's go back to bed then." Dean said with a grin.

Cas laid back down with Dean and closed his eyes. Cas hadn't been with Dean like this in a long time. He really missed that closeness that they used to have. He cuddled up into the position he was in originally and closed his eyes, trying to catch up on his sleep.

"Good morning." Ellen said as she walked out into the living room, she did this just as the boys were about to fall back asleep. She looked over to see a very pissed of Dean and Cas laying on the couch.

"Oh I'm sorry, did I wake you guys?" Ellen apologized.

"No, it's fine we were actually awake." Dean replied.

"O.K, well I'm gonna go and sign those papers for the apartment after I get ready. Try and get some sleep you guys." Ellen stated as she poured herself a cup of coffee and walked out onto the deck.

Dean and Cas laid back down and tried to get some sleep.

"Good morning guys." Sam stated as he walked out of the bedroom door.

"Oh for fuck sakes'" Dean stated as he looked over at his brother.

"Sorry." Sam said as he grabbed a coffee cup and quickly poured it, trying to escape the death glare of his brother.

"Shit!" Sam yelled as he spilled coffee all over the place. Dean just continued to glare at him while Cas laughed to himself about the whole situation. Dean watched as his brother frantically looked around the kitchen for a towel to wipe up his mess.

"Where are the towels!" Sam yelled again.

"Fuck this." Dean said as he stood up, grabbing Cas by the hand, and drug him into their bedroom. When they got in there, Jo was sleeping in the bed. Dean picked her up and walked back into the living room. Cas watched as Dean set Jo down, still asleep on the couch and walked back into their room.

"I'm sorry!" Sammy yelled as Dean shut the door and climbed into bed. Cas followed suit and climbed into bed next to him and cuddled up next to him.

A couple hours after they had gone into their room, they emerged a much happier Dean and Cas. Jo was sitting on the couch watching T.V with Sam sitting next to her. Dean walked over to the couch and plopped down next to Jo while Cas went into the bathroom.

"Listen Dean I'm sorry about earlier." Sam apologized.

"Don't worry about it, I know how clumsy you are you big moose." Dean replied in a tone that Sam knew that he wasn't actually mad.

Dean could hear the shower go off in the bathroom, he slowly got up and walked over towards the bathroom, trying not to catch the attention of his siblings. They looked over at him with two distinct faces. One of " You go get that booty bro!" and another of "oh god, why did I have to look over at this moment."

Dean knocked on the bathroom door.

"What?" Cas replied from in the shower. Dean just knocked again so Cas would have to open the door. Dean could hear some angry mumbling coming from inside the bathroom. Cas opened the door slightly and saw that it was Dean and let him in.

Sam was blushing when he saw his brother walk into the bathroom. His face turned bright red at the thought of what they were probably doing. Jo looked over at him and started giggling.

"You know what they're probably doing in there. Fuckin eachothers brains out." Jo stated with an evil grin on her face trying to embarrass him.

At that moment Sam and Jo could hear a soft moaning coming from the bathroom. Sam's face turned bright red as he walked out of the living room and onto the deck. Jo was turning blue in the face from laughing so hard at how perfect that played out.

Cas opened the door to see Dean standing in the door way. Cas opened the door a bit wider to let him into the bathroom with him, figuring they were going to take a shower together. Dean closed the door behind him as he stepped inside and kissed Cas deeply. This was the first time since the kidnapping that Cas felt like Dean was kissing him with some passion instead of just going through the motions. Dean grabbed Cas hips which were wrapped in a towel and pulled Cas closer to him. Dean's tongue played against Cas' lips, begging to taste the honey and vanilla. Cas complied and opened his mouth to appease Dean's appetite. A soft moan escaped Cas' lips as Dean moved his hands over Cas' body.

Cas took this chance to quickly jump back into the shower, one because he was freezing, and two to get Dean to follow him. Cas saw a smirk grow across Dean's face as he realized that Cas was playing Cat and Mouse with him. Dean quickly stripped and climbed into the shower where Cas was waiting for him. Dean felt the heat of the water rush over him as Cas pulled him closer. Cas began to kiss Dean again, reclaiming that closeness that they used to have before everything turned to shit.

Dean pulled back to see a confused Cas looking at him with his eyes full of lust.

"Why don't we go out tonight?" Dean asked.

"And go where?" Cas relied.

"I don't know. How bout a movie and dinner?" Dean asked, his face blushing. Why do I feel like a school girl asking someone on a first date, he thought to himself while he waited for Cas to reply.

"I'd like that." Cas answered with a smile on his face.

"Great! Now move I'm freezing." Dean joked as he stepped forward into the warm water.

Cas' hands found themselves on Dean's waist as the warm water flowed over Dean's body. Dean's hands moved to where Cas' were and stayed there for a while, just enjoying the closeness that they had both missed.

Cas moved his hands and wrapped them around Dean's body, embracing him, trying to get even closer to Dean. And Dean saw the perfect opportunity to be silly as Cas rested his head against Dean's shoulder. He quickly cupped his hands together to catch some water. A smile crept across his face as he splashed the water up into Cas' face who let go and took a step back.

"What the hell!" Cas yelled.

"What, we aren't allowed to have to many chick flick moments." Dean replied with the same smile on his face.

Cas had been spending too much time with Sam when he gave Dean almost the perfect imitation of the bitch face.

"Fine. But I get to pick the movie tonight." Cas stated before he grabbed the shampoo and started washing his hair.

"O.K." Dean stated as he leaned in to plant a quick kiss while Cas' eyes were closed.

Dean and Cas stepped out of the bathroom wrapped in towels. They looked over at the couch where only Jo was sitting now, still giggling to herself.

"Where did Sammie go?" Dean asked.

"He went out onto the deck." Jo giggled.

"Why?" Cas asked confused.

"Why don't you go and ask him yourself." Jo laughed.

Dean walked over to the deck to see Sam sitting in his chair.

"Whatcha doin?"Dean asked.

"Nothin." Sam jumped when he heard Dean.

"Alright man." Dean replied as he turned and went back into his apartment to get dressed.

He walked through the apartment to see Jo giggling on the couch. Dean was really confused as to why she couldn't stop laughing but he didn't really care. He walked into the bedroom to see Cas almost fully dressed, he was just missing his shirt. Dean could see the scars from where his wings tattoo was. Parts of the tattoo were still visible but if you hadn't have seen before the accident you wouldn't be able to tell what it is.

Dean watched as Cas pulled out the AC/DC shirt he got for Dean in the hospital and threw it on.

"You know I love that shirt on you." Dean said with a smile on his face.

"I know, that is why I wear it." Cas replied as he walked over to Dean and planted a kiss on him. He then walked out of the room so he could get dressed.

They decided that they would catch dinner before they went to the movie. And since Cas got to decide what movie they get to see, Dean got to decide where they went to dinner. They spent the whole time at dinner joking with each other and just being themselves with eachother.

After Dean paid for their dinner they made their way to the movie theater. Dean had no idea what they were going to see since he wasn't quite sure what was even out.

Cas walked over to the booth and ordered their tickets. Dean tried to walk over and see what he was getting into but Cas shooed him away. Cas walked back to Dean and ushered him into the lobby.

"Am I gonna get to see what movie we are going to see?" Dean asked.

"Nope." Cas said as he stuck his tongue out at him.

Dean leaned in and kissed Cas quickly before he tried to steal the ticket away from him. Cas saw it coming and moved his hand away.

After the kiss, Cas ran over to the theater where their movie was playing. Dean ran after him trying to catch up. He stopped outside the theater and looked up at the sign to see what movie they were going to see.

"Safe haven? What the fuck is this shit?" Dean asked.

"Well if we can't have "chick flick" moments then I guess we just have to watch someone else's." Cas stated as he poked his head out of the door to the theater. Cas jumped back into the theater before Dean had a chance to say anything.

"Oh god dammit." Dean said to himself realizing that Cas had been planning this since their shower. Dean reluctantly walked into the theater knowing that he got played really good.

What am I going to do now? Obviously Elliot failed and now I have the cops on my ass. I guess I will have to start from scratch and figure something out. Crowley thought as he sat in an abandon warehouse.

A/N:So this chapter was just fun and awesome to write. And i missed the funny, awkward situations that i used to have in my chapters all the time. This chapter was just kind of like a moments reprieve from the drama to come. I'm thinkin that there are going to be four more chapters till the end of this story and im gonna try and get it all done before the end of summer. I love you guys and hope you enjoyed this chapter as much as i did.

P.S, my m and p button will randomly decide to not work so if there are any spelling mistakes involving those letters im sorry its my laptops fault.
