Sorry guys, there has been a lot of random issues that came up that kept me from writing.
A couple weeks later and Hiccup could still remember the day like it was yesterday. He told his father that it wasn't Alvin's idea but Mildew's. Stoick order a search party for Mildew and when they would find him…. Stoick didn't tell anyone his plan but everyone on Berk could read what he was thinking. Stoick wanted revenge from the person who almost took his son away again. Four week, they were searching for Mildew. (A/N: not a grammar mishap I actually mean four weeks also the time to make up a month) No one could find him. He must have still been on Outcast Island. A few days later Hiccup was up and walking around but he didn't leave his house. Astrid and Snotlout (whose leg was better over the last month) were with him.
"It's good to see you again" Snotlout tried to talk to Hiccup. Hiccup just stared out the window.
"Did you know the twins told everyone I was dead?" Hiccup asked.
"Actually it wasn't the twins, it was Fishlegs and he just told everyone that you were…." Astrid's voice trailed off. Hiccup slowly turned to look at her.
"Why can't things go back to the way they were?" He asked. Snotlout and Astrid looked at each other.
"They will they just need time" Snotlout said. Hiccup stood up and walked out of the house. Toothless quickly followed him. They walked out to the cove. After a few minutes of tossing random stones and stick into the water Hiccup heard Snotlout behind him.
"I want things to go back to normal" Hiccup said. Snotlout chuckled.
"Yeah coming from the guy who was the first to train dragons" he said. He sat down near the water next to him. "Hiccup, things change and we just need to accept that. Sometimes they change for the better and sometimes they don't"
"I don't want everyone hanging over me like I'm going to die if trip on a pebble. I'm fine I promise! I just want everyone to stop treating me different" Hiccup yelled causing Toothless to freak out a little.
"Everyone will sooner or later. Just give everything some time. I mean, come on, you still have Astrid's love and that isn't easy to get" Snotlout said. Hiccup just rolled his eyes. "Okay how about this, tomorrow if you feel up to it you and me will have a legit dragon race"
Hiccup looked at him but then looked at the water.
"But I swear to the gods I will beat you" Hiccup laughed at that comment.
"Alright, you're on" Hiccup said. Snotlout stood up and help Hiccup up. "Although, for the record, Astrid was after me first"
"You liar" Snotlout said with a laugh. They walked back to the village were of course as soon as they saw Hiccup they swarmed him with "oh you poor thing you shouldn't be in the woods" or "I thought he was dead, Fishlegs said he was dead" Snotlout pushed most of the people out of the way like he was Hiccup's bodyguard. When they finally pushed through the crowd to the house Stoick was there.
"Hey dad, me and Snotlout were just at the cove" Hiccup mumbled.
"We found him" Stoick said. Hiccup's eyes widened. "He's in the brig right now and his punishment is fulfilled tomorrow at noon"
Stoick left the house to tell the village what Mildew's punishment would be.
"That's great! Justice is served" Snotlout said.
"It's about time we found him. I can't wait till tomorrow" Astrid said.
"He doesn't deserve it" Hiccup whispered.
"What?" Snotlout and Astrid said at the same time.
"Of course he deserves it!" Snotlout said.
"Hiccup, he ordered the same thing to be done to you. It's just giving him a taste of his own yak milk" Astrid said. Hiccup slammed his fist on the wall.
"Yeah I have been through the same thing. I know enough that he doesn't deserve it!" Hiccup yelled.
"Hiccup, it doesn't matter. He's going to be dead tomorrow by one. Even if you don't think he deserves it he ends up dead anyways" Astrid said.
"Yeah after everything he did to you, he does deserve what he gets" Snotlout said. Hiccup stormed to his room and slammed the door. Toothless growled at Snotlout.
"calm down Toothless, you and I both know I wouldn't hurt Hiccup" Snotlout said. Toothless backed down but still looked on guard.
"Why is Hiccup taking this so personally?" Astrid asked.
"Don't know" Snotlout answered. "This is justice being served. Mildew does deserve what he ordered to be done to Hiccup. Hiccup has no right to say he doesn't"
Astrid pondered on that for a moment. So much for Snotlout being empathetic. Astrid left to go to the town meeting. She didn't stay very long. After that she went to the brig to see Mildew.
"Why'd you do it?" Astrid asked. Mildew looked up at her.
"You got to be more specific" he said.
"It doesn't matter you'll be dead anyways" Astrid said. She started to walk away.
"Dragons were never meant to be a part of us. They aren't human so we shouldn't include them as an equel" he said Astrid laughed.
"Says the man who married a sheep"
"Animals can be trusted unlike dragons"
"Dragons are animals, Mildew, stop being stupid and just give me the real reason" Astrid said turning to look at him.
"With Hiccup dead the dragon, Toothless, would have stopped at nothing to kill Alvin. Stoick would banish dragons because they would bring the memory of his dead son and things would go back to normal" Mildew explained.
"Stoick the Vast would accept dragons the way Hiccup would have"
"So, Hiccup is dead" Mildew said. Astrid didn't correct him. She just let the old man believed what he wanted. "With, Hiccup at Helheim's gate I can die at peace" Astrid stormed off but stopped before she reached the door.
"I wonder what would happen to that little sheep of your" she said with fake sweetness before skipping off.
