Chapter Three: Welcome to The Labyrinth

Beyond the edge of eternity, where magical creatures and monsters dwell lays the Labyrinth. It is a maze, which comes to be known as homes for unwanted children of the above ground. Spoiled, unwanted and unloved children who get wished away by their loved ones by simple words from a small velvet red book.

"I wish the goblins would come take this child far away from me"

Many have tried to take back the words… yet cannot. There is no taking anything back. Not in the Labyrinth. In the end the wishes are always granted, the child is taken and the result is always the same. The child becomes a goblin and the human who tries to play the game is always sent back home to the above world.

That is until… Sarah came….

Yet there has been no one else who has defeated the Labyrinth.

The Labyrinth is a mysterious and beautiful maze, yet one must be cautious for even the most beautiful and sweetest of roses bare thorns… Thorns, which can make one bleed…

Things are not always as they seem…

Lightness fills the maze with the golden rays of sunshine, and makes the liquid mirrors of the crystal-clear waters sparkle breathtakingly. The creatures of this land wander freely, and most of the time happily.

The sky in daytime is always a light blue with fluffy clouds. The birds fill the honey-scented air with the songs of peace and tranquility.

In the center of this Labyrinth lies the Goblin City. It is a city overrun by every sort of creature imaginable, yet mostly by lanky and drunken creatures known as goblins. These clumsy creatures come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. Although most of them are not too bright, they take orders well.

Looming over this goblin city is a magnificent castle made of white gold, pure gold and pure silver.

There are designs in the most exquisite detail, and cut of creatures outside and inside winding and waiting at every corner. Such as dark Fairies' nude bodies trimmed in black diamonds, dancing in the crimson-carved flames, tinted with gold, which makes one stand and stare. Dark Angels of the Heavens, splashed in silver and sprinkled with glittering jewels, and Mermaids of the waters which are painted ever so delicately in emerald and aqua sparkles that glitter ever-so-darkly, smiling with innocent eyes, yet cruel intentions. Adoring every inch of the floor inside is red-on-black swirled marble. On the walls are rich, dark paintings of impeccable taste. Huge crystal windows overlooking the land, with silk ruby, and scarlet drapes take up quite a large proportion of the walls, as well as a few red and black swirled marble vases, which contain only the reddest and sweetest of red thorn-roses. The roses shiver silently, veiled in the velvet shadows of the kingdom. They look as if they have been dipped in blood….

Behind the castle are stairs, which leads out to a hug garden, filled with every kind of flower, adorned with exotic statues, made from fine porcelain and white marble. In the middle of this lush green garden is a pool of shimmering liquid, sparkling and glowing in its magnificent beauty. Beyond that is a stable with only the fastest and strongest horses of all the above and underground.

Here lays paradise… a paradise, and a kingdom of great darkness and great power…

Noting in the entire Labyrinth is as unbelievably beautiful as it is dark, than this castle…That is except for its ruler…. His Majesty, Jareth….

The day had passed, and the light had drowned in the thick, black texture of the night. The golden shimmering sun was shown no respect as the evil, crimson moon pushed it aside with greed, demanding its glory, strength and beauty to be awed and respected by all. As it arose from the ashes of the sun it smiled maliciously down upon the Labyrinth, while placing its sparkling crystals and jewels into the sky. Then the dark cherry moon bled into the velvet of the night, to await and to watch its King, who was once so torn and broken, rise up and take his destiny as true ruler of the Labyrinth.

For he now possessed the girl.

Therefore, the old ruler was back… To stay…

The moon crept into its bleeding sky, prepared to rule over the night and command the glittering stars of time.

His Majesty watched this gorgeous display from one of the large windows in his forever-winding castle, but his mind was not on the ebony night before him.

It was on her…

The girl who defeated his Labyrinth a year ago, the only other creature who dare defy him and the only human or Fey who resisted his charm and handsome features. He stood there by the large window; emotions blaze at war within him. He shook his shoulder-length, wild, mane of gold. He would never understand why she did not take his offer. He offered her everything, her dreams and more. Yet she had resisted him, and declined when he offered her himself.

"But that is the past." He thought, "The past does not matter. Not now… not ever…"

With an evil grin he whispered, in a haze to himself, "Because she is mine…"

And with that, he turned on his heels with a wineglass in his right-gloved hand and left the room.
