Chapter: Four: Masquerade Ball

Stepping alone into a crowd of bodies she sees...

Glittering, drunk on the splendor of the night

Velvet coats with golden trimmed edges, silk

Gowns of every color blending into a rainbow haze

As bodies swirl around, crushing together, creating

an atmosphere of pure romantic bliss...

People hide their beauty and their elegance behind

hideous masks that contrast to their rich colored costumes

Masks of demons, goblins and ugly creatures that hide in the darkness corners of shadows and the imagination. In this ballroom they mingle, twisting their bodies and closing unwanted spaces between dancing partners. A light mist of incense and candlelight fills the room with an unearthly glow...

She, the single unmasked beauty born of the black velvet womb of the night decides against her better judgement to join this party. Dressed in a glittering gown of white that contrasted drastically with her emerald eyes. She walks past all the murmurs and whispers, all the dancing bodies and lingering hungry eyes that fall upon her body. Her long, coffee locks flow behind her, and fall gently onto her exposed back, for she had decided not to wear it up.

She was looking...

Looking for a single person out in the crowd...

A mask of the Devil appeared, and as the mask falls she sees...mismatched eyes one of ice blue and the other warm green, holding her gaze

Just as quickly he was in her sight he disappeared into the flashy crowed

She searched...

Many drank blood red wine behind their masks, laughing loudly and eyeing others.

Still she searched...

Pushing past voluptuous women and loud talkative men

She almost stumbled many a time

As she turned, he had appeared behind her...

Clasping her hand in his and the other on her slim waist, they began to dance

An angel caught by the devil... one with a taste for blood and revenge...

He sung to her in the sweetest voice she'd ever heard.

There's such a sad love...

Deep in your eyes, a kind of pale jewel...

Open and closed within your eyes...

I'll place the sky within your eyes...

There's such a fooled heart...

Beating so fast in search of new dreams...

A love that will last within your heart...

I'll place the moon within your heart...

As the pain sweeps through...

Makes no sense for you...

Every thrill has gone...

Wasn't too much fun at al...l

But I'll be there for you-oo-oo...

As the world falls down...

Falling

(As the world) Falling down

Falling in love

His eyes refused to let her gaze look away.

She was captivated.

Nothing mattered but this. When she was with him she could dance on clouds and fly with wings

His voice, making promises in song hypnotized her as they danced on into the star filled night

I'll paint you mornings of gold...

I'll spin you Valentine evenings...

Though we're strangers till now...

We're choosing the path between the stars...

I'll leave my love between the stars...

Falling

(As the world) Falling down

Falling

As the world falls down

Falling

Falling

Falling

Falling in love

As the world falls down

(down) Falling

Falling

Falling

Falling in love

As the world falls down

Wait! This is not right, it can't be!

She's done this before!

This wasn't real! None of it was...

Not even him!

Falling

Falling

Falling

Makes no sense at all

Makes no sense to fall

Falling

As the world falls down

Falling

Falling

Falling in love

As the world falls down

(down) Falling

Falling

Falling in love

Falling in love (love)

Falling in love

Falling in love

Falling in love

The clock rang out loud and clear...

And as it did The pumpkin carriage was crushed...

...the fairy tale was destroyed...

...All the magic was lost...

What was this what was he trying to tell her?!

He looked at her... oh his eyes...

She was breaking him... hurting him...

Crushing him...

She tore out of his grasp refusing to look back

They were everywhere! Dodging the hands of the masked people who tried to grab her.

She smashed the mirror

The crystal ball broke into a thousand shards

The bittersweet taste of peaches lingered on her red glossy lips

As well as the broken memory of dreams offered twice

Rejected, torn, and thrown away... Forgotten dreams she never took...

She fell into nothingness...

All went black...

She awoke in a cold sweat, shivering as she tried to make out where she was.

What she saw made her eyes grow wide...
