Chapter Ten:
The sounds of vibrating helicopter blades humming through the air echoed all over the forests surrounding the small city of Peach Creek Hills. A group of three choppers could be seen flying in close formation to each other, as they quickly flew towards the coordinates that they were given from H.O.W.L headquarters.
"HOW MUCH FURTHER UNTIL WE REACH THOSE COORDINATES?" A H.O.W.L agent shouted.
"IT'S TAKING US MUCH LONGER THAN WE ANTICIPATED!" The pilot replied. "TRY AND GET THOSE KIDS ON THE HORN AND MAKE SURE THEY'RE ALRIGHT."
The H.O.W.L agent then reached for a small nob on the side of his headset, and changed the frequency in the hopes that he could reach the reconnaissance team.
"SEARCH TEAM OMEGA; THIS IS APLHA TEAM, DO YOU READ ME?"
The only thing the agent could hear was the sound of static over the channel.
OMEGA TEAM; THIS IS ALPHA LEADER PLEASE RESPOND!"
Again nothing be the irritating sound of static came over the channel, but just before the agent could attempt one last transmission. The sounds of a large explosion erupted all over the forest below.
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!" The pilot shouted.
Suddenly an eerie purple and black colored aura could be seen emitting through the forests.
"OH SHIT, PLEASE DON'T BE WHAT I THINK IT IS." The agent shouted.
"CONTROL; THIS IS ALPHA LEADER, WE HAVE A SITUATION." The agent shouting in his microphone.
"We read you Alpha Leader, what's the situation?" A female voice replied..
"I BELIEVE AGENT NIGHTFANG MAY HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED, WHAT ARE OUR ORDERS?"
Just before the same female voice could reply, Director Aries voice had taken over the intercom.
"Agent; this is director Aries speaking, have all the members of your sealing team put on standby! Your prime directive is now to seal Agent NightFang's power before that city is put in jeopardy do you understand?"
"AFFIRMATIVE SIR!" The Agent replied.
The Agent then turned to his squad behind himself and the pilot.
"ALL RIGHT LISTEN UP, I BELIEVE AGENT NIGHTFANG MAY HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED. OUR PRIME DIRECTIVE IS TO SEAL AGENT NIGHTFANG'S POWER, BEOFRE HE CAN BECOME A THREAT TO THE NEIGHBORING CITY IS THAT CLEAR?"
"YES SIR!" Everyone shouted.
"SIR WE'LL BE ARRIVING TO THOSE COORDINATES IN TEN MINUTES," The pilot shouted.
"Let's just hope we won't be too late..." Alpha Team's leader said to himself, as the choppers rushed through the air.
Meanwhile deep within the forests, the blinding lights that had erupted from Double D had died down. Dawn, Hunter, and Jack slowly opened their eyes and lowered their arms and hands from their faces. Only to witness Double D's new transformation, his previous physical transformations had not changed. However not only did his eyes become more bloodshot, but the same malicious black and purple aura had once again returned.
This time is was thicker and had completely enveloped his entire body, while taking the shape an anthropomorphic wolf.
"This is completely different than the last time he was corrupted by his werewolf's powers." Jack said.
"How so Jack?" Dawn asked.
"Last time he became a full werewolf and nearly destroyed a small town in Georgia. However this time the wolf is only being manifested through his aura."
"It's because of his will!" Dawn replied in a low whisper. "It's taking everything Eddward has, to keep the beast within from completely possessing him." she said to herself.
She then saw Double D slowly turn his head over his shoulder while looking directly towards her.
"Is this the battle you face everyday Eddward?"
Suddenly one of the hive guardians charged straight for Double D while swinging it's front right leg against Double D's side. The force behind the guardian's strike was enough to send Double D flying through air while crashing through three neighboring trees, until he came to an explosive halt with the ground below.
"EDDWARD!" Dawn cried out.
Once the dust and debris that was surrounding Double D had cleared, we could see the young monster hunter buried underneath a pile of massive tree branches and dirt. The same hive guardian from before, was once again charging towards Double D. Only this time it had become enrage and was charging at him even faster than it was before.
Double D glared at the charging beast with his bloodshot eyes while at the same time giving off a deep and low growl. The black and purple aura began to create pressurized air around him, small rocks and clumps of dirt began to float in the air. Then with a great howl, Double D released the pressurized aura and an explosion of tree branches and debris soon followed after.
Once Double D had freed himself, he slowly got down on all fours and once again build a dark pressure around himself. With the hive guardian quickly approaching, Double D leapt into the air while leaving a black and purple trail behind him. He flew just over the hive guardian's head, where he delivered a quick heel drop kick and caused the beast to crash onto the forest floor.
Double D then quickly grabbed onto the hive guardian's stubby tail and slow began to drag the beast towards him. The hive guardian flailed it's front legs in the hopes to latch onto the ground, but to no avail. Double D slowly spun himself along with the hive guardian until there was enough momentum to keep the hive guardian airborne. The using all his might, Double D released the hive guardian into the air away from Jack and the others. He then leapt onto a tree and quickly ricocheted through neighboring trees throughout the forest. Soon he was flying over the hive guardian, he then spun his body forward while tightly clasping onto both of his hands together. Double D then swung his hands as hard as he could against the hive guardian's abdomen. The beast spewed a small stream of blood into the air, just before it was sent crashing into the earth below.
But just before Double D could give himself a moment to rest, the second hive guardian had latched its teeth into Double D's ankle. The young monster hunter cried out in pain as the best drove its razor sharp fangs deeper and deeper into his ankle. The beast quickly pulled Double down from the air and slammed him against the base of a nearby tree. The beast then slammed Double D against another tree, then against the ground. The best then used all of its might and through Double D straight through a massive bolder.
For a brief moment the forest became eerily silent, not even the sound of the wind dancing through the air could be heard. The hive guardian stood motionless over the pile of rubble that toppled over Double D, waiting for something to happen. Suddenly as a small piece of rock tumbled off of the pile and a fist was seen shooting straight for the hive guardian's jaw. The small sounds of crackling bones could be heard as the fist collided against the hive guardian's mouth. The force behind the punch was enough to lift the beast off its front legs. Double D had emerged from the pile of rubble, however this time the purple and black wolf cloak that surrounded him grew slightly bigger and was emitting from his body more intensely.
"This isn't good guys!." Dawn said slightly frightened.
"He's becoming enraged, if this keeps up Double D could loose what little control he has left. And transform into a real werewolf!" Jack added.
While the hive guardian was thrown off guard by Double D's punch; the young monster hunter leapt into the air, while pulling his right arm backwards. Once he was close enough, Double D swung his arm as hard as he could against the beast. The hive guardian cried out in pain as two streams of blood was sent flying through the air. Only two of Double D's claws had struck the hive guardian's face. While the other three had dug deep through the hive guardian's armor platting and were either chipped or completely torn off. He pulled back his left arm and once again struck the hive guardian's face. This time three of the claws were able to strike at the beast, but only to have met the same fate as the other claws.
Once Double D had landed onto the ground, he concentrated all of his energy into his fist and drove it deep within the hive guardian's abdomen. Double D then quickly pulled back his fist and quickly threw his other one as hard and as deep as the other. Both times the hive guardian moaned and whaled as it suffered the full force of Double D's blows. The young monster hunter then repeated the same steps again and again, until he was throwing a devastating barrage of punches towards the hive guardian. Streams of acidic saliva and blood came shooting out if the beast's mouth. Double D then jumped into the air while rotating his body in a complete three hundred and sixty degree angle. He then pulled both of his legs as close to himself as he could and struck the beast's one last time.
The force behind Double D's kick was so great not only he was able to break all of the hive guardian's ribs, but also crush one of the beast's lungs as well. As impessive as Double D's last attack was, it also came with its own repercussions as well. As the bones where the hive guardian drove its fangs into, cracked from the sheer raw force from Double D's last attack. Double D stumbled onto the ground; while the hive guardian collapsed onto the forest floor, defeated and slain.
"You never cease to amaze me young Eddward." A voice from deep within Double D's Physique said.
"Despite being under thirty-five percent of my control. You were still able to resist me and were also able to stop the hive guardian."
"You cannot keep up this rouse for much longer Eddward, for someday I will break you and I will make you become a member of my pack."
"N...Nooooooo...I...I'l...I'll...Never...Let you...Win..." A weaken and tired voice replied.
"My, my, even after this incredible battle. You still insist on fighting me huh?"
"Tell me, do you still have enough of that fire left to slay THE OTHER ONE?"
Suddenly Double D could feel a series of unnatural tremors slowly rising towards him. Before he had anytime to react; a huge eruption of dirt and debris sent Double D flying into the air, as the first hive guardian had emerge from beneath the earth. Double D knew that he wasn't in any condition to fight another hive guardian, his only hope was to crawl away before the hive guardian could pick up on his scent. Unfortunately though the hive guardian was able to quickly pick up on Double D's scent and quickly ran straight towards him.
"I won't be able to get away in time..." Double D said with a frightened look on his face.
But just as the beast was about to attack, four shinning bullets were sent flying through the air;and penetrated straight through the hive guardian's chest. Suddenly beams of light were emitting from within the entry wounds and the beast began cry out in agony. The beams of light burned staight through the hive guardian's body, until one final flash of light caused the beast to completely disintegrate into a pile of ashes.
"Yippe ki yay, you freak of nature." Hunter said as he blew away the smoke that were emitting from the barrels of his pistols.
With the hive and hive guardians both put out of commission; Double D laid on the ground with a smile on his face, knowing that he could let his weary eyes and weary mind finally rest.
"You win this one Eddward, but remember this." The voice from before said.
"I'll be watching you..."
As the voice's echos faded away, Double D knew that his mind was his and his alone once again...
