Blood Bonds
Chapter 12
Jakob's P.O.V
As the creature analyses me, smelling the blood coursing throughout my veins in my neck, I inhale sharply, holding my breath, and my fury. Its fangs, sharp as that of a lion's, slowly extend from his mouth, ripping free from his gums with a slight snapping sound. Smirking, he slowly begins to lean in towards my neck, confident in his every move. He knows I'm helpless.
Within my first few weeks at Morganville, I had managed to jump straight into trouble. Well, I had lived up to expectation alright.
In my peripheral vision, I saw a shadow on the roof above the vampire however at the moment his fangs pierced my skin. It's hard to describe what a vampire draining your blood feels like. It's painful, that's one thing. A sharp, raw pain ran through my body as the skin was forced open leaking the contents into the vampire's awaiting mouth. It also seemed quite intimate, I could understand why Eve let Michael do this to her…it could be addictive. It felt great but disgusting at the same time and that was all I had time to think before a crack sounded throughout the scene and the vampire suddenly fell to the floor. Confused, I opened my eyes, when had I closed them, before seizing my opportunity and, leaping for the abandoned metal pipe, I swung wildly around catching him in the face as he leapt at me.
The vampire's head snapped sharply to the right before he slowly turned around to face me once more. This time it was different. He slowly wiped the blood that was dripping down his chin and glared at me, eyes a fiery red colour. I inhaled sharply once more, paralyzed just like a deer in the headlights before he shrieked at me. Eyes wide, I dropped down as he tumbled over me but, in a blur, I was once again struggling in his gasp. He lifted me from the floor by my throat, tightening his grip every passing second. Within a matter of moments my struggling had considerably weakened and black spots were beginning to show in the corners of my eyes.
Suddenly, another blur came crashing into us and I went tumbling to the floor, taking in deep gulps of breath. The air filled my lungs painfully as I held my throat, coughing slightly. Looking up I saw the vampire low, eyes on me and with relief I realized there was one thing between both him and me. Michael Glass. He held a protective posture over me, blood red eyes following the vampire's every movement in anticipation.
"Jakob…slowly crawl back, I'll h-" he was cut off as the vampire charged towards him, fangs baring. Jumping to my feet, I slowly began walking backwards, only getting blurs of the fight. A sharp snap as the vampire's arm broke. A squirt of blood as Michael was clawed along the shoulder. Within seconds Michael had him pinned down and was leaning over him, his feet on the vampire's arms and hands held at his throat. A second passed before, with a battle cry Eve ran out from behind me, armed with a piece of broken wood. Hair wild, she jumped straight on to the vampire, impaling him approximately where the heart would be before jumping on Michael, overwhelming him with kisses and hugging every part of him he could.
Michael, to his surprise, held her back, pulling her into his body. My gaze drifted to the floor…
Michael's
Snapping the phone shut, I immediately threw the keys at him before telling him around where Jake and Eve were. That's all we had time to do before he jumped into the hearse and I set off, knowing travelling on foot would be quicker.
My mind flicked back to when Eve had been brutally beaten up by the residents of Morganville…all for dating me. A vampire. Her frail figure had been hooked up to so many machines and my heart had shattered into a thousand pieces when I saw her lying there…broken.
She had made through that but the thought of her being hurt again only caused my speed to increase as I pushed myself to my limit.
I have no idea how much time passed. It could have been a minute, it could have been twenty but I arrived at the abandoned warehouse area where Eve had prompted me. It was eerily quiet…Shane wouldn't be here for another couple of minutes at the rate he was driving at so I knew I had to take matters into my own hands.
Swiftly, I crept around the area, searching every nook and cranny before I heard a slight yelp. That was Jakob. Snarling, I flitted to the place I had heard the noise to see Eve on the rooftop, hands covering her mouth in fear and Jakob…being held up by his throat.
Eyes narrow, I immediately crashed into the vampire sending him tumbling backwards whilst Jakob landed in a heap on the floor, getting as much air into his lungs as humanely possible.
"Jakob…slowly crawl back, I'll h-" was all I had time to make out before the bloodbath began.
Eve's P.O.V
As the brick soared through the air, I silently prayed to whatever god may be listening out there and I whooped in victory as it crashed into the vampire's head, sending him straight to the floor, groaning in pain. Jakob, quick as ever, leapt for the bar, swinging it round into its head before the vampire suddenly turned from playful to pissed off. Majorly. His head snapped round as the bar crashed into his face however he simply wiped the blood from his chin before flitting and, the next thing I knew Jakob was suspended into the air, his struggles getting weaker every passing moment. I brought my hands to my mouth, preparing to see Jakob die before Michael flitted around the corner. Relief coursed through my veins and I smiled slightly, my husband…always in time.
Seeing the fight, I saw red; NO vampire hurts my baby and gets away with it that easy. Snarling, I began running towards the ladders again, swiftly making my way down the rungs. Landing at the bottom, I looked around and grabbed the first piece of wood I saw, not hard in an industrial are before running around the corner. Time froze for a second as Michael pinned him on the floor, unsure of what to do next. Mind-set, I raced forward with a very lady-like battle cry and jumped on the vampire, impaling him in, hopefully, his heart. Breathing deeply, I looked to Michael to see blood covering his shoulder before I jumped on him, hugging and kissing every part of his body humanely possible. My eyes flitted to Jakob to see his gaze drift to the floor.
