Sorry this chapter took so long. I had MAJOR writer's block. Enjoy~

Jake slowly walked up the stairs to his apartment. The Hunter Association payed for his place to stay, seeing as they wanted Jake to come down from Washington to help with the growing demon problem. As he walked into the silent apartment, he sighed. He missed Washington, but most of all, he missed his younger sister, Jade. Jade was the only family he had left.

The whole ordeal from the blond demons left Jake physically and emotionally drained. The demon who reminded him of his little brother, the orange eyed demon protecting his younger brother. All of it reminded him of that night. All that was missing was the rain. He plopped onto the couch, staring at his hands, the hands that held his brother's lifeless form. He sighed and shook it off.

"Can't think about that right now." Jake said to himself as he sat up. He then heard a knock at the door. He stood up and went to the door. When he opened the door he saw a tall, spanish man with red streaked black hair. "Rufioh! I wasn't expecting you over!" Jake said, grinning. The taller male grinned.

"Hola, Jake." Rufioh said as he walked in. "I see the move went alright?"

"Yeah. Just wish Jade could be here as well. But she's safer in Washington than here." Jake said, leaning against the door after he closed it. Rufioh nodded slowly.

"Agreed. That's why I keep Tav homeschooled." Tavros, Rufioh's nephew, was only a few years younger than him, but Samuel, Tavros's dad, died when he was a baby, his mother slowly following due to health problems. Rufioh worked as an information gatherer for the hunters, as he really doesn't believe in killing any demon. Jake respected Rufioh for that decision, because what Rufioh gathered was always spot on. Rufioh, however passive he was about demon hunting, understood how dangerous demons were, so he kept Tavros at home.

"Yeah. Jade's quick with a gun so I don't think I really need to worry." Rufioh laughed at that.

"Yeah. She's fine." Rufioh looked at him. "You okay?" Jake looked up and saw concern in his friend's eyes, at which he smiled.

"Yeah. Just a bit…ruffled up about earlier. You know why." Rufioh nodded.

"John and Jane." Rufioh said. Jake bit his lips and nodded. Rufioh sighed. "Jake, you know what I think on that. They're gone. Nothing you do will bring them back. And hunting down every orange eyed demon especially isn't."

"I know okay?" Jake said, sitting back down. " I just feel this is what I'm meant to do." Rufioh nodded.

"I understand." The two were silent for a moment. "Wanna grab a bite to eat?"

"You net, old chap."

A few days passed, and the hunters finally calmed down. John decided to take today and spend it outside. He wore one of Equius's old sweaters, the cold weather moving in. The next day he would start working with Gamzee to earn some money. He looked around before he realized he ran into someone, causing them to drop whatever they were carrying.

"S-Sorry…" John said as he helped the person pick up his….Pokemon magazines? He looked up and saw a smaller spanish looking boy about his age. He stood up and handed the boy his magazines.

"Uh… Um, thanks." The boy said, his soft, brown eyes looking down. John smiled a bit.

"You okay?" John asked. The boy looked up at him a bit surprised, but smiled slightly and nodded.

"Y-Yeah. I, uh, am Tavros. Tavros Nitram." The boy introduced himself.

"John. John Egbert. Nice to meetcha!" John said, grinning. Tavros's eyes widened, as John completely forgot his fangs. "Oh crap!" John said quickly covering his mouth.

"N-No. It's okay. I, uh, I'm a demon sympathizer…" Tavros said quietly. John looked at him wide eyed.

"R-Really?" John asked. Tavros nodded.

"My uncle and I know not all demons are bad… And… And uh, you helped me so I don't think you're bad." John smiled softly.

"I'm not." Tavros sighed in relief and smiled. John looked him over a bit and noticed Tavros has fake legs and his eyes widened.

"Oh… Right… Sorry if that's weird. I was in a bad accident as a kid…" Tavros explained.

"Oh! No! It's fine! I can understand what it's like losing something… like that." John explained. Tavros looked at him curiously. "I… I used to have wings. I… I lost them after a fight." Tavros's eyes were wide.

"So… So you're like me?" John nodded. Tavros grinned a bit. "No one else around here knows what it's like…"

"Well I do."John said with a smile.

"Well… Um… You like Pokemon?"
