Well, I'm back! Not quite a month! This is a short chapter, but I wanted to get something out there for you all in case I can't get back to writing for a bit. This month has been especially busy! Thank you all for the wonderful reviews...again I am overwhelmed! Anyway, a lot of angst and emotion in this one, plus a little bit of scary at the end. Hope you like it :D

"Dad, maybe we should just tell him," Dean said.
"No! He doesn't need to know that he has a demon stalking him and he doesn't need to know that he is Samuel Worthington reincarnated!" John snarled.
"So, what are we going to do then?" Daniel asked.
"We figure this all out and we don't tell Sam!"
"Tell me what, Dad?"
The four hunters turned their faces up to see Sam standing at the top of the stairs, his eyes filled with pain, fear and anger.

John opened his mouth to speak, but when no words came, Sam took one step down toward the four men below and stopped. "Tell me what, Dad!?" he cried angrily.
"Sam, it isn't anything you need to worry about. Just let it go," John finally said as he stared up at his youngest son.
Sam's mouth fell open upon his father's words, his body vibrating with anger and hurt. This was his life and he was just supposed to let it go? No way was that going to happen. He'd had enough of being kept in the dark and it was high time his family knew it. "Let it go?" he asked softly, his hazel eyes wide as he started to slowly descend the stairs. "You want me to let it go? I'm just supposed to sit in the dark while you guys merrily go about lying to me!? Is that it, Dad!?" he hissed as he got to the bottom of the stairs.
"Sammy…" Daniel started as he reached for his brother's arm. Sam didn't want to hear it though, and the look he gave his brother stopped the young man before another word could be spoken.
"I should have died! Why didn't I? What stopped me from hitting the ground? Why did the magician want me so badly? This is my life! I have the right to know! I don't deserve to be lied to…not by you guys!"
John stepped forward and looked his youngest son in the eye. He wanted to grab him and pull him to him, encircle him in his protective arms, but he knew that was probably the worst thing he could do at that moment. Sam was upset, and rightfully so, but how could he tell him? How could he tell his baby that he was reincarnated, that his soul had once belonged to another? How could he tell him that a demon stalked him, had essentially saved him more than once? What answers could he give his son as to why? He had no answers, at least not for the demon and he only had a guess as to why Samuel Worthington's soul had chosen Sam. Finally, after several long moments, John spoke.
"Sam, please don't blame your brothers for this. They wanted to tell you, but I wouldn't let them. I felt it was best that you didn't know right now. Hell, I don't even know most of it."
Sam faced his father, the hurt and anger still present in his eyes. "You know a hell of a lot more than I do, Dad! I want to know what you are keeping from me. You have Bobby researching like crazy and you have Dean and Danny lying to me! I want to know now, Dad!"
Anger rose in John as he stared his son down. He understood Sam's frustration, but he also knew what the truth would do to him. "I know you're angry, Sam, but you are not allowed to take that tone with me! I am you father and I know what's best!"
"Father's don't generally lie to their sons, Dad! What are you going to do? Huh? Keep it all from me…have Dean and Danny follow me around for the rest of my life to protect me from something you don't even feel I have the right to know about!? You can't be there all of the time, Dad! I have to be able to protect myself and if you don't tell me what's going on, how can I do that!?" Sam shouted before suddenly pushing through the men and storming out the door, the screen door banging harshly as he slammed it shut.
John sighed as he turned to Dean and Daniel, his dark eyes filled with sadness and remorse. "Go and keep an eye on him, but give him his space, okay? I need to think about a few things," he said gruffly as he turned and walked toward Bobby's den.
"Yes, sir," Daniel said with a look of concern as he watched his father disappear into the darkened room. Bobby stood still, as if unsure of what to do, before he finally mumbled something about fixing dinner and walked away to the kitchen.
Daniel and Dean found Sam within the junkyard sitting on the ground and leaning against a rusted old beater that had definitely seen better days. He looked up when their shadows fell over him and rolled his eyes. "Just…don't, okay? Leave me alone…I've had enough babysitting for the day," he said softly as he turned his eyes away and stared out over the vast piles of broken down cars.
"You know we can't do that, Sammy," Dean said as he took a step closer to his pissed off little brother.
Sam jerked his head around, his eyes wide and nostrils flared as he met the middle brothers gaze. "No! I don't know that because you won't tell me! You're in it with Dad to keep me in the dark and…and I thought we were brothers! I thought we didn't keep secrets from one another!" he shouted as he suddenly pushed himself up from the ground and turned on his brothers. "You both know it's wrong, but if Dad says jump, you do it! Screw me and my right to know something that directly affects my life!"
Dean's face reddened as sudden anger filled him. "Like you didn't keep a secret from us? Huh, Sammy?" he said as he stepped right up to Sam and poked him in the chest.
"Dean, take it easy," Daniel said, the eldest brother stepping forward to place himself next to the two angry hunters.
"No, Danny! He says we don't keep secrets from each other, but he lies! He's being a little jerk and it's pissing me off!" Dean hissed.
"What secret did I keep from you? Tell, me, Dean…what secret?" Sam asked, the younger brother poking his brother right back.
"Oh, I don't know, Sam…how about the recurring dream you kept having about that house and the caped figure? Ringing any bells, Sam!?"
Sam stepped back, his mouth falling open as he stared at his brother. He shook his head as he stepped back and leaned against the car. "I didn't keep a secret from you and I didn't lie, Dean! It was just a dream…that's all!"
"But we know it wasn't just a dream! That house existed! That caped figure was real…and you almost died, Sam!" Dean shouted, the young man seething as Daniel stepped between he and his younger brother.
"I didn't know it wasn't just a dream at the time! Not until everything went down! I'm so sorry I didn't call you right up and tell you so you could have further proof about how useless I am on my own!" Sam shouted back, his hands shaking as he pushed away from the car.
"Alright! That's enough! You two knock it off before I smack your heads together!" Daniel snapped as he glared from one brother to the other.
Dean stepped back and shook his head. "We don't think you're useless, Sammy," he finally said in a much calmer voice.
Sam looked at his brother and sighed. "You obviously do. You don't think I can handle knowing the truth about what's going on, you and Danny follow me around everywhere I go and…and the way you all look at me…it's like you think I'm going to break at any moment or something. You all clam up whenever I come into the room and you all must think I'm really stupid. Do you know how that makes me feel? It makes me feel like I'm an inch tall, Dean. Why can't you guys just trust me for a change?" he asked softly as he stepped around Daniel and began to walk toward the house.
"Sammy…where are you going?" Daniel called after a quick glance at Dean's suddenly pale face.
Sam stopped and turned his head to look at his brother. "I'm going up to my room. I'll be in the house so you don't have to worry about my useless ass getting into trouble," he said, his voice filled with defeat as he once again started for the house.
"Sammy…" Dean started.
"Just let him go, Dean. I don't think he'll listen to anything we have to say right about now," Daniel said, his hand grasping Dean's arm when the younger brother started after Sam.
Dean turned to Daniel and sighed. "I shouldn't have said all that crap to him, Danny," he said softly, his green eyes watching as Sam disappeared into the house.
"No, you shouldn't have, but you were angry…things were getting a bit out of hand and…"
"Doesn't matter," Dean interrupted, "I should have kept my cool. He has a right to be pissed at us and he has a right to yell and scream because we…I deserve it."
"Dean, it's just messed up right now. Dad'll figure it out and we'll move on and everything will go back to normal. Well, as normal as they can be for us," Daniel said sympathetically.
"He thinks that we see him as useless…and worse, it seems he thinks that too. Does he really think we would have thought less of him if he had told us about his dream?"
"You have to admit, Dean…the way we are with Sam most of the time…we do look at him like he could break or something because we're so damned afraid of losing him. It's so hard to let go…for all of us…and I can see where he would take it as us believing he can't take care of himself," Daniel explained.
Dean looked at his brother with watery eyes then brushed his hand over his face. "I'm scared shitless, Danny. I know the magician isn't a threat anymore, but that yellow eyed son of a bitch is and…and I just want this all to be over! Sammy has had enough…we've all had enough! I want my little brother to be able to go back to school and do all the things that he should be able to do without worrying about what's waiting around the corner for him! I don't want to feel this constant gnawing in my gut that at any time we could lose him for good…and I want to know why every fucking thing has to happen to him! Why him?" he cried as the tears spilled over his lids and down his cheeks.
Daniel reached for his brother and pulled him into his strong arms. Dean sagged against his brother and allowed himself to be consoled, though he would deny it ever happening if the subject was brought up in the future. "I don't know why these things always happen to him, Dean. We've asked that question I don't know how many times and there just isn't an answer," he whispered as he held his brother tight.
After a few moments, Dean pulled away and lightly punched Daniel's arm. "Such a girl," he murmured as he turned and headed toward the house. Daniel chuckled lightly then followed his brother. He glanced up at a window on the second floor and sighed. He wanted to go up to his baby brother and tell him everything that he knew. He wanted to tell him that everything was going to be okay, but he didn't know if that would be a lie or not. Somehow it seemed as though it would be because of any of the possible reasons he could think of for having a demon stalking you, none of them were good. A demon saving Sam's life could only mean trouble in the end and as much as Daniel was grateful to still have his brother, he was equally terrified as to why.

Up in his room, tucked away under a pile of blankets, Sam slept, his body twitching occasionally and soft cries escaping his trembling lips. His eyes darted back and forth under his closed lids as new images played through his slumbering mind…images he had never dreamt before. The house and caped figure were gone, replaced by a dark, barren landscape. Bodies littered the ground, bodies burned beyond recognition and Sam's stomach roiled with the smell of the burnt flesh. Screams of terror and pain filled the night and dream Sam stood, listening to it all, unable to remember why he was there. He was alone with nothing but the blackness and the screams to keep him company, but then without warning there was someone beside him and Sam couldn't stop himself from turning his head to look. A man stood not more than a foot from him, his eyes closed, a smile on his pale lips and when the man turned his head and opened his eyes, dream Sam gasped as glowing yellow eyes stared back at him. The man spoke then and dream Sam wished he couldn't hear because what the yellow eyed man said made his blood run cold.
"We did this, Sammy boy…you and I. I knew that when I chose you, I had chosen well. Rest now, my son as we have so much more to do. Soon the entire world will be ours…"
The yellow eyed man disappeared as quickly as he had appeared and when Sam realized what the man had meant, he dropped to his knees in the burned grass and he screamed…and screamed…and screamed.
Well, that is it for now. Hope it was worth the wait. Can't wait to hear what you all have to say.
Cindy
