Eridan glared at his book a bit, reading it as he walked. He hated the idea of having to go out with Sollux and Rose. Well, that was half right, but still. Being on the same team as Sollux always put Eridan on edge, causing him to be a bit distracted. Rose knew why. Speaking of Rose, how could she do this?! She knows why you don't like working with Sollux, yet she still volunteered you to go with him.
That's right, on the outside, Eridan and Sollux hated each other's guts, but, on the inside, Eridan wanted something else, something leaning less towards rivals and more towards something…romantic. But, Eridan knew that would never happen. Sollux never showed any signs of loving anything besides his laptop. So, being rivals at least showed Eridan he rose some sort of emotions out of Sollux. "My bro mutht be in Heaven with you not around. Oh wait, he ith." Sollux snarked at him. Eridan's other hand clenched in his pocket.
"Now, Sollux, back off." Rose warned Sollux. Sollux sighed and better hid his black wings in his jacket.
"Yeah… Okay." Sollux replied as he walked with them. Eridan kept looking at his book, Harry Potter and The Prisoner Of Azkaban. Sollux slowly pulled his phone out to read the shopping list.
Rose looked at Sollux. "What is it we need?"
"Let'th thee… Apple juice, meat, meat and did I mention meat?" Sollux replied with a bit of sarcasm at the end. Rose chuckled a bit.
"Well, we can't help what we are." Rose stated. Sollux chuckled a bit and looked at Eridan.
"Hey, Ampora. Why tho thilent?" Sollux asked. Eridan kept his gaze at his book.
"W-Well… I hav-ve no reason to talk." Eridan replied.
"Keeps him out of trouble." Rose said, looking back at her own book.
"Tho… What book are you reading now?" Sollux asked.
Eridan turned his attention back to his book, only hearing a few words from the others. When he heard Sollux start to stumble with words due to his dyslexia, and Rose helping him, he couldn't help but smirk at him. However, Sollux saw the smirk and growled deeply, his fists clenching.
"Thut up, fithbreathe." Sollux growled.
"I didn't say anythin." Eridan replied.
"You thmirked. Don't you f*cking lie."
"Yes. But last time I checked that wasn't sayin anything." Eridan retorted with a smirk. Suddenly, Sollux shoved Eridan against the wall, gripping his shirt. Eridan felt his heart beat quicken a bit as he looked into Sollux's deep blue eyes.
"I f*cking hate your thnide remarkth…" Sollux growled out to him. Rose pulled the two apart. "You two! Quit acting childish!" Rose chided. Sollux growled and turned away while Eridan brushed himself off, holding back the slew of curses he wanted to let loose. Sollux shivered a bit.
"Damn my mood thwingth…" Rose patted Sollux's back.
"Just calm down." She said. He sighed and rubbed his temples before nodding. Eridan rolled his eyes and kept walking, soon followed by Sollux and Rose. Sollux shivered a bit.
"Why ith it tho cold?!" Sollux said, shivering as he held his jacket closer.
"It's w-winter in Texas that's w-why." Eridan replied, looking at the sky. Sollux also looked at the sky, not noticing the rock in his path as he tripped and landed on Eridan. Both boys gasped as they fell to the ground. Eridan, having heard Sollux gasp as he fell, landed on his back, and cussed slightly before noticing the smaller male laying on top of him. Eridan couldn't believe it. His heart was beating quickly and he was in shock. Sollux blinked a few times before getting onto his knees and elbows, looking down at the taller blond.
"Are… Aren't you going to thay thomething?" Sollux asked. Eridan shook his head quickly and pushed Sollux off him.
"G-Get off me!" Eridan yelled as he stood up and brushed himself off. Sollux stared at Eridan for a moment before chuckling and floating to his side.
"Did you like me on top of you or something?" Sollux smirked. Eridan's eyes widened for a moment as he blushed slightly, before trying to change the subject.
"Idiot! Don't float! A human or hunter could see you!" Eridan said. Sollux laughed and let himself plop back onto the ground. Eridan quickly turned around to continue walking. He couldn't let Sollux figure it out after years of keeping his feelings hidden. Eridan heard Sollux chuckle before Sollux walked to his side. Eridan tried to control his blush as he did so.
"Hey… ED." Sollux started. "You're blushing."
"Crap…" Eridan thought to himself before looking away. "No I'm not." Sollux stood in front of him.
"Yeth you are." Sollux stated. Eridan simply walked around him,feeling Rose's knowing stare on him. Sollux looked around, before nodding and hovering over Eridan's head. "Don't lie, ED." Sollux whispered next to Eridan's ear. "You know you want these lipth." Eridan jumped a bit, his blush deepening.
"D-Don't flatter yourself, Sol." Eridan said. Sollux does a small flip in the air.
"I thaw that… That little jump." Sollux whispered again.
"Sol… Please don't do that." Eridan said as he walked a bit faster. Sollux did another flip, hanging upside down, his shirt falling a bit.
"Don't do what?" Sollux asked. Eridan blushed a bit more.
"Just… Walk like a normal person… Please?" Eridan asked. "Someone could appear at any moment…" Sollux pouted a bit and landed next to him.
"Fine. You thtill want me though." Sollux said. Eridan walked past him.
"Wh-Whatev-ver…" Eridan said.
After picking up all the food they needed, Eridan walked out of the store with Rose and Sollux before seeing a few of the guys who helped capture John. "Oh shit." Eridan said as he pulled Rose and Sollux to the nearest alleyway. Sollux quickly put his bags down and crouched into a hunting position as he looked around the corner at the men.
"There are two hunterth and a civilian over there…" Sollux stated. Eridan cursed under his breathe. "They don't know we're here yet." Sollux explained. Eridan and Rose nodded as they set their bags down. The two hunters and the civilian walk into the store they had just left. The civilian walked back out quickly and looked around. Sollux's eyes widened as he smelled something. "I…. I don't think that guy ith a normal human…"
"Wh-What do you mean?" Eridan asked.
"He thmells different. He thmellth… sweet." Sollux explained. Eridan looked at him confused, causing him to sigh. "Latht time I thmelt that, wath when we captured John." Eridan's eyes widened.
"An angel…" Eridan stated. Sollux got a good look at the angel, before growling.
"And not just any angel." Sollux growled as the angel looked right at them. Eridan gasped as the angel looked at them. He looked just like Sollux, except with red eyes and glasses instead of blue.
"Hello, Brother." Pollux said, staring right at Sollux. Eridan and Rose's eyes widened at that. Sollux sighed.
"Yeah, hello to you too, Pollux." Sollux said, glaring at him. Pollux turned his gaze to Rose and Eridan and Eridan met his gaze. Sollux looked at Pollux with a threatening glare before looking at Eridan. "ED, you and Rose get the hell out of here. Go get Dave. I can hold them off long enough." Sollux said.
"Really?" Pollux asked a bit surprised Sollux even thought he could.
"Sol…. He has two hunters with him. I am not leaving you alone." Eridan said, standing beside him and pulling his rifle out of it's hiding spot.
"I'll go get Dave." Rose said. Sollux growled at Pollux and nodded at Rose.
"Hurry." Sollux said, before Rose nodded and ran towards the sewer entrance. Sollux pulled his throwing stars out and hovered off the ground a bit just as the hunters came running out of the store. Eridan readied his gun, as Sollux looked at him. "ED, you take the hunters." Eridan nodded. Pollux quickly drew his lance, as Eridan aimed his gun at the hunters. "Hey. ED." Sollux started. Eridan looked at him from the corner of his eye. "If I die here, I jutht want you to know… I thought it wath cute when you bluthed." Sollux admitted before crouching, ready to attack Pollux. Eridan blushed a bit but quickly calmed himself.
"N-Not the time for that, Sol! And you're not gonna die here!" Eridan said, shooting one of the hunters in the shoulder as he charged Eridan. Pollux also started charging Sollux, aiming his lance. Sollux threw some stars, his blue eyes glowing as he used his powers to control them. Pollux quickly raises his lance to deflect them.
Eridan, however, got caught up in his own fight. The other hunter rushed Eridan and tackled him to the ground, pinning his arms to the ground. Eridan growled at him and kicked him in the gut with his knee. The hunter gasped a bit and gripped Eridan's wrists tighter. Eridan then used his knee to throw the guy off him. Eridan got back on his feet and shot the guy in the chest, killing him instantly. However, the other hunter ran behind him and held his own rifle to Eridan's neck, pulling back, choking him. Eridan dropped his gun, to move his hands back up to try to pull the gun away.
Sollux, who had just been knocked off Pollux by his wings, rolled away from Pollux and stood up and looked at Eridan. "Thhit! ED!" Sollux yelled, Eridan noticing the concern in Sollux's voice.
"LET GO OF FISHIE!" Eridan's eyes widened as little Nepeta jumped onto the hunter, causing the hunter to lose his grip on Eridan. Eridan fell to his hands and knees as he put a hand to his neck as he started to catch his breathe. Eridan then watched as Nepeta proceeded to rip both the hunter's nose and ear off. He grabbed his gun and stood up.
"Nepeta! Let me finish him!" She looked at him and nodded before standing up and letting Eridan stand over him, shooting him between the eyes. Nepeta grinned and stood next to Eridan. "Thanks, Nep." He said, receiving a smile and nod from the younger demon.
Pollux used this opportunity to pounce on Sollux again. Sollux gasped and wrapped his hands around Pollux's neck, who simply grabbed his hands and pulled them away from his neck. Sollux then kicked him off him and did a flip to get back up. Pollux gasped and stood up, grabbing his lance and aiming it at Sollux. Sollux looked at Pollux, his eyes unfocused. As Pollux started running, he suddenly got tackled by John. Pollux looked up at John with wide eyes. "J-John?!"
"Don't hurt them, Pollux!" John yelled, earning a hate filled glare from Pollux who kicked him in the stomach.
Eridan saw Sollux start to waver and ran to his side. "I got ya." Eridan said, holding him up. Sollux looked up at Eridan.
"What…. Pollux… Where ith he?" Eridan looked over at John and Pollux, John successfully pinning him down. Dave walked over to Pollux and stepped on his throat.
"How badly are you hurt, Sollux?" Dave asked, looking at him. Sollux grunts a bit.
"O-Only a little…" Sollux gasped out. Eridan held him close, making sure he didn't fall. Sollux leaned against Eridan, his breathe coming in gasps. Eridan looked at Pollux with pure hatred. He hated seeing Sollux like this. Dave slammed his foot on Pollux's wing.
"John, take this guy away." Dave ordered. John nodded and pulled Pollux up. Sollux slowly looked up at Eridan, blinking. A bruise was forming where the hunter had tried to choke him. Sollux slowly moved his hand to Eridan's neck causing him to flinch.
"ED…." Sollux said, rubbing the bruise a bit. Eridan's heart started beating quickly again. "Hold thtill…"
John started walking with Pollux. Pollux glared a bit and whispered. "Be glad I'm tied up, Egbert." Dave growled at him, kicking him in the side.
"Please, Pollux. Don't fight." John said. Pollux glared at him.
"Thhut up, traitor." Dave growled at Pollux and kicked him again.
"Get him out of here." Dave ordered. John pulled Pollux away. Eridan growled a bit at Pollux, glare dripping with hatred.
"Calm down, fish boy." Dave said, looking at Eridan. Eridan took a few deep breathes before feeling Sollux start to fall.
"And down I go…" Sollux said as he fell. Eridan held him close, going onto his knees to keep Sollux steady. "The f*cker wath draining my life energy…" Sollux said, causing Eridan to hold him closer.
"You'll be okay, right?"
"Yeah… I think tho…" Sollux said. Eridan nodded and looked at Nepeta.
"Help me put him on my back." Nepeta nodded and helped Eridan get Sollux on his back. Sollux weakly wrapped his arms around Eridan's neck.
"Thankth…." Sollux whispered.
"Yeah yeah."
As they arrived at the hideout, Rose and Aradia helped put the food away while the rest of the demons went to the sleeping area. Eridan carried Sollux to his bed and helped him into it. Sollux laid down with a sigh and closed his eyes. Eridan looked around and sat down on the floor next to Sollux's bed, back to the bed.
Eridan breathed a deep sigh of relief. Sollux was gonna be okay. He just needed some rest. Eridan closed his eyes and rested his head against the edge of the bed. Suddenly, he felt Sollux's hand petting his head. He smirked a bit and leaned back more. Then, he felt something soft on his forehead and his eyes widened when he realized it was Sollux, kissing his forehead. Sollux chuckled a bit and sat up. Eridan quickly turned around, getting on his knees. Sollux smiled a bit and cupped Eridan's face with one of his hands.
"I wathn't kidding when I thaid I thought you were cute when you bluthhed." Sollux said, rubbing Eridan's cheek with his thumb. Eridan's eyes widened and he blushed, putting his hand on Sollux's. "Ithn't thith the time I uthually thay thhitty thtuff?" Sollux joked.
"Sh-Shut up, Sol." Eridan said, looking away.
"Make me."
"That a challenge?"
Sollux chuckled and laid back on his back. "Maybe." Eridan looked back at Sollux before smirking and climbing onto the bed, and leaning over him. Both boys blushed a bit, locking eyes with each other. "What are you gonna do, ED?" Sollux asked, getting a bit lost in Eridan's almost purple eyes.
Eridan met his challenge, and leaned down. And kissed him.
