A/N: I know that Hermes met Percabeth when they go his staff back, but shhhh… Just let me write.
Hermes hated the holiday season, and there were multiple reasons why. One, he didn't celebrate Christmas! Okay, so the colorful lights, fat men in red suits and constant gift-giving was great. But since he was the Greek god of travelers, he wasn't Christian, and didn't have a sentimental attachment to the holiday. Second reason, given that he was the god of messengers, he oversaw the postal system. Since everybody and their mother was sending presents across the world, he was working day and night. Sure, he was immortal and didn't get tired, but it was boring. And totally not fair, Apollo got to set the sun super early, and party all night.
No wonder Hermes was a little cranky. He'd just had to explain to a cyclops why he couldn't mail a live Chimera to the cyclops' cousin, so he could keep it as a pet.
Hermes rubbed his temples and shuffled out of his office, down Mount Olympus, and took the elevator to the lobby of the Empire State Building. He needed a break.
Unlike some of his family members, Hermes greatly appreciated the mortal world. Even though he still had to keep his phone on, and had George and Martha nagging in his ear, he could go to the mortal world and not have quite as much to worry about. The god could walk the streets of New York without being stopped and asked a million questions about when the next issue of Olympus Monthly was being mailed out or why the Hermes Express shipping rates had gone up again. Being a god was tough work.
Hermes loosened his tie and ran his hand through his hair, ruffling the gel holding it in place. He found himself walking over to a quiet coffee shop, smiling as the bell on the door rang as he opened it.
Hermes absentmindedly ordered a coffee, winked at the barista and threw a few coins in the tip jar. He was completely zoned out and almost didn't notice the teenagers, sitting in a corner and hissing his name. His head turned in their direction, an arched eyebrow raising.
In a lone table in the corner were sitting the heroes of Olympus and his cousins, Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase.
He didn't have a problem with the son of Poseidon, but Hermes couldn't help but be a little bit bitter at the daughter of Athena. She was a close friend of his late son, and a part of the god's mind wondered if she could have saved him. He shook the thought out of his head, she was sixteen, what could she have done?
Maybe he wouldn't be as bitter if he didn't know exactly what a sixteen year old demigod could do. The two of them defeated the entire Titan Army, with the help of their small demigod troops, the Party Ponies and the Hunters of Artemis. They weren't weak. Snapping back to reality, Hermes grabbed his coffee and made his way over to the pair.
"Lord Hermes," Percy said, offering him a seat. Annabeth nodded in his direction, avoiding eye contact.
They were pressed against each other in the booth, though Hermes didn't understand why one of them hadn't just taken the seat on the other side of the table. He noticed that Percy had an arm around Annabeth, pressing her to his chest.
Oh. Apparently, Aphrodite's plans had succeeded and Percy and Annabeth were a… thing
"Hello Percy," Hermes said. "Annabeth."
Annabeth forced a smile, "Its nice to see you, Lord Hermes. How are you doing?"
He shrugged, "Eh, busy. And you two?"
Percy blushed and linked his fingers with Annabeth's. "I'm good."
"Same," she agreed.
The situation quickly became awkward, Percy and Annabeth were making heart eyes at each other, and Hermes excused himself.
As he walked out of the shop, he saw Percy tilting Annabeth's chin up, smiling as he kissed her.
"That was… uncomfortable." Annabeth said as Hermes got up from his seat and left.
Percy shrugged, "I guess. Hermes isn't bad, though."
She wrinkled her nose, "He doesn't like me. I guess he thinks I could've done something about Luke."
"He died a hero."
Annabeth nodded, "I know he did. He saved the day in the end."
Percy tucked a piece of Annabeth's hair behind her ear, "I love you."
"Not as much as I love you."
Percy grinned and put a few fingers under Annabeth's chin, tilting it up towards him. Annabeth put a hand on his chest, smiling into their kiss.
A/N: Sorry, this is a tad late, I had a SUPER busy weekend. I got asked for some fluff, so I tried to incorporate some in this drabble. Please leave me some prompts! I need them to live! (And to write.) So tell me, if you're in the US, what are you doing for Thanksgiving?
