Chapter Fifty
Cerulean Gym (1:15 p.m.)
As we left our heroes, Dawn have made it through the appeal rounds with Kenny and Zoey competing in the battling round too.
Dawn is up in her first battle against a trainer from the Hoeen region named Duke.
Dawn: Okay Piplup, Spotlight!
Piplup: Piplup!
Duke: Make me proud.
Kisses the button of the Pokéball.
Duke: Go Blaziken!
Blaziken: BLAAAZIKEN!
Dawn: A Blaziken huh, this might be a easy match since it's a Fire type but it is in its final evolve form from a Torchic. Ready Piplup?
Piplup: Piplup! (Nodded his head)
Duke: Blaziken get ready too! Catch and Mega Ring activate!
Blaziken caught the Mega Stone and Duke press the Mega Ring's stone on his finger and Blaziken begins to Mega Evolve into Mega Blaziken.
Dawn: Mega Blaziken?
Ash and Brock: MEGA BLAZIKEN!
Pikachu: PIIKAAAAAAA!
Dawn: Piplup let's do our, use Whirlpool!
Piplup: PIIIIIPLUUUUUUUP!
Mega Blaziken is hit by the super effective move but it looks like it could hardly got hurt by the attack.
Dawn: Oh no!
Duke: Blaziken use Sky Uppercut!
Mega Blaziken went full speed and use Sky Uppercut against Piplup and he took quite a lot of damage but he's haves a strong spirit to keep fighting.
Dawn: Are you okay Piplup?
Piplup: Pip Piplup!
Dawn: Okay use Peck on Blaziken!
Blaziken gets hit again with a super effective move, again Mega Blaziken didn't took too much damage at all
Duke: Finish this Blaziken, use Fire Pledge!
Mega Blaziken stomp the ground and pillars of fire start to rise from the ground and Piplup is engulfed in flames and he is unable to battle!
Lilian Meridian: Piplup is unable to battle which means Duke's Blaziken have won the first round of the battle tournament.
Dawn: We lost. (Said sadly)
Dawn goes to Piplup side to she thank him for his best efforts today.
Dawn: Piplup I'm sorry for getting you hurt. You must hate me a lot.
Piplup: Pip Piplup! (Piplup disagreed)
Dawn: Here and take a long rest.
Dawn recall her Piplup back into his ball to rest and she left the arena stage and she is confronted by her two good friends, Zoey and Kenny.
Kenny: Dawn are you okay?
Dawn: Yeah no need to worry, there's always more contest to win anyway. (Dawn smile back at her friends but deep in her thoughts she is depress)
Zoey: Well I hope you win your next contest because I'm going to watch you compete in it.
Dawn: Really?
Zoey: Yeah and that's what friends are for.
Dawn: Thank you very much it means so much to me.
Ash: Hey Dawn, you're okay?
Dawn: I'll be fine, no need to worry Ash.
Brock: Here I brought this to cheer you up.
Dawn: Thanks Brock.
Brock gave Dawn dessert from a table with delicious food of the main hallway of the gym.
Dawn: This is so good.
Pikachu: Pika Pikachu!
Dawn: A Oran Berry?
Ash: Pikachu wanted to give you this for Piplup.
Dawn: Thank you so much Pikachu.
Pikachu: Pika Pika!
Dawn rub Pikachu's head
Pikachu: Chaaaaaaa!
Dawn calls out Piplup and gave the Oran Berry to Piplup to regain its strength.
Dawn: How is it Piplup?
Piplup: PIPLUUUP!
Piplup enjoy the Oran Berry and he hops onto Dawn's arms.
Dawn: Hey Zoey I'll be cheering you on and same goes for you Kenny.
Kenny: Thanks!
Zoey: Looks like it's my turn so wish me luck.
Zoey headed towards the stage for her battle to begin while Dawn watches her match a coordinator from the Orre region which is far west of Johto.
Ash, Brock and Dawn went to take a seat with Misty watching the contest.
Misty: Sorry for what happen today Dawn.
Dawn: It's okay, there's always next time.
Ash: I'll be back; I'm going to get some fresh air outside.
Dawn: Okay and I'll watch over Pikachu for you.
Ash: Okay thanks.
Ash went outside the Cerulean Gym and he sees Duke with his Blaziken.
Duke: Hey are you Ash Ketchum?
Ash: Why yes, do I know you?
Duke: No I have you seen you battle in the Unova League and I must say that Reshiram of yours is something.
Ash: Thanks and I see you have a Mega Ring on your finger.
Duke: Ahh yes, this was a gift for me by my grandmother who was from the Kalos region but later in her life she moved to Petalburg City in the Hoenn region.
Ash: Where did you meet your Blaziken by the way?
Duke: Blaziken happens to be my starter Pokémon when it was a Torchic from Professor Birch.
Ash: Hey I know Professor Birch too.
Duke: Well it seems that we two things in common, how about a Pokémon battle with me?
Ash: Sure.
Duke: Does a one on one Pokémon battle sounds good to you with only Mega Evolution.
Ash: Yeah, I'll be using my Heracross to battle.
Duke: A Bug type huh, you sure your fine with that choice?
Ash: Yeah, I sometimes don't use type advantages to win, I'll use strategy to win most of my battles.
Duke: Okay then so Blaziken are you ready?
Blaziken: Blaazikenn!
Ash: Okay let's get this battle started, Heracross I choose you!
Duke: Battle, begin!
Both trainers touch the stone within their Mega Ring as they both toss the Blazikenite and Heracronite stones towards their respective Pokémon.
Both Pokémon begin to Mega Evolve into their Mega forms.
Heracross is now both Bug and a Fighting type Pokémon while Blaziken's type is the same but it has a special ability called Speed Boost which increases its speed over time.
Duke: You make have the first move Ash.
Ash: Alright then, Heracross use Aerial Ace!
Duke: Dodge and Sky Uppercut!
Blaziken dodge the attack and its about to close into Heracross but Ash order it to block the attack with its arms.
Ash: Great and now use Giga Impact!
Blaziken took major amounts of damage from Giga Impact but Heracross is unable to move for a little while!
Duke: This is your chance Blaziken, Blaze Kick!
Ash: I don't think so, use Protect!
Heracross protected itself with Protect.
Ash: Now use Stone Edge at Blaziken!
Heracross knocks out Blaziken with a super effective move and it is unable to battle.
Duke: Blaziken return, you did wonderful my friend. Ash I must say that you are a skilled trainer and I hope one day we meet and battle another time but now I'm on my way to earn my third ribbon at the Pokémon Contest.
Duke left for the Cerulean Gym to compete in his second battle.
Ash: You did great Heracross, return.
Heracross change back into its original form and he is recall back into its Pokéball.
Ash goes back to the gym and sees Duke just beat Kenny in his second battle.
Dawn: Poor Kenny.
Brock: I must say that this coordinator is very strong but why didn't he Mega evolve his Blaziken?
Ash joins Brock, Dawn and Misty who are watching Kenny battling against Duke.
Ash: Duke didn't Mega evolve because I had a battle with him twenty minutes ago.
Brock: I see.
Ash: How did Zoey do?
Dawn: She won her first and second match and only one more.
Ash: That's great.
Dawn: Her last match will begin in fifteen minutes against Duke.
Misty: How did you do in the battle with Duke, Ash?
Ash: I won with my Heracross against his Blaziken in its Mega form.
Brock: Amazing, a Bug type beating a Fire and Fighting type.
Ash: When Heracross is in its Mega form it's both Bug and Fighting type.
Dawn: Hey let's go to the main hallway to wish Zoey good luck in her final battle.
Ash: Yeah let's go.
The four trainers found Kenny who was a little disappointed that he lost.
Dawn: Hey Kenny.
Kenny: Hey everyone.
Brock: We're sorry that you lost.
Kenny: It's no big deal, there's always next time but I better get going so that I can train a lot for my next contest so tell Zoey that I sad" Good luck:.
Dawn: Got it and goodbye.
Everyone shook Kenny's hand as they goodbye to him and wishing him good luck in his training.
Zoey then appears in front of the four trainers.
Zoey: Hey you guys.
Dawn: Hey Zoey.
Brock: Goodluck in the finals, Zoey.
Ash: Yeah and remember don't let that guy beat you. I suggest using defense as your strategy to win.
Zoey: Thanks Ash.
Misty: Here's something for good luck Zoey.
Misty handed a Casade badge to Zoey for good luck since some people that obtain the badge have good luck.
Zoey: Thank you so much Misty and I'll do my best out there today.
Dawn: So who are you going to use in your battle?
Zoey: I'll be using Gallade.
Brock: Perfect choice; a Psychic type has a high advantage against a Fighting type like Blaziken.
MC: Zoey please report to the contest stage.
Zoey: Well I better get going.
Dawn: Right and good luck.
Zoey: Thanks and I'll try my best.
Zoey headed to the stage to face against Duke with his Blaziken.
Lilian Meridian: The battle between Zoey from Snowpoint City and Duke from Petalburg City is now begin.
Zoey: Gallade come on out!
Duke: Blaziken go!
Both coordinators release their Pokémon into battle. Zoey gets the first move.
Zoey: Gallade, use Sword Dance!
Gallade uses Sword Dance and it raises its Attack power.
Duke: Blaziken use Blaze Kick!
Zoey: Dodge!
Gallade dodge the attack and Duke lost a few points for failing the attack!
Zoey: Now use Psycho Cut!
Blaziken is hit really hard by the super effective move but it is still standing very strong!
Duke: This better work.
Duke tossed the Mega Stone to Blaziken and activates his Mega Ring but Blaziken is unable to Mega Evolve since it was a little worn out by the battle with Ash earlier.
Duke: Looks like we do this the old fashion way Blaziken, use Extremespeed!
Blaziken goes full speed on Gallage and did some major damage to the Blade Pokémon.
Zoey: You alright?
Gallade: Gallade! (nodded back to its trainer)
Zoey: Great now use Psychic!
Gallade used Psychic attack on Blaziken and it was very hurt badly that it could hardly battle anymore.
Duke: Blaziken use Blaze Kick!
Blaziken closes into Gallade but it dodge the attack and use Psycho Cut once more and knock out Blaziken.
Lilian Meridian: Blaziken is unable to battle and our today's winner is Zoey and her Gallade.
The crowd cheers and same goes for Ash and co.
Dawn's thoughts: I knew she could do it. Great work.
Dawn is smiling for her friend's victory today.
Lilian hands the Cerulean Ribbon to Zoey for her victory today and Duke thank Zoey for a great battle and soon he departs from the stage.
Zoey meets Dawn and everyone else.
Dawn: Congratulation ZOey!
Zoey: Thanks Dawn.
Ash: I say that your battle style has improve a lot.
Brock: I agree and I also made this for your Pokémon and yourself. So enjoy.
Zoey: Thanks you two.
Dawn: So where are you heading next Zoey!
Zoey: I'm not sure yet but I'll be training a lot for my next contest and also I have heard that the Wallace Cup is coming to Kanto.
Dawn: The Wallace Cup! (said with joy)
Zoey: Yeah!
Dawn: Where is it going to take place at and when?
Zoey: Cinnabar Island.
Ash: I remember when I was in Cinnabar Island. That's where I earned my seventh badge.
Misty: Earned?
Ash: Will I guess my third badge that I really earn.
Zoey: Well it's been great seeing you all but I must now get going. So till next time.
Everyone: Bye!
Zoey leaves the Cerulean Gym.
Misty: So where are you three heading?
Brock is looking through his PokéGear and sees that Celadon City is having a contest there in one week.
Brock: Looks like we are going to Celadon City.
Dawn: I can't wait to earn my second ribbon.
Ash: So I guess we should hit the road.
Dawn: Yeah and thanks for having the Pokémon Contest being held here and here is something for you.
Dawn gave her a Piplup fishing lure.
Misty: It's so cute, thanks Dawn.
Brock: Well we'll see you again Misty.
Misty: Bye you guys.
As our heroes are now continuing their journey for Dawn to enter the Grand Festival. What more exciting things will our heroes encounter? Stay tuned as the journey continues.
