TBR: Ch. 34-

A loud crash downstairs knocked Holly out of her sleep. Her eyes flew open and her breath hitched. Untangling herself from Artemis's arms silently, she sat up on the bed. Holly looked over at Artemis, who was sound asleep. He looked like a fresh corpse.

Holly sighed, getting up and leaving the room. She padded down the hallway cautiously, then she heard another loud crash. The elf jumped and crouched down, looking around the corner at the noise. She stood up when she saw who it was.

"Trouble?" She asked, turning the corner. "What are you doing here?"

Trouble's back was turned to her, but Holly heard him chuckle lightly. He shook his head doing so, and turned around slowly. Murder in his eyes.

Holly's eyes widened, backing up when she looked into the elf's eyes and getting ready to scream for Artemis. But then Trouble advanced, pushing Holly against the wall roughly and leaning on her, blocking her escape.

"Scream, and I will kill him." He whispered in her ear. He felt her nod next to his cheek and he pulled away, looking at her.

Holly was scared, she could say that in the least. Trouble was acting strange lately, and now with his recent actions of trying to get rid of Artemis...Holly shuddered at the thought.

Trouble smirked as he leaned into her, gently whispering. "You wondered why I was trying to get rid of Artemis. Well, here's the answer. He is the only thing that stands between you and me as of right now. I love you, Captain. I have have for a long time now."

And with that, Trouble roughly crashed his lips to hers, working them hard as his hands roamed her body. That was, until she bit his lip. He jumped back for a split second, putting a finger to his lip and examining the blood that came from it before growling and pulling out a neutrino. He pressed it to her side and she gasped when she felt it.

"Don't do this Trouble." She whispered.

The insane elf just sneered, "Just because I love you, Captain, doesn't mean I won't kill you either. If I can't have you, no one can."

Holly had to hold back a sob when she heard that. Her mind spun, and she tried to get away. But Trouble was stronger than her, and he held her there.

Before Holly could try anything, Trouble drove another kiss on her. He worked her mouth again, forcing it open and invading her mouth with his tongue. The neutrino stayed in her side while she cried in pain with Trouble's lips still on hers, and slid down the wall, Trouble following her on the way, breaking the kiss.

Holly was sitting on the hard floor now, all because of her losing all of the feeling in her legs. Trouble straddled her waist, his hand still on her torso, holding her down as she struggled in Trouble's grip. He pushed the weapon further into her side while tightening his grip on her body. Tears streamed down the Captain's cheeks as she gasped in pain. She trembled under him, not daring to look into his eyes or to scream, for Artemis's sake.

But then, the grip and pain on Holly was thrown off. There was a clang to the floor, but she still kept her eyes closed. When she did open them, she wished she hadn't.

Artemis had obviously thrown Trouble off of her. But even though Artemis had the advantage of surprise, and was taller than the Commander, Trouble was still more skilled in fighting. He kicked Artemis in the stomach, causing the human to fall to the ground, clutching his stomach.

Trouble's eyes were determined as he continued to strike Artemis. Artemis tried his hardest to fight back, but with Butler gone and Holly in shock on the floor, he was alone.

Holly just stared at what was happening in front of her, not knowing what to do. Her heart still hadn't calmed down from Trouble attacking her, and her eyes were so watery, she couldn't see straight.

But she did see what was on the floor.

Artemis tried to get up, only to get knocked down by Trouble. Artemis knew the Commander's intentions, he wanted to kill him. Trouble threw another kick to Artemis, but this time, the young man got ahold of him. Artemis pulled Trouble to the ground and he heard a snapping sound. Blue lights filled Trouble's leg and Artemis drew in a breath. Of course, he had magic.

Soon Trouble was attacking him again, and Artemis knew he was going to die. He felt his own leg snap in two and cried in pain. All Artemis saw was blood, and could only think of Holly. The only thing that kept him going. Knowing that Holly would be defenseless against Trouble if the Commander did kill him.

Artemis could see the end. Trouble was about to give the ending blow when a sharp sound rang off. Trouble fell in front of Artemis, who was lying on the ground.

Artemis looked up to see Holly. Tears were trailing down her cheeks as she collapsed to her knees on the ground, shaking. The neutrino in her hand, steaming from the shot just fired.

Artemis didn't even look at Trouble again. He just moved over to Holly, trying to avoid pain to go through his leg. He wrapped his arms around the sobbing elf, rocking her back and forth as he tried to clam her down. Telling her it was what she had to do.

3 days after:

Holly and Artemis were back in the Court Room. This time, Holly was with the guards on the left, and Artemis was on the right. The recycling ceremony had taken place the day before. Holly still couldn't believe what she had done. Killed her own Commander. She barely talked after it, going straight to Haven.

The councilmen entered the room one by one. Once everything was settled, the speaker stood.

"Holly Short, please stand." He said.

She did, nervously. On the other side of the room Artemis could see her shaking, feeling terrible for her.

"Is it true you shot Commander Trouble Kelp?" The speaker went on.

Holly nodded, her eyes watering already. She couldn't talk in fear of bursting into tears.

The council murmured to themselves, some arguing and some calmly explaining. It took over half an hour for the muttering to come to an end, but finally it quieted down and the speaker stood once again.

"Captain Holly Short. Because the killing was in self defense, the council has decided to not execute you for murder."

Holly, who was looking at her feet just then, looked up a bit,relieved but still upset. Artemis on the other hand, was trying his best not to jump up and down.

The speaker cleared his throat, continuing. "Instead, you are to take place of Commander. You are forbidden to see or converse with Artemis Fowl."

Holly looked up in shock, her face distorted in disbelief. "What?!" She almost screamed.

The speaker nodded, turning to the rest of the council to make sure he heard right. "Yes. Because of your recent...events with said human, Trouble Kelp is now dead. Taking the job of Commander will restrict your ability to go to the surface and converse with humans. And since it seems you and Fowl cannot stay together without getting into trouble, then we cannot permit you two to see each other."

"But-" Holly started.

"Miss Short, you have not been chosen to speak." The speaker demanded. "Artemis Fowl, please exit and leave Haven."

Artemis was split, he couldn't leave Holly, but if he stayed, then Holly's life would be ruined. He could be killed, or worse.

So Artemis looked t Holly one last time, then turned and went down the path to the door. He heard Holly's protests, but he didn't look back, he couldn't.

As soon as Artemis started to leave, Holly got up. "You can't do this!" She pleaded the council one last time. When they said nothing she got up abruptly, following Artemis. He couldn't leave, not without saying goodbye. She was almost to him when Foaly stopped her. He held onto her, arms around her frame so she couldn't escape. He turned her around so she didn't see Artemis.

The young man opened the doors, sighing, he went and left Haven.

Holly sobbed in her friend's arms. Losing all feeling in her legs she fell from the grasp and onto the floor just as the Court Room doors slammed shut.
