Chapter Fifty Nine
When we left our heroes, they have finally reach the Indigo Plateau for the Grand Festival.
Indigo Plateau (12:39 p.m.) Two days after they arrived to the Indigo Plateau
The day of the Grand Festival is here and Dawn had met up with both Kenny and Zoey. Both coordinators have now earned all five ribbons and are now ready for the Grand Festival.
Dawn: Piplup, today is a big day for us, so let's give it all we got.
Piplup: Pip Piplup!
Ash: Hey ready for your first performance Dawn?
Dawn: Yeah.
Ash: Remember don't be nervous and you'll win it for sure.
Dawn: Thanks.
Ash: Here I have something for you.
Ash put on a ribbon on Dawn's head.
Ash: It's a ribbon based on Sylveon's ribbon. I hope you like it.
Dawn: I do like it and thank you so very much Ash for being here with me. I couldn't have made it here without your support.
Ash: Hey no problem, I'm always here for you because I lo….
Dawn: You love me!
Ash was cut off by Dawn and they both smile for a while till Dawn was called upon to stage.
Dawn: Well wish me luck and take care of Piplup will you?
Ash: Sure thing Dawn, come on Piplup!
Piplup: Piplup!
Dawn enters the stage.
Lilian Merdian: Now here's our last coordinator for the appeal round, give a round of applause to Dawn!
Dawn: Buneary and Pachirisu, spotlight!
Buneary: Buneary!
Pachirisu: Chipa!
Dawn: Buneary use Ice Beam to form a ball of ice and use Dizzy Punch to break it!
Buneary: Bun Buneary!
Buneary used Ice Beam towards the ceiling and the Ice Beam form a ball of ice. Buneary then jumps and she use Dizzy Punch to break it causing snowflakes to flow down.
Dawn: Now Pachirisu use Discharge!
Pachirisu: Chiiipaaaa!
The electricity that is conducting from Pachirisu's body is causing the snowflakes to shine with sparkles.
The audiences are amazed and same goes for both Ash and Brock.
After the performance ended, Dawn and her Pokémon bowed and receive positive score from the judges.
Dawn soon meets up with Zoey and she thought that Dawn did great out there today.
After the judges have come to a deciding of which top sixteen coordinators will continue to the second round. Both Dawn, Zoey and Kenny have made it to the battling rounds.
Dawn: We've made it in.
Zoey: What a relief, for a second there I thought I wouldn't made it.
Dawn: Oh come, of course you would have made it.
Zoey: Thanks and looks like the bracket is up and seems you'll be battling in the fourth battle while I'll be battling in division two for the sixth battle.
Dawn: Well I hope you make it so that'll compete in the finals.
Zoey: Thanks and if you manage to get two wins, you'll be battling Kenny in the third match.
In the interest of time!
Kenny has won his first match of the first battle in division one and Dawn is about to enter the arena for her battle.
Meanwhile in both Pallet Town and Sinnoh. Dawn's mother, Johanna is watching her daughter battling live on television as same goes for Professor Oak, Tracey, Delia and Alexa in Pallet Town.
Dawn: Okay Sylveon and Buneary, spotlight!
The coordinator from Cherrygrove City called out her Gardevoir and Houndoom!
Lilian Meridian: Battle begin!
Dawn: Sylveon use Quick Attack on Houndoom and Buneary use Ice Beam at Gardevoir!
Emily: Houndoom, Double Team and Gardevoir use Protect!
Both of Jenny's Pokémon avoided the attacks.
Emily: Houndoom use Sludge Bomb at Sylveon and Gardevoir use Psychic on Buneary!
Dawn: Dodge it Sylveon at use Protect in from of Buneary!
Sylveon protected Buneary from Gardevoir's Psychic attack.
Dawn: Great now use Moonblast at Houndoom, Slyveon and Dizzy Punch at Gardevoir!
Houndoom suffers from heavy amounts of damage but it manages to stay in battle while Gardevoir hardly even felt the Dizzy Punch attack by Buneary.
Emily: Houndoom, here and evolve!
Emily touches her stone that is attach onto her necklace and activates the Mega Evolution for Houndoom. Blues rings are emitting from Houndoom's body as it is now fully mega evolved into Mega Houndoom.
Dawn: It Mega Evolve! (What is it with these mega evolutions?) Sylveon use Dazzling Gleam!
Houndoom's Special Defense made Dazzling Gleam less effective which is most likely it won't go down easily.
Brock: That Houndoom has been properly trained.
Ash: How can use tell?
Brock: Houndoom hardly even got hurt by Sylveon's Dazzling Gleam; so Dawn is going to have a tough time with Emily's Houndoom for sure.
Dawn: Buneary use Ice Beam at Gardevoir!
Emily: Quick Houndoom, use Flamethorew at the Ice Beam attack!
Houndoom stop the Ice Beam attack before it has reach to Gardevoir.
Emily: Great, now use Hidden Power, Gardevoir!
Buneary is hit by Gardevoir's Hidden Power which turns out to be a Fighting type move.
Dawn: Oh no Buneary!
Buneary is unable to battle.
Dawn: Return! You did great Buneary. Now Sylveon use Hyper Beam at Gardevoir!
Sylveon used her Hyper Beam attack at Gardevoir and completely knocks it out of battle.
Emily: Return Gardevoir, okay it's all up to you Houndoom.
Houndoom nodded back at its trainer and it used Iron Tail.
Dawn: Quick, dodge it!
Sylveon successfully dodge it and she used her Moonblast attack again and landed a critical hit on Houndoom.
Dawn: Great job Sylveon!
Sylveon: Vaaah!
Emily: Houndoom, unleash your powerful Heatwave attack!
Sylveon is seriously hurt by the Heatwave attack and she looks like she is about to faint.
Dawn: Sylveon no, please don't give up.
Sylveon is lying on the ground with her eyes closed.
Lilian Meridian: Sylveon is now unable to…. Huh?
Sylveon suddenly starts to get up slowly. She is struggling to stay up.
Dawn: Sylveon. (Dawn whispered)
Sylveon suddenly got back up in a quickness and she's is now ready to win no matter what.
Dawn: Are you still willing to battle?
Sylveon nodded back at Dawn.
Dawn: Great, now use Calm Mind!
Sylveon is calming down a bit as she is increases her Special Attack and Defense at the same time.
Emily: Quick, finish this with one more Iron Tail!
Dawn: Hurry and dodge it and use Moonblast again!
Sylveon dodges the attack and unleashes a powerfull Moonblast attack which takes out Houndoom.
Lilian Meridian: Houndoom is unable to battle and the battle goes to Dawn!
Houndoom suddenly changes back to its ordinary form as its being call back into its Pokémon.
Dawn then heads onto the second match and wins. She is now about to battle against Kenny in the third match.
Kenny: So are you ready to lose Dee Dee?
Dawn: The name isn't Dee Dee!
Kenny: I'm only kidding as usual, but give it your best today since I'll be winning. Go Floatzel and Breloom!
Dawn: Go Butterfree and Quilava!
Kenny: You can have the first move if you like.
Dawn: Thanks, Butterfree use Silverwind at Breloom and Quilava use Dig on Floatzel!
Quilava dug underneath the battlefield while Butterfree's Silverwind landed a hit at Breloom.
Kenny: Breloom use Mach Punch at Butterfree!
Butterfree gets hit hard by Breloom's Mach Punch attack.
Dawn: Butterfree use Sleep Powder at Floatzel!
Floatzel is effective by the Sleep Powder and falls to sleep.
Dawn: Now Quilava jump out and use Flame Wheel at Floatzel!
Floatzel is hit by the Flame Wheel attack while it's asleep.
Kenny: Floatzel try to wake up.
Floatzel is asleep.
Kenny: No good, Breloom use Dynamic Punch on Butterfree!
Dawn: Intercept it with Silverwind, Butterfree!
Breloom is hurled into the air and falls to the ground.
Kenny: You're okay?
Breloom: Breloooom!
Kenny: Great, Floatzel wake up!
Floatzel woke up.
Kenny: Awesome, Floatzel use Aqua Jet at Quilava!
Floatzel surrounded itself in water and charging to Quilava.
Dawn: Quilava use Eruption to evaporate the water!
Quilava quickly used Eruption and evaporated the water around Floatzel.
Kenny: What?
Dawn: Now use Take Down!
Floatzel is hit hard by Quilava.
Kenny: Breloom use Dynamic Punch at Quilava!
Quilava gets hit very hard. Quilava gets back onto his feet with flames bursting from its back.
Dawn: Is that Blaze?
Brock: Amazing Quilava's Blaze ability is active!
Ash: You can do it Quilava!
Pikachu: Pika Pi!
Dawn: Okay use Flame Wheel at Floatzel!
Quilava curled up and the flames got bigger as it is using Flame Wheel. The Flame Wheel is a quarter size of the battlefield and it hits Floatzel.
After the attack, Kenny sees Floatzel knock out.
Kenny: Floatzel return! Breloom use Dynamic Punch at Butterfree!
Dawn: Butterfree dodge it quick!
Butterfree fail to dodge the attack and faints!
Dawn: Return, okay Quilava let's finish this Flame Wheel once more!
Quilava curls into a ball of fire and is going towards Breloom.
Kenny: Use Stun Spore!
The fire burns the Stun Spore into crisp and gets hit by Quilava's Flame Wheel.
Lilian Meridian: Breloom is unable to battle and our win of this match is Dawn and her Quilava!
Kenny: We lost; return Breloom. I must say Dawn; you have grown strong throughout your Unova and Kanto journey. Let's use meet again in Kalos.
Dawn: Thanks and let's have a rematch in Kalos.
Both shook hands and Kenny leaves the arena. Dawn is now in her fourth and final match against Zoey.
Zoey: You're ready for our Grand Festival rematch, Dawn?
Dawn: Yeah and this time it's going to be different.
Zoey: Now let's give it all we got.
Dawn: Right.
Zoey: Mismagius and Gallade, Go!
Dawn: Piplup and Quilava, spotlight!
Lilian Meridian: You two may begin!
Dawn: Okay Piplup use Drill Peck at Gallade and Quilava use Flamewheel on Mismagius!
Zoey: Gallade, dodge and use Psycho Cut and Mismaguis use Shockwave at Piplup!
Dawn: Quilava use Dog at both of their attacks to protect Piplup!
Quilava: Quill!
Quilava quickly used Dig on the ground and kick a pile of dirt to block both attacks.
Dawn: Great work Quilava, and Piplup use Bubblebeam at Mismaguis!
Piplup: Pip plup plup plup plup!
Mismaguis takes a certain amount of damage but it's still okay to battle.
Zoey: Gallade use Magical Leaf at Piplup and Mismaguis use Confuse Ray on Quilava!
Piplup gets hit by the super effective attack by Gallade while Quilava gets confused by Mismaguis Confuse Ray.
Dawn: Quilava, try to stay focus and snap out of your confusion!
Quilava would hardly hear Dawn's voice as its walking around confused.
Dawn's mind: This isn't good, what am I supposed to do now? Hmmmh… That's it!
Dawn: Piplup use Bubblebeam at Quilava and have the bubbles burst right on top of Quilava!
Piplup: Pip plup plup plup!
Piplup's Bubblebeam attack burst into water vapor flowing down onto Quilava which made it snap out of its confusion.
Dawn: It works! Now Quilava use Flame Wheel at Gallade and Piplup use Whirlpool directly at Mismaguis!
Piplup whirled up a Whirlpool at throws it Mismaguis while Quilava's Flame Wheel landed a critical hit on Gallade.
Zoey: Gallade get up and use Vacuum Wave at Piplup!
Piplup is seriously hurt from the Vacuum Wave attack while Zoey order Mismaguis to use Shockwave on Piplup!
Dawn: Piplup are you okay?
Piplup: Pip Piplup! (Nodded his head back at Dawn)
Dawn: Good.
Dawn's mind: Both Piplup and Quilava look very tired; if they keep this up. We'll lose for sure, I wonder what I can do?
Dawn: I know what I should do. Quilava use Eruption at the air and Piplup use Whirlpool to cool down the lava!
Piplup: PIIIIIIIPLUUUUUUPP!
Piplup's Whirlpool cool down the lava of Quilava's Eruption and it became hard as a rock.
Dawn: Quilava use Brick Break on the rock and kick them towards both Gallade and Mismaguis!
ZoeyL Hurry and dodge it!
Both of Zoey's Pokémon are trying their best to dodge but Mismaguis us getting hit a lot by the broken rocks of Eruptions and faints. Gallade is the only one standing on its feet to continue the battle.
Zoey: Mismaguis return! Now Gallade use Magical Leaf at Piplup!
Dawn: Quilava use Flame Wheel as a shield for Piplup!
Quilava block the Magical Leaf attack.
Dawn: Now finish this with Drill Peck, Piplup!
Piplup uses its Drill Peck attack and knock out Gallade.
Lilian Meridian: Gallade is down and our annual Grand Festival winner is; DAWN!
The crowd is cheering for Dawn's victory while Zoey recalls Gallade and smiles with happiness.
Zoey: Congratulation Dawn; you finally won the Grand Festival. Now we should have a rematch at the Grand Festival in Kalos.
Dawn: Yeah, that sounds perfect.
Later during the ceremony
Mr. Contesta: I would like to present you Dawn, the Kanto Ribbon Cup!
Dawn: Thank you so much.
Ash: She did it!
Brock: All the hard work has really paid off. I say we celebrate once we arrive at Pallet Town.
Ash: That sounds like a great idea.
Pikachu: Pika Pi!
After the ceremony ended, Dawn later changes back into her usual outfit and meets up with Ash and Brock outside with the Ribbon Cup that she is holding.
Ash: Congratulation on winning the Grand Festival. I always knew you could do it.
Dawn: Thanks Ash and I couldn't never have done withour you, Brock, Pikachu, Piplup and all of our Pokémon.
Brock: I say we go to Pallet Town and celebrate.
Dawn: Yeah, come on and let's go but first.
Ash: What is it?
Dawn: Something for you, for all of your support.
Dawn kissed Ash on the cheek and he blushes.
Dawn: So let's go already.
Ash snaps out of it and follows Dawn with Brock and their Pokémon.
Dawn is now a Top Coordinator in the Kanto region; what more exciting story will happen as our journey is coming to a close soon.
