Immediately following the ceremony, Schmidt had arranged for a large private table for dinner at one of the restaurants within their hotel. After being seated, everyone became immersed in their own conversations and laughter. Sliding her chair closer to Nick's, Jess smiled as he reached out for her left hand under the table. She felt his fingers gently twist her engagement ring and he leaned over to kiss her cheek. Lingering by her neck, he pressed his clean shaven cheek to hers and whispered in her ear.

"I can't wait for this to be us."

Gripping his hand tightly, she smiled and relaxed her head against his. "Me either." She caught Winston's questioning stare from across the table as heat rose into her cheeks. Lowering her head, she pulled back from Nick and smiled. Glancing into his eyes, she saw something in them that hadn't been there before. An expression of excitement and pure happiness. There was a strange exhilaration being the only ones knowing of their engagement. Jess knew he wouldn't be able to keep it a secret for long, and she was trying hard to keep her hand hidden and not give it away. Nick had even offered to hold her ring just a little while longer, to which she had nearly screamed at him, not about to take it off her finger.

Nick wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close. She laid her left hand on his knee, which he quickly grasped once again. "I don't want to wait. I want to tell everyone now."

"Nick we can't." She hissed quietly as she leaned against his shoulder. "This is their day." Knowing she was probably right, but still disappointed, he frowned. She just glanced up with pursed lips and shook her head.

"When do we get to tell them then?" The smallest hint of a whine in his voice.

"Soon, I promise." Kissing his cheek softly, she squeezed his hand and leaned closer. "I love you."

"Mmm, I love you too Jess Miller." He wiggled his eyebrows, smirking.

"Nick!" She glanced around quickly and slapped his knee. "Stop that."

"Or Day." He glanced at her playfully. "You can keep Day, I don't mind."

Jess just rolled her eyes. "You know I'm going to rock the hell out of the name Miller."

His breath caught in his throat for a moment and just stared at her, letting the feeling of her becoming his wife finally sink in. He swallowed hard and leaned in to whisper in her ear once more. "You really want to change your name to Miller?"

Glancing up at him, her eyes blinked in confusion and her voice was soft. "Of course I do, Nick. Why wouldn't I?"

"I don't know. I just thought because Cece..."

Jess laid her hand on his cheek. "Cece's a model, Nick. I understand why she's not, but...I want to be Jessica Miller."

After dinner, the group made their way over to The Bank, a nightclub situated on the lower level of the hotel. Jess could feel Nick starting to fold under the pressure of their secret, and squeezed his hand tightly. As the other couples continued ahead of them, Jess tugged on Nick's arm and pulled him toward a window looking out over the brightly lit pool.

"Nick?"

Nervously grasping at the collar of his shirt, he cleared his throat. "I'm sorry, Jess. I'm trying here."

Biting her lip, Jess let out a small laugh and just shook her head. "Are you going to be okay in there?"

"Yeah, yeah." He nodded and brushed his hands over her shoulders and down her back. "I'm good."

Glancing up at him with wide eyes, she just pursed her lips. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

She let out a loud laugh. "How did you manage to keep this ring a secret the past few days?"

Nick grinned proudly. "You mean a week, Jess. And..." He laughed. "I have no idea."

Shaking her head, she reached up to wrap her arms around his neck. Tangling her fingers in his hair, she rose up on her toes and gave him a kiss.

Schmidt's voice echoed down the hallway. "Will you two knock it off, I paid good money for VIP seating at this nightclub. It's like I'm Kanye tonight!"

Jess rolled her eyes and Nick started to open his mouth for a smart retort, when Jess just shook her head and placed a finger over his lips. "Don't even think about it, Miller."

Once they were led to their reserved table in the nightclub, a waiter came around with flutes of champagne. Among the chatter and laughter of the group, Jess stood up and held up her glass in her right hand. "I'd like to make a toast," she turned to Schmidt and Cece. "To my best friend and my best roommate, congratulations!"

Raising their glasses and echoing her cheers, Jess glanced down at Nick as he smiled at her. Without thinking, she rubbed Nick's shoulder with her left hand.

"Jessica Day," Choking on a sip of champagne, Cece's eyes caught the glimmer of Jess' ring and shouted across the table, stunned. "What the hell is that?!"

The table fell silent as Jess quickly pulled her hand back and bit her lip, all eyes on her and Nick. "Oh, um...well..." She glanced helplessly at Nick. "I don't..."

Grinning, Nick held up his glass and blurted out. "Jess and I are getting married!"

"NICK!"

Nick just looked at her innocently and shrugged his shoulders as Cece screamed. Standing up and knocking her chair over, she ran around the table and threw her arms around Jess, both of them squealing with laughter.

Winston, who was sitting next to Nick, slapped him on the back. "Hey man, congratulations!"

The air around them was filled with cheers and laughter, as Nick stood up. Grabbing Jess' arm to pry her away from Cece, Nick pulled her forcefully to his chest for a long kiss. Startled at first, Jess began to melt into his embrace and her arms found their way around his neck. Her lips soon smiled against his, as their friends surrounded them with whistles and catcalls.

"Oh, enough you two."

"Do you ever stop?!"

Cece weaved her way back around the table and grabbed her champagne, Schmidt pulling her close. Raising her glass, she smiled. "To Nick and Jess!"

Laying his arm across Jess' shoulders, Nick pumped his fist in the air before pulling Jess to his chest tightly, never wanting to let go.

"I'm telling ya Jess, if you two wanted to make it official, we're already all here." Cece shimmied her shoulders into Jess' and smiled, excitement in her voice.

"She's right." Grabbing Cece around the waist, Schmidt kissed her cheek hard as she laughed. "Nick and I could be on the same anniversary reminder email."

Pausing for moment, Cece glanced between Nick and Jess before grabbing Schmidt's hand and pulling him toward the dance floor. "Come on, you."

After they started to walk away, Nick and Jess both stared at each other nervously. Jess leaned her back against the glass railing and bit her lip.

"It would be crazy, right?"

Nick swallowed hard and searched her eyes. He could tell she was trying hard not to let Cece's words get to her, but he knew she was thinking about it. Stepping closer to her, he spoke hesitantly, unsure of what to say. He didn't picture Jess as being the type of person that would want to get married in Vegas, but her expression was so hard to read, that he didn't want to say anything that might make her think he was having second thoughts.

"You're everything to me Jess. I'd be happy with whatever you decide, but..." Taking her face in his hands, he searched her eyes and smiled. Squinting, he asked her cautiously, "Is this what you want?"

She paused for a moment, watching his expression carefully, and wondering if Nick was trying to hint at something. Finally she just took a deep breath and slowly started to shake her head, the movement becoming more pronounced with each back and forth motion. She smiled slowly.

"No. This isn't us, Nick. I wouldn't feel right without Bonnie or my parents being here."

"Okay good," Sighing in relief, he took a deep breath and gave her a soft kiss. "Me either."

Stepping closer, she smoothed her hands over his chest and looked up at him. "Just promise me we won't wait too long."

Smiling, he pulled her close and whispered quietly, "You got it, Day."
