A/N: Holy shit balls! Two updates for this in less than a month? Fuck, I really amaze myself sometimes:) Actually, I was more than certain I saw a group of girls, outside my house, with torches and pitchforks, carrying a large tree, suitable for a lynching, so...
Poor Emily...it is definitely not her moment, is it?
Disclaimer: I don't brush my hair...I just roll outta bed and go to work, bedhead and all and I have a strange addiction to Mallo Cups! Oh, and I don't own Skins, but I would take it on a romantic date for two if it asked nicely;)
Chapter 10: When the Wolves Come
Emily had been walking for about an hour, sticking to the back roads, when she finally decided she was lost. She hadn't wanted to be easy to find, knowing that Katie would come after her.
She shivered as the wind whipped around her and the snow crunched beneath her boots and she cursed herself for not grabbing a heavier coat. She just wasn't thinking at the time, having been so angry that her only thought was to get away as fast as possible.
'So that's the infamous Campbell temper?' She thought to herself as she pulled her jacket tighter around her, and thought about what had happened. 'Gina and Effy really didn't do it justice!' Thinking about two different conversations about how "temperamental" the blonde could be.
Now that she'd had some time to calm down, she thought back to what she had seen. Sure, she knew Naomi had been in an accident, she had seen the scars that covered her face and hands, but Emily never knew the extent of Naomi's injuries. She was literally covered from head to toe in healed scars. But that really wasn't what concerned her, scars were scars, and that didn't bother her. It was the scars that weren't scars at all. The open, seeping cuts along her torso is what threw Emily off. Surely all of those should be healed by now, yeah?
'What the hell happened to her?' She asked herself, as she continued walking along the road. And Naomi said the name Sophia. That bothered the red head as much as anything else. 'What the fuck is going on?'
Emily walked for another half hour before she saw lights in the distance. "Thank fuck!" She whispered out loud. Lights meant houses, or a town, or something, and she was cold enough to let go of her pride.
She brought up her mental map, knowing that Naomi lived closer to Bath than she did to Bristol, so she was trying to visualise where she might be. Emily was so focused, that she didn't really notice the buildings as she walked past them. She also didn't see the group of guys standing outside of the local pub, but they saw her.
They followed her for a few minutes, before they decided to have a bit of fun.
"Oi, sweetheart!" One of them slurred out, causing Emily to tense up.
She did a half turn to get a glimpse of the guy, noticing five others with him, and quickly turned around. 'FUCK!' She thought to herself. She had been so occupied that she didn't pay attention to her surroundings. 'Stupid, Emily, really fucking stupid!' She mentally slapped herself, as she started to panic.
"Hey! I'm talking to ya, dinky tits!" This guy had to be the leader, because when he spoke, his friends all laughed. "What, you don't wanna talk to us?" Obviously drunk, he grinned at his friends.
Emily tried to speed up, but the argument and yelling at Naomi had already caused pain in her ribs, plus the miles long walk, 'Why didn't I just stay put at the house?' She asked herself as she heard the guys getting closer.
"What? Are you too good to hang out with us?" One of the other guys added in, followed by a chorus of agreement from the rest of them. "Why don't ya just stop and talk to us for a minute?"
"Piss off!" Emily replied, instantly regretting the words as soon as they left her lips.
The six guys started running toward her, as she broke out into a run, but she had nowhere to go. Everything except the pub was closed down, but that would mean turning around and heading toward the guys, and just because she was stupid enough to be out here alone in the middle of the night, didn't mean she was stupid enough to offer herself up willingly.
So she did the only thing she could do at this point, she ignored the pain spreading throughout her body and kept running.
"Are you sure you checked everywhere?" Naomi's voice sounded panicked now, causing Katie to grip the steering wheel tighter.
"Yes, Nai, we searched along the roads, and we're at her house now, no one has seen her." Gina replied, noting with dread that Naomi was going to start freaking out.
Oddly enough, it only took Effy thirty minutes with Naomi, to speak some sense to her.
"What the actual fuck happened, Naomi!" Effy demanded, as she stormed into the room from the balcony, coming stand in front of the blonde. "And don't sit there and expect to not say anything."
Naomi glared at the brunette, attempting to do just that, when she finally gave in. "Fuck it all! I don't need this shit, Elisabeth, any of it!"
"Oh, shove your goddamn pride! What did you do?" Effy shouted at her, causing Naomi to flinch. Effy never yelled, she didn't feel the need to show emotion usually, so seeing it now, directed at the blonde, was disconcerting. Effy stopped, stepped back away from Naomi and took a breath.
Cook and Katie stood off to the side, watching and waiting to see what was going to happen.
Naomi merely sat there, unable to sit still now that she was under Effy's microscopic gaze, knowing that she would figure it out anyway.
"NAOMI!"
"Fine! I was cleaning up and she walked in on me!" Naomi shouted back, her heart still racing because of the argument.
Katie scoffed at that. "That's a pretty fucking weak excuse, Campbell! You were "cleaning up"?" Katie asked, using her fingers to make air quotes. "What the fuck does that even mean?"
"It's none of your business!" Naomi said, with less anger than when she said the same words to Emily.
"Babes?" Cook walked over and crouched down, looking her in the eye. "You need to put yourself in their shoes, yeah? They don't know what's going on, so they may be scared." He knew she would know what he meant. "It's time to put the past in the past and work toward the future."
Naomi stood quickly to pace back and forth. "It's so much easier for you two." She replied, earning a bitter laugh from Effy.
"How fucking long are you gonna believe that shit, Naomi?" Effy was tired of the situation, and it reflected in her voice. "This isn't about just you anymore. I'm tired of all of this! Aren't you tired of living a half life? Because I sure the fuck am!" Effy walked back over to where Naomi was standing. "You sit in your castle with the shutters and doors locked tight. You don't allow anything or anyone in or out! The whole point of this fucking curse was to show you that it's not always about you, you daft fucking twat!"
"I beg your-," Naomi started to say, but was cut off, sharply by Effy.
"Save your indignation for someone else, someone who doesn't know about the scared child on the inside!"
Katie piped up just then. "Curse?"
Effy glanced briefly at the older twin. "Not yet!" She said before turning back to Naomi. "Once, just once, I'd like to see you actually put yourself out there, Nai! The damage is already done, how much worse could it get? How much worse does it have to get?"
Naomi, Cook and Effy stared at each other, staring at each other, all of them shocked with the brunettes outburst.
The tension was so thick, Katie could've cut it with a knife, or a chainsaw. She couldn't really wrap her brain around d much of what was said, because the only thing it kept coming back to her was the word "curse".
'What the fuck did I get us into?' She asked herself, suddenly afraid for Emily.
"Guys?" Katie called out. "I've gotta find Emily." They all turned to look at her, and she noticed how guilty Naomi looked. "She's out there, all alone. I can't let her be alone."
Effy's eyes changed from a hard glint to soft understanding. "You're right, Katie. Emily is out there alone, so we need to find her, don't we, Nai?" She levelled a glare at the blonde.
"Yes." Naomi answered meekly.
"Fine, it's settled. Cook and I will take the main roads. Naomi? You and Katie look along the backroads." She commanded, as she stormed out of the room.
Naomi was flabbergasted at Effy's attitude. She had never spoken so passionately about anything before, so it was throwing Naomi off kilter.
"We better get going, it's been about forty-five minutes since she's been gone, Nai." Cook said quietly, before he too, turned and walked away.
"Hurry up, Naomi!" Katie snapped at the blonde. "Get dressed and meet me down stairs."
It took Naomi about a minute to realise that something was wrong. She couldn't feel any of the electrical pulses that had become an everyday thing since Emily had moved in. Even when the younger twin was on the grounds, inside the gates, Naomi could feel her, but at this moment, right now there was nothing.
"Tick-tock, Naomi! Emily's time could be running out." Sophia said, causing Naomi to tense up.
"What have you done, Sophia?"
Sophia giggled inside Naomi's mind, sending shivers down the blondes spine. "I'm flattered that you would think that, Naomi, truly I am but alas, I can not take credit for this. I'm not evil, Naomi. All I will say is this, the wolves are out on the prowl and your little lamb is about to become a midnight snack."
Naomi felt herself go cold at the thought of anything happening to the red head. "Is it Mandy?"
"No, Nai, it's not Mandy. This is a whole new pack of wolves." Sophia replied, her voice sounding strange, but Naomi didn't have the time to analyse that. "You'd really better hurry."
"What's gonna happen?" Naomi asked, but receive no response. "Sophia?" It remained quiet in her head, frustrating her. "Sophia!" She screamed out, still not getting an answer.
She spun around, and came face to face with Katie.
"Where you just talking to yourself?" Katie asked, in disbelief. "My sister's out there somewhere, and you're fucking talking to yourself?"
"Katie, it's hard to explain, yeah?" Naomi replied.
"I thought you wanted to protect her?"
"I do...I am!" Naomi didn't even sound convincing to herself. "I'm trying?"
"Well, how 'bout you try harder! Quit having a mental breakdown, get your ass dressed so we can go and find my sister!" Katie barked out, sounding very much like a bitch. When Naomi didn't moved, Katie saw red. "Like, now, Campbell!" This broke Naomi out of her paralysis, and she hurriedly went and threw some clothes on.
Twenty minutes later, they found themselves on a dark two lane road, out in the middle of nowhere. Effy and Cook went north, while Gina and Kieran went into Bristol, hoping that Emily would've gone home.
"Alright, call me if you hear anything. Mum?" Naomi called out before the other girl could hang up. "I just wanted to say thanks, yeah?"
"I know, Nai. We'll talk later, okay?"
Naomi agreed before ending the call. "She's not at home. I was hoping she'd gotten a taxi or something."
"Well, she left her phone at the house, so it's not like she could call anyone." Katie stated, shaking her head. "Naomi?"
"Hmm?" The blonde acknowledged distractedly, her eyes glued to the view outside the window.
"What were you guys talking about earlier?" Katie needed to know, because everything that happened in Naomi's room after Emily left was burning a hole in her thoughts.
She heard Naomi sigh, and expected a "fuck off" from her, but the blonde simply replied. "Can it wait until we find Emily, please? It's gonna be hard enough to tell it, and I only wanna do it once, yeah?"
"Yeah, sure...fine." Katie replied tensely.
The car fell into silence after that, until Naomi spoke up. "It's just that it's a big thing, a really, really big thing, ya know and I'm afraid that both you and Emily will be running for the hills once I tell you." She explained, sadly.
"You're not crushing my curiosity here, Naomi!" Katie drawled out.
"I know." Naomi said before falling back into silence. "Drive over toward Wick." She directed, as they drove on.
"Any reason why?" Katie asked cautiously, wondering if Naomi knew something she didn't.
"No, it's just we haven't checked there yet, and I know there are a couple of pubs that may still be open, ya know, if she wanted to take a break from walking." The blonde replied with a shrug. "I'm just thinking, if she followed this road here, she'd end up in Wick, so...," Naomi trailed off and sat up so quickly, that it startled Katie.
"What's the matter?" She asked, looking out the window. "Do you see her?" Katie was nervous, Naomi could hear it in her voice.
"She's close." Naomi replied, as the missing pulses started shooting through her. "She's real close, be on the look out."
"How do you know?" Katie demanded, not liking the way Naomi sounded so calm.
"I just do, alright. Please, Katie, just let's find Emily and I swear I'll tell you everything." She pleaded with the older twin.
"Fine!" Katie snapped out, losing her patience. "Where to?"
Naomi didn't say anything, she was concentrating on what she was feeling. After a minute, she told Katie to go left, and they drove slowly, looking along both sides of the road. The whole time, Naomi's pulses kept getting stronger.
"Pull up over there." Naomi pointed out a car park. "If I remember correctly, this is the local park. I know if you head down that way," she said, pointing down the road, "that's the town."
Katie pulled in, coming to a stop. Naomi jumped out of the car as soon as she shut the engine off. Katie watched her, as Naomi stood at the front of the car, looking around.
"Katie, c'mon! This way." Naomi shouted as she took off running. "Call Effy! Tell her to get here now, if possible!"
Katie did as she was told, then followed the blonde. She was more than a little bit scared, as they ran through the woods.
Fifteen minutes later, Katie got a text from Cook, letting her know that they were in the car park, so Katie ran to get them, making sure Naomi stayed were she was.
"Sophia?" Naomi called out, not knowing if the other girl would help her, but she had to try. "Sophia, please?"
"Do you know how hard it is to sleep when you've got someone calling to you in your mind?" She finally responded.
Naomi rolled her eyes at the question. "Seriously?"
"Oh, right. Oops!" Sophia giggled, then Naomi could hear her yawning. "And what can I do for Miss Campbell?"
"You can tell me where she is?" Naomi asked, impatiently.
"Sorry, no can do!"
"You're awfully cheerful this evening!" Naomi snapped. "Why can't you tell me?"
"Because she's not my concern, Naomi!" Sophia replied, starting to sound agitated.
"What the fuck does that mean? Can't you like, I don't know, use your powers and pinpoint where she is?" Sarcasm dripped from every word out of Naomi's mouth.
"Contrary to what you might think, Naomi, it doesn't exactly work that way!" Sophia was getting angry, and Naomi could hear it now.
"But you told me earlier Emily was in trouble!" Naomi cried out. "Why can't you-,"
"I'm tuned to you, you arrogant cunt!" Sophia shouted, causing a ripping pain through Naomi's brain."How dare you call out to me, asking me to help you, after everything you've done!"
Naomi was in tears and the pain was so bad, that she couldn't help but drop to her knees and curl up into a ball. This was how the others found her a few minutes later.
"What the fuck! Are you sleeping or something, Campbell?" Katie screamed at her, unaware of the agony she was in. "Get your ass up and find my sister!"
Katie felt like hitting her, she was that mad. She started to match over there, intent on doing just that, when Effy and Cook stepped in.
"Katie, don't!" The brunette cried out, as Cook grabbed her around her waist. "She's hurt."
Katie calmed down enough to look at the blonde. "What happened to her?"
Effy crouched down, looking Naomi over, then realised what might be wrong.
"Something bad's happening to Emily." Naomi croaked out.
"What's happening, Naomi?" Effy asked quietly.
"I don't know, Sophia can't tell me. She says to let the pulses guide me." Naomi explained, telling Effy exactly what Sophia had told her.
The blonde struggled to stand, once the pain subsided, with the others looking at her.
"What else did she say?" Cook asked her.
"She said I've only scratched the surface," Naomi said, looking around her, "this park is huge, and I've barely covered an eighth of it." She stated, wiping tears from her face, sounding desperate.
"Alright Blondie, calm down, and concentrate, yeah? What pulses is she talking 'bout?" Cook asked, confused. "What does that even mean?"
"I get these pulses of electricity throughout my body when I'm around Emily, the closer she is, the stronger they are. When she left the grounds, the pulses stopped, but I feel them now, she's around here somewhere." Naomi explained, aware that she sounded like a lunatic.
"You feel those too?" His eyed widened, "I thought I was the only one." He said under his breath, earning a look from Effy and Naomi. "What? I thought it might have had something to do with the twins, but I wasn't for sure."
"We really don't have time for this!" Katie's voice bordered on hysteria now. "Please? If she's in trouble, we need to find her!"
"She's right, we need to go." Naomi said urgently.
Effy and Cook nodded in agreement and they all took off, following the blonde, as she followed her pulses.
Emily was bent over, clutching her ribs, as she tried to catch her breath. Her only option had been to run into the woods at the end of the road, which wasn't so easy. She had smacked into a few low hanging tree branches, slicing a good sized gash into her shoulder on a broken one and she'd fallen twice in the snow.
She was winded and in serious pain. Emily had realised earlier that she had left her mobile back at the house, which she was kicking herself for now, knowing she had no way to call for help.
As she was resting against a tree, she was suddenly hit by electricity, as if she had stuck her finger in a light socket, causing her to cry out and drop to the ground.
"What the fuck!" She screamed out, but it quickly turned into a groan, when out of the trees, three of the six guys came running.
"She's feisty, lads! I like that." The leader said, leering at Emily.
The look on his face made her want to throw up, as she forced herself to stand up. 'There's no way in fucking hell I'm going down without a fight!' She promised herself, thinking about everything her dad had taught her.
She leaned back against the tree, using it to hold herself upright.
"All ya had to do was be nice to us, have a few drinks, would that have been so bad?" Said a shorter guy, who looked to be about twelve. He also looked very nervous as he kept glancing between the other two, much older guys.
"Shut it, Jerry!" The head guy shouted at him, before turning around and yelling out. "Hey lads! We've got her!"
The third guy, who had remained silent so far, stepped up to Emily, and ran his hand down her face, making her grimace. "We're gonna have one hell of time with her, Eddie."
He stank of ale and piss, and Emily was hit again with the urge to vomit. It was getting harder to control herself, because along with her traitorous stomach, the pulses were getting stronger.
She steeled herself against the wave of nausea that threatened to undo her, and brought her knee up as hard as she could, making contact with his groin, sending him staggering back.
Emily watched as he grabbed himself and fell to the ground, howling in pain.
"You stupid little bitch!" Eddie stomped over to her, neatly stepping over his fallen friend, and slapped Emily hard. "You're gonna pay for that!"
What happened next was a blur to Emily, because Eddie slapped her several more times, causing her to almost pass out. She was vaguely aware of the other three guys showing up and standing there, and she cried out, knowing what was about to happen.
"Guys, I don think we should be doing this." Jerry stated nervously. "Let's just go, yeah?"
"For fucks sake, Jerry! Do you even like girls, mate?" One of the newcomers asked, making the rest of the guys laugh.
"Of...of course I do...but this ain't right!" Jerry asserted, feeling his face heat up, thankful that it was dark, because they couldn't see a blush in the moonlight. "She didn't do anything to us, so we should just go now, before things getting really out of hand."
"Shut up Jerry! Look at what she did to poor Frank over there!" Eddie pointed out, before turning back to glare at Emily. "Boys, hold her, and make sure she stays quiet."
Emily closed her eyes, and with an air of finality she resigned herself to her fate. She knew there would be no way out of this, no way to escape what was about to become the worst night of her life.
She heard Eddie's heavy breathing, as he stood in front of her, along with the sound of him undoing his belt, and then the unmistakable sound of a zipper.
Her brain was shutting down, she knew it. She was going to go to a happy place, as she blocked out the pain from her ribs and face. That's when Emily realised the jolts of electricity running through her. The same pulsing energy that she felt when she was anywhere close to Naomi, and hope surged through her along with them. She focused on the pulses, and started struggling against her captors, as she cried out for Katie and Naomi.
Naomi ran.
Weaving in and out, through the trees lit only by the moonlight shining on the glistening snow, she ran harder than she'd ever run before, following the feelings in her body, as they got stronger. When they weakened in strength, she would adjust her course until they intensified again.
Naomi knew the others were behind her, keeping up as best as they could, but that wasn't her concern right now. What was her concern, was the feeling that she needed to hurry up, she needed to go faster. She didn't care that her lungs were screaming at her, as she silently vowed that if they found Emily soon, she would quit smoking and start working out. She only had one thought as her Doc Marten's pounded into the snow.
Find. Emily. Now.
Those three words became a mantra in her head, as she kept going. She caught a glimpse of Katie, as the older twin caught up with her, and she looked behind her briefly, making sure Effy and Cook were still with them.
"She's around her somewhere, I can feel it!" Naomi said breathlessly to Katie, earning a nod from her. "I need to concentrate, but maybe you guys should call out for her?"
Katie, Effy and Cook started calling out for Emily as they went.
When they reached the edge of the park, Naomi growled out in frustration.
"FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!" As she stood by the road, looking at the quiet little town. "This can not be happening!"
"Naomi! Calm down, please." Katie step up to her, as she paced back and forth. "Do you still feel those pulses?"
Naomi stood still, and realised she did. "Yeah, they're pretty steady."
"Alright then, we'll just-,"
Katie was cut off by Effy shouting to them. "Naomi! Over here." There were a bunch of tracks in the snow, at the entrance to a walking trail.
"Let's go, but keep shouting for her." Naomi said as she stormed into the woods again, following not only her pulses, but the tracks.
It took another twenty minutes, but it felt like forever, when Katie stopped suddenly.
"Wait!" She yelled, causing Naomi to glare at her.
"Katie, we don't have time, we've gotten keep looking!" Effy said to her.
"Just...fucking...just wait a fucking minute!" She shouted at Effy, and stared off into the woods.
Naomi watched her, and then realised what was going on, as Katie cocked he head, listening to something only she could hear.
"She's heard us, hasn't she?" Naomi asked, but she already knew the answer, as Katie nodded.
Katie spun around and took off. "Hold on Emsy! We're coming!" She hollered out as loud as she could, with the others following behind.
Naomi was the first to break through the trees into the clearing, and almost breath a sigh of relief, but tensed up again when she saw the six guys standing around a tree. She didn't see Emily anywhere, until Katie followed her into the clearing.
"EMILY!" Katie's voice drew the attention of five of the guys, as they turned around and spread out. That's when Naomi saw Emily, lying on the ground, curling up in the foetal position, two of the guys had been holding her against the tree, while one of them had been about to drop his trousers.
Naomi saw red and charged. She didn't care that they were six large men, all she cared about was causing them untold pain. She growled as she reached the one that was in front of Emily and ploughed into him with everything she had.
The air around them erupted with curses and shouts, and she couldn't tell what was being said. She used her fists and legs, scratching and kicking, as hard as she could. She shrugged off the hands that tried prying her from the bastard underneath her. She didn't even flinch when she felt a burning sensation across her back.
Naomi truly felt every inch the beast that she had been cursed to become, fuelled by the pulses that being near Emily produced and a hatred so deep, a hatred of these six guys who had put their hands on Emily.
She didn't realise that the man beneath her had stopped moving, had actually stopped everything all together, until Emily's voice broke through the red haze.
It was weak, almost too quiet, but Naomi heard it and stopped swinging her fists. She stood up and looked around her.
Three other guys were laying on the ground, along with the one Naomi took out, with one of them standing just outside the clearing. She started to advance on him when Emily called out to her again.
"Naomi! Stop!"
"What! He put his hands on you!" Naomi snarled out, glaring at the young man. "There's one more, and he'll pay too!"
"I didn't, I swear it!" Jerry was terrified. "I promise you, I was trying to stop them, yeah?" He said, as he looked to Emily for help, but she had passed out in Katie's arms.
Naomi looked around, and saw Cook come back into the clearing, dragging the sixth guy along with him.
"Look, I'll do whatever you want me to do, I'll go to the cops right now." Jerry tried pleading with Naomi.
"Oh you'll be going to the cops, mate. They're already on their way," Cook stated, after dropping the unconscious man with the others, "so you'll be able to tell your side of the story. Gina and Kieran are on their way as well, along with Mr and Mrs Fitch." He said, getting a grimace from Katie.
"Great, the whole family." She muttered, cradling Emily's head in her lap.
Naomi calmed down enough to asses the situation. "We've got to get Emily out of here. Effy? Could you please go get the car?" She asked earning a nod from the brunette, watching as she took off back through the woods. Naomi then went over to Katie and crouched down.
"What are you doing?" The older twin asked.
"We've got to get her to the road." Naomi said as she scooped the red head into her arms and started heading back the start of the trail. "Stay with him until the cops show up." She said.
"Right, Blondie." Cook said, as he stepped over to Jerry, watching as Katie and Naomi left the clearing.
'This is all my fault!' Naomi thought, as she glanced down and looked at Emily in the moonlight, taking in the cuts and bruises that were already forming on her face. More guilt added into what she already felt, and she almost staggered from the weight of it.
"Good job, Naomi!" Sophia's voice rang. "If it's any consolation, I knew you'd be able to find her."
"Fuck off, Sophia! Please?" Naomi said, weary and heartbroken over what had been about to happen. "I can't deal with you right now as well as all of this, so please, just leave me alone tonight."
"Alright." Simple and final, Sophia went quiet, causing Naomi to sigh with relief.
She had forgotten about Katie, until the older twin spoke up. "So you really are talking to someone else?" Katie said thoughtfully. "What else? Do you have like, superpowers?"
Naomi sighed again. "Yes, I'm talking to someone. And no, I don't have superpowers, although right now I wish I had super strength. Your sister's not as light as she looks." Naomi stated.
Katie, oddly enough, laughed at Naomi's dry sense of humor. It felt good, after the past couple of hours. "Nice, Naomi."
"Thanks. I try." The blonde smirked, as they kept walking. She watched Katie run ahead, when Emily moaned and shifted in her arms. "Hold still, Ems, we're almost to the car."
"Naomi? Oh god, I thought I'd dreamt you!" She said weakly, before bursting into tears.
"No, we're real. Shh, it's gonna be okay." Naomi replied, holding her tighter. "I'm really sorry, Emily."
"I'm sorry too. I shou...shouldn't have taken off like that, I should've just stayed...,"
"Stop, Ems. We could go around in circles all night saying sorry to each other, so how 'bout we both say we're sorry and move on, yeah?" Naomi smiled as she look down at her.
"Naomi, Effy's here with the car." Katie said, coming back to Naomi. She smiled when she saw Emily was awake. "Hey Emsy."
"Hey. I fucked up pretty badly, didn't I?" Emily said as tears formed in her eyes. Naomi just kept walking, trying to get her to the car, where she could warm up and rest.
"That's still to be seen." Katie replied softly. "C'mon, let's get you warmed up."
Naomi, Emily and Katie made it to where Effy was waiting with her car. Naomi laid her gently in the back seat, and when she tried to back out, Emily gripped her jacket and wouldn't let go.
"Please stay?" The red head asked quietly, before slipping into sleep again.
"Forever." Naomi whispered.
"Well, Gina and Kieran are stuck in traffic. Seems a lorry carrying a load of steel lost control on the A4, west of the city. It tipped over and lost the whole load." Cook explained, walking back into the room. "It's gonna be awhile before they get it cleared up."
They were sitting in the lounge, Emily lying on one of the sofas, resting with Naomi next to her. Effy, Katie and Cook sat on the other one.
They had sat and waited for the police to arrive, and Jerry was true to his word, and explained everything to the cops. When Emily had been questioned by the police, she told them how Jerry had tried to stop them and no, he didn't touch her.
One of the cops called in an ambulance not only because of the gash to Emily's shoulder and to have her ribs looked at, but also to have Naomi checked out. It seems one of Jerry's friends had decided a knife had been a good thing to use on the blonde, and while the five inch cut wasn't too deep, it was open pretty wide.
Both of them refused a trip to the hospital. Effy had taken care of both of them when they got back to the house.
"Since we have some time, before Jenna shows up and freaks, why don't you explain what's going on, Naomi?" Katie was dying to find out about this curse.
The blonde shifted in her seat, flinching when her back rubbed against the sofa, but she nodded.
"Alright, I did promise." Naomi said, thinking about the best way to go about it. "I'm not proud of what I'm about to tell you, but I will say this, when I was a teenager I was a right cunt." Naomi looked at Emily and Katie, before going on.
Naomi started at the beginning, about meeting Effy and Cook, and went from there. She talked about her father leaving, Chelsea's betrayal, how she had used people and cast them off to the side when she had gotten what she wanted. For the most part, Naomi found it really easy to talk to the twins, which was saying something, because she even hated talking about this stuff with her family.
It wasn't until she got to the part about Ashley and Sophia that she started getting nervous. It turned out, that Effy and Cook wanted to add things as Naomi went.
Naomi was sitting in the canteen, waiting for Effy and Cook to show up, which was pissing her off. She hated waiting and both of them fucking well knew it.
"Fuck this!" Naomi grabbed her stuff and stood up, when she saw a girl walk into the room. "Well, this is interesting." Naomi smirked to herself, as she watched the other girl look around for someplace to sit.
The girl was adorable. Blonde hair, long and wavy, slender but not too thin, average height. Just the kind of girl that Naomi liked. This new girl had an air of innocence about that Naomi couldn't resist, it was just too tempting to pass up.
Naomi sat back down and watched the skittish girl as she found an empty table and sat down. Naomi was so entranced that she didn't even realise that Effy and Cook had finally arrived.
"I don't know, Effy, she's got that look in her eye." Cook grinned, as they both looked at the blonde. "Naomikin's got a new victim in sight."
Effy followed Naomi's line of sight, her eyes falling on the new girl, and she sighed inwardly, knowing that this wouldn't end well.
"Naomi, no!" Effy said.
"What? I'm not doing anything...yet." Naomi smirked, earning a laugh from Cook, but Effy didn't look amused at all.
"I'm telling you right now, that if you start anything with that girl, it will end badly for her." Effy stated, glaring at her friend. "Trust me."
Naomi shrugged, not looking the least bit concerned. "As long as nothing bad happens to me, why should I care?"
Effy felt like crying. 'Who is this person in front of me?' She asked herself, genuinely scared that whoever it was, was in fact her best friend. Effy couldn't handle it if this was really Naomi. She didn't like this new Naomi, hated her in fact, but didn't know how to walk away. The only thing Effy could do was stand by her and hope that their lives didn't self-destruct.
Naomi started her pursuit of the girl the next day. She found out her name and class schedule, making sure that Naomi, Effy and Cook were places were the girl would see them. To her it was perfect, because Naomi was all about the thrill of the hunt, and Ashley had been the perfect prey.
Ashley had told Naomi all about her girlfriend Sophia, and how they'd been together forever, about a year and a half as girlfriends, but friends before that. Naomi kept all her sarcastic comments to herself, which was harder than she thought it'd be, and slowly, oh so slowly Naomi reeled her in.
There were the group nights out, dinners and clubbing, where Naomi always invited Sophia along, but Ashley never brought the invisible girlfriend. And then there were times when it was just her and Ashley. Naomi liked those times the best, because she wouldn't have Effy staring over her shoulder, making sure that Naomi didn't say or do anything that would be considered in bad form.
It was during one of those times, after weeks of telling Ashley how beautiful she was and if she was Naomi's girlfriend, she'd never let her out of her sight and how Naomi would always want to be with her, that Ashley finally broke down and allowed Naomi to make love to her. Naomi was sure to treat her as if Ashley was the most precious girl in the world, saying and doing all the right things. And Naomi made sure it lasted too. For six hours, she treated Ashley like she was special and giving and receiving multiple orgasms.
To Naomi, it was a victory, one that she earned on her own. For Ashley, it was true love. What Naomi didn't know, was that Ashley had broken up with Sophia before sleeping with Naomi, because for her, Naomi was the one. So Ashley had explained everything to Sophia and begged her to be okay with it.
It wasn't until the next day, that Ashley's world came crashing down around her.
Naomi was standing with Effy and Cook, laughing at one of Cook's stories he was telling them, when she saw Ashley slowly walk over to them.
"Naomi." Ashley said, and leaned in to kiss the taller blonde. When Naomi backed away quickly, the hurt was instantaneous and deep.
Naomi sneered at her. "What are you doing?"
Ashley looked like a wounded animal, as she took a step back. "I just figured...well, after yesterday...,"
"You figured what? What did you figure in that brain of yours?" Naomi's rule of thumb, never give them an inch. If you give them a false sense that everything's okay, you'll never be able to get rid of them. Be as hurtful as possible then she'll never get hurt. Naomi watched Ashley's face as the other went through her emotions. "Oh, I get it...you think just because we've fucked, that we're together now, right?"
Naomi laughed at her, as she glanced at her friends. But when neither Effy nor Cook laughed with her, she took her anger out on Ashley.
"Listen, sweetheart, I don't know what you thought, but while yesterday was fun, that's all it was." Naomi told her, in a voice so cold, that it chilled Ashley to the bone. "So why don't you run along, and fuck off back to your girlfriend."
The other girl didn't say anything for a long time, but the tears that had started streaming down her face, told Naomi that her point had been made. And while a part of Naomi hated seeing that look of rejection another part, the more evil part that had been rejected herself, loved it, thrived on it and reveled in it.
"I broke up with Sophia." Ashley replied quietly.
"Well, that was a stupid idea." Naomi said flatly, her voice holding no emotion whatsoever, before turning to Effy and Cook. "C'mon guys, we've gotta go."
The three of them started into the school, but Naomi wanted one last dig, so she turned around, looked at the girl, and said, "Not for nothing, but you were an excellent fuck. Seriously, one of the best I've had."
Ashley lost it then, as Naomi's words hit home. She turned around and a took off down the street.
"It was the first time that I hated myself." Naomi said sadly. "The look on her face tore at something inside of me, and I regretted what I had done but I knew I couldn't fix it."
Katie and Emily sat there in shock, trying to picture the woman they knew doing the things she had just claimed to do.
"What happened to her?" Emily asked, quietly, almost afraid of the answer but knowing she had to know.
Naomi wiped the tears from her eyes, knowing that she didn't deserve to cry and looked to Effy.
"I had kept an eye on her after what happened with Naomi, but it wasn't good." Effy answered for the blonde. "Her mental health was somewhat fragile to begin with, before Naomi showed up, and after...,"
Emily's heart was pounding, having an idea of what Effy was going to say, but she had to hear it. "Go on, Effs." She urged the brunette.
"Her brother told me that she locked herself in her room for three days. It took Sophia to get her parents to break the door down...," Effy paused, knowing that what she was about to say was something that not even Naomi knew about. "Sophia found her. When they broke through, Sophia made Ashley's parents stay out, telling them that they shouldn't have to see their daughter that way."
Naomi cried out as she heard that, running from the room as fast as she could, while everyone watched her go. No one followed her, Effy and Cook knowing that she needed time and Katie and Emily to scared to see her this way.
"So what happen? The truth, Effy." Katie asked and Effy told the twins about how Ashley died, how Naomi realised that she was the cause of Ashley's death and Sophia's curse.
Cook and Effy told them everything. Well, almost everything. What they left out was how they thought that Emily was the key to breaking the curse. Effy figured that omission wouldn't hurt anyone, and she didn't want Emily's feelings to be tainted by Naomi's past. But now both Katie and Emily knew what the scars were and why some of them were still bleeding.
Emily was about to ask more questions, but just then Gina and Jenna came through the door, ending the conversation. A little while later, Naomi came back down, apologised to Jenna and Rob, and promising to do a better job of protecting Emily. It took a little convincing, but Jenna and Rob agreed to let Emily stay and not send her off to a distant relative that lived along the border between England and Scotland.
Gina and Kieran insisted that the Fitches stay the night, because it was already late and they agreed, so before too long, everyone had settled in for the night. But Emily had trouble falling asleep, even with the pain meds Effy and Katie had made her take, because everytime she closed her eyes, she was taken back to that park from earlier.
While Emily was having trouble sleeping, Naomi had trouble waking from the thoughts of the girl she broke and the sound of Sophia crying in her head.
Alright, if you must send the lynch mob to my house, have them come up to the door and knock, that way my neighbors don't complain about the torch light! Hahahaha!
I do apologize for leaving it like this, but it's not a cliffhanger, right? Emily's safe and sound, they know about the curse... I think that about covers most things...right?
I will be working on the next chapter of Wimbledon, so not sure when I'll get the next chap of this up, but I hope it's soon:)
