The Ishkavik's (Michael's family)
It's clear the Ishkavik's have been grieving, but there also seems to be a certain anger towards their son in all that grieving. The house is not as clean as the other houses, far from it. Papers are on the floor, the couches aren't aligned properly, they are all crooked and slightly torn. Julius is slightly hesitant to sit down. The Ishkavik's are wearing their casual clothes that they wear to work as they sit on one of the small couches and the camera crew surrounds them. Julius stands out from the dull room with his sparkling suit and cleanliness. He sticks out like a sore thumb.
"So Mr and Mrs Ishkavik, how are you feeling now that your son has made the final eight?" He asks with an upbeat tone that makes both the parent's blood boil.
"We are not happy with our son, we are not proud of our son. The Michael we knew would have never touched his twin in a hurtful way." The father answers with a deep, gruff and slightly pissed off tone.
"I am sorry about the loss of your daughter, but surely a part of you is happy that Michael, your son, has a chance of coming home." He says.
"That. Is. Not. Our. Son." Mr Ishkavik says. Julius knows by the tone to switch to a different subject.
"If Michael does win how would you feel? Surely you'd be happy to see him come home."
"No, he killed his own twin, he's not our son anymore." Mr Ishkavik says and with that he gets up off the couch and storms up stairs, leaving Mrs Ishkavik and Julius. Julius decides it would be best to leave. So the camera crew pack up and leave the household.
The Lanzerr's (Demi's family)
The Lanzerr household is quite a poor household like most families and the Lanzerr's are a big family. If you include Demi they have five children, two boys and three girls. They decide to interview. Demi is the second oldest, the oldest is ninteen and the youngest is eleven. The whole family has to stand and Julius sits on a hard wooden chair.
"So this is a pretty big family you've got here. How are you coping with your current situation?" Julius asks.
Mrs Lanzerr answers. "We've just been supporting each other and doing our best to get through this, we are confident that she can make it home." The rest of the family nods in agreement, they really believe that their loved one has a chance of coming home.
"So I guess she's a really important part of your family?" Julius asks the oldest girl, she's big and strong like her sister, probably from all the days chopping wood she does.
"Yea she really is, she reads the little Johan here bedtime stories and always comforts people when they have nightmares. If she died this family wouldn't be the same again." She answers and it's clear the whole family agrees. The youngest (Johan) almost looks ready to cry. "I-I-I r-really w-want D-demi to come home. Sh-she deserves t-to and she's really great." Johan stutters, Julius gives a fake awe of sympathy. After a few more questions the camera crew packs up and leaves.
Ms Redick (Cyrus's mother)
The Redick house is as bad as the Lanzerr household. Cyrus obviously grew up in a tough environment; Ms Redick sits on a wooden chair and pulls one out for Julius to sit on. The house is a mess, barely taken care of; she seems like the kind of mother to lay in the bed and sleep.
"So Ms Redick, how do you feel now that your son has made the final eight?" Julius asks.
She simply stares at Julius and answers bluntly. "I'll be honest, I was a shit mother, that's probably why Cyrus hates me but now that he's gone I've realized how I need him. I am proud of my son and I hope he comes home." She says, she's clearly seen how she was wrong, she was a bad mother and now that her son could be taken away from her she has realized that she actually does need him, just like he needs her.
"So you're saying that you were wrong?" Julius asks. She simply nods her head.
"So if Cyrus wins what would you do?" Julius asks, clearly getting drawn into this.
"I would beg for his forgiveness and I would want to start over because he's my son and he deserves better than me." She answers, she's trying her best not to cry, she doesn't want to break down into tears in front of the camera.
After a few more questions and answers Julius asks his final question. "If there was one thing you could say to Cyrus what would it be?"
She thinks for a bit and then answers. "I would say," she begins, "Cyrus forgive me. Don't lose hope out there and keep fighting to come back home because it's were you deserve to be, home. No matter what people say or think of you, you deserve to come home."
"Thank you for your time Ms Redick." Julius says and the camera crew packs up and leaves.
The Fall's (David's family)
In District nine they decide not to interview David's mother but his brother who is nineteen years old. He isn't a joker or prankster like David; he's a responsible young adult, his name is Falken Fall.
"So Falken, how do you feel now that your brother is in the final eight?" He asks.
Falken is a strong handsome young man and answers with authority. "I'm quite surprised, I never really saw David as much as a fighter but he's proved me wrong, I know he has a chance to get back home and I know dad would say the same if he was still alive now."
"So you think he has a chance of coming home?" Julius asks.
"Of course he bloody does, he's probably one of the best tributes in the arena in there right now. He's smart enough to get through this and when he comes home we're going to be a real family again." Falken answers.
"So what do you think of his ally Kim Shae? They've obviously been through a lot together and they've helped each other out." He asks.
"I think Kim needs to die honestly." The whole room goes silent, Julius is taken aback by this answer.
"May I ask why?" He asks, curious to know more about how this boy is thinking.
"All she's done is put my brother in risk, she took him to kill that giant spider, he never would've gotten that wound on his leg if she hadn't taken him to gather stuff. She's just dead weight and the sooner he kills her the better, all she's done if put my brother through pain with her stupid Spider hunting idea and I think the sooner she's gone the better David's chances of staying alive." He answers he's staring straight into the camera at this point.
After asking more questions Julius asks his final question. "If David was to come home what would you think of him? What would you say to him?"
"No matter what happens to him in that arena and no matter what he does he will always be my funny brother and I'm sure my mom would say the same." He answers. The camera crew then pack up and leave.
