I couldn't help but smirk. I mean it's not everyday a girl like that bares her teeth at someone as tall as me. I found it amusing and just a little cute. I did the one thing a lone wolf invading an alpha's territory shouldn't do... I taunted her.
"Well isn't that just the cutest thing, a pup trying to scare me" I said monotonously
If this was any other wolf, I probably would be dead by now. Yet she raised her right eyebrow and looked at me with mischief in her eyes. Something about that look made my stomach fall and my appetite disappear. I knew I probably looked bored to everyone else but it was like she could see through my facade and had no problem calling me on it.
"You know Derek, I may look like a pup but that doesn't mean I fight like one. Why don't you honor me by being my guest at my lunch table today, I'm sure you'll want to know everything around here and I'd be happy to help." Her grin held no hint of friendliness. She may started her sentence like a question, but she ended it with no room for argument. I grunted in response, she seemed to get that it meant I'd be there because she turned toward the teacher who was carrying on her lesson.
But before the subject could be drop, Chloe's moved once more. Without turning her head or even acknowledge me, her next words sent ice down my veins.
"Your brother will join us Derek. If you don't come to lunch with him, I'll have someone fetch him for you. Understand?"
