Romano X Taiwan (requested)
Lost in your heart
/AN: Sooo, Long time no see. But here I am with another rare pairing, just because I like to do them. This was another request and I'm so sorry for doing this so late, I don't even have a lame excuse. Though I don't really ship it, I thought it was fun to do! I hope you like it and if you have any rare pairings you want me to write, please leave them in the comments and I'll be happy to do them! Thanks to you all~
Romano and Taiwan might be a bit OOC, hope you don't mind! ^^; /
She didn't understand why Japan told her to go and visit Italy for him in the first place, but now she was lost as well. Probably she hadn't read the map properly. She decided to get some food and just sit down for a while, so she could figure where she is and find the right way.
15 minutes later she bought herself some food and sat down on a bench, when a guy came to her. She could feel him standing close to her, but didn't look up in the first place. He didn't say anything to her and after a while she looked at him. She saw a hot Italian guy with dark brown hair with a strange, but kind of cute curl popping out. She scared.
"Taiwan? What are you doing in my place?" The guy spoke. She recognized him, this was Italy's twin brother.
"Romano! Oh sorry, Japan told me to visit your brother, Italy. I got lost on my way and don't know where I am or where I should go?"
"Japan? Why would he send you with a message to Italy?"
"I don't know. He told me that it was important, but he didn't tell me what is was and I may not read the letter."
"Oh, well, maybe I can help you. Come with me to my place and I can show you where you have to go. I can come with you if you rather have that too."
Taiwan was surprised but Romano's loyalty and how kind he actually was towards her. Japan always told her he was the loud, grumpy and fast annoyed brother of his ally, but he seemed to be very different.
"We're there. Come in." Romano held the door open for her. She smiled.
"What's up?" He asked, she saw a little smirk on his face.
"Oh, nothing. Thanks for helping me." She said, blushing a little.
"No problem. Want a drink?"
"No, thank you." She sat down on the couch in Romano's surprisingly bright house. She looked around a bit, while Romano was making coffee for himself. His house wasn't enormous, but it was a bit bigger than her own house.
"Do you like it?" Romano was standing against the doorpost taking a sip of his coffee.
"Er, yes. It is very nice."
"Thanks!" He smiled. "Where do you need help with?"
"Well, I have to go to Italy, but I have no idea where I am at the moment."
"Then, I feel honored to welcome you in Rome, the capital of mine and Italy's country." He said proud, which made her giggle.
"Thanks, but how do I get to Italy as soon as possible?"
"I can call him tomorrow to come by, that means less travelling for you. And speaking of travelling, it's getting dark and I don't think that it is smart to travel some more today. Do you have a place to stay for tonight? Else you can stay here in my extra bedroom? …If you want to of course."
"Is that okay with you, because I can seek a hotel or something to, if it gives to much work."
"Stay with me, Taiwan. Please." Taiwan almost saw blushes on his cheeks, she was left speechless, she never expected this guy to talk to her like that. It was almost like he was attracted to her. And if she was honest this man didn't leave her cold as well.
After a minute of silence, she could whisper a small okay, which made Romano smile. He suggested to show her the room and asked if she needed anything. She shook her head and walked the stairs after him to take a look at Romano's guestroom. It was a beautiful room with easy access to the bathroom. Everything was white or a light grey, just as the biggest part of the house. But it looked good. There was a huge two-person bed in the center of the room and a big closet on the wall in front of it. On the wall, opposite of the door, Taiwan saw a few bookshelves with some books and other decorative things. She felt Romano's gaze looking at her and she turned her head towards him.
"Do you think you can sleep here?" He asked smirking a bit at the little girl's reaction. She nodded, considering if she could hug him or not. She decided that she better wouldn't hug him. She thanked him with a sigh and he turned around to the stairs again. She went after him. Midway through the stairs he suddenly stopped and said that he was hungry.
"Yes, actually I'm quite hungry too." She replied.
"Have you already eaten something or shall we call for a pizza?"
"No, pizza sounds good!"
They went downstairs and settled down in the living room. Romano picked his phone and they decided which pizza they wanted. While waiting for the pizza to arrive, they talked a little bit about themselves and their families. They laughed and slowly they were getting closer and closer, neither of them noticing the shrinking space between them. Then, they heard the doorbell. Romano got up to open the door and pay the pizza deliverer. Romano walked into the kitchen to get two plates. When he came back Taiwan saw that he was smiling.
They ate their pizza together and talked and laughed. Both were getting even more comfortable with each other. When they finished eating, they watched a bit of television. Taiwan yawned and blushed when she felt Romano smiling at her. She leaned a bit into him. He shocked at the sudden touch of the girl, but he laid an arm around her, surprisingly she immediately laid her head on his shoulder. He smiled.
'Why is she so adorable?' He thought. Then he heard a little sigh coming from her side and when he looked at her, he saw that she slept. He yawned and touched her. She woke up.
"Shall we go to bed?" He whispered.
"Hmm, yeah." She yawned. He grabbed her hand and took her upstairs with him and brought her to her bed. At the door he looked once more at her.
"Goodnight Taiwan. Sweet dreams." He whispered. She hummed in respond. He walked to his own room, thinking about her. And though he knew that she was leaving tomorrow again, but he wanted to cherish every hour they still had together and he desperately hoped she thought the same way too.
Around 3 o'clock in the morning Romano heard a strange sound coming from his guest room. It took him a few moments before he realized that he had Taiwan sleeping over. He punt on a shirt and ran over to the other room across the hall. He opened the door as silent as he could, to not wake her, but he found her bathing sweat and whining.
"Taiwan, are you okay?" Romano asked in panic. She woke up scared. She sat right up in bed and Romano sat down next to her on the bed and put his arms around her to make her feel at ease and tried to calm her down a little. She didn't stop sobbing. Lying in his arms she felt already better.
"Did you have a bad dream?" Romano whispered. His voice sounded so calm and relaxing.
"Yes." She said between two cute sobs. "I did." He asked her what happened and she explained.
"I'm so sorry, are you feeling any better now?" Romano had listened silently at her. He didn't know that these kinds of dreams were torturing this little girl. He really felt sorry for her, he hugged her soft.
"Thanks, you're being much too kind for me."
"You're welcome Do you think you're able to sleep again?"
"Yes." She nodded. She wiped her eyes with the sleeves of her pyjamas.
'God she is so damn cute.' Romano thought and instantly blushed because of his thoughts.
"Uhm, sleep well than, I'm heading back to my room now, is that okay?" He didn't have a respond. He looked down at Taiwan and saw her sleeping with her arms around his waist. He smiled, like this he couldn't get back to his own bedroom. He decided to lie down next to her and try to sleep here.
It was 8 o'clock when Romano woke by a yawn beside him. He turned around and saw Taiwan, her long dark hair lying around her like a mess. But he couldn't blame her, his own hair was probably a mess too. Taiwan turned around and saw him. At first she scared and asked what he was doing here, but she figured that she was at Romano's at the moment and apologized. She blushed when she asked why they were in the same bed and Romano told her she had a nightmare and he came to see if she was alright and when he wanted to leave she had fallen asleep with her arms around his waist. This explanation made her even blush more. Romano laughed at the small girl with a just-woke-up hairdo and pink cheeks.
"That's not funny." She punched him soft. Causing him to laugh even more.
"It's alright, Taiwan, it's not like we did anything bad." She smiled.
"You want some breakfast? You can shower first, if you please. In the meanwhile I'll make some for us and call Italy." When he said that last thing, she kind of looked disappointed, or maybe that was because Romano wanted her to be.
"Okay, thanks." Taiwan stepped out of the bed and picked her stuff out of her bag and went to the bathroom. Romano got up as well, changed in his regular clothes and went downstairs. First he picked the phone and dialed Italy's phone number.
"Veee~ how are you doing? Why are you calling so early, Romano?" Italy's voice over the phone even sounded dorkier sometimes.
"I'm calling because I'm having Taiwan at my house and she has a letter for you from Japan. She was lost so I thought maybe you're able to come by today to pick it up."
"A letter from Japan? Okay, I'll come."
"Thanks, brother. See you!"
"Ciao"
Why does Italy always sounds so happy, even though it's not 9.30 a.m. yet? Romano walked into the kitchen, what should he make for breakfast? After a while of looking in the drawers, he decided to go with eggs, toast and some coffee and orange juice. Everything was almost ready when Taiwan walked down the stairs in her usual outfit and her typical flower in her hair. It looked beautiful how she walked down the white stairs in her mainly pink outfit.
"It smells amazing. You're a cook?" She asked. Romano smiled.
"Kind of. I'm well-known for my pasta's and tomatoes, right? But me, not really. Thanks though, I hope you like it."
"D-did you…call Italy too?" She asked with a shy tone.
"Er, I did. He said he'd come by this afternoon to pick the letter up."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome." Romano picked the two plates he prepared up and placed them on the dining table. He invited Taiwan to join him and the two of them ate in silence.
After breakfast Romano asked if Taiwan wanted to do anything. She said that she'd like to see the Pantheon in Rome, so he took her there. They wandered through the streets of Rome, talking and Romano told a lot about his city. He decided to show her some more and she absolutely loved it. Everything was so different as her country. Romano even taught her some Italian. Around noon they decided to eat something in a restaurant. Taiwan was shocked by how many the Italians eat even though it is just lunch, but Romano told her that it was pretty normal. They ordered pizza (again). It tasted delicious. Taiwan really liked the Italian kitchen. When she asked Romano what the time was now, he answered it was 1.30 p.m.
"Isn't Italy coming by anytime soon?" She asked.
"Oh god, you're right. It totally slipped my mind. Well, I guess we have to go back, eh?"
"Yes, I guess..." Again that small hint of disappointment. They slowly headed back to Romano's house. And this time they were pretty silent both wrapped in their own thoughts. Their arms accidently brushing against each other, but both didn't seem to mind it very much. They had almost arrived at the house when they heard a voice from behind.
"Hello, Romano, Taiwan!" A voice yelled, Italy's voice. Romano sighed and turned around.
"Hey, brother. Thanks for coming." He responded.
"Hey Taiwan. You had a letter for me?"
"I do. Japan told me to give it to you, but why he didn't bring it himself, I don't know. Neither I know where it's about. I have it upstairs in my bag." She told Italy. Romano opened the door and let them in. Taiwan went upstairs to get the letter and Italy walked in the living room. Romano made coffee for all of them and put the cups on the table and sat down on the couch. That moment also Taiwan walked down the stairs with the letter and he bag. She placed the bag on the ground next to the stairs and gave the letter to Italy. They drank the coffee and talked, but Romano couldn't concentrate on the conversation. His eyes were focused on Taiwan's bag. She wasn't leaving now already, right? He didn't want her to, they had so much fun together. He really liked her. He actually hoped that Italy would leave soon, so that he could talk to her before she left. He thought it was unfair to let her leave without telling her how he felt.
After half an hour or so, Italy stood up and told that he was going to leave. He was had a date with Germany he said excited. Taiwan nodded politely, Romano sighed and glared at his back. He was getting sick and tired of his brother only talking about his boyfriend. But he stood up and walked with Italy to the door to say goodbye. When he came back in the living room, he sighed.
"Er, I should leave now too." Taiwan said when Italy had left. "I can't miss my plane." She showed the ticket.
"No, of course." Romano was shocked actually. He already expected her to leave, but so soon. He didn't even had the chance to talk to her one last time.
"Shall I bring you to the train? It's the fastest way of getting to the airport."
"If you want to, please." Taiwan blushed.
"Thanks for being so helpful. I really enjoyed my stay here. Thank you very much." She said soft, she even made a little bow with it. Romano had to prevent himself from sighing.
"You're welcome, Taiwan. You were a great guest." They both smiled. Taiwan picked up her bag and they walked to the car. They didn't said a word during the 15 minute drive to the train. They listened to the music the radio played, wrapped in their own thoughts. When they arrived at the station, Romano bought Taiwan a ticket and they walked to her train. They were a few minutes early and the train wasn't there yet.
"B- But... Are y- you really l- leaving?" He asked her stuttering to break the silence, he felt his cheeks became red. He nervously run with his hand through his hair and he didn't dare to look at Taiwan.
"Er, y- yes, I- I am. I promised Japan to be back as soon as I delivered the letter. I'm sorry." She was just as nervous as he was.
"You don't have to apologize, I had a great time with you."
"Me too." She smiled. And instantly grab his hands with hers and gave him a little kiss on the cheek. They both blushed.
"I hope to see you soon, Romano." She whispered and hugged him. After a few moments she let go and picked her bag up from the ground. She turned around and hopped on the train to bring her to the airport. In the train she turned around one more time and waved at him, she had almost tears in her eyes. Romano waved back at her, really trying the hardest not to cry.
"I hope to see you soon again too, Taiwan." He whispered. He waited for the train to leave and when it did he went back home too.
This was a day he would never forget.
