The reason I'm ending the story here is because honestly, I can't think of anything else that could've happened in Boromir's life. He grew up, ran off, got married, started a family and returned home. I think he pretty much did all he could before the events of the book/movie.

Epilogue

Kyra sighed as she sat on her bed knitting. She looked outside the cave she and Vanim lived in, in the wildness of Ithilien. It had been three years since she and Boromir had separated. Kyra wondered if she would ever see him again. She heard no word from him or any news from Minas Tirith. She hoped he was alright. Kyra looked over to Vanim who sat playing.

Vanim was growing into a beautiful little girl. Her copper colored hair, the same tint as Boromir's grew into wild curls. Her blue eyes shined with happiness. Vanim never questioned her mother about her missing father. She couldn't ask anything about him, if she never knew him.

"Mama", Vanim uttered as she looked out the opening of the cave.

Kyra stood and picked her up and looked out the opening. Behind the rushing waterfall, she could see a group of people coming toward the cave. She didn't know who they were. Kyra placed Vanim on the bed before turning away. She pulled Boromir's knife from under the pillow and walked toward the opening.

"Who goes there?" she called out.

"We come from Minas Tirth!" a man answered. "We mean no harm!"

"Minas Tirith?"

Kyra stood by the opening waiting for the men to arrive. She hoped Boromir was with them. To her surprise, the men entered the cave but none of them looked like Boromir.

"Kyra, is that you?" one of them asked.

"Who are you?" she asked.

The man pulled off his hood to reveal a man who looked similar to Boromir.

"Faramir?" Kyra asked smiling. "Is that you? My, you've grown into a handsome man."

He smiled back and hugged her. Ever since Boromir came home years ago, he had lost his animosity toward her. He had come to realize that Kyra was not to blame for Boromir's behavior. Boromir running off was no one's fault. She watched as the other men removed their hoods. She looked trying to find Boromir in the group, but to her disappointment, he wasn't there.

"Faramir, please tell me", Kyra said. "How is Boromir? Is he well?"

The smile left Faramir's face. Kyra's smile disappeared. Something was wrong.

"Is Boromir not well?" she asked. "Is he hurt?"

"I'm afraid I have some bad news", Faramir said. "You may want to sit down."

Kyra walked to the bed and sat down, pulling Vanim into her lap. She did not like the sound of this. Faramir sighed as he pulled something from his belt. It was some sort of horn that was split in two. Kyra looked at it confused.

"Do you know what this is?"

"It is a horn", she said looking at it. "Boromir carried a horn, but never used it."

"Kyra…this is his horn", Faramir said. "It washed upon the riverbank a few days ago."

"What are you saying?"

"I was on that riverbank the day the horn washed ashore. I saw a boat float down the river. Inside was a body."

Kyra gasped and shook her head as tears came to her eyes.

"No…"

"Kyra…Boromir…is dead."

Tears streamed down her cheeks as Kyra felt her heart shatter. Boromir…her husband was dead? A sob escaped her mouth as she looked away.

"I am very sorry", Faramir said. "I know how much Boromir meant to you."

"I know", Kyra sobbed. "I just wish I could've seen him one more time. I wish he could've seen his daughter once more."

Faramir looked at Vanim who was crawling across her mother's lap. She reached out and touched the broken horn.

"Papa", she cooed.

Kyra and Faramir watched Vanim take the horn. She smiled as she hugged it to her chest.

"Papa."

Kyra wiped the tears from her eyes and held Vanim.

"That's right, dear", she said. "That belonged to Papa. I'm sure Uncle Faramir would like to have it back."

"Papa no go", Vanim cried as Kyra tried to take the horn.

Faramir smiled as he shook his head.

"Let her keep it", he said. "She deserves to have something of her father's."

"But what about you?" Kyra asked.

"Boromir was my brother. I'm sure I'll find something when I return home. Don't worry, Kyra. When I become Steward, I'll make sure you and Vanim return home where you belong."

She nodded as she hugged Faramir.

"Thank you, Faramir. Thank you for telling me."

"I will make you a promise", he said. "Boromir promised to take care of me after our mother died. Now that he's gone, I make the same promise to you. I will take care of you and Vanim."
