lets get started shall we?

"My full name is Matthias Apollos, and I am the son of Hesediel, the Angel of Mercy, and Lucifer, the Fallen One.

I am the only child of both angel and demon in all of creation."

The members of the Newspaper Club stared at him, except for gin who was still unconscious and recovering from being stabbed so many times. Angel and demon? That didn't seem possible. They were two opposing forces that clash violently. How could he be both?

While the Newspaper Club was wrought with confusion, the two gods were utterly dumbstruck. How had Hesediel and Lucifer managed to even spend enough time around each other to have a child? And why did he appear to be normal and not an insane and horribly disfigured monstrosity? The opposing powers should be at war within his body, scarring him and destroying what little remained of his mind.

Matthias stood there and sighed. This was always the pattern. First confusion followed by...

"That simply isn't possible!" Yukari yelled.

Denial, with…

"What kind of creature could possibly keep themselves in check with those two forces within?" Ruby gasped, staring at him.

Revulsion continuing the pattern, and finally…

"How do we know you aren't going to give into your demonic side?" Uven asked him.

The prejudice starts.

He sighed. Here we go all over again. Lather, rinse, and repeat. God-fucking-dammit.

"Look, I realize that you aren't going to trust me. Hence why I wanted to keep my identity a secret. I haven't destroyed anything yet, I've only ever killed demons, and this has been my life for nearly seventeen years. Seventeen years! I think thats pretty impressive." He said, spreading his arms.

Tamel suddenly burst into laughter. "You are naive as hell dude oh my god. Rather, oh my me haha. You think that just 'cause you've never killed a person before that you're always gonna be this way? Every. Single. Person. Like you, has succumbed sooner or later to the hatred that is within. They always do. It is just too fucking much to handle man. Some choose to kill themselves when it happens, others just have fun and rampage with it. Fuck I'm surprised your devil daddy didn't eat your sorry ass when he had the chance!" He laughed uproariously.

Tsukune glanced at Uven. "What does he mean, they all succumbed?"

Uven sighed. "It is a law of reality. Those two powers cannot coexist within a single creature. They are too different. They are so different it's like coming full circle. Both powers are similar in nature and strength but at their core they are different. The self versus the group. They repel each other in the strongest of ways. And this has always driven the poor creature insane, ripping their minds apart."

Moka spoke up then. "Then why keep having these children if they are doomed to die or lose their own minds?"

"Out of the desperation to create weapons that either side can use. The realms that you humans end up referring to as Heaven and Hell are just alternate realities that are at war with one another. They strive to claim this world since it is between the two of them and whomever controls this world can gain a foothold in their war."

Tamel giggled. "Sounds like fun."

"And it would also mean the end of life in this world, innocent or otherwise." Uven stated dryly.

"Oh."

Matthias stood there while they explained his parents sides. He despised being called a weapon. He was a sentient being dammit. Conscious and self-aware and irritated as fuck that anyone would use him in that way. "Jackasses." He growled under his breath.

Tamel cocked his head at the boy, his laughter immediately stopping. Had he heard that right? "What was that?"

With an annoyed look on his face, the hybrid looked at the god. "I called you two jackasses. You're judging me based on history of people that aren't even related to me in any way, shape, or form. I am me, I am myself, and I'm gonna do whatever I decide to! Not what people say I should do."

Tamel's grin widened. Oh, this was gonna be fun. "You think you can talk back to the gods of this world, you little fucker?" More power poured out of the deranged immortal, saturating the air and shifting into the visible spectrum. "I don't care if your parents are an angel and a demon, you're in our world now boy!"

While everyone else was paying attention to the confrontation between the two and readying themselves for what could easily turn into a battle, the attention of Inner Moka was captured solely by the boy Matthias. He was a creature of unfathomable power it seemed. Regrettably, she aquested, he was probably stronger than any of her race, just like Tsukune and the two gods. This man faced constant discrimination if he ever revealed his true nature, yet he still seemed to be strong in himself. He wasn't arrogant, at least, it appeared that way. Almost the opposite. He protected her from Torabe despite not knowing her. She couldn't figure out whether it was because he despised demons that strongly, he wanted to test his power against opponents, or simply because he wanted to help those who couldn't help themselves.

'Remember this young one, strength and power are two similar but very different things.'

Uven's words rang in Inner Moka's mind. Tsukune was always strong he had told her, despite being a weak little human. She had power but not strength he claimed. These words had troubled her greatly, and seeing this person defend others he barely even knew, holding onto his identity despite being despised caused the true meaning of the god's words to slowly reveal itself to her.

While Inner Moka was busy thinking, Tamel and Matthias were staring each other down and sizing each other up. Tamel flaunted his power, flaring it and shredding the ground with its sheer mass. In contrast, Matthias' power rose and fell from his body slowly, methodically, blanketing the atmosphere around him.

"I do not wish to fight you, God of Chaos. But I will defend myself with every breath I draw." The hybrid said, keeping his voice level.

"You may not wish to fight me kid," Tamel said, pulling his hands out of his pockets, "but I sure as fuck wanna fight you!"

"Aaaaaand how about we stop there before we destroy my precious school hmm?"

The Headmaster of Yokai Academy appeared next to Matthias, resting his hand on the boy's shoulder. "His lineage is not unknown to me, and I have approved his entrance application. This school is designed to teach acceptance, do you not remember?" Tamel grumbled at this. "So unless there are any objections, let us go our separate ways then." The Headmaster smiled his creepy smile as he finished.

Tamel sighed and withdrew his power, leaving the earth beneath his feet still horribly cracked. "Eh, not the first graveyard I've desecrated." The god said, lifting a foot and examining the earth beneath him.

"And probably not the last." Uven commented dryly. "C'mon jackass, let's get going already."

Tamel straightened up and swept his arm across the air in front of him, ripping through the fabric of reality with an ear deafening crack and with a burst of purple electricity, walked through it and vanished, the seam sealing itself behind him. Uven simply muttered 'Showoff.' and faded into mist.

The Newspaper Club just stared at where the two gods were just moments ago. Only Ruby and Yukari appreciated the amount of power it would require to rip through dimensions the way they had. Not to mention travelling between the two.

Matthias sighed. "Thanks Headmaster. I'd rather not break the place on my first day."

"Mmm yes, repairs are quite costly." The Headmaster mused. "Best save it for some other time."

"So where are the dormitories? I have the instructions you sent me but they make no bloody sense!" he said, waving the paper that nearly escaped him in the Headmaster's face. "AND I have yet to get my class schedule for the term, and all that other crap."

"Your schedule and everything else you need are currently sitting on your desk in your room. And I'm sure Tsukune-kun here would be more than happy to help you find your room." The chairman said, gesturing to the elemental who had retracted his powers and visibly relaxed once he saw no threat in Matthias. Kurumu gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before helping Mizore and Ruby carry Gin to the campus hospital.

"I'll show him where the dorms are."

Outer Moka's offer surprised Tsukune. Despite her being such a kind and caring person, she was still quite shy when it came to spending any length of time with new people. She was more than happy to answer a question but walking alone with someone was new for her. "Are you sure? I can walk with you two if you'd like." Tsukune offered.

Moka shook her head. "It's alright. I've got this." She walked over to Matthias and pointed off to the side of the graveyard. "It's that way. I'll show you." She said, her face turning the same shade of pink as her hair. "As a thank you for helping me out with Torabe."

The new student blinked. Well, never look a gift horse.. "Sure. That'd be nice, uh…" He trailed off, realizing he had absolutely no idea what this beautiful girl's name was.

"Oh!" Just like him she completely forgot he didn't know her yet. "I'm Akashiya Moka."

"Well then lead on Akashiya-san!" Came his enthusiastic reply as he picked up his bag and stuffed the sneaky sheet of paper into his back pocket and headed off with Moka towards the dormitories, leaving Tsukune to wander back towards the school on his own.

With Moka and Matthias

Sor a time, the only sound the two young yokai heard was the wind whispering through the trees and their footsteps upon the dirt path. Moka was intentionally taking the longest route she could think of. She and her other self wanted to get to know this person. What made him tick so to speak.

Finally after a couple of minutes of walking in silence, Moka mustered enough courage to speak up. "So, um, Matthias…"

He tilted his head to look at her. "Yea? What's up?"

"Well, thank you for saving me back there. You didn't even know me but you helped me out. Why did you do that?" She asked him, a light blush forming on her cheeks.

"Oh. That." His cheeks turned a light shade of pink at her question, surprising her slightly. "Well, there's a two main reasons honestly. First it just isn't right for anyone to attack another person. Self defense is one thing but attacking just because someone is weaker than you or because they're different? That is so utterly self absorbed and egotistical that it makes me sick."

So he has a sense of right and wrong. Outer Moka mused to herself.

… Inner Moka simply listened, still thinking about the Death God's words.

"Secondly, and this is gonna sound utterly ridiculous, when I saw him threatening you I just reacted on instinct. I didn't wanna see you get hurt." He finished, embarrassment turning his face beet red.

Outer Moka turned just as red at his confession. She felt… drawn to this boy. This kind caring boy who was like Tsukune in so many ways, yet was so similar to herself. Growing up isolated, hated, discriminated against for being who they were.

Inner Moka felt this same tug her other side did as well. She had noticed it when Matthias stopped Torabe from killing them. It didn't seem like it affected everyone otherwise those other girls would be fawning over him like they did to Tsukune. This man seemed both reserved and caring. He didn't appear to treat her outer self like a fragile porcelain doll, but he still wanted to make sure she was safe.

Omote.. she called to her other self.

Outer Moka jumped a little and froze mid-step. Ura-chan was actually talking again! Maybe she was feeling a little better.

Ura-chan! How are you? Are you alright? I'm so sorry you haven't been able to come out much at all any-

Will you stop your worrying? I've been thinking that's all. I need you to ask that man to do something.

Wha-what? What do you need me to ask him?

Do I have to spell it out for you?

Well despite us sharing a body and being able to sense each other's emotions, I can't really read your mind so… yes you do. She finished, turning red once again much to Matthias' confusion.

Ugh. Look Omote, there are very specific conditions that have to be fulfilled for anyone to take off this rosario. That's why Tsukune was the only one who could before. It can only be removed by someone who is not only willing to protect us at the cost of his or her own life, that person must also care for us above all others. Inner Moka's tone quieted. She was admitting something that she never wanted to. Her vampire pride wouldn't ever have allowed it before today. But those words "Strong" and "Power" floated inside her mind, making her change the way she viewed people. I messed up with Tsukune. It's my fault that he isn't with us. I knew he cared greatly for us but I was scared of him dying, of his mortality! So I tried to force him out of our lives to spare us the pain.

Ura-chan…

But this man, Matthias. He is something different. It might be like Tsukune's Key and Kurumu's Destined One. You must feel it too. I want to know more about him. I want to be next to him. At his side. So this is what I need you to do…

Matthias was becoming increasingly worried. Moka hadn't moved or made a sound. She was just standing there in the middle of the path, eyes unfocused, with her mouth moving every so slightly every once in a while like she was talking to someone quietly. Great. I just met this chick who's probably the most popular and most sought-after person here and now she's gone into some kinda weird friggin' coma or some shit goddammit what the hell do I do now…

While he was trying to figure out what to do, Moka's eyes refocused and she held in her giggle as she watched him panic. She forgot that he didn't know about Ura-chan yet. She snuck up behind him when he faced back the way they came, probably contemplating whether he should get help or not she said to herself, then poked his back. Matthias jumped a foot off the ground in shock and letting out a yelp. Turning he noticed she was laughing at him as he stared in confusion at her.

"OK firstly, the fuck was that, and secondly, what the heck is so friggin' funny?"

"The way you were going crazy was pretty cute." Outer Moka said, giggling again as he blushed.

"I was legitimately worried why is that so cute?!" He retorted, his face reddening even more in embarrassment.

"I don't know it just is hehe." She replied, giggling even more behind her hand.

Damn she looks even more amazing when she's happy. Its like light is radiating from her, Matthias thought to himself. He shook his head, getting out of his daze. "Alright but what was that? Why did you suddenly just stop?"

"Oh. Right. That. Well, you see, it has to do with this Rosario." Moka said, gesturing at the jewelled cross that hung from her choker. "You see, it has a powerful spell upon it that seals away my true powers and my other self."

Matthias looked closer at the Rosario, staring at the jewel in the centre and jumped slightly when a slitted red eye suddenly appeared on it. "Woah! The jewel! It just… changed! Is that the 'other self' you were talking about?"

Outer Moka nodded. "Our friends refer to me as 'Outer Moka' since i'm usually the one outside and they call her 'Inner Moka'. I just call her Ura-chan." She finished with a smile.

Matthias looked up at Outer Moka, "Does she have a preference?"

She blinked at the unexpected question. "Does she what?"

Do I what?

Matthias straightened up and rolled his neck, working out a slight kink. "Does she have a preference as to what I call her? Personally, I don't exactly mind whatever nicknames people give me but there are some I don't like. Does she prefer being called 'Inner Moka' or 'Ura-chan' though in my case I guess it would be Ura-san, or does she like something else entirely?" He finished, glancing at the eye in the rosario.

Outer Moka stared for a minute in shock. He was the first person to ever actually ask about what Ura-chan would want!

Inner Moka was just as stupefied. She never thought about what people called her because she never truly cared. She just went along with whatever absurd name the Newspaper Club came up with at the time. Since she was never out for extended periods of time, she never made a decision as to how they referred to her.

Outer Moka waited for a second before prompting her other side for an answer while Matthias stared questioningly at the split personality vampiress. Finally he got an answer.

"She… she doesn't really have a preference she says. She needs some time to think about it." Outer Moka said, blushing out of embarrassment for not having an answer.

"Hmm… Got it!" Matthias exclaimed, smacking his fist into the palm of his hand. "I'll call you Moka-san, and-"

"-chan is alright with me." Outer Moka said shyly, a fresh blush forming on her cheeks.

Matthias stopped for a second as he processed this and turned slightly red as well. "Alrighty then Moka-chan it is. As for her, I'll just call her Moka-gozen." He said, smiling.

Both Moka's were slightly taken aback at this. Not out of shock, but out of surprise. It was no shock that Matthias was a foreigner; he was definitely not from anywhere in Asia, his skin, clothes, and accent made that plain as day.

Matthias interpreted this reaction as though he said something wrong and tried to backtrack as quickly as he possibly could. "Of course if she isn't alright with that, I mean, I could try to think up a nickname for her, but I dunno enough to make one up for her, unless she wants me to use the name you call her, although that would be a little bit too familiar since we barely know each other…" he trailed off when the Rosario started to glitter slightly, just like when he could see the light pouring from Outer Moka when she was laughing earlier.

Outer Moka giggled. "She doesn't mind. Although, I think that you should only call her that in private." She whispered conspiratorially in his ear. "It might make her feel special."

"Uh, dah, bluh, wha?" Matthias fumbled, completely taken by surprise.

"This way to your dorm silly!" Moka skipped ahead of him, her earlier feelings of hesitation swept away. She felt utterly at ease with this boy. As did her Inner Self.

So why wasn't he acting fully at ease with her?

Why indeed? Well thats this chappy. Please R&R. Please review. It makes it easier for me to continue if you review. Thanks.
