Chapter Twenty Eight: The Ultimate Weapon
Chapter 28! Yay!
Rebel Camp, Lake Clearing
"I'm part of Team Plasma," Angel said. She let the words hang in the air for a moment, allowing Sonic to soak it all in.
"Wait, what do you mean Team Plasma? You mean like, the evil organization?" Sonic asked in disbelief.
Angel nodded. "I'm…the reason why the apocalypse happened."
Sonic stared at her for a moment, his face expressionless. "I need an explanation," he said quietly.
Angel sighed. "It all started ten years ago…"
Ten Years Ago
A young man with blonde, hair, sharp glasses, and a white lab coat was working on his latest experiment. He was in a dark room in front of is super computer, tapping away at the keys. The seven tubes in the corner were glowing with energy.
"Just a few more adjustments…" he said to himself.
Another man walked in to the room. He wore a long, purple cape, had green hair, and a red metal eye. He used a walking staff with the Plasma logo on it. "Dr. Colress," the man said, acknowledging the the scientist.
Dr. Colress quickly spun around, surprised by the man's prescence. "Lord Ghetsis," he said with a bow.
"How is the experiment going?" Ghetsis asked. "Have you created the six that I asked for yet?"
Dr. Colress nodded. "Even better. I had some extra energy, and I created a seventh one! She'll be the ultimate weapon…"
"Wonderful," Ghetsis said darkly. "How long until they're finished?"
"They should be done right about now, my Lord," Dr. Colress replied. He tapped in a code on the computer. "I, Dr. Colress of Team Plasma, have created the ultimate weapons to take over the Capitol!" He hit one more button on the keyboard, causing the screen to flash. The first six tubes opened as six look a likes came out. They were red, green, blue, yellow, black, and pink, all dressed in gray Plasma uniforms.
"Impressive," Ghetsis said, quite pleased by the doctor's creation. "Their powers?"
Dr. Colress smiled. "The red resembles fire, the green resembles grass, the blue is water, the yellow is electric, the black is dark, and the pink is psychic."
The red was the first to walk up to Ghetsis, a confident look in her eye. She would clearly become the leader of these clones. "We're honored to serve you, Lord Ghetsis," she said with a bow.
Ghetsis looked at Dr. Colress. "You've picked quite the assortment of types," he said. He looked in the corner at the seventh tube. "What about this…extra?"
"I still have a few tests to run on her," Colress explained. "She should be ready soon."
"Excellent," Ghetsis said. "Please have someone notify me when she's ready. If she's as powerful as you say, there is no doubt that we will succeed in conquering this District, than the world!"
Dr. Colress nodded. He watched Ghetsis leave the building, the six copies following him out the door way. "I have high hopes for you," he said to the tube in the corner.
A few hours later, Colress was still working at the seventh clone. "All I need is just a bit more energy, and she'll be finished!" He pressed one of the buttons on the computer. "That's it! She's done!" He took out one of his Poke Balls. "Liepard, I need you to-"
"There's no need for that," a voice said from behind him before he could release the Pokemon. It was Ghetsis, the six clones behind him. "I have to say, Doctor, I'm quite excited to see what you've created."
The young man nodded. He clicked on something on the computer, opening the tube. A small white hedgehog stepped out, her face expressionless.
"I've decided to name her Angelica," Colress said. "She is definitely one of my best creations by far. Her potential as a weapon for us is enormous!"
Ghetsis nodded. "And her power type?"
"She's Normal," Dr. Colress said. He flinched at Ghetsis' unchanging expression. "She has superior potential to become whatever type that is desired, however. Perhaps she may even be able to change types!"
"Interesting." He walked over to the white hedgehog as he reached in to his pocket. He took out nine stones: a Fire Stone, a Water Stone, a Thunder Stone, a Dawn Stone, a Dusk Stone, an Oval Stone, a Leaf Stone, a Sun Stone and a Moon Stone. "Choose which ever one you like."
The clone hesitated, then picked up the Moon Stone. Ghetsis and Colriss watched, expecting some kind of transformation. There was nothing.
Colriss laughed nervously. "That's no issue. Try another one, Angelica."
The hedgehog said nothing, but did what she was told. She touched each stone one by one. Nothing happened.
Ghetsis glared at the Doctor. "What kind of joke is this, Colress?"
"What do you mean?" Dr. Colress asked nervously. "I'm sure if you just give her some time-"
"No," Ghetsis interrupted. "Forget about it. If the others came out fine, creating her is obviously a mistake. I'll get the others to take care of her." He turned to the other six look alikes. "Get her."
The six clones jumped in to action, the water one being the first to attack. She held nunchucks in her hands- she obviously received them while they were away. She swung them at the white hedgehog, hitting her in the face and sending her flying in to the wall.
The white clone stood up slowly, then attacked the blue clone. She threw punch after punch, but most of them missed.
"You are wasting time," Ghetsis said to the six clones. "Use your powers together to destroy her!"
The six of them nodded. The red clone set her sword on fire, ready to fight. The rest of them did the same to their weapons with their powers. The psychic one picked up the seventh clone telekinetically, smashing her through the roof and in to the streets below.
The fiery look alike was the first outside. She grabbed the white hedgehog and pinned her against a wall of a building. She kicked her in the stomach as few times, causing her to fall to the ground.
The other clones soon appeared, surrounding the extra copy. They had their weapons ready to fight.
"Finish her off," Ghetsis said.
The clones concentrated their power together, causing them to glow. They shot power all at once, creating a powerful beam that zapped the seventh copy. She crumpled to the ground in a heap.
"Perfect," the fiery copy said. She and the others flew off in to the sky, leaving the white look alike on the street to die.
Present
"So they just left you there?" Sonic asked in astonishment.
Angel nodded. "After that I just wandered around the District…"
Ten Years Ago
The white clone looked around. She was walking in a rocky mountain, icicles hanging from the ceiling. A few Pokemon were around; a Cubchoo with a runny nose, a Woobat eating an Oran Berry. She stopped abruptly. In front of her was a huge crevice in the ground, at least a hundred feet deep. Curious, she jumped down to the bottom.
There was almost nothing in the room, just a large icy rock. Then she noticed it- a white bat in the corner, frozen in ice.
The clone circled the bat. She had never seen someone like her before. Having no one to talk to, she looked for something to free the bat. She noticed a small spear on the ground. She picked it up, then started chipping away the ice that trapped her. A few hours later, the bat was finally free.
"Rrragh!" she screamed. She kicked the clone away, crashing her in to the in to the wall. "Are you the little jerk that froze me in here?"
The clone shook her head nervously.
"Then who did?" Rouge asked.
The white hedgehog shrugged.
"What, are you mute or something?"
The clone nodded, confirming that she couldn't speak.
"But you have to be able to talk," Rouge said. "What's your name?"
The white copy paused for a moment, then swallowed. "Angelica," she said in a small voice.
"I'd rather call you Angel," Rouge said.
Angel smiled. "I like that." She looked up at the height of the cave they were in. "So, how did you even end up down here?"
"I was looking for a Chaos Emerald," Rouge said. She saw the questioning look on Angel's face, then explained the power of the emeralds.
"Wow," Angel said. "They sound amazing." She heard a small rumbling sound growing louder and louder by the second. "Look out!" she yelled. She pushed Rouge out of the way, preventing her from being crushed by a large falling rock.
Rouge winced, then stood up. "Hey, kid where are you?" She didn't get an answer.
Angel was pinned between the boulder and the icy rock. Her eyes were closed, she obviously had been knocked unconscious. Her body began to glow in a soft blue light. An icy rush went through her spine, the spear in her hand getting colder by the second. After a few minutes her color had gone from a white to a light blue, her clothes changing color as well. She collapsed on the ground, shocked by the cold.
Rouge hesitated for a moment, unsure what to do. "I can find the Chaos Emeralds on my own without some little pest tagging along," she said to herself outloud. She looked back at Angel, still lying on the cold floor of the cave. "On the other hand, someone like her could fetch quite the price." She picked up Angel, flying both of them out of the cave.
A few hours later, Rouge had arrived back at the Team Plasma base, unaware of Angel's history there. She walked in to the computer room, the now light blue hedgehog in her arms. She looked at the Liepard on the ground, licking itself clean. "Where's Colress and Ghetsis?" she asked the catlike Pokemon.
The Liepard nodded its head to the computer. Dr. Colress was typing away at the keyboard, a disappointed look on his face. He didn't seem to notice Rouge standing there.
"Hey, Colress," Rouge said, walking up to the scientist.
"I've told you millions of times, it's DR. Colress," he said, still tapping away at the computer. He turned around. "Now what is it that you…oh my," he said. He looked down at Rouge's arms, only to see that his creation had found her way back to him. He took Angel in his arms, placing her on a nearby table. He felt her pulse, which was beating rapidly. "Her energy is unstable," he said worriedly. "How did this happen?" He asked Rouge.
"She crashed in to that rock in Twist Mountain," Rouge explained. "Then she blacked out or something."
"We need to stabilize her energy," Colress said quickly. "She doesn't have much time," he reached in to the pocket of his lab coat and pulled out a small cyan colored emerald.
Rouge gasped. "But Colress-"
Colress shook his head. "It's the only way," he said. He grabbed a small wrench on the table, then slammed it on the Chaos Emerald. The gem cracked in two halves, then Colress picked up one of them. He turned to the Liepard on the floor. "Liepard, I need you to use Cut on her arm," he said. "Quickly!"
The Liepard ran over to the unconscious hedgehog, then raised a paw in the air. It cut through part of her arm like a blade, fast and swift. Colress placed the emerald inside the opening, the jewel shining brightly as it made contact with her.
Rouge and the young man stood in anticipation, waiting to find what happened. After a few minutes of nothing, they were about to turn and walk away. Then it happened.
Angel's body began to glow again, this time in a cyan light. She was lifted off the table and placed on the ground, feet first. She regained consciousness as she placed her hand on the table for balance.
"Angelica," Colress said in relief. He took a step closer to her, but was stopped when she held out a hand.
Angel gasped when she noticed that the color of her clothes, eyes, and hair had changed to different shades of blue. She looked at the tubes in the corner, seeing her reflection. She realized that she was beautiful. She turned to Rouge, glaring at her. "Why have you brought me back to this hellhole?"
Colress' eyes widened at her statement. "She can talk?!"
Rouge and Angel acted as if he wasn't there. "How was I supposed to know that you were one of us? I was just trying to get a Chaos Emerald."
For the first time since she woke up, Angel noticed that she was still holding the spear. She swung it at Rouge, making her crash in to the wall. She looked back at her spear and realized that it was a bat now. "What?" she said outloud. She stared at it for a moment, then it changed back in to a spear.
Ghetsis stormed in to the room, angry at the constant slamming against the walls. "What in the world is going on here?!" he screamed. "We are running a secret criminal organization in here, and it will not stay a secret if you are constantly-" he stopped when he saw Angel. He rushed over to her, picking her up by the hood of her sweatshirt. "What are you doing back here?!" he yelled. "I thought I told the others to kill you!"
"Oh, please," Rouge said in a casual tone. "It's not like anything you've created could kill anything."
Ghetsis threw Angel to the ground, then walked over to Rouge. "Would you like to test that theory, bat?" he asked menacingly. "We can arrange for that."
Rouge rolled her eyes but said nothing.
"Lord Ghetsis," Colress said nervously. "What do you plan to do with her?" he asked, looking at Angel.
Ghetsis looked back at the clone. "Kill her," he said said rather gruesomely. "And do it right this time!" As if his words were some kind of clue, Liepard viciously tackled Angel to the ground, but was sent flying across the room with an icy punch. "What?!" Ghetsis exclaimed in astonishment.
Angel stood up again. She stared at Ghetsis, emotionless.
"We've found her power," Colress explained uneasily to Ghetsis. "She seems to use ice as a weapon. Rouge said that she ran into the rock in Twist Mountain."
"Interesting," Ghetsis said, an evil smirk on his face. He turned back to Angel. "How would you like to rejoin Team Plasma?"
Angel looked up at him quizzically, but continued to be silent.
"You have immense power," Ghetsis continued. "With my help you can learn how to use it, and lead us to world domination!"
Angel paused for a moment, then nodded reluctantly. "Fine."
Ghetsis smiled. "So you do speak," he said. "Come," he lead Angel out of the room.
Present
"So you went back?!" Sonic asked in shock. "But why?"
"I didn't have anywhere else to go," Angel said quietly. "I had no other choice. If I refused, they porably would have killed me."
"What did you even do there?" Sonic asked.
"I stayed there for seven years, mostly training with the Pokemon," Angel replied. "I sharpened my skills and stuff. Then the other six and I had our first mission."
Three Years Ago
Ghetsis, Colress, and a few other members of Team Plasma were in a heliocopter with the seven look alikes. They were flying over Castelia City, careful to avoid the revealing city lights that flashed in the night sky.
"All right," Ghetsis said to the seven copies. "This is your first mission. All you have to do is sneak in to the city and steal as much stuff as possible without being caught. While your there, create as much chaos as you can. We want them to know we are a force to be reckoned with."
The seven clones nodded then jumped out of the heliocopter. A few landed on the buildings, the others on the ground. Angel in particular landed on the roof of a café. She jumped off the roof and on to the roughly paved street. She was in a small alley filled with dumpsters and trash. There were two Roughnecks leaning against a building, drinking from a bottle of whiskey. There was another man with sunglasses behind a dumpster, a pile of floppy disks in his hands.
Blood pounding in her ears, Angel snuck behind one of the dumpsters near the drunks. She swiftly and silently grabbed the bottle and used it to smack both of them on the side of the head. They fell to the ground unconscious. The floppy disk man saw this, then ran away in fright, dropping his disks on the ground.
"Dammit," Angel mumbled. She chucked the bottle in to the dumpster, then picked up one of the disks. On the label it read TM70:Flash. "Stupid useless move," she said outloud. She picked up the disks and put them in the pocket of her hoodie. She ran out of the alley in to the street, only to be hit by a police car.
Angel winced as she hit the hard ground. A tall woman in a tan uniform and teal hair loomed over her in the darkness. Angel looked back at the car and saw the flashing red and blue lights on top. Crap, she thought.
Officer Jenny held up her police badge. "You're under arrest for terrorization and invasion of the city," she said. She attempted to grab Angel's arm, but she flinched away.
Angel took off down the street running as fast as she could to get away from the police. She could hear the increasing number of voices coming from behind her as she raced around a corner and down another street. Suddenly an officer sprang out of the darkness and tried to tackle her to the ground, but she dodged at the last second. A few more officers attempted to do the same as she ran but they all failed. As she turned to go down another street, she saw two female officers running to her at the same time. She planned to jump out of the way at the last second, but was unsuccessful. The first one pinned her to the street, the second blindfolded her.
"Let me go!" she yelled, trying to struggle free.
"Stop strugglling," one of the officers said in a harsh voice. She held Angel's legs down, keeping her from kicking away.
Angel felt the slight brush of a needle go across her jeans. "No, please, I'll do whatever you say-"
"Shh…" the other officer said quietly. Her voice was much softer than the other officer. "Just relax and focus on the sound of my voice…"
Angel began to protest, but then felt a slight pinch in her thigh. A calm sleepy feeling washed over her. Her muscles began to relax, her limbs felt heavier and heavier. She gradually stopped struggling as her tired eyes closed. Soon she was in a deep sleep.
Angel woke up to the sound of talking. She sat up dizzily, then looked around. She was in a jail cell for a single person. She turned to the bars of the cell. There was a man in a black cape talking to Officer Jenny, then handed her a check. The officer walked over to the cell and took out her keys, unlocking it. She glared at Angel as she opened the door. Angel walked out nervously to the cloaked figure. She followed him in to a car, unsure of where they were going.
"Lord Ghetsis is pretty pissed at you," the cloaked figure said. It was Colress. He continued to stare straight forward, eyes on the road.
"I figured he would be," Angel said, looking down at her lap. She was still super tired after last night. The sunlight reflecting off the buildings and the hood of the car gave her a headache.
"I'd protect you from him, but unfortunately I swore an oath to obey," he said.
Angel scoffed. "Yeah right."
"I would," Colriss said. "It's like you don't trust me."
"I don't!" Angel snapped. "So what if you created me? I don't have to like you. I don't even have to listen to you! Why am I even still here?"
"Because," Colress said through gritted teeth. "If Team Plasma is going to succeed in conquering the world, we need you." After a few ours of silent driving, he pulled in to the parking lot in front of what used to be the Icirrus City Gym. The air was freezing outside; there were small snowflakes falling on the ground, the clouds were dark and gray. He and Angel walked in to the computer room where Ghetsis was waiting.
Ghetsis grabbed Angel by her sweatshirt, then punched her in the face. She fell to the ground, a bright red mark on her cheek. "You useless lab rat!" he yelled. "Do you have any idea what you've done? You almost blew our cover completely!" She attempted to stand up, but was kicked down again. He turned to Colress. "This girl…creating her was a mistake! I want her destroyed. No questions." He stormed out of the room as the six clones came in. "Finish her off," he said. He walked out of the room.
The fiery clone tackled Angel, crashing them both through the wall and in to the street. The other five clones soon arrived. The green copy took out her whip, slashing it across Angel's already red cheek. The electric one threw her throwing stars at Angel. It shot a paralyizing shock through her body, making her crumple to the ground. The others came in and began kicking and punching her. She ducked out of the way before she could be hurt even more.
"It's over," Amber said as she stood over Angel. "We can make this a lot easier if you just give up now."
Angel shook her head. "I am not going to stop fighting until the very end." She jumped in to the air, then transformed her spear in to a gun. She shot at her enemies, mostly missing. Amber threw her sword at her. It made direct contact and knocked her to the ground again.
Angel stood up slowly, then raised her fist in the air. She began to concentrate all of her power in to it, sucking in all of the cold air and forming an icy aura. It soon surrounded her whole body as the wind began to blow violently. Windows on buildings broke, enormous trees were uprooted from the ground. The snow whipped through the air as the sky got darker and the atmosphere got colder. Soon Angel was barely visible through all the snowy chaos.
Then…an explosion.
The icy explosion ripped through the city, sending people, Pokemon, and everything else flying in all directions. The affects could be seen and heard from thousands of miles away. The icy blast froze over everything in the District, leaving nothing but ice and snow in the ruins of a place that was once filled with life of all kinds. There was nothing left, not even a single blade of grass.
Somehow the six clones had survived through the insanity. Amber brushed the snow off her sweatshirt as the other five stood up. She looked around a spotted a light blue figure in the snow. The six of them walked over to her.
Angel was sprawled out on the ground, her right leg bleeding intensely. The snow around her was dark red. Her eyes were closed.
The black clone took out her dagger, but Amber stopped her. "She's finished our mission for us. There's no reason to stick around." She took off in to the air, the other five soon behind her.
Present
"So what happened after that?" Sonic questioned.
Angel sighed. "After that I woke up, looked down and realized that my foot was missing. I found a guy that made me a new one. For the next few years I just wandered around, stealing or scavenging for whatever I needed to survive."
"The apocalypse," Sonic said in amazement. "That was all you!"
Angel could only nod.
"Why didn't you tell anybody?" he asked.
"I didn't want to put anyone in danger," she replied. The Capitol's after me and anyone who knows. I told you because someone was gonna find out sooner or later. Speaking of which," she looked up at Sonic. "You can't tell Tails."
"Why?" Sonic asked.
"I can't let him hurt again because of me. He's already having a hard time as it is. Please don't say anything."
Sonic nodded. "I won't tell anyone."
"Thank you so much," Angel said, hugging him. "It means a lot to me." She let go of him after a few seconds. She looked at the sky, which was beginnig to turn pink. "I should get going." She stood up and ran back toward the camp, leaving Sonic behind.
Chapter 28's done! Yay! Now you know all about Angel and her past and all of that stuff. I had an interesting morning today.
