Chapter 32: Rogue Robots!
This idea for a chapter came to me in a dream last night. I don't know how I thought of all this when I fell asleep watching Conan, but it works! Enjoy!
Capitol, President Bunny Office
President Bunny was in his office. He pressed a button on his pager. "Tina, get Dawson in here," he said.
"Yes, Mr. President sir," she replied.
A few seconds later the bodyguard entered the President's office. "You asked for me, Mr. President?"
President Bunny nodded. "Have you got all of the guards out?"
"Every last Steward-bot," Dawson replied. "Like you wanted it. No one can get in, no one can get out."
"Perfect," the President said. "Now…we wait."
Capitol Entrance
The rebellion was standing outside the entrance to the Capitol. The Capitol was a huge circular dome that had a radius that was at least two hundred miles. The dome was made of glass and white metal, the bright sun reflecting off of it. The top of the dome was open, allowing the skyscrapers to actually touch the sky.
"So this is the Capitol?" Robin asked.
Knuckles nodded. "Where millions have died," he said, a hint of anger in his voice.
"How are we gonna get in there?" Duncan asked.
Everyone turned to Tails to figure out how to open the door.
"No, no, no," Tails said, shaking his head. "There's no way on this Earth that I'm going to try to open another stupid door."
"But Tails!" Melaney begged. "You have to open it! It's the only way we can get in!"
Tails sighed. "Fine." He walked over to the door and looked at the control panel. "You might as well zap me now," he mumbled as he opened it. "We all know it's gonna happen." He pressed a few buttons. The door soon opened, and no one was electrocuted. "Huh. I was wrong. I-" he was cut off when a jolt of electricity came from the control panel and shocked him. "What is this place's problem with me?!" he threw a rock at the door, only for it to bounce back and hit Joey in the head.
"Hey, watch where you throw, fox!" Joey shouted as he rubbed his head. "God, you're worse than the Tails Doll."
"Joey, if I had to choose between you and the Tails Doll, I'd choose the Tails Doll," Tails replied.
"Oh, no one cares," Morgan said, using Joey's catchphrase against them. The rebellion then headed in. The building they had entered had white, sleek walls and a black floor that was so clean you could see your own reflection in it. The ceiling had bright lights that filled up the room, making all of the security cameras visible.
Zoey raised a finger to her lips, signalling for everyone to be quiet. Tails silently flew to another control panel, careful to stay out of the camera's range. He opened it up, then pulled out a few wires. The cameras fell to the ground, dead. He flew back to Zoey and the others. "Coast is clear," he whispered with a thumbs up. The rest of the rebellion hurried in to a wide hallway with doors on both sides.
"Where do we go now?" Beast Boy whispered.
"We split up in to groups, taking out as many security cameras as possible," Zoey replied. "And make sure you're quiet. There are Peacekeepers and Steward-bots everywhere," she gasped as she heard a beeping sound coming from down the hall. "Hide!" she whispered. The rebellion split up in different directions, each one hiding by getting between a door and a wall. Angel had gone with Tails. They both leaned up against the door, waiting for the beeping sound to go past.
The beeping sound had come from a Steward-bot. The robot was gray and very futuristic looking and floated in the air. It had a yellow blinking light on its head and a square shaped screen below it. The screen was red and had a white hand on it. The Steward-bot kept repeating "Halt, halt," as it passed by.
"Wow," Tails whispered to Tails as the Steward-bot went by them, not knowing they were there. "The Capitol really has some high-tech stuff. I wonder-" he stopped when his emerald radar started ringing at full volume. "What does the fox say…"
The Steward-bot whipped around in a split second and shot a laser at the two of them, which missed. "Halt," it said in a male robotic voice. Tails was frantically trying to shut the radar off.
"Tails, what the heck are you doing?!" Angel exclaimed. The two of them were still cornered between the wall and the door as the robot shot another laser at them. Angel ripped her spear out of her metal boot and turned it into a laser gun, shooting down the Steward-bot. Before it died, the robot used its camera to take a picture of the two. The picture had Angel's gun pointing at the camera while Tails tried to shut off the radar behind her. At the bottom it said "CAUTION" in bold letters. The picture then came on the screens in the hallway and throughout the rest of the Capitol.
"Caution, Rogue Robots," a robotic female voice said over the intercome. It continued to repeat it as more beeping sounds came down the hallway.
"Robots?!" Angel exclaimed. "What in the world-"
"Never mind that!" Tails said as he grabbed her arm. The two flew through the long hallway as more Steward-bots chased and shot lasers at them.
"Who was stupid enough to call you?" Angel asked as she dodged another laser. She turned around and shot down another robot with her gun, flying backwards.
Tails looked down at the emerald radar. "Joey."
Capitol Entrance, West Wing
Joey quickly shut the Pokedex off and put it away. He had planned to call Zoey to ask where everyone was, but had accidently called Tails instead.
"Caution, Rogue Robots," a female voice said from above him and Morgan. They were under a holographic screen which displayed the picture of Tails and Angel.
"Joey!" Morgan scolded him. "You were seriously stupid enough to call someone?"
"I didn't mean to call him!" Joey exclaimed. His Metagross stood behind him and used its psychic powers to ram a Peacekeeper in to a wall. "What do we do now?" he asked.
"We're going to help them," Morgan replied.
Capitol Entrance, East Wing
"What do we do?!" Angel asked frantically. She chucked her spear at a group of Steward-bots, making it puncture through three in a row. She used her powers to bring it back to her.
"Don't ask me!" Tails exclaimed. He used the Homing Attack on a group of robots, destroying them all in to rubble. He deflected a laser from another Steward-bot with the gray cuffs on his wrist that were hidden by his gloves. He looked down at his hand. "So that's what those are for." He looked back at Angel, who was using a dead bot's laser to shoot down the others. There were still hundreds coming from down the hallway.
Angel kicked another robot down when she heard a ringing sound coming from her pocket. She pushed the button, making the holographic screen appear before her. It was Morgan. "What do you want?" she asked as she used her own laser to kill off another Steward-bot.
"You and Tails need to get out of there," Morgan replied. "We have a plan."
"Wait wha-" Angel began to say, but stopped when the screen went down. She looked where it used to be, only to see that more Steward-bots were in front of them.
"Hey! Over here!" a voice said from a few feet behind the robots. They all turned around simutaneously while Tails and Angel watched. It was Joey. "What does the fox say?" he began to sing. The Steward-bots started floating toward him, losing interest in their two original targets. Joey ran away tauntingly, ringing and dinging as he sped down the hall. The robots chased after him.
Tails took out his emerald radar and pressed a few buttons, calling Joey. "What are you doing?!" he asked.
"Saving your butts," Joey replied, using his Pokedex. "Just keep going with the mission. I'll take it from here."
"Okay," Tails said reluctantly. He hung up and grabbed Angel's arm again. The two of them flew down the hall as fast as possible.
"Caution, Rogue Robots," the female computer voice said again from above.
"Oh, shut up," Angel said. She punched the beam that kept the holographic screen up, causing it to fall to the ground and stop. She resumed flying with Tails, eager to get away from the security cameras.
Capitol Entrance, North Wing
Sonic and Shadow were both surrounded by Steward-bots on all sides. Sonic performed a Homing Attack on a group of them while Shadow used his Chaos Spear to take out multiple robots at the same time. It seemed like they would never stop coming.
"Man, they just won't quit," Sonic said as he kicked another Steward-bot down.
Shadow nodded. "The Capitol thinks they've got us. Hmph, they wish," he used his Chaos Spear to take out another five Steward-bots, then kicked another one down. The two hedgehogs ran down the hall, both going at the same speed. They stopped when they came to an intersection of hallways, a familiar red fox rushing towards them.
"What are you guys doing here?" Joey asked, out of breath.
Sonic heard the Steward-bot voices from coming down the halls. "It sounds like the same thing you're doing." He looked up above them at another holographic sign and saw Tails and Angel's picture. "Where are they?" he asked quickly.
"I left them down in another hallway," Joey panted. "I was distracting the-" he stopped when a laser just barely missed his head. "Gotta go!" he took off again, the two hedgehogs following him. "What are you doing?" he asked.
"Hmph," Shadow said. "There's no way you're going to survive when they catch up to you," he whipped around and threw a Chaos Spear at one of the bots. "Just be lucky that you're on our side." The three of them kept running until they ran in to two more rebels, Morgan and Melaney.
"How'd you guys get here?" Sonic asked.
"We were looking for Tails and Angel," Melaney panted. "They've sent out even more robots, Sonic. They seem really keen on catching those two for some reason."
Sonic turned around and realized that there were no Steward-bots behind them. He looked back at Melaney. "Where did they…"
Morgan nodded. "They've gone after them."
Sonic shook his head in disbelief. "But why?"
"It's because Angel was in Team Plasma, it has to be!" Melaney exclaimed. "There's no other reason why they would target those two."
"But that doesn't make sense," Joey argued. "Why would they go after Tails for something Angel did?"
Shadow crossed his arms and frowned. "Because if one of them dies, the other will suffer."
Capitol Entrance, East Wing
Tails and Angel were now surrounded by Steward-bots on all sides, backed against a wall and trash chute. The robots were heating up their lasers and getting ready to shoot. The two were already exhausted from fighting the seemingly endless amount of robots.
"I guess this is it," Tails said. He closed his eyes and pulled Angel close, waiting for the blast to hit them. He waited for a few seconds, but felt nothing. He opened his eyes to see Angel countering the Steward-bots lasers with her own. "What are you doing?!" he exclaimed.
"I'm not going down without a fight," she said, her laser still going. She broke away from his grip as the Steward-bots intensified their power. Soon it became too overwhelming for her to bear and the blasts hit her knee, crushing it. She cringed in pain and covered it quickly with her hand to stop the bleeding. Tails tried to help her, but she pushed him away as more beams hit her body. One of the Steward-bots charged up a final blast which hit her in the chest, knocking her in to the trash chute below.
"Angel!" Tails yelled. He turned back to the Steward-bots, then Homing Attacked them all to destroy them. He then jumped down the chute below.
Capitol Entrance, Garbage Airlock
Tails landed with a thud, then stood up. He was standing on a large pile of trash that was surrounded by even bigger piles. The area was dark and dirty, much unlike the place above them. He realized he was in the garbage airlock. "Angel?" he called out. No answer. He flew down to the base of the pile and started walking through the mess, looking for her. He noticed something that looked like a small blue stick in another heap of trash. It was her spear. He took a step closer and noticed the emerald on his arm was glowing. "She's nearby," he whispered to himself. He reached out and grabed the spear, but flinched back when an icy shock went through his arm, causing a small think chunk of the emerald to fall to the ground. He picked up the piece and stored it in the fluff of one of his tails, then reached for the spear again. He fought through the cold and started looking again, then stopped in his tracks when he heard a moaning sound coming from the distance. He flew to it as fast as he could. It was Angel, barely conscious.
Angel was severely hurt, mostly by her knee. Her jeans were soaked in blood, her hands clutching her injury as she cringed in pain. Tails gently pried her hands away. She looked at him as if she had just realized he was there. Tails grabbed a small piece of glass from the trash and used it to cut the fabric above her knee. He noticed that there was no bone, but metal instead. It had broken in to multiple pieces and was puncturing the flesh around it. I didn't know she had a metal knee… He carefully began to put the pieces back where they belonged, but a small fragment of metal in the center was missing. He looked back up at her; her eyes were starting to water. "I'm sorry if this is hurting you, but I don't know what else to do," he said, looking down at the floor. He gasped, then pulled out the fragment of the emerald that had come off earlier. It was about the size of the gap in the metal that he needed. He pushed the emerald piece in to place, setting off Angel's reflexes and making her jump three feet in the air.
Angel was still in the air when she realized what happened. She looked down at her knee and saw the piece of the emerald, then looked back at Tails. "Thank you," she said with a smile.
"No problem," Tails said. He tossed her the spear, which was caught. "Let's get out of here now." Angel nodded, then grabbed his hand. The two of them flew back up to the top of the trash chute where a Steward-bot was waiting for them.
"Hal-" It was cut off when Angel formed her spear in to a gun and shot it down. Like the previous one, however, it managed to get a picture before it died. The new picture was displayed all around the Capitol again, signalling that the two of them were still alive.
"My God, those things are annoying," Angel said. Tails nodded in agreement. They took off down another hall. The end of the hallway turned out to be the end of the building. The two were now outside. The street they were in was crawling with Peacekeepers, each with a gun in hand. They leaned up against the wall, waiting for the others to arrive.
Sonic and Shadow were the first to get there, then the others soon began to show up. "We thought you guys were dead," Sonic said with a sigh of relief.
Angel laughed. "You don't think we're that easy to get rid of, do you?" She took a step forward, but stopped when a bright shined down on her from the sky. She looked up to see at three heliocopters in the air, targeting her. Tails tried to run in and save her, but was prevented from doing so when one of the heliocopters dropped a large glass dome over him and the other rebels. A pink gas began to be pumped in to the dome by the second heliocopter.
"Tails!" she exclaimed. She attempted to run to the dome to save them, but was stopped when a large cage was dropped over her by the third heliocopter. She formed her spear in to a hammer to try to break the bars, but they were to strong. The heliocopter began to raise the cage in the air, taking her away.
"No…" Tails gasped. He pounded his fist on the dome as the gas entered his lungs, then collapsed on the ground, fast asleep.
Chapter 32's done! Yay! So like I said before, this came to me in a dream. This is obviously a parody to the movie WALL-E, with the same Steward-bots and everything. I decided to use the deleted scene for Garbage Airlock instead though, where originally EVE was the one who was electrocuted by Auto and fell in to the trash chute. When the two got down in the Airlock, WALL-E fixed her computer chip by placing the lighter in it. So…yeah, lighter, emerald piece, you get the idea. And another thing, What Does The Fox Say here is obviously the equivalent to Put On Your Sunday Clothes in the movie, where the song goes off at the worst time possible and gets the two of them noticed by the Steward-bots. I even went a little further with this and made Joey be the one imitating the song to get the Steward-bots distracted, just like that vaccuum thingy in the movie. (No, not MO, there was another one.) And with this really long Author Note, we now have reached 60,000 words! Thank you guys so much for your support! See you around!
