Haley sighed as she sat down beside Peyton's hospital bed. She sent Lucas, Nathan, and Jamie to the hotel to shower and get something to eat. She knew that they had been reluctant to leave but she wanted some time with Peyton without the men and her son around. She had a lot that needed to be said which couldn't be with them right there. She gently ran a hand over Peyton's stomach as she looked at the girl who was like a sister to her. "I never told you how much you meant to me, Peyton, because I always assumed that I would have the time to do so. Seeing you like this makes me wish that I could turn back time just so I can tell you how much you mean to me and how much I love you. I always wondered when we were growing up in junior high and the start of high school what Lucas saw in you, but as soon as I got to know you I found out for myself what he saw in you."

She stopped talking to swipe at a tear that fell from one of her eyes. "He loves you so damn much, Peyton, and I know that you love him just as much. When I found out what he did and said to you I went off on him the next day once I cooled down a bit. I couldn't believe that the boy who was like a brother to me could say something like that to the woman that I know he loved and loves with all of his heart. I'm not asking you to forgive him right away because in all honesty I don't think that you should, but I am asking you to eventually forgive him because he didn't mean a word of what he said to you."

She took in a deep breath and let it out. "You are going to be a mom, Peyton, and I know that you will love your babies with everything that you have in you, but you need Lucas too and not just for the babies. You need Lucas because you and I both know that you aren't complete without him. You and I both know that you will never be satisfied by not having him in your life and by your side. I know that you have loved Lucas just as long as he has loved you. I also know that you know he didn't meant the things he said, but that he was trying to protect himself because he was scared of just how much he loves you."

She chuckled slightly. "Lucas is a man as you damn well know and I know that you know that all men act stupid most of the time. Lucas is just like a regular man in not thinking about the things he said before he says them, Peyton. Should you be mad at him for the words he spoke to you? Oh, hell yes you should be pissed off and make his life hell a while because of the words that spewed from his mouth. Should you walk away from him and not look back? We both know that the answer to that question is a resounding no. You and Lucas would be miserable without one another and in turn your three babies would be just as miserable if not more."

She huffed. "The one thing I have learned about you, Peyton Sawyer, is that you are stubborn. Once you have your mind set on something you go through with it even if you know that you shouldn't. Case in point being you leaving Tree Hill even though you knew that you shouldn't. God, Peyton, I could strangle you something fierce for what you have put Nathan through these last three and a half months. I get that you needed time away and on your own, but really, woman, you didn't need to stay gone so long. Nathan loves you something fiercely and if I didn't know that he was in love with me I think I would worry about just how much he loves you sometimes."

She rolled her eyes as she tried to get the right words that needed spoken. "Nathan feels as if he has let you down because you felt like you couldn't count on him to be there for you. He feels that he did you wrong all those years ago, when you and he were in a relationship with one another and that he needs to make up for it to you. Nathan may not have ever been in love with you, Peyton, but you were never really in love with him either. He may not show it all the time, but we both know that you have a special place in his heart. Hell, girl, he punched his own brother not once but twice because of what Lucas said and did to you."

She smiled slightly. "I sometimes wonder if Nathan hasn't adopted you when I wasn't looking because of how protective of you he is. I know that he is keeping something from me about you and I have a feeling it is something that only he and you know. I know when he came out to see you in L.A before you moved back to Tree Hill that something had happened, but no matter how many times I asked him he wouldn't tell me what it was that he did out there and why he had to go. I know that most women would be suspicious of their husband picking up and running to another woman, but I trust him and I trust you completely because I know that neither of you two would do anything to hurt me."

She sighed as she ran a hand through her hair. "Believe it or not I owe you for the man that Nathan has become. I know that had you not been in his life like you were that he would have turned out differently. You kept him sane during many times in his life just like I know that he kept you sane during many times in your life. You are our son's Godmother, Peyton, and we chose you out of everyone because we knew that no matter what you would be there for Jamie if something happened to us. Jamie misses you and he hated seeing you like this so, you need to wake up soon, honey, because he needs you just like Nathan, Lucas, Brooke, the babies, and I need you."

She thought about what happened before her, Nathan, Lucas, and Jamie had left Tree Hill to get to her. "I think that you should know that Lindsay found an engagement ring in one of Lucas' dresser drawers and automatically put it on and told Lucas that she would marry him. Today, Lucas finally told her that the engagement was never meant for her and that it was your ring. He told her that it was over and that it was you that he wanted and that it was you that he has always wanted and always would want."

She pursed her lips as her eyes flashed in anger. "Lindsay decided to tell Lucas what happened a couple years ago, during the book signing that he invited you to. She told him that she had seen you and that she kissed him to make you go away which you did. I have never seen Lucas as angry as he was at that second before and it kind of scared me. I know that you need rest because it looks like you haven't been sleeping or eating, but as soon as your body rests enough you need to wake up because I'm not sure how much longer Lucas will be able to keep it held together. Brooke will also be here later to see you. I love you, Peyton, we all do so, you get better and you come back to us."

She sat back in the chair she was sitting in, but kept her hand on Peyton's stomach. She knew that when Peyton woke up that she would ask about the babies and she wanted to be able to give her good news. She knew that Peyton and Lucas had a long road ahead of them, but she also knew that if anybody could make it back to one another it would be those two.

The next chapter will be Brooke talking to Peyton once she arrives at the hospital and then the chapter after that will have everyone in the room and Peyton waking up finally...
