Tristan looked down and smiled when he saw that Rory had fallen asleep against him. He wasn't really surprised that she had. He looked at his grandfather who was also looking at Rory and shook his head. "I don't think we should have allowed her to go to school today, Grandpa, because she has been exhausted all day. If she still looks like this tomorrow then she can stay home and I'll go to school. I'm actually surprised that she made it the whole way through and managed to make sure I didn't lay some boy out on the floor like I wanted to."
Janlan looked at his grandson with a raised eyebrow. "Why did you want to lay some boy out on the floor, Tristan?"
Tristan sighed and ran his free hand down his face. "The little asshole in question had his hands on Rory and he was scaring her. If you look at her wrist you can see the bruise that is already starting to form. The only reason I didn't punch him is because I felt that getting Rory to eat something was more of a priority. He had just better hope I don't ever see him even trying to touch Rory again or he will wish that he was never born."
Janlans eyes flashed as his face hardened. "Who in the hell thought it was alright to put their hands on Rory, Tristan? I want a name and I want it now."
Tristan sighed again but knew better than to ignore his grandfather's question. "The boy in question is Daniel Hammond, grandfather."
Janlan's eyes darkened in anger. "Isn't that the boy that Emily was pushing Rory to date, Tristan?"
Tristan growled low in his throat at the reminder but nodded. "Yes it is, grandpa. I want to make him pay for putting his hands on Rory."
Janlan nodded but before he could say anything Michael DuGray's voice came from behind them as he hissed "Who put their hands on my daughter?"
Tristan groaned and looked over his shoulder at his dad and motioned for him to come sit. Once his dad was sitting down he looked him in the eyes. "Keep your voice down, dad, because I don't want Rory woke up just yet. As for who put their hands on Rory that would be Daniel Hammond."
Michael's eyes grew cold. "Why in the fuck did he put his hands on Rory?"
Tristan ran a hand through his hair. "I wasn't there at the beginning so I don't know everything, dad. From what I gathered from what was said he was pissed that she had turned him down once more. He really needs to learn how to keep his hands off things that don't belong to him. When I got to Rory it was just in time to see fear and panic in her eyes and once I saw that I let loose on Daniel. Needless to say everyone at Chilton now knows that Rory is my wife. We even took our rings off our necklaces and put them on our fingers. We saw no reason to continue hiding them once I let the cat out of the bag about us being married."
Janlan and Michael both nodded but it was Janlan who said "I want a picture of Rory's wrist because we will be pressing charges against, Hammond. I also think that it is about time that we have a talk with Richard about controlling his wife. I will not see Rory get hurt because of her grandmother. If need be we will get a restraining order against Emily Gilmore so that she can't bug Rory anymore."
Tristan smiled slightly at his grandfather because he knew that his grandfather meant what he said. He knew that his grandfather and even his father would do anything and everything that they had to in order to make sure that Rory was safe, happy, cared for, and loved. He couldn't help but smirk at the thought that it was his wife that brought them to all act like the family that they are. He shook his head and looked down at Rory with all the love that he felt for her. He looked back at his dad and grandpa. "I'm going to need you two to help keep mom and Lorelai in line when it comes to planning the belated wedding reception please. Since we came clean today Louise wanted to throw a party but Rory put her foot down and told Louise that she could coordinate with mom and Lorelai on a party. We all know how much Rory doesn't like attention on her so I'm hoping that the party will be low key but I doubt it."
Janlan frowned slightly. "We'll hold the party here so that if need be you can take Rory to your guys bedroom for a break. I don't care if it is my daughter in law and Rory's mother they will listen to what I have to say. Right now Rory doesn't need any undue stress put on her and having a party that she doesn't really want will do that. I'll make sure that Celine, Lorelai, and Louise know that plans have to be okayed by me. Other than the Hammond thing how did school go today?"
Tristan shook his head. "As I said earlier it went good for the most part. I kept a close eye on Rory because she was exhausted and everyone could see it. If she doesn't sleep much tonight or still looks like she does now come tomorrow more I don't think she will be going to school. Right now she needs to get as much rest as she can. I almost brought her home at lunch time because she looked like she was barely making it through the day."
Michael sighed and shook his head. "I think you both should stay home tomorrow and catch up on the sleep you missed over the weekend. One of us will call you in, in the morning to let the school know that you won't be there. Celine and Lorelai should be here in the next thirty minutes to an hour and then we can have supper and you and Rory can go to bed."
Tristan shot a smile at his dad. "Thank you."
Michael shook his head at his son again. "No thanks needed, son. I am finally being the dad I should have been while you were growing up. My biggest regret is that it took me this long to see what I was doing to my family."
Tristan smiled ruefully at his dad. "In all honesty dad it took me meeting Rory too before I saw that what I was doing was wrong. She is good at making people see things that they normally wouldn't see. What matters now is that you are the dad I have always wanted growing up finally. We're family and we will always be family."
Michael nodded and sat back in his chair. He watched his son watch Rory sleeping and couldn't help but smile. He had to admit that Rory and Tristan were perfect for one another. He just couldn't wait until his grandchild was born because that would just make it more perfect than it already was.
