"My Sister's Keeper"

After we got away from the forest, we ended up on a road in the middle of the desert, the hot sun beating down on us all and I was falling a bit behind with Kari, both of us being affected by the heat more so than the others.
"This road has to be going somewhere, right?" Tai asked.
Kari then coughed, but I was trying to hold my breath so I didn't make anyone worry.
This is torture; I thought I was over this.
"Don't count on it. Nothing is certain in the Digital World." Tentomon said.
"Do you have a fur ball, Kari?" Gatomon asked.
Kari started to lose her footing, so I grabbed her arm and wrapped it around me so we could both continue on.
"No, silly I'm OK." Kari rasped.
We were both far behind the group as they walked on, Kari trying to help me walk as we held each other up.
"Only a cactus could love this place." Sora commented.
Tears were in my eyes now, blurring my view and I tripped over my feet, falling to the ground with Kari, both of us panting hard.
"Hikari! Daisuke!" Tai called out when he heard us fall.
He, V-Mon, Agumon, Nekomon and Gatomon ran over to us in worry.
(Later…)
"They have got to stay out of the sun and we've got to find a way to get their fevers down soon." Sora said.
They had carried us over to a bench that had this metal awning over us to keep us in the shade, then placed wet clothes on our forehead.
"Don't worry, I won't leave you." Gatomon said as she looked over Kari.
V-Mon was trying to fan me off with his hands and Nekomon was doing the same to Kari to try and help, but our faces were both burned red.
"Yeah." Kari gave a smile and nodded.
"How come you didn't say something before now, you two? If we had known sooner, then we could have rested until you were both better." Tai said with tears struggling to not fall.
"Are you mad? I didn't want to slow everyone down." Kari said before she coughed.
"I'm not mad." Tai assured.
He then looked over to me as I just stared into space.
Tai then walked off with Izzy, Tentomon and Agumon to talk while Sora, TK, Biyomon and Patamon looked over us as Gatomon was still worried, V-Mon and Nekomon both fanning us.
Tentomon then said he found something, so he digivolved to Kabuterimon and we all got on his back, Tai holding Kari and I in his arms as the bug took to the air.
"It's up ahead. You wanted civilization; well it doesn't get more civilized than this." Kabuterimon said as he soared over the ocean with a big bridge that led to a metal city.
"Is that America? Do you think they have a bathroom?" TK asked.
"That's New York City, but that isn't." Sora said as we flew over a coliseum.
"That's Rome, we studied it in geography and that's the Arc de Triumph, it's in Paris. They're all smooshed together." Izzy said.
"It's like that theme park in Florida." Tai said.
"Except that this place is deserted. Look, there's not a sign of life anywhere." Sora said.
Kari and I both moaned as we leaned back into our brother's arms.
"Hey, Izzy, the girls are getting worst. We've gotta find some place to land." Tai said.
"Oh, yeah, right. Uh…" Izzy said as he looked around.
"This looks like a nice, quiet spot." Sora said about a mansion and Kabuterimon landed in front of it.
We went inside, the boys looking for food and medicin while Sora and our digimon took us upstairs to the bedroom, placing me and Kari in the bed to rest up.
"Tai, humans aren't supposed to be this color are they?" Gatomon asked as he came back into the room.
"It's such a lovely color, but it's a shame that it only signals sickness." Nekomon sighed.
"I've seen Dai with it before and it made me worry. She told me that her and Kari got sick all the time, but I thought they got better." V-Mon said.
"Well?" Sora asked.
"I'm afraid to leave in case something happens, but they need medicine." Tai said.
"They are stable, I think. All we can do now is hope their fevers break soon." Sora said.
"It will. Least I know they're in good hands with you." Tai said making her smile at him.
"Don't worry, just be careful." Sora said.
"Listen, Tai, I wanna come with you. I won't get in the way, honest." TK said.
"No way, you're my last line of defense. What if the Dark Masters come, huh? I need you to look after the others." Tai said.
"You can count on me. Don't worry, I'm on the job." TK said determined.
"Yeah, leave it to us." Patamon said.
"I knew I could count on you guys." Tai smiled with a nod.
He, Izzy, Tentomon and Agumon left the mansion then, leaving the rest of us here.
Suddenly, a vision came and it made me moan as it came, different machinelike digimon walking around the city.
"No…" I moaned.
"Dai?" Sora asked.
The digimon were Mekanorimon, Tankmon and Megadramon and they were all at a hospital attacking the duos of Courage and Knowledge.
"What's wrong with her?" TK asked.
"It must be a vision." Nekomon said.
"She's been getting them way too much today." V-Mon said.
"The Crest of Miracles is connected with all the others so it allows her to look over their Keepers. Now that we're split up, the Crest of allowing her see what is happening to the others." Nekomon explained.
Opening my eyes, I looked over to the window to see TK was there staring out at it and I'm pretty sure he saw Gigadramon and Megadramon flying around.
"We need to get out of here." TK said turning to us.
"Why?" Sora asked.
"There are these two digimon coming our way right now." The child of Hope said.
"Oh, great. We need to make a break for it and fast." Sora said.
Sora then picked Kari up, V-Mon carrying me on his back, then we all made a break for it just in time as one of those snake bodied dragon's fired off a missile at the mansion and blew it up.
We hid behind some bushes as we saw Tai and the others were staring at the mansion in horror and a missile was heading right towards them, so Patamon quickly digivolved into Angemon and countered the missile with his own attack making Tai, Agumon, Izzy and Tentomon turn to the angel.
"Angemon." Agumon smiled.
"But that means…" Izzy trailed off.
TK then poked his head out of the bushes to smile at them.
"Hey, what's up? You look tired." TK said.
"TK." Tai exclaimed happily.
"Biyomon." Agumon greeted as the pink bird poked her head out of the bush.
"And the others." Tentomon said as Gatomon, V-Mon and Nekomon poked their heads out as well while Sora stood up with me and Kari in her arms.
"Kari, Dai. You're OK." Tai smiled as he ran over to us with the large bottle of pills in his hand.
"You look than OK." Izzy said.
"We thought we'd better get out." Sora said.
"And I led the way. I took care of 'em like ya said." TK stated proudly.
"I never doubted you." Tai smiled.
The good mood was ruined by a laser blasting near us, reminding everyone of the danger that we were still in as they turned to see the Master of Metal had arrived to take care of us himself.
"Machinedramon!" Agumon gasped.
"You can't rely on scrap metal if you want the job done right." Machinedramon said.
"Take cover everybody!" Tai yelled as everyone started running into the building that was right behind us.
"That's right, scurry away." Was the last thing I heard Machinedramon say.
The building was then blasted at, making the floor fall apart as we all fell down screaming, getting separated from the others yet again.
I felt Kari grab a hold of me and held me close as we fell.
"Help us, Taichi!" she called out to our brother.
"Hikari, Daisuke!" Tai called.
We all continued to fall and then everything went black.
