"The Crest of Friendship"

WarGreymon and UlforceVeedramon started fighting with Piedmon, the clown dodging the blows that were sent his way as everyone watched.
UlforceVeedramon managed to punch him in the face as WarGreymon kicked Piedmon in the stomach and sent him into the side of a hill.
"I think we've won." Tai smiled.
Piedmon then laughed that mocking laugh that annoyed me.
"Thank you for the sparring match, WarGreymon and UlforceVeedramon, now I'm ready for the main event." Piedmon smirked as the dust cleared.
"Oh no." Tai gasped.
"Watch it guys!" I called as Piedmon jumped down to the ground.
"Once upon a time there were these Digidestinds and then Piedmon destroyed them all, the end." He said.
"No offence to your story telling skills, but I'd like it better if your ending were different." Izzy said.
"It will be." WarGreymon said.
"We won't let it end that way." UlforceVeedramon hovered in the air.
"We can't win unless we're all together." Kari spoke worried.
"Where are they?" Tai groaned.
WarGreymon used his Terra Force, but Piedmon flipped out of the way of the attack.
"He's tough." Gatomon said.
"We should all fight." Kari said.
"Everyone stay where you are." Tai held his arm out protectively.
"But Tai, why not?" Kari asked.
"Piedmon has more experience. UlforceVeedramon and WarGreymon are too new. They need all the help they can get." Kaitoumon said.
"The digimon are still too tired from their fight against LadyDevimon. We need to wait until we're at full strength when Matt and the others rejoin us." Tai looked back at us.
UlforceVeedramon was helping WarGreymon to stand after the beating Piedmon had given him.
"I hope it's soon." WarGreymon groaned.
Gasping, I saw a vision of Matt stuck in a cave being surrounded by a wave of darkness which made me worry over what was happening to him this time.
He looked so miserable and seemed to be drowning in a black lake until Gabumon bit him and they both spoke to each other.
The black mist then swirled away when they hugged which confused me about what happened between them as the black mist was deleted.
Suddenly, the cave disappeared as Joe and Gomamon came running over to Matt and Gabumon which made me feel relieved that the team was finally getting back together.
Piedmont using his Trump Sword snapped me out of that daze and I saw that WarGreymon as protected from the attack by UlforceVeedramon putting up his shield.
Sadly, the swords moved around in the air and attacked them both from behind.
"WarGreymon and UlforceVeedramon are exhausted." Izzy said.
"I can't watch anymore." Kari covered her hands over her eyes.
"Stay tough." Tai encouraged.
The two Megas kept getting slashed at by the swords making them weak, WarGreymon falling to his knees while UlforceVeedramon tried to shake it off as he lay on the ground.
He was still too weak from the battle with LadyDevimon, my poor boy.
"Please Izzy, let me help WarGreymon." Tentomon begged.
"I've got UlforceVeedramon's back." Kaitoumon stepped up.
"No." Tai said.
"They need help." Izzy insisted.
Piedmont laughed as he stepped closer to our digimon, both forcing themselves to stand up.
Gasping, another vision came to me as I saw Sora and TK, there was that same black mist that attacked Matt and it opened up and hole under Sora making her fall down as Biyomon chased after her.
As TK called for her, Matt and Joe came running to see what had happened, the two brothers hugging before TK started explaining what happened.
They all started climbing down the hole to where the Darkness had trapped Sora, going down the tunnel to where they found Sora trapped in that same depressed state that Matt was in.
Just what is up with this Darkness coming after everybody?
Joe and Matt tried to pull the child of Love up, but it didn't work since the Darkness was holding her down as it looked like she was drowning in that black ocean yet again.
They all started talking to her, trying to snap Sora out of it as it looked like Joe and Matt were also swimming into the ocean covered in light, reaching out to Sora and she reached out to them, taking their friends and smiled as the Darkness faded away.
Man, I hope we never have to deal with that dark ocean thing again or else this could cause too much trouble for us.
After helping Sora up, Biyomon rushed over to the girl and hugged her as the cave faded away again and the group were in the forest.
"Dai, wake up. This is no time to be sleeping." Gatomon's voice brought me out of the vision.
I shook my head and looked to see Kari and Gatomon looking at me worried while Izzy and Kaitoumon had a knowing look on their faces.
"What did you see this time?" Izzy asked.
"I saw Sora, TK, Matt and Joe. They're together but I don't know where Mimi is." I said holding a hand over my eyes.
Piedmont then used blasted air at the ground, large rocks picking up and heading straight towards Tai, but WarGreymon stepped in the way to take on the attack himself, but the blast still sent Tai flying back.
"Tai!" I cried out.
"Get up, Tai!" Kari called.
"Hey, Tai!" Izzy said as he started running over.
Tai groaned as he pushed himself up into a kneeling position, then looked over to Izzy.
"Izzy, stop!" Tai called over making the child of Knowledge pause in his step.
"You stay there. Protect Kari and Dai." He said.
The evil clown threw another boulder, it hitting WarGreymon and the blast of the wind sent Tai flying back as UlforceVeedramon growled.
"I really, really hate clowns." He growled in annoyance.
"Tai, look, I know it's important for me to stay here and protect your sisters, but in the meantime, whose gonna protect you?" Izzy asked.
"He tends to be a bit stubborn, doesn't he?" Tentomon commented.
"No duh." Kaitoumon crossed his arms and scoffed.
"Don't worry about me. I'm fine. I've got him right where I want him. He's exhausted." Tai panted as he pushed himself up.
"But we can help you." Izzy insisted.
"I'm fine." Tai held his fist up trying to be determined.
"That's funny, general Custard said the same thing at Little, Big Horn." Izzy quipped.
What the heck did he just say?
"Thanks for the history lesson." Tai groaned.
"All right then, just one thing; how come every time I ask you never let me join in the fight?" Izzy demanded looking annoyed.
I don't blame him, he just wants to help, but he was being denied each time he tried to do something.
Piedmont then used Clown Trick, sending out a blast of white crackling lights at WarGreymon, but UlforceVeedramon swooped in and held up his shield to stop the attack, only to get thrown back by it and reverted back into a tiny blue head with a tail on top.
"Oh no!" Kari gasped.
"What happened to him?" Tai asked.
"He reverted back to his baby form, Chibomon." Kaitoumon explained.
"Oh no, V!" I cried and started running over.
"Dai!" Kari called as she tried to grab me, but missed.
"Princess, get your butt back here!" Kaitoumon yelled.
I ignored them as I focussed on Chibomon, my poor little boy looking so worn out that I just had to get to him before he was hurt even worst than he already was.
"Yes child of Miracles, come running to the slaughter." Piedmont laughed as he threw a sword at me.
Everyone gasped as I stopped, the sword getting closer to me as I stared at it in horror, my last wish being that nothing bad happened to Chibomon, my siblings and friends, both human and digimon.
"DAI!" Kari and Tai cried out.
As the sword came closer, a streak of gold shot in front of me making my eyes widen as I saw someone I hadn't seen in a while standing in front of me, the sword right through his stomach.
Groaning in pain as he fell to his knees, my eyes filled with tears.
"Magnamon!" I screamed as tears fell down my face.
Magnamon turned his head to me, his eyes having a sad look in them as his hand clutched his stomach.
"Another Royal Knight?" Piedmon asked.
Kaitoumon grabbed Chibomon and flew over to me, my little guy awaken as he stared at Magnamon sadly.
"Why did you do it? Why did you take that?" I sobbed.
"I couldn't let you die. You're too young and pure. Evil needs to be destroyed and the nine of you need to be together to do it. My sacrifice was necessary." Magnamon grunted.
"Who is this guy and how do Chibomon and Dai know them?" Kari asked.
"Magnamon was the one protecting the Crest of Miracles. He must have given it to Daisuke." Andromon explained.
I was hugging Magnamon's arm as I felt the warm gold slowly turning cold, sobbing as I knew he was going to die.
"No more tears. You'll see me again one day. I promise. Good bye my friends." Magnamon said.
Looking up into his red eyes that had a kind smile in them, he then exploded into data which made me cry harder.
Why did this have to happen?
We only just met him again and now he's gone forever, this just wasn't fair.
"Oh, how sad. A brave Knight rescues his Princess only to meet his end. Why don't you join him?" Piedmon mocked.
Before he attacked, Kaitoumon grabbed me and flew off to safety as WarGreymon charged at Piedmon, punching him in the face.
As I'm set down, I hold Chibomon close to my chest as we both cry over our friends' death, Kari and Gatomon flanking me as they stared down at us sadly.
Piedmon then kicks WarGreymon away and send out his Clown Trick at the dinosaur, damaging him even more than he already was, parts of his armour breaking off.
"WarGreymon's been hit!" Kari gasped.
Time seemed to slow down as WarGreymon fell to the ground, beaten badly as Tai held a hand out helplessly towards him.
"No…WarGreymon…" Tai gasped and then fell.
"Get up!" Izzy yelled at him, putting emphasis on the words.
"Right, now who should be next?" Piedmon asked as he looked over at us.
Kari pulled me into her side as Gatomon, Kaitoumon, Izzy and Tentomon stood in front of us protectively as we waited for him to strike and I prayed for a miracle to happen.
"Tai, where are you?" someone called, their voice echoing.
Wait, I know that voice…
Looking over and seeing that Tai was doing the same, I was relieved to see a familiar blue wolf running our way with the child of Friendship on his back.
"Hold on, buddy, we're coming." Matt called with Joe and Gomamon behind him.
Birdramon then flew in overhead with Sora, TK and Patamon.
"Tai, it's us, we're almost there." Sora called down to us.
Growling in annoyance, Piedmon jumped up onto a boulder and smirked at us.
"Once upon they were Digidestind, now they are sitting ducks waiting for me to take target practice." He said.
Matt jumped down off of Garurumon and ran over to Tai while the wolf looked down sadly at WarGreymon.
"Tai." Matt exclaimed as he pulled the child of Courage into his arms.
"Matt, you made it. I can't believe you're here." Tai smiled.
"Yeah, I made it Tai. Hang in there, buddy." Matt said as Sora and TK ran over to them.
"I never doubted you for a second, Matt. I know it didn't always seem that way." Tai said as Matt had tears in his eyes.
"Thank you Tai for believing in me. I'm just sorry I was so late. Tai, you have to know how much our friendship has always meant to me and I swear, nothing will ever come between again." Matt swore.
Just then, I felt more than saw his Crest begin to act up as it gave off a bright blue light that had us all staring in awe.
Garurumons tepped over to WarGreymon and rubbed his head again the dinosaur, the two being covered in that same light as well.
WarGreymon stood as he was healed from the light making us all smile happily at this, the power of Friendship making me feel better from losing a friend even if I hadn't known him long.
"WarGreymon." Tai exclaimed in amazement.
"Now what?" Piedmon frowned.
"Matt, your Crest of Friendship gave me strength and brought WarGreymon back to normal." Garurumon explained.
"Thank you Garurumon. Now I can fight again." WarGreymon turned back to his friend.
"Hey, what about me? I wanna fight too." Chibomon cried as he forced himself out of my arms making me stand and chase after him as he bounced over to the Champion and Mega.
Matt band Tai both reached out, grabbing me before I could pass them and get to Chibomon.
Garurumon then reverted back to Gabumon.
"Are you sure? You look pretty worn out to me." Gabumon said to Chibomon.
"Yeah, so? I'm not gonna let that stop me from fighting." Chibomon insisted.
"Go back to Dai. You need more rest. We'll be fine on our own for now." Gabumon said.
"Yeah, you can join in after you're back to normal." WarGreymon said.
"Oh, fine. Make that twisted clown pay for killing Magnamon and making Dai cry." Chibomon glared.
Gabumon and WarGreymon both nodded at this as Chibomon bounced back over to me and jumped into my arms which made me smile as I held his close.
"Come on guys, get out of there!" Izzy yelled as he waved his arms at us.
TK and I carried Patamon and Chibomon as we started running with Sora, Biyomon and Gomamon while Joe and Matt both helped Tai run to safety.
"Tai, are you OK?" Joe asked.
"I think so." Tai panted.
"My first thought was to destroy you all together in one nice little package. But now I believe I'd rather do it individually as to prolong your suffering a little longer." Piedmon said.
"You sure talk a lot for a clown." Matt retorted.
Piedmon then used his Trump Sword.
"Gabumon warp digivolve to…METALGARURUMON!"
"Now he'll see what we're made of." Kari smiled as TK laughed cheerfully.
Combining their attacks, MetalGarurumon and WarGreymon sent them off at the swords, destroying them with ease.
"They were able to break Piedmon's attack. All right!" Joe cheered as Sora gave a big smile.
Piedmon jumped up to avoid the attack, then went back down to his spot as it faded away.
"Well, could it actually be the case that I finally found an adversary worth fighting?" he grinned.
