"Piedmon's Last Jest"
Sorry it took so long, but I'm gonna try to finish it before New Year's. Only two episodes left and I can start on the sequel 'Our War Game' and 'Hope and Miracles'! Please enjoy and review!
Once we were hidden behind the rocks, we all got ready to watch the battle as Chibomon sat on my head watching with anger in his eyes.
After all, his fellow Royal Knight had just been killed to save me and he wanted to avenge his friend.
"Now that we have two Mega digimon, let's destroy Piedmon once and for all." Tai said.
"Go get him, MetalGarurumon." Matt encouraged.
"Come on WarGreymon, take care of this clown." Tai called.
"So I'm a clown? Then I'll act like one! Clown Trick!" Piedmon created a ring of fire and sent it at the Megas.
"I'll get him." MetalGarurumon ran off.
"Try jumping through this hoop." Piedmon said as MetalGarurumon jumped through the fire ring, but it shrunk and tightened around the wolf.
He cried out in pain, then fell to the ground as WarGreymon ran over to him and the ring faded away.
"Are you OK?" WarGreymon asked.
"Why don't you join us? We're having a ball." Piedmon joked.
Underneath WarGreymon the ground shook and a large green and red ball appeared making him slip as he tried to keep his balance on top of it.
"Sorry, did I make you lose your balance? Round and round you go. Where he'll land, nobody knows." Piedmon chuckled as WarGreymon fell off and landed on top of MetalGarurumon.
"He thinks this is just a big game." Izzy said.
"Well, I'm tired of playing around." Tai said.
"Let's not be hasty. He wants us to make a mistake." Matt informed.
"What's the matter? Don't want to play with Uncle Piedmon anymore?" he asked as he then pulled out his Trump Swords.
He then threw them at the two Megas, but they passed through them as if they were illusions.
"Hey, wait, some of those swords aren't real!" Tai gasped.
"WarGreymon, I'm picking up the real swords on my sensor. There's one to your right." MetalGarurumon announced.
"Cover me." WarGreymon said as he ran off and raised his arm to block the swords coming at him, the blades banging off of the armour.
Seeing Piedmon on top of a hill laughing at them, MetalGarurumon used his Metal Wolf Snout, blasting the beams at the swords being sent at him which was beginning to anger Piedmon.
"Looks like the jokes on you, Piedmon." MetalGarurumon said.
WarGreymon then used his Terra Force and threw the large ball of fire at Piedmon, blasting him back and I felt excitement as Chibomon bounced on my head while Kaitoumon smiled.
"All right, nice shot. Izzy, have everyone digivolve and attack." Tai called.
"You heard him, guys. Now it's our turn." Izzy said.
"I'm in." Tentomon flew up beside him.
"Me too." Gomamon perked his head up over the rocks eagerly.
"Caution." Andromon warned.
To our surprise, Piedmon pulled out a white handkerchief.
"A white flag? Maybe he's trying to surrender to us." Joe said.
"Don't get your hopes up." Kaitoumon crossed his arms.
"I don't trust him. I think he's got another trick up his sleeve." Sora said as Piedmon hummed as he moved the cloth around.
"Hey, why don't you make yourself disappear?" Tai joked.
"Play time is over." WarGreymon said as he and MetalGarurumon ran at the clown.
"But I'm just getting started." Piedmon threw the cloth at them.
It grew and then covered the duo, purple electric currents shocking them as they gave muffled screams and then the cloth fell to the ground as if they disappeared.
"WarGreymon!" Tai cried out.
"MetalGarurumon!" Matt called.
They both ran over to check on their partners when suddenly Piedmon threw a cloth over them as well and the same thing happened to them.
"What happened?" Kari asked.
"I don't know." TK said.
"I have a bad feeling." I said.
"Ta-da! Thanks for coming; next show's at 7:30, you've been a great crowd, goodnight!" Piedmon pulled the cloths away.
"He made them all disappear!" Joe gasped.
Closing my eyes to find where they went, I saw that they were still in this area which confused me.
"Well at least he didn't saw them in half." Tentomon buzzed.
"What did you do to Tai and Matt, Piedmon?" Izzy demanded.
"And MetalGarurumon and WarGreymon." Chibomon glared.
"I hold the keys to their existence and I need a place to put them, so I made some key chains." Piedmon said.
He held up his hands and opened them to reveal that he had turned the duos of Courage and Friendship into key chains!
"I think I'll hang these two on my backpack." He joked about MetalGarurumon and WarGreymon.
"What kind of sicko turns people into key chains?" Sora gasped.
I'm guessing the insane clown type.
"I'm not a sicko, I'm a collector and these items have such sentimental value to me." Piedmon then cackled.
"Now who wants to be next?" he asked.
Kaitoumon then scooped me up and started flying off and everyone else started running away from the psycho who was cackling loudly as he wore the key chains around his waist.
"Into that cave!" Andromon instructed.
"Andromon!" Sora stopped and turned back to him.
"Don't worry, I'll hold him off." Andromon said as he used his Lightening Blade.
Piedmont stopped it with his swords and then they started fighting as we watched as Andromon seemed to be doing well with blocking the swords.
"We've gotta get out of here, Sora. Andromon's buying us more time." Joe said as he pulled the girl along with him since she refused to leave Andromon.
While running down the cave, Gatomon and Gomamon stopped when we came to what looked like some weird circus room, a huge hole between us and the other side while these rings to swing on were left as the only way across.
"What kind of place is this?" Tentomon asked.
"It looks like a giant circus tent." Sora said.
"Whatever it is, I don't like it. Hey, there's a way out across this canyon." Izzy said.
"My only question is how do we get to it?" Joe asked.
"You either swing or fly." Kaitoumon said as he flew across with Tentomon while Chibomon and I still in the hybrid's arms.
"Just swing across like a trapeze, but don't look down, there's no net." Tentomon advised.
"Kari, hold me tight and don't let go." Gatomon said as Kari held onto her as the cat made a jump for the rings and swung across the canyon.
I moaned in distress and covered my eyes, but peeked through my fingers to see jump over to us successfully.
"Not so easy to fly is it?" Tentomon asked.
TK then swung over next as Gatomon was on the other ring, holding herself up by her legs as she reached out with her hands to him and swung him over to us.
"What do you carry in that backpack, bricks?" she huffed as Patamon flew over and TK was with us.
Sora went next, Biyomon clinging to her shoulders as Gatomon swung them over to us.
"Ow! Gatomon, you gotta trim your claws." Sora commented.
Chibomon was over in the corner and I walked over to see that he was eating these mushrooms that were growing down here.
"Chibomon, don't eat those. They might be bad." I said.
"I don't care. I need to get my strength back so I can protect you and save our friends. Magnamon died because I wasn't strong enough, so I need to get stronger. UlforceVeedramon was rumored to be the strongest of the Royal Knights and I failed to take out Piedmon. I need to get stronger to protect everyone." Chibomon said confidently.
My eyes shone sadly as I knew he was still upset over that and I couldn't make him stop if he was so deadest on it.
"Chibomon digivolve too…DEMIVEEMON!"
"See? It's working already." He chirped as he then continued to eat.
Oh, my poor, sweet boy.
"Away you go!" Joe said as he and Izzy threw Gomamon over to Gatomon, the seal crying out before he was then caught.
"Don't you want to take your friend along?" Piedmon asked when Joe helped Izzy onto the ring.
"Andromon!" Joe cried when he saw Andromon had become a key chain.
"Go, Izzy!" Joe yelled as he pushed Izzy away while Piedmon threw the cloth over him, Izzy having tears in his eyes at the sacrifice.
"Joe!" he called as Gatomon reached for him, but the cloth hit him before she could.
"Don't worry, Izzy. I'll save you!" Tentomon cried as he flew over, but had the cloth thrown on him.
"Now you see them and now you don't. They're dropping like flies." Piedmon smirked as the cloths returned to him with our friends as key chains.
Those of us remaining ran off before we were hurt, me grabbing Demiveemon and running off with him when he suddenly digivolved into V-Mon and I nearly stumbled back from his growth, but kept running.
"Hey, I'm supposed to be protecting you." V-Mon protested.
"Protect me when I'm done running." I panted as he clung to my neck and his tail wrapped around me.
"Stop arguing and keep running." Patamon said.
We came to a wooden room and we hid from Piedmon when we heard his footsteps getting closer to us, all of us whining in worry.
"Ah, so you want to play hide and go seek, hmm? OK, I love a good game." Piedmon laughed gleefully.
"Now, let's see. If I were a little pest, where would I hide, hmm? Maybe you're in this room over here." He said.
We were hiding under the floor, hoping he would figure out our hiding spot.
"I think we're out of danger for now." Sora whispered.
Something then broke through the floor right between us making us yell and move away.
"What is wrong with you?! You never talk when we're hiding from the evil psychopaths! You're just as dumb as that goggle head!" Kaitoumon ranted.
"Peek-a boo!" Piedmon laughed as he kept stabbing his swords down around us as we ran.
"Run for it!" Sora yelled as she helped Kari up.
As we ran, the digimon then digivolved and Angewomon used her Celestial Arrow to knock the sword out of Piedmon's hands.
"Run, Kari." Angewomon said.
"Hurry, Sora." Garudamon said.
"Get a move on, Princess." Kaitoumon said.
"It's Angewomon!" Kari smiled.
"Garudamon!" Sora smiled.
Garudamon used Wing Blade on Piedmon, but he dodged it, so she went to step on him, only for her foot to go through the floor while a cloth was thrown on her.
Angewomon had the swords pin her wings back as a cloth was thrown over her while Kaitoumon used his wings to block the swords, only to have the cloth thrown over him.
We all watched from our escape route, up away from Piedmon.
"TK, come here." Sora said.
"What is it?" TK asked walking over.
"I want you to take Kari and Dai and get out of here." Sora said sternly.
"But what about you?" TK asked worried.
"Listen to me, there isn't much time. Piedmont has the rest of our friends and if he gets us, we're doomed. TK, please, you're the only one who can protect the girls." Sora said.
"Hey!" V-Mon protested.
"You have to be brave, now get going." Sora said ignoring V-Mon.
"I can't leave you." TK said.
"Don't worry about me. I'll be fine." Sora said placing her hands on his shoulders.
"All right." TK looked down sadly.
"No matter what happens, just keep running." She said.
"OK Sora, I promise I'll do whatever I can to protect Kari and Dai." TK said determined.
"Hurry! Go!" Sora pushed him.
"Come on girls, let's go." TK said as we started running, Kari and I looking at Sora sadly.
As we ran, we heard destruction and heard yelling so we stopped and turned to see Gomamon grab something from Piedmon and toss it to Sora who then threw it to TK as the cloth covered her.
TK then came back up the steps with Kari and I and helped us push the large metal doors open to escape, but they were too heavy.
"In order to succeed, sometimes you have to step on people along the way." Piedmon laughed with his foot on top of Gomamon.
After pushing, we were finally able to push the doors opened.
"Quick, let's run!" TK cried as we ran through the doors.
"We just ran out of room." Kari moaned as we looked around the room with all the empty space around us.
"This isn't the escape plan I had in mind." TK said.
"That way." Patamon leaned over the edge of the rail.
"Can we jump?" TK asked as we all looked over at the steep drop.
"It's too far." Kari cried.
"Great, we're either gonna die or become key chains forever." I groaned.
"We can't just sit here." Kari said.
"We've got no choice. We have to climb down." TK leaned over.
"It's too high, TK. If we slip, we're goners." Kari said.
"Kari, we're gonna have to try." He said.
"Look TK, where'd that basket come from?" Patamon asked.
We turned to the basket as we ran over to it.
"Who put that there?" V-Mon asked.
TK lifted the cover off and revealed rope inside of it.
"A rope. We can use it to climb down the side of the mountain." TK said we all smiled.
Suddenly, the rope then began to lift up by itself and shot up right into the sky.
"I didn't know you were a snake charmer, TK. Do you think we should climb it?" Patamon asked.
"I don't know. Mom always said never take candy or rope from strangers." TK said.
"I really don't care. Let's go." I said running up to the rope.
"Dai, wait up!" Kari said.
"Looks dangerous, you go first." TK said.
Tch, what a gentleman; note the sarcasm there.
Kari started to climb the rope and then I followed after her as TK watched us, then V-Mon followed me.
"That's it, girls. Pretend you're in gym class." TK encouraged as he followed.
There was then an explosion and we yelled as we saw the doors had been destroyed by Piedmon who looked up to us.
"Keep climbing, I'll distract him." Patamon flew down.
"Patamon digivolve too…ANGEMON!"
Angemon and Piedmon clashed swords and staff as they fought and the angel was able to jab Piedmon in the head and knock him back.
"Go get him, Angemon." TK smiled.
"Yeah, knock his make-up off." V-Mon joked.
Angemon used Hand of Fate, but Piedmon stopped it with Clown Trick and blasted him back.
"Angemon, no!" Kari cried.
"Come on, he isn't half the mon you are!" I called.
Getting back up, Angemon went to face Piedmon but he was hit with both Clown Trick and Trump Sword, feathers flying.
"Don't give up!" TK called.
Sadly, he kept falling and hit the ground, dropping his staff.
"Angemon, no!" TK had tears streaming down his face.
"I'm scared." Kari said.
"Who isn't?" I whimpered.
"It's OK." TK called up to us as he dried off his tears.
"Angemon will be fine, but you've got to keep on climbing. Don't let that joker Piedmon scare you." he said bravely.
"OK." Kari said as she lifted her hand to keep moving.
Just as she did so, a sword was throw and it cut the rope making her scream and I felt my heart stop since she was almost hit.
"You've reached the end of your rope." Piedmon laughed.
"That's it. No one messes with these kids and gets away with it." V-Mon said as he jumped off.
"V, no!" I yelled.
"V-Mon digivolve too…XV-MON!"
XV-Mon then flew at Peidmon using his V Laser, blasting the clown back, but he laughed as he threw his swords at my dragon who took to the air quickly before he was then covered with a sheet.
"NO!" I yelled as tears sprung to my eyes.
"Keep moving!" TK yelled.
"Move where?" Kari asked.
Piedmon then climbed up on the rope and grabbed TK's foot.
"Sorry if I gave you a wedgy." He joked.
"Let him go you freak!" I yelled as I reached down and grabbed TK's hand.
Piedmon gave a tug making me lose grip on the rope, but Kari reached door and took my hand.
"Let go of them!" Kari yelled.
"Let go, Kari, Dai. He'll get you too." TK called up to us.
"No way am I doing that." I snapped.
"Me either. We're not leaving you." Kari spoke sternly.
"Looks like you two are falling for him." Piedmon joked as he cut the rope under TK, making us all fall.
"TK! Kari! Dai!" Angemon yelled in worry.
The three of us screamed as we fell to our supposed deaths and everything we've been through flashed across my mind, especially the looks on my parents' faces when they said goodbye to Tai, Kari and I when we left to save the worlds.
During the fall my grip on TK's arm loosened making him look down at me with his worry in his azure eyes and my hand lost its grip on his arm, Kari and I started falling faster than him and we clung to each other as we went.
Suddenly, I felt my Crest vibrate and I felt a huge amount of…hope fill me.
Wait a minute…
Opening my eyes and looking up, I found TK's Crest was finally glowing brightly and the yellow light covered Angemon.
"Angemon digivolve too…MAGNAANGEMON!"
MagnaAngemon flew up and caught Kari and I, then TK who fell into his arms.
"Angemon, I knew you could digivolve." TK smiled up at him.
"Nice save." I said.
"You're the best." Kari complimented.
He smiled down at us as he then flew us to a safe spot and set us down, the three of us giggling.
"I am MagnaAngemon. I have eight shining wings and a beam shield. I wiled the mighty sword Excalibur and my devastating attack is the Gate of Destiny." He said.
"Chew on this." Piedmon threw a cloth at him.
"I'm not hungry." MagnaAngemon said as he sliced the cloth, then he cut free the key chains.
"I guess my sword trumps yours." He joked as he held the key chains.
Piedmont yelled as he went falling down and then MagnaAngemon set down the key chains as we ran over to them.
"Now to bring our friends back to normal. Magna Antidote!" his wings glowed in rainbow colors and the beams changed our friends and brothers back to normal.
"Wow, what a weird dream. I had an incredible urge to carry some keys." Tai said.
TK, Kari and I ran at our brothers who picked us up, hugging us.
"You did a great job, TK." Matt smiled.
"If it wasn't for your advice, I don't think I ever would've been able to do it." TK smiled while Matt looked confused.
"When did Angemon digivolve? You look great. Turn around, let me see." Tentomon flew over.
"Very well." MagnaAngemon said as he turned.
"Nice new look. Wait, everyone can reach Ultimate level except me. That sucks." Kaitoumon complained.
"You're not partnered to a Digidestind." Angewomon reminded making Kaitoumon pout and XV-Mon chuckle.
Evil laughter was heard as a swarm of these bat like creatures flew over with Piedmon smirking as he followed behind them.
"Digidestind, meet the Vilemon. Their Nightmare Shock will give you a rude awakening." Piedmon said.
"We're surrounded." Joe said.
"Oh no. we can't escape." Izzy said.
"Come on, toughen up." TK called.
"I'm with you, TK." Matt said.
"Our only chance is if we all combine our powers together, but the problem is we're still missing some of our friends." Tai said.
"Wait for me!" a familiar voice called.
Looking over, we found it was Mimi who was coming over with Lillymon and our other digimon friends, including Ogremon.
"Sorry we're late." The child of Sincerity said on Unimon's back.
"It's Mimi." Sora smiled.
"Is it too late for the party?" Lillymon asked.
"Again, we apologize for our tardiness." Wizardmon said as he flew in beside her.
"Hey, look who's back to full strength." Kaitoumon smiled.
"Get out of the way!" Ogremon cried as he used his club to beat back some Vilemon.
"I swiped, I guess I have to work on my swing." He joked.
"All right gang; show them the full digimon attack!" Tai called.
All the digimon then charged off, taking out Vilemon left and right.
"Right shot!" Sora and Mimi smiled as they clasped hands.
More Vilemon were taken out, some were starting to run for cover as we watched them go.
"Gomamon digivolve too…IKKAKUMON! Ikkakumon digivolve too…ZUDOMON!"
"Tentomon digivolve too…KABUTERIMON! Kabuterimon digivolve too…MEGAKABUTERIMON!"
The two other Ultimates helped take out the Vilemon.
"Most impressive." Piedmon sneered as he used his Trump Sword, but MegaKabuterimon used his Horn Buster to take them out making us cheer.
Lillymon used her Flower Cannon, but piedmont blocked the attack and threw a cloth at her, but Angewomon took it out with her Celestial Arrow.
Garudamon then used her Wing Blade, hitting Piedmon and sending him back while finally MagnaAngemon used his Gate of Destiny that opened up and sucked the Vilemon inside while we all stared in awe.
"Hey, remember us?" WarGreymon asked.
XV-Mon then reverted back to V-Mon and then looked back at me, smiling.
"Time to take him out." He smiled at me.
"Right." I nodded.
"V-Mon warp digivolve too…ULFORCEVEEDRAMON!"
He flew over to Piedmon who tried to run, but UlforceVeedramon kicked him back as WarGreymon used his Terra Force, MetalGarurumon used Giga Missile and finally UlforceVeedramon used his Dragon Impulse X, blasting Piedmon right into the Gate of Destiny that closed up and then disappeared.
Then, gold dust floated down on the mountain as rainbow colored lights glowed around us as we stared in awe.
"The last remnants of Spiral Mountain are disappearing. The Dark Masters' control over the Digital World is finally gone." Izzy said.
"Good riddance." Tai smiled as the sky turned blue.
With the battle done, our digimon friends all said goodbye to us and started to leave.
"You know, I'm starting to think we have a strange looking group of friends." Tai said.
"They might not have the best fashion sense, but they're the best friends we've ever had." Mimi said.
"We have e-mail from Gennai." Izzy said as he checked his laptop.
"What does it say, Izzy?" Sora asked.
"Not now, I need a nap." Tai had his arms crossed behind his head.
"It's coming in now." Izzy said.
"Is he congratulating us?" Tai asked.
"It says here that the Dark Masters aren't the real enemy." Izzy read.
That made us all look at him in stunned shock, some of us seeming to go into shock from the news.
"It says here that the real enemy is an evil force whose very existence warped the Digital World and created the Dark Masters. So according to this, I don't think we're out of the woods quite yet." Izzy looked up nervously.
"Wait a sec. If it's not the Dark Masters, then who do we fight next?" Tai asked.
The ground then began to quake as everyone cried out when the earth began to open up and red beams of light shot from the Dark Masters' base.
"What's happening?" Mimi cried.
I'm not sure what, but I can sense this dark energy is coming and its making me sick to my stomach and looking over to Kari when she took my hand, I knew she felt the same way.
We're either gonna save the world or die now.
The question is; which will it be?
