"Now Apocalymon"
Almost done! Please enjoy and review!
"Spiral Mountain is disintegrating. Watch out!" Tai called.
As soon as the mountain came apart, we all fell down into this dark void, crying out as we went and Kari's grip on my hand tightened.
Our digimon called our names as they came after us, but suddenly we stopped falling and just seemed to levitate as our digimon came over to us.
"Are we down?" Joe whimpered.
"Tai, are you all right?" WarGreymon asked.
"Yeah." Tai said.
"Uh, this may be a stupid question, but how come we're not still falling?" Izzy asked.
"Does it matter?" Kaitoumon asked.
"If this is the works of the great evil, then yes." Wizardmon said as Izzy took out his laptop.
"Greetings. I hope nobody needed a barf bag on the way down." Gennai said as his image was on the screen, but it was becoming static every few seconds.
"It's Gennai." Izzy called as we all gathered around.
"So you're the one that brought us down here." Tai accused.
"What do you want? We already beat the Dark Masters." Matt glared.
"It's true that the evil of the Dark Masters were destroyed, but the source that created that evil still exists." Gennai informed making us exclaim in fear and disbelief.
"And that source came from the Wall of Fire." Gennai said.
"What's that?" Joe asked.
"When I was searching through the deeper ruins, I came across an inscription. It told of a time long ago when a strange being appeared from behind the Wall of Fire and was angry. You would be too if you lived in that kind of humidity. The mere existence of this being caused a warp in space and time was thrown completely out of whack. It threatened the collapse of the Digital World and worse than that, my new wrist watch stopped working." Gennai said.
Why does he make a joke during all these important situations!
"The digimon knew they didn't have the strength to defeat this being, but the original Digidestind children were summoned by the real world and together they defeated the evil." Gennai said making my jaw drop.
"What? Then you mean…" Tai trailed off.
"That there were other kids just like us before we came along?" Joe asked.
"And we were summoned because there was something else came out from behind that Wall of Fire, didn't it? Huh! And that's the real enemy." Sora said.
"That's correct, but unfortunately, that's just the good news. The bad news has also told of a great darkness that will blanket the whole Digital World." Gennai informed.
"A great darkness?" Matt asked.
"Don't look now, but its pretty dark." Joe said.
"So is this the enemy?" Tai asked.
"In a way, yes, but I believe he has a form as well. He's, a…Uh oh, looks like I'm out of quarters. Gotta go!" Gennai called as the screen had static on it.
"Wait Gennai! Come back!" Tai called.
"Next time I'll use a phone card, see ya." Gennai said.
"Gennai!" Tai yelled as the screen went black.
"Oh great, how does he expect us to fight this thing when we don't even know what it is we're looking for?" Tai asked.
"Just my luck. The second I start enjoying my vacation, another monster tries to destroy the world." Joe quipped.
"Sorry guys, but something tells me this isn't gonna be like any digimon we've ever run into." Izzy closed his laptop as Kari stared at him in worry.
"Yeah, so what?" Matt asked making us all look at him.
"The first Digidestind kids were able to defeat something like this. Well, then, so will we." He said.
"Matt's right. We'll just have to find a way to do it." Sora said as TK nodded.
"Does anyone hear that?" I asked as there was a frightening growl echoing around us.
Everyone looked around warily at the darkness, Kari hugging me close to her protectively, the bond between Light and Miracles calming us both.
"What's that noise?" Kari asked.
"It sounds like a moose." Mimi said.
"Sounds to me like its coming from every direction." Angewomon informed.
"Me too, but what does it mean?" Tai asked.
"I know who you are. You don't have the power to eliminate my sadness." A voice echoed around us.
"Whose there?" Joe asked.
Before us appeared some sort of cube with curved edges that was black and it had an overwhelming aura of evil radiating off of it.
"I'll bet this has something to do with that digimon Gennai was talking about." Izzy said.
"Either that or it's a giant cube puzzle." Tai said.
The cube then transformed in front of us, chains with blades on it sticking out and finally the top half of what looked to be some kind of demon was on the top.
"I am the ultimate evil. Complete with heart and cold running water." He said.
"What on earth is that thing?" Matt asked.
"I am Apocalymon. A mutant digimon. My Darkness Zone attack transforms my enemies into nothingness. I have the power to turn everything I touch into cold darkness." He said.
"Perhaps I will start with Earth." He laughed.
"Are you repulsed by my appearance? Don't be afraid to hurt my feelings. They're already hurt. You see, I was created from all that was lost during the digivolving process." Apocalymon explained.
"What do you mean by lost?" Izzy asked.
"Digimon have been digivolving for many years now, over and over again. But there were some who weren't up to the challenge and simply disappeared." Apocalymon said.
"That makes sense. Even on Earth, some species became extinct during the process of evolution. In fact, the Tasmanian tiger wolf was one of those-"
"Silence!" Apocalymon cut Izzy off.
"Who's the one telling this story anyway? Me or you?" he asked.
"All right, go ahead." Matt said.
"First I have a question to ask. Do you believe that I am worthy of co-existing with you?" Apocalymon asked.
All of us shared a look of surprise at the sudden question because we weren't expecting it at all.
"Is he serious?" Kaitoumon asked.
"I don't know. I've honestly stopped caring." UlforceVeedramon shook his head.
"Well, yeah, sure." Izzy said unsure.
"Oh, really? Even though I was created from the pain, sorrow and grief of all the ill-fated digimon attempting to digivolve?" Apocalymon asked.
"You're entirely made up of grief and sorrow? How sad for you." Sora sympathized.
"Oh, sure, rub it in. And now Digidestinds and digimon, I have been waiting an eternity for this encounter." Apocalymon said.
"What?" WarGreymon asked.
"What do you mean?" MetalGarurumon asked.
"As I sat alone in the cold, miserable darkness of my world, I watched all of you on the other side. Laughing and having fun in the light. Now it's my turn…to shine!" Apacolymon yelled.
Bright light shone from around him turning into electric currents, blasting all of us away from each other as we cried out in pain.
Once I stopped flying off, my body felt tingly and strange from being electrocuted.
"Is everybody OK?" Tai asked looking around.
"I think so." Matt confirmed.
"Yeah." Izzy said.
"I'm OK, Tai." Sora said softly.
"Not for long. Do you think it's fair that I should have to live with all this agony? Why should you get to laugh while I am forced to cry?" Apocalymon demanded making Sora look away sadly while Joe whimpered.
"Why do you get to taste the best life has to offer while all I do is choke on its leftovers?" he demanded making Kari, TK and I whine sadly.
"Answer this! Why do all of you get the pizza while I get the crusts?!" he yelled.
OK, all this loner time has driven him to insanity and it's getting very annoying.
"Oh, I can't take all these metaphors." Mimi covered her face.
"Boy, this guy knows how to hold a grudge." Izzy muttered.
"I will take hold of the world and plunge it into darkness so that I don't have to be alone anymore in my misery!" Apocalymon laughed in an insane way.
"Wait a minute, what am I laughing at? I'm supposed to be depressed. River of Power!" he said as one of his blades transformed into MetalSeadramon's head and it blasted at us.
"Kari!" Tai called since the blast was heading towards her.
Angewomon flew in and took the hit for Kari, protecting her as she took on the full blast of the attack as Kari cried out in worry.
"Angewomon, no!" she cried.
"That was MetalSeadramon with his classic River of Power. And now here's Myotismon with his number one hit; Crimson Lightning!" Apocalymon said.
Another blade transformed into Myotismon who used his attack that almost hit Mimi and she flinched away while Lillymon flew in and took on the attack, crying out in pain.
"Next, Machinedramon's Giga Cannon." Apocalymon said.
The next attack was sent towards Sora as Garudamon flew in and protected her from the attack by cupping the girl in her hands while the Ultimate was hit in the back.
"Inconceivable. He's using all the attacks of the digimon we've defeated in the past." Izzy gasped.
"You mean we have to fight them all over again? This is the worst recurring nightmare I've ever been awake for." Joe complained.
"Hey, we were able to beat them once." Sora pointed out as she pet Garudamon's head.
"Sora's right. We did beat them and we could do it again." Tai said.
"We just have to fight together as a team." TK said as Kari and Angewomon nodded.
"I agree. We've sacrificed too much to give up now." Matt said.
"You fools. You haven't even seen my true power yet. Reverse Digivolve!" Apocalymon yelled.
His blades then went over to our digimon, covering as our digimon pushed us back out of the line of danger.
"I'll make you see what it feels to be one step closer to extinction." He said.
All of the digimon were transformed back to their Rookie forms except for Gatomon making us all gasp.
"They're Rookies." Matt said.
"He changed them back so easily." TK said.
"I'm sorry, TK." Patamon said sadly as he flew over to him.
"It's not your fault, Patamon, it's him." TK said.
"I can't believe I'm back to my Rookie form." Nekomon whined as Candlemon sighed at him.
"What about me? I was recently a Fresh." V-Mon reminded.
"Great, this time we're finished." Kari frowned.
"You better lose that tude, Kari." Gatomon glared.
"Just because we're at the Rookie level doesn't mean we still can't fight." Gabumon said.
"We could digivolve if we had the energy." Tentomon reminded.
"That's it. Start from scratch. You can digivolve again." Joe said.
"We'd have to eat something." Gomamon said.
"Come to think of it, I am kind of hungry." Palmon spoke up.
"Forget food. We have the power within us." Agumon said.
"But we need your help." Gabumon said to us humans.
All of us grew determined as we nodded at that.
"Everybody get your Crests ready." Tai called.
"Death Claw!" Apocalymon yelled.
Devimon's hands then came out of one of his blades, going at us and grabbing for our Crests, ripping them from our necks as we all cried out at this.
Then, right before our eyes, he destroyed every single one of them, even my Crest.
"Our Crests and Tags." Tai gasped.
"He broke them all." TK said.
"They won't be able to digivolve without them." Sora cried.
"I hope you learned your lesson. Always save your receipts. The warranty was probably still good on those things." Apocalymon joked at our expense.
"This is usually the time when one of us comes up with a brilliant idea." Joe pointed out.
"I don't think it'll save us this time, Joe. I'm afraid we're done for." Mimi whimpered.
"How can we fight Apocalymon without digivolving?" she asked.
"There's no way. All the Rookie digimon combined couldn't defeat an enemy who has the power of all the evil digimon from the past." Izzy tugged at his hair in defeat.
"How can you be so sure?" Tai demanded.
"We have to try something. We can't just give up." I pointed out.
"That's right. There's got to be a way somehow." Tai said.
"How did the original Digidestind kids defeat this enemy?" Matt wondered.
"I'll take these children and use their fears to make them digital and disappear." Apocalymon laughed as his eyes glowed red.
Joe then screamed making us turn to see him breaking down into data which made us all cry out in fear and horror as we found it happening to us as well.
"What's this?" Matt asked.
"We're disintegrating. We're being broken down into little bits of digital information. Fascinating." Izzy said.
"Fascinating?!" Tai scoffed.
"Let's stay calm everyone. Down fall to pieces." Biyomon said as the digimon were being broken down too.
"Too late." Agumon said.
Everything then went black and I felt this strange void inside of me as I was transferred to a white area where there was just nothing around me except for numbers beeping around me.
I saw the others were there too, all looking confused and defeated from what happened as we all floated around in this white area.
"Where are we?" Tai asked.
"We're information now. This is where all digital information gathers. It's the world of data." Izzy explained.
"Data? I'm too young to be dating." Mimi said.
"It's not the same." Izzy groaned.
"Sometimes too much information's a bad thing." Joe said.
"Can we get back?" Kari asked.
"I don't know, Kari. Nothing like this has ever happened to us before. I don't know what to do." Sora said.
"So we're done?" I asked in disbelief.
"Is this it? Have we lost?" Tai asked.
"I'd say that's a pretty good conclusion." Matt said.
"Come on, you guys. Don't quit now." Agumon said.
"Why not?" Tai asked.
"We can't stop fighting now just because of a little setback." Gabumon pointed out.
"So what if we're bits of information, we have no Tags and Crests, we can't digivolve and we're facing the most powerful enemy of all time? I don't see what the problem is." Biyomon stated.
"Listen, Biyomon. You guys have a great attitude about this whole thing, but all of the positive thinking in the world can't guarantee that we'll find a way to get back to our original forms." Sora said.
"I tried positive thinking once, but once positive about one thing, I positively hated it." Joe tugged at his hair.
"Speaking scientifically, we're the first humans to be digitally processed. Technically we're pioneers like Mark Apolo." Izzy said.
"Oh, I know what he's famous for. Marco!" Tentomon called making me laugh.
"Polo!" Agumon called.
"Marco!" Tentomon called.
"Polo!" Patamon and V-Mon giggled.
"Marco!" Tentomon said again.
"Polo!" Biyomon and Palmon said.
"In every battle you're bound to face a number of unknowns." Gabumon said.
"Yeah, you didn't know how those other fights would turn out, but you fought them anyway, didn't you?" Gomamon reminded.
"Yeah, that's right. We did fight. When I first got to the Digital World, I was afraid of any little thing that moved. We faced all kinds of new monsters." Joe said.
"But no matter who they threw at us, we always found the strength to beat the enemy, regardless of how big it was, didn't we Joe?" Gomamon smiled.
"You're right, we did. We worked together as a team. Even that time when we almost lost TK because he couldn't swim. Of course, I forgot that I couldn't swim either." Joe smiled.
"I remember times when all I wanted to do was break down and cry." Mimi spoke up.
"But instead you fought on with your new friends." Palmon smiled as Mimi nodded.
"I feel like I've become a stronger person since I met all of you. Like that time at the convention center when all those Bakemon were attacking. I didn't cry a single drop. All right, maybe just one drop." Mimi smiled.
"Before I met you, TK, I didn't think mattered if I ever digivolved or not, but when Devimon went to grab you and got me, I knew it was my time to shine. I became Angemon for the first time and I've been flying high ever since." Patamon chirped.
"I learned something from you too, Patamon. I learned that sometimes you have to fight for what you believe in." TK smiled.
"I want you to know, you've changed my life in many ways too, Sora." Biyomon said.
"Really?" Sora asked happily.
"Of course you have. After all, I've never had a best friend before. I would do anything for you like that time I took Myotismon's Crimson Lightning attack right in the chest. Talk about heartburn." Biyomon joked.
"You know Izzy, when I first met you, I thought you were just one of those computer geeks, but after I got to know you, I realized, you are one of those computer geeks and I'm glad you are because where would the rest of us be without you?" Tentomon praised.
"Thanks pal." Izzy smiled.
"I promised myself I wouldn't cry. Although, wanted to cry when I felt that asteroid belt tightening around my waist, but you and I took out Vadermon together." Tentomon sniffled.
"As for you, Matt…" Gabumon said.
"You don't have to say anything. I know." Matt smiled.
"There was that time when…" Gabumon was cut off.
"That's right, I remember." Matt said.
"Then you and I…"
"I know."
"Remember when we…"
"Didn't you hear me? I said you didn't have to say anything." Matt smiled at him.
"You and I knew from the beginning that together we made an invincible team, right, Tai?" Agumon smiled.
"You got that right. Of course I probably could've taken care of Etemon without you, but it was nice having you around. And you did get me out of a few jams." Tai joked.
"Dai, you're the most special person I've ever met. You never let me go out to fight alone and we both protect each other." V-Mon smiled at me.
"Well, we are an awesome team." I said.
"Yeah, but every time I get hurt, you always run over to help me and when you cry, I feel what's inside of your heart and it's really pure and good and it makes me strong enough to fight back." V-Mon said.
Tears prickled at my eyes as I smiled at him.
"I can see what's in your heart too, V, and it's golden." I said making him giggle.
"We can't give up now, because if we do, what was the whole point of searching for Kari in the first place?' Gatomon asked.
"Gatomon." Kari smiled.
"I've waited my whole life to meet you and find my purpose and that is to protect you no matter what the cost. Whether that meant facing Myotismon's Grizzly Wing attack or facing the reality of almost losing Wizardmon and Kaitoumon. You know I will always be there for you." Gatomon smiled.
"Nekomon, you're crying." Candlemon pointed out to the black cat.
"I'm just overly emotional. I love you guys. Aside from Gatomon and Candlemon, you're the only true friends I've ever had and you accepted me even after I attacked you all." Nekomon sniffled.
"Boy, if I had never met you, Gatomon…" Kari trailed. Off.
"And I had never come to the Digital World…" Joe trailed off.
"And if none of us became friends in the first place…" Mimi smiled.
"Then we wouldn't have become the people that we are today." Izzy said.
"You're right and we never would've won all those battles without each other." Matt said.
"I feel like I've grown up a lot." TK said.
"I think we've all grown up in a lot of ways." Sora smiled.
"I've grown up too. I'm a much better fighter now." Tai said.
"I don't think I can imagine my life without all of you in it." I smiled.
"I don't know about you, but I'm not ready to quit yet." Tai held a fist up determined.
"I'm with you, Tai. I won't let this whole experience ne for nothing." Sora said.
"Me neither. There is no way I'm about to let my friends down." Matt said.
"And besides, there is still a lot of people counting on us down on Earth." Izzy reminded.
"Let's find a way." Mimi said confidently.
"Let's fight." Matt said.
"We're ready." TK said.
"We've reached the point where there's no turning back." Joe said.
"Crests or no Crests, we're going to win." Kari said.
"No matter what." I said as TK and Kari took hold of my hands.
We all stood together, the three of us younger one sin the middle of the group as the others were off to the sides, each one of us determined to fight and win.
"Are we together?" Mimi asked.
"Then let's fight." TK said.
"It's gonna be pretty tough without our Crests." Joe said.
"Crests? We don't need no stinking Crests." Kari said.
"Yeah, we're already strong together." I said as we smiled at each other.
Just then, I felt everyone's hearts connect and looked down to see the mark of my Crest of Miracles glowing on my chest while the same was happening to everyone else.
"What? My heart!" TK gasped.
"It's your Crests. You don't need to carry them anymore because their power has been inside of you this whole time." Agumon said.
"You mean like in our hearts?" Tai asked.
"Prodigious. That makes perfect sense. Just like my knowledge and Joe's sense of responsibly. If your special traits are within you, then you don't need your Crests because the specialty will be inside you as well." Izzy explained.
"You're wrong. It wasn't the friendship inside of me that made my Crest glow, Izzy. It was more than that. It was the friendship I felt from all of you gathered inside my heart and that brought the power of my Crest to life." Matt explained happily.
"Actually, every time your Crests glowed, I've felt it, so Matt's right." I said.
"So each persons' Crest isn't powered by themselves, it's powered by the faith we have in each other." Tai said.
"The Light inside of me is for everyone." Kari said as her Crest glowed pink.
"Gatomon digivolve too…ANGEWOMON!"
"And everyone's Hope is my Hope." TK's Crest glowed yellow.
"Patamon digivolve too…ANGEMON! Angemon digivolve too…MAGNAANGEMON!"
"Knowledge." Izzy said as his Crest glowed purple.
"Tentomon digivolve too…KABUTERIMON! Kabuterimon digivolve too…MEGAKABUTERIMON!"
"Sincerity." Mimi's Crest glowed bright green.
"Palmon digivolve too…TOGEMON! Togemon digivolve too…LILLYMON!"
"Reliability." Joe's Crest glowed silver.
"Gomamon digivolve too…IKKAKUMON!" Ikkakumon digivolve too…ZUDOMON!"
"Mine's Love." Sora smiled as her Crest glowed red.
"Biyomon digivolve too…BIRDRAMON! Birdramon digivolve too…GARUDAMON!"
"Friendship." Matt's Crest glowed light blue.
"Gabumon warp digivolve too…METALGARURUMON!"
"Courage." Tai said as his Crest glowed bright orange.
"Agumon warp digivolve too…WARGREYMON!"
"Last but not least, Miracles." I smiled as my Crest glowed gold.
"V-Mon warp digivolve too…ULFORCEVEEDRAMON!"
"Candlemon digivolve too…WIZARDMON!"
"Nekomon digivolve too…KAITOUMON!"
Then, all of us returned to the dark world where Apocalymon was and he seemed very surprised to see us.
"We did it. We reassembled ourselves." Izzy said.
"What?!" Apocalymon yelled in disbelief.
"You're dealing with the new and improved Digidestinds." Tai glared as we all stood together as one, preparing for the true final battle.
To be continued…
