Wow, my 20th chapter... THIS IS AWESOME!

Thanks to everyone who left me reviews, and in response to hylianprincessZ - thank you for the constructive criticism. I do not take any of it to heart! I strive to become a better writer and the criticism helps! ^.^ I will say that in Ch. 1 a lot of the siblings info is given at the beginning of the chap. The beginning isn't a summary it's an intro. to the two. I've based a lot of my writing based off of how my city and life are. I live in a small town in Oklahoma, and at 14 you can get a job easily here. You can get emancipated very early and have others live with you. Also the (fill ins I do like this) are just my style. Chapter 20: Removal

In front of my brother and I were the hardened corpses of our parents. I reached out to touch their stone bodies and pulled my hand back almost immediately.

"They're freezing!"

"Our father looks sad, Kags.." Souta was touching the hard face of our birth father.

"Because he realized what mother was going to do to him."

I averted my gaze to our mothers corpse. She had a ghastly smirk on her lips. She knew she was going to make our fathers eternity a living hell, a hell he could never escape from.

"You feel pity for your bastard father?" My mother snarled inside our minds.

"Yes, he didn't deserve to be trapped in the jewel! How could you do that to him?!" I yelled at my mothers corpse.

"He was going to kill me, Kagome! Does that mean nothing to you?"

"He had good reasons."

I shut her off from my mind. the more time I spent conversing with my mother, the more I realized how much I'd rather have my dad. Souta looked up at me from his position over the corpses.

"We'd better find the orb of mystical powers." Sarcasm; A fine trait that my brother had.

"Lead the way."

We began a thorough search of the cave. We searched for anything unusual or out of the ordinary. We split up for a good five minutes before reuniting back at the corpses.

"Find anything, Souta?"

"Just this stupid white rock." Just as he was about to throw the rock behind his shoulder it exploded in bursts of white light.

"Oh my gosh! Souta your horrible finding skills finally came in handy!"

"Wow, that's a real nice way to show me some gratitude!"

The orbs of light swirled around our bodies and shot into our veins.

"AGGGGHHH!" Souta and I fell to the rocky floor.

The pain was so immense that we couldn't stand. It felt like molten lava was being shot into our veins.

"IF THIS IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO SHOOT UP HEROIN, COUNT ME OUT!" Souta yelled over to my writhing body.

"SHUT UP!"

The light kept entering our bodies and the pain kept getting stronger. It felt like my body was melting and Souta was over there cracking jokes. His stupidity made my blood boil which caused the pain to increase. Then out of nowhere the light dissipated and the pain was gone as quick as it came. Souta dusted off his clothes and stood up.

"Well that sucked butt." He said nonchalantly as he helped me off the ground.

"We got what we came for, now lets get the hell outta here!"

We said a spiritual chant for our parents corpses to bless their souls and made our way to the exit.

"By the way... I stole the rock." Souta whispered as we walked into the sunlight.

"WHY?!"

Shippo escorted us back to the musty well and gave us a few more scrolls and herbs as a parting present.

"Come visit sometime?" He asked as we sat on the lip of the well.

"Of course, Shippo!" I gave him a hug. That fox was a keen fellow and I knew he'd be a great asset to have in mine and Souta's lives.

"See you around man! I'll drop some good food from the bakery down here every now and then alright?" Souta also gave him a hug.

"Thanks for the help!" I hollered to Shippo as my brother and I hopped into the well.

The blue light surrounded us again and we waited for our feet to hit the ground. All we had to do now was remove the jewel from our sides.

"My children." Midoriko appeared in front of us once again.

"What?" I rolled my eyes.

"You must remove the jewel fragments immediately."

"Wait, whoa! Fragments?" Souta cried out.

"Yes, fragments. Over time, the jewel divided within your bodies. You must get them out NOW. "

"We'll do it at home."

"There is NO time, Kagome! It must be done as soon as you exit the well! Your friends may assist you. However, I must warn you... it will be extremely painful. You mustn't stop the removal once it has started. Good luck!" And then she was gone again.

Our feet hit the ground and Souta looked over to me.

"Let's do this."

We crawled out of the depths of the well to find our friends waiting for us.

"Took you guys long enough!" Sango called out as she pulled me out of the well.

"What happened down there?" Inuyasha asked.

"We don't have time to explain! We need you to find an empty room or a closet! NOW!" I yelled out.

After maybe two minutes of checking for a clear closet to perform the spell, we found one. It was janitor Mina's closet from 2 years ago, and it hadn't been used since. I sat on the floor with Souta right in front of me.

"Alright, you guys can't stop chanting til the deed is done. Souta and I will be in excruciating amounts of pain but you must continue. If you stop, both of us die. Miroku, you'll have to erect a sound proof barrier so that no one will hear our screams. Everyone understand?"

Everyone nodded their heads in understanding. I gave Sango and Kohaku the scroll which they would recite the lines from. Inuyasha would hold us down while the spell was cast and Miroku would cast blessing upon us to help ease the pain while keeping the soundproof barrier erected.

"Here we go." Sango told us.

"KAN JI ZAI BO SA GYO JIN HAN-NYA HA RA MI TA JI
SHO KEN GO ON KAI KU DO IS-SAI KU YAKU "

The chant began and I felt a ripping sensation all through out my body.

"AGH!" I screamed.

It felt like the fragments were tearing through my limbs! I looked over to see Souta crying out in pain, nearly in tears.

*RIP*

Tearing flesh. Something tore through my flesh! I looked up and saw two shards shoot right out of my body and into a ball of pink light above me.

"OH GOD!"

"SHA RI SHI SHIKI FU I KU KU FU I SHIKI
SHIKI SOKU ZE KU KU SOKU ZE SHIKI
JU SO GYO SHIKI YAKU BU NYO ZE"

The more the chant continued the worse the pain was. I watched as Souta's mouth began spilling blood because of the internal bleeding the fragments were causing.

"KAGOME! WE HAVE TO STOP! THIS ISN'T WORTH IT!" Inuyasha screamed at me.

"NO! WE HAVE TO! OR WE DIE!"

"SHA RI SHI ZE SHO HO KU SO FU SHO FU METSU
FU KU FUJO FU ZO FU GEN
ZE KO KU CHU MU SHIKI MU JU SO GYO SHIKI
MU GEN-NI BI ZES-SHIN I
MU SHIKI SHO KO MI SOKU HO "

Souta and I were crying loudly, wishing for it to be over with. Inuyasha had one of my shoulders and one of Souta's in his hands.

"I'M SO SORRY!" Inuyasha yelled to me.

I cried more. and the tearing continued. I could feel my veins being torn apart and my insides turning to mush. My bonds were becoming brittle and I felt weak. Weak was a feeling I despised. I was supposed to be strong for Souta but here I was, crying over my pain when he experiencing the same one!

"MU GEN KAI NAI SHI MU I SHIKI KAI
MU MU MYO YAKU MU MU MYO JIN NAI SHI
MU RO SHI YAKU MU RO SHI JIN
MU KU SHU METSU DO
MU CHI YAKU MU TOKU I MU SHO TOK'-KO
BO DAI SAT-TA E HAN-NYA HA RA MI TA KO "

I pulled my aching, bloodied body over to my brothers and held his hand.

"Shhh, Souta. it's alright. Big sis is gonna protect you..." I whispered in agony to him.

"K-kagome... it.. hurts.." He coughed up more blood.

"SHIM-MU KEI GE MU KEI GE KO MU U KU FU
ON RI IS-SAI TEN DO MU SO KU GYO NE HAN
SAN ZE SHO BUTSU E HAN-NYA HA RA MI TA KO
TOKU A NOKU TA RA SAM-MYAKU SAM-BO DAI
KO CHI HAN-NYA HA RA MI TA "

I could feel the end of it nearing. Less and less shards were coming out now.

"Souta... it's almost o-over." I called to my brother.

There was only silence.

"ZE DAI JIN SHU ZE DAI MYO SHU
ZE MU JO SHU ZE MU TO TO SHU
NO JO IS-SAI KU SHIN JITSU FU KO
KO SETSU HAN-NYA HA RA MI TA SHU
SOKU SETSU SHU WATSU
GYA TEI GYA TEI HA RA GYA TEI HARA SO GYA TEI
BO JI SOWA KA HAN-NYA SHIN GYO"

Finally. It ended. No more. I tried to smile but found that I couldn't. I moved my eyes to look at Souta but his didn't meet mine.

"S-souta?" I called over to him.

His eyes were dark and his skin was a pasty white color. I tried to move my body, tried to get closer to my brother in an effort to rouse him but I could not move.

"No.. Souta..." My vision went black.

And then there was nothing.

Okay so I tried to make my 20th chappy a bit longer! ^.^ Hope you all enjoyed!

BTW JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT SHIPPO WILL MAKE MORE APPEARANCES
