Chapter 23: Battle
My father walked briskly thought the woods. It seemed as though he knew this place. Well, maybe he did I mean it's just a modernized version of Shikon Village.
"Where are we going?" I asked him curiously. We'd been walking for ten minutes without a single word being spoken from either part!
"Shikon Village. I know your mother. She took him there because that is where she is most powerful. We have to get your friends first, however." He told me as he took a sharp right. Through the woods I could make out Sango and Kohaku's home. I grabbed my fathers arm.
"We can't put them in this danger!" I began babbling to him, "They could get hurt or even die like Inuyasha! I don't want that! Plus mother says they can't even pass through the well!"
"Your mother is a lying bitch. Anyone can travel there as long as they're willing. Your friends are willing." I shook my head at his words, tears forming at the corners of my eyes. "We have to do this if we want to save Souta, Kagome."
That snapped me from my condolences. He was right. I had to risk everything for my baby brother. I nodded my head slowly in agreement. It didn't take long before I had Sango, Kohaku, Miroku, Rin, and Sesshomaru by my side in Miroku's living room.
I explained to all of them what had happened, starting with Inuyasha's murder which caused Rin to burst into tears and Sesshomaru to go bug eyed. I told them that my mother had murdered him and took the body and that she was now using Souta against me. they all agreed to accompany me to Shikon Village and fight alongside me. It didn't take long for everyone to be fully dressed in Sango's demon slayer outfits she kept stored away. We all had weapons at the ready and began our trek to the school.
We snuck in at midnight and proceeded to jump into the well one at a time. No janitors were in the school because it was a Saturday and no one came to school on Saturday's. The blue light surrounded all of us and we arrived at the other side in no time. Climbing out, my father led my friends and I to the place where he knew my mother was residing. It was her old cave in which she died.
"The cave is where she is strongest. We are going to have to battle with her there. She won't leave the area for a battle, she may be an evil bitch, but she is intelligent." My father spoke to us.
As we walked to the village we decided on a game plan. Kohaku, Miroku, and Rin would handle any excess fights that were happening. Sango and Sesshomaru would handle major threats that needed experienced fighters. Father would handle my mother and I... was left with Souta. We finished the plan and arrived at the run down Shikon Village to find Shippo waiting for us.
"Magatsuhi! Kagome!" Shippo bounded over to us.
"Are you willing to battle, young fox?" My father asked his old family friends grandchild.
"Of course! My grandfather and father spoke to me of this moment! The moment I would assist you, the great Magatsuhi!" Shippo ogled at my father and we were soon on our merry way to the cave of Midoriko. I was pretty volatile at the time. The thought of losing my friends and my brother frightened me to no end. I kept imagining having to kill Souta over and over in my head. My father put a large, calloused palm on my shoulder.
"You won't have to kill him, I promise." He whispered to me.
I smiled at his attempt to reassure me and continued to follow closely behind him. I knew I wasn't going to kill Souta, not because I wouldn't have to, but because I wouldn't. He was my younger brother and it was my duty as elder sister to protect him not kill him! I just wondered how this was all gong to turn out. Who would die? Would it be my mother? My father? Would Sesshomaru join his brother in the netherworld? Would Rin have to mourn two losses? Would Souta die and leave Kohaku and I all alone? Would Sango die, leaving me without a bestfriend? Would Miroku die and leave Sango to forever remain heartbroken? Would I die? That was the one that plagued me. Would I die? Would I be the one that kicked the bucket? I hoped not and tried to focus my attention on something else but that only lasted maybe two minutes because we were just arriving at the cave.
"Come to die, Magatsuhi?" My mother laughed out.
She emerged from the blackened cave with Souta by her side. She scanned our group a few times before she spoke again.
"So you brought the whole school? Ha, how cliche!" She laughed bitterly. "Well let us begin!"
Out from the depths of hell crawled a disgusting worm looking creature! It was slimy and reeked of many uncanny odors.
"What is that thing?!" Sango yelled out among the crowd of fighters.
"Kagomeeeeee" The overgrown worm cried out.
'NO!' My mind screamed out, 'IT CAN'T BE!'
The worm lifted its head to reveal the distorted face of my lover and Sesshomaru's brother.
"INUYASHA!" Rin yelled out.
It was his body combined onto the body of a worm. I began to sob uncontrollably. How could my mother do that to him?! He didn't deserve that! But what was even worse was when it rotated it's head completely around to reveal the backside.
"Mommyy.. Help me"
"KINA! NO!" I screamed out as her face was revealed on the worm.
My mother had not only killed my boyfriend and captured my brother, but now she killed my little girl?! I dropped to my knees in defeat and everyone made sounds of absolute horror. My father pulled me back to my feet.
"You have to fight, Kagome! You have to take them out of their misery! Don't let them suffer!" He urged me on.
I closed my eyes as I formed blue energy balls in my hands. My mother would pay for this. She would rot in the farthest pits of hell with no hope of seeing the sun ever again! I screamed out in frustration and began to fire blasts of my spiritual energy at the worm that consisted of two people I greatly cared for. I shot through it's middle and they howled in pain. But I knew I couldn't stop. It had to be done. I had to save their souls! I shot into them some more and tried blocking their screeches from my ears. I finally reached the head of the worm.
"I'm sorry.." I whispered as I shot an energy blast through the faces of my two loved ones.
"I...love...you.." They both said simultaneously.
"I LOVE YOU TOO!" I screamed out into the air as the worm began to turn to ash. "I love you too..."
"I didn't think you had it in you, Kagome-" My mother started.
"You...YOU SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH, WHORE!" I bellowed into the face of my mother.
"Fine," My mother released a horde of demons from the depths of her cave and sent them flying to us. "Souta, kill her."
"Yes master.." He spoke in an emotionless tone.
My father lept at my mother while everyone else attacked the demons. Souta stared into my eyes for a moment before he revealed the axe he held from behind his back. He shot me a sadistic smile and launched himself at me.
"Souta! Snap out of it!" I yelled into his face as I side-stepped his attack.
He didn't respond, only continued swinging. I miscalculated one of his attacks and he managed to slice a chunk of my left arm out. I cried out in pain and could have swore that a flash of guilt and sorrow appeared on his face.I knew I had to hold him off until my father could kill my mother, but who knew how long that would take? I silently pleaded for him to fight her off but I could not reach him. I eventually formed a spiritual staff and began blocking all of his attacks. Every now and then he would get a hit in on me and would use his real voice to try and guilt me into stopping but I held my ground.
My father was advancing on my mother and I hoped for it to all end soon. But the battle raged on. I kept having to ward Souta off and he just kept coming back no matter how much I'd knock him back.
"Man, I wish you were this persistent in real life!" I yelled out to my brother.
After twenty more minutes of battling, I was forced to transform my staff into a blade. If I didn't start harming him, he would kill me for sure!
"I don't wanna do this, Souta!"
But he didn't care, he just kept attacking. All that was going through his mind was my defeat and my mothers triumph as she stood on top of our graves, ruling the world with my brainwashed brother. Souta's attacks became more vicious. He was set more on spots that would instantly kill me if he struck me there, like my head or my jugular.
My mother let out a scream and I knew she'd been overcome. The only problem was that Souta was already in attack as he snapped out of his trance and the only way I could block the attack was to kill him first. I knew what I had to do. I dropped my blade and smiled into the face of my brother.
"I love you, Sou-" But it was too late.
Leaving it there! There will only be maybe one or two more chappysssss
What do you think happened?
