Chapter 7: The Calling…
Hattori sat on the opposite side of the couch where they lay Conan down, Conan suddenly started paling during their conversation, also muttering something like, 'I didn't mean to…' before losing conscious, Mayuki was sitting where Conan lay, thinking deeply,
'Jus' wha' in de world is wron' wid ya, Kudo…' Hattori thought, he looked at Mayuki, "Oi…" he called, Mayuki looked at him, "Wha' is wron' wid 'im?! Why did 'e pass out!" Hattori asked, threat surrounding his voice, Mayuki blinked,
"That secret is not for me to tell…only he has the right…" Mayuki replied, Hattori glared, Kaito looked at them, as he sipped his hot chocolate, also carefully moving, to not to reveal or do something not good to the blood packets that was connected to him, he really wanted to lighten up the mood by pulling a prank or two, but now was not a good time, because of three things,
'Third reason: If I wake up Tantei-kun, I'm good as a waking headless man…-Tantei-kun is a Shinigami, Descendant of a Demon God, Meister/Weapon, and a Ghoul Host after all-' Kaito shivered at the third option, and Conan's current condition, 'Second reason: To not to reveal I'm Kaitou KID, also…these blood packets will give away,' Kaito felt bad, he didn't like the second one, the third one was semi-okay, 'But the First, and main reason is; because Tantei-han is here…' Kaito thought, it really is the best concern, it could've been fine if it was only Tantei-kun and his said-so-called sister, and his other four freidns, just not the Osakan, who really can't keep his mouth shut, like even in public calling Conan, 'KUDO!' 'KUDO!' Kaito could now imagine, he and Aoko going out, and stumbling across Hattori, also bumping him in the process, knowing the Osakan sleuth he would most likely say something like this;
'Oi, watch wher' ye thin' yer goin'! Oh, it's jus' ya KID…' Kaito shivered, that is just plain sick, he tried to think like the Osakan, and that was the outcome, 'Wait, a minute, how did Tantei-han knew that Tantei-kun was here? And moreover that, he didn't ask about the heist, he would surely be curious, or he just forgot about the heist because of Tantei-kun's eye…' Kaito pondered, Hattori and Mayuki stared at him, the Elberit twins were now playing with some of Hakase's inventions as the said Hakase is now typing something on his computer, Makino chewing some of the cookies Haibara made, who is quietly reading a magazine on the other couches, silence loom over the room, even the video game the twins were playing were dead hill silent, the only you could hear were, Conan's silent labored breathing, the repeatedly tapping of Hattori's foot on the ground, Mayuki's silent humming, the Elbrit twin's silent tapping of fingers on the controllers, Makino's silent chomp, Hakase's fingers also tapping on the keyboard, Haibara's shuffling of turning the magazine page, and Kaito's sipping of his beverage, Hattori cleared his throat getting, Kaito, Haibara, Mayuki and Makino's attentions, as he decided to break the eerie silence,
"Anywa', I go' a real questio' an' problem 'ere aside from Kudo's eye…" Hattori started, everyone-whose attention were at him- stayed silent prompting him to continue, "One, is tha' you an' Kudo personally lef' me on de ship! Widou' a trace!" Hattori exclaimed pointing at Mayuki who shivered, since Conan teleported them to Hakase's it was clear they didn't use the emergency boat, and if they had they could've still be in sight, and the thief could have died, "Also, ye couldn' 'ave used de emergency boats cause dey wer' perfec'ly 'ine back at de cargo!" Hattori pointed out,
'Wow, he did some investigation before barging in here,' Mayuki sweatdropped at the thought,
"An' if both o' ya could've 'ave swam 'n de ocean 'n da middle of da night, I dun' thin' dat's possible…" Hattori added,
'How so?' Mayuki inwardly taunted though knew the answer,
"Ye couldn't 'ave, de water was pretty dam' col', an' eve' if Kudo would've wan' ta ge' back 'ere so badly 'e should've used one o' de emergency boats, bu' 'e didn't, 'e couldn' 'ave swam through de sea 'cause if 'e did so, 'e should 'ave a high feve' right now…"
'Nicely deduce!'
"An' I doubt dat 'is system could 'ave 'andle de freezing state of de sea, I also doubt dat ya could 'ave also survived, KID could 'ave len' both o' ye a 'and, bu' 'is glider ca' only 'andle on' load, an' if 'e brin's Kudo 'ere den der's no problem, as 'e now weighs less dan a kilo, in 'is shrunken state, but I also doubt dat KID woul' giv' ya a ride, so, 'ow 'n de worl' did both o' ye ge' off da ship widou' alertin' anyon'?!" Hattori asked, "Dere were no helicopter's passin' by ta giv' ye a chanc' ya could've planned a spee' boa' bu' dat is ou' o' optio' a' no one hear' a soun'…" Hattori immediately, cornering the very girl,
'Uwa! Stingy… he's giving it all…' Mayuki thought, "Well, you're a detective aren't you? Why don't you deduce how we did it?!" Mayuki smirked, Hattori's brow twitched a vein immediately popped on his forehead, sending daggers at the girl, then he transferred it to 'Kuroba Kaito' whom shivered,
"Also, dat wasn' de problem, KID didn' retu'n da jewel las' nigh' do ye know why?" Hattori asked, Mayuki, and Kaito inwardly paled, jawdropping and stared eye wide,
'Oh, right, I had both the fake and real one in my hands, I must've dropped the fake one…' Kaito thought,
'You mean, KID accidentally brought the real one?! And left the fake one instead?!' Mayuki pondered,
'This is NOT GOOD…' both thought at the same time,
"Wha' feelin' guilty KID?!" Hattori smirked, Kaito almost, almost broke and admit it when he noticed Hattori wasn't looking at him but at Mayuki, Mayuki blinked then pointed at herself, raising a brow, "Feel like givin' u' soon?!" Hattori smirked,
'Heheh…why am I sensing a déjà vu?' Mayuki inwardly laughed, "Are you saying I'm KID?!" Hattori nodded, 'Stupid, but interesting…hmm…If I recall correctly…' Mayuki smirked, much to Hattori's dismay, "Than explain how did I appear in front of everyone, when I, Conan and you were hiding in the crowd where KID couldn't see us, and I was with you when KID showed up, how do you explain that?" Mayuki smirked, Hattori's eyes widened,
"Uh-wha'….." Hattori was speechless, he stared at the ceiling, then it hit him, "Oh…" was his only response, then a chime broke through the room, everyone, including the twins, and Hakase but Conan who is still unconscious turned to the source, Kaito, the boy shivered, as he looked at his pants, he took out a blue Aquos phone (Sorry, to interrupt but I have no idea what and how Kaito's new phone looked like!)he looked at the caller, he flinched, but he answered it, before he could even utter a word, a voice screeched through the phone as if the phone was in speaker-mode, which is not,
"BAKAITO! WHERE ARE YOU AND WHY AREN'T YOU IN SCHOOL! YOU IDIOTIC MAGICIAN!" the said 'Bakaito' tried his best to distance himself from the phone, from the very angry girl on the other side who is like clawing his ears out,
"OI! AHOUKO! DON'T YOU SHOUT AT ME LIKE THAT! WERE YOU PLANNING TO MA-" Kaito tried to fight back but his sentence ended up into violent coughs as he covered his mouth in the process, Hattori raised a very doubting brow, while Mayuki mentally faceslapped as the thief forgot about his injury, Haibara glanced at him, Makino didn't care, as Hakase wanted to give him something, while the twins, never did a thing,
"O-oi…Kaito…you okay?" they all could hear a faint a concerned reply, while Kaito also inwardly thought,
'Good thing I didn't tell Tantei-han an alias…' Kait6o stopped coughing, but as he removed his hands from his mouth, in plain sight was a sickening scarlet-red liquid on his palm, he shivered, Hattori looked dumbfounded as he saw it, Kaito turned to Mayuki who nodded, he gulped before sliding the phone back to his ear, "Ahh…Gomen…Aoko…I'm at a friend's house right now, I visited them last night, and one of thm was very sick that I seem to have caught the same sickness…" he whispered, Hattori then sent Mayuki a 'You-better-explain-this- glare, who chuckled at the glare,
"I see…but be careful okay…" the girl on the other line continued, but Kaito was pretty sure that Aoko's really worried over him for his coughing fit earlier, though before Kaito could reply he heard muffled noises, that indicated someone took the phone from his child-hood friend, though now the others didn't hear it,
"Oh, didn't you just caught a cold because of last night's heist? Kuroba-kun?" came a mocking accented voice, that the thief hated to hear, especially now, he could imaging the smirk the sleuth is showing him, Akako gazing suspicious glares at him, that is if he were at the classroom, and not in Tantei-kun's friend's house, and Akako did warnhim about the heist last night about not going since something bad is bound to happen which he just shoved her off using the same response of 'I'm not KID' and whatnot as she also replied her usual reply, 'then, if you're not KID then just pass the message' or something like that,
"Huh?! If you want an alibi confirmation, you can ask her right now, Hakubaka…" Kaito said to the phone, as he also handed the phone to Mayuki whom accepted it, while he took out a handkerchief from his unstained hand and wiped the blood off,
"Hello? To whom am I speaking?" she asked, using no one's voice in particular and a tone of confused amusement, that made Hattori's brow twitch, also thinking,
'She's KID isn' she?'
"This is Kuroba Kaito's classmate, Hakuba Saguru, was Kuroba-kun in your residence last night and not in the KID heist? Also taking care of a sick friend, that he told me about," came the reply, of an annoyed Brit, Mayuki laughed,
"No…not last night…" she replied, Kaito sent her glares, as he imagined Hakuba's smirk, "He was here since afternoon! Taking care of my small charge who had a terrible fever, he wanted to go to the heist to watch his KID-sama but it seems he also caught the fever that I banned him from going!" Mayuki continued, as Kaito's eyes sparkled,
'Thank you! You are very kind!'
"And how were you able to stop him from doing that? Knowing he could've just used his tricks to get away…" came her second reply, Mayuki smirked,
"Well, first I used the 'Keep out' tape resistance, but since he broke out of it, I used a certain 'Fool Proof' tape to shut him up…" now her voice sounded real mischievous as she eyed Kaito with that smug look, making the thief shiver, knowing this favor wasn't for free, "and it's not a trick, it was magic…" Mayuki continued, Mayuki heard the Brit grunt, she smirked, 'Wait…why am I having fun of teasing him?' she inwardly thought, she was indeed a little and a bit or much out of character nowadays, she thought about it as she handed the phone back to Kaito, who took it as he gave her a confused glance before returning back to his call with a 'Believe me now?' annoyed speech, as he went to the back of the house talking and half-yelling at his caller, or whoever he is talking before it turned into teasing tones, Hattori wanted to spy what the boy was off to, but then he was more of, amused by the excuse Mayuki stated earlier,
"Oi, why'd ya say dat, eve' dough ya wer' a' de heist?" he asked though his question seemed to not to break her trail of thoughts, as she constantly raised a confused brow, it was when he imaging it, shorter hair, straight pointy cowlick, form her wavy one, then it came out, a vision of Kudo Shinichi, he blinked and blushed, shaking his head, "OI, WHY'DYA SAY DAT, EVE' DOUGH YE WER' A' DE HEIST YERSELF?!" he asked again louder this time, it was when she snapped back,
"Wha?" she looked very confused at the moment, that he did the same subtraction and addition, to her features, there came Conan's confused look,
"Wher' ye listenin'?" he asked as he shoved the thought away temporarily blushing, she thought about it for a moment, before she shook her head, and mouthed a cheerful 'no' Hattori wanted to claw his head off, also hers in the progress, but he restrained it instead, "A' I wa' sayin' why da 'ell did ya sa' dat, eve' dough ye wer' a' de heist yerself?!" he asked slowly losing his temper, she scratched her cheek momentarily before remembering something while smirking at him,
"For that…" she said slowly as he cocked an eyebrow, he hated that smug look now, then as if on cue, the door slammed open, and a hand of a certain someone gripped his earlobe between the person's fore, middle finger tips and thumb before the Osakan sleuth could even re-act to the very presence, as his ear was pulled to the person's face, and directly to the mouth,
"HEIJI! WHY'DYA 'ELL DID YE SUDDENLY LEAVE ME BEHIN'?!" the other Osakan screamed to his ear, before she noticed the bespectacled boy asleep on the couch, she let out an 'oh' before bowing to them, to Mayuki who nodded, still smirking, as she reverted her gaze to the sleuth, "Conan-kun's
'till asleep, an' I dun' wan' ye ta disturb de lad's sleep no' wher' goin' back to Osaka!" the girl, Kazuha said and half-yelled as she pulled her child-hood friend out of the residence, leaving her protesting friend to no-choice, his cries could still be heard as he was dragged out and as the door shut, Kaito who has now ended the call had a smug look on his face, Mayuki sighed in relief, as Conan who had been awoken by Hattori's yelling of questions sat up, and stared at his other self, then as if on cue, a pink smoke filled the living room making the people inside of it cough to the extent, the smoke cleared revealing Conan in a blue lacy dress, a black and white patterned socks and a pair of black shoes with a long blonde wig which ended by his knees tied into a high pigtails by a blue lacy ribbon, Mayuki in Teitan's high uniform, but in a boys uniform and her hair into Shinichi's, Haibara wearing a punky boy's clothing, jersey coat, blue shirt, blue sneakers, while her hair is tucked in a cap, Makino wearing a sugar-plum colored queen-like dress and a two-inched heeled pink sandals, her hair had been died into a plain gold-blonde tied into a beehive from the 1950's and 1960's, the twins remained in their gloth clothing and hairstyles only it was swapped into their opposites which is unnoticeable, but their eyes could be identified as Chiru's eye color were lighter than Chirou's, Hakase's suite was like a tattered suite of a mad scientist, all of this change of clothing which made Conan blushed madly, Mayuki blushing a bit, Chiru and Chirou obviously heaving a lust to kill as the scarlet fluid was floating by the back of their hands, Haibara and Makino uncaring as they continue what they had been doing Hakase confused and amused how the thief had done it without going near them,
"KAITO!" the twins, and Conan yelled at the same time, as the thief laughed at them, they just wanted to chase the thief but gave up on the thought as the tip of a blood packet was seen, Conan was again flushed in guilt, as Chiru took note of it, and sighed, Conan shook his head,
"Oi, damned thief get over here!" he commanded, as he took note that Hattori wasn't there anymore, Kaito shivered but did as told, Conan sent him death glares, as Mayuki took her seat, "Now…tell us…why did you do that?" Conan asked,
(Mouri Tantei Agency)
Ran looked out of the window, sighing she looked around, piled up in one corner were Maka and the others playing with cards,
"Ah! It's my win again!" Patty chirped as the others sweatdropped and sighed in defeat,
"Che… how are you so good at this?" Soul said annoyed, "And here I thought Maka would win…" he muttered, Maka glared at him,
"MA-KA…CHOP!" Soul ducked down with a huge 'glowing' and 'smoking' bump on his head, as Maka held a thick book on her right hand, Soul then started to quaver,
"JUST WHERE DO YOU KEEP THOSE BOOKS?!" Soul yelled at his partner,
"Just shut up and play the game…" Maka huffed, then they all resumed on playing the game,
"Say…you gu—" Ran started to look at them but stopped mid-track as they are all occupied by their game, as Kid wailed about the number 7 and 9 numbered cards for not being symmetrical, Ran swatdropped then approached them, "Say!" she says loudly though they didn't pay her any attention and just stared at the deck of cards in their palms, Ran sighed but continued anyways, "Is it really okay for Conan-kun to stay at Agasa-Hakase's place?" Ran asked,
"Yes, he'll be fine, in fact I also sent Makino there, and his 'sister' is there after all…" Maka said, Ran huffed,
"Really?" Ran added, Maka nodded,
"Also…Makino and Conan can summon both of their weapons, so they should be fin-" Maka's eyes widened, Ran raised a brow,
"Is something wrong?" Ran asked, but before Maka could reply, she stood up and dashed outside, as if realization just landed on her company they scrambled to their feet and followed their leader, which Ran sooned began to grow worried and followed, leaving the agency empty, well, almost, when the flushing to the toilet is heard and Kogorou went out of the bathroom, he looked around,
"Huh? Ran?" he muttered looking around,
(On the streets)
"Uh…What wrong?" Ran asked, also wondering whether she should ask or not, though she did not receive any answer, Ran didn't know where they were going or what they were doing, when they turned to a corner, there another 'Boogey man' is seen eating another one of the blueish orbs, Maka held out her hand as Sould turned into a scythe, then the others followed her lead, Ran just stood there frozen to her ground, she wanted to help, but she knew it'll only cause them hindrance, then before she knew it, the being made the same gush of wind that sent the meisters together with their weapons flying back, Ran's eyes widened, seeing as she is the only one standing, and as the being took her appearance.
"Human…" it growled,
(Hakase's Place)
Kaito just kept on shoving off on Conan's question who seemed fairly annoyed, Conan then glared at the thief,
"Fine, be it, but first change my clothing back…" Conan stated, Kaito sighed before another puff of pink smoke filled the room, coughing were heard again, now they were all in their normal clothing, Conan opened his mouth before he felt a bad feeling urge him, it wasn't a good sign at all, "Okay…now that's over…" he stopped again as another wave of uneasiness hit him, Kaito took note, no everyone did, Conan opened his mouth, before his breath hitched, his eyes widened, this wasn't good, now Mayuki looked at him seriously, she somehow also have a bad feeling herself, when a familiar pull is felt, her breath hitched, this really wasn't a good sign, every time this happened, it only meant one thing, HE/SHE was near, somewhere around the perimeter, before Chiru and Chirou stood up, taking their stances that caught everyone's attention,
"Oi, let's go…" Chiru stated, before Conan and Mayuki finally took note, Conan paled, as Makino immediately took note,
"Haibara, Hakase, KID stay here!" with that the Meisters, Weapons, and Ghouls scrambled out of the room, as the human's looked at the slowly closing door,
(Alley)
Ran started shaking in fear, despite she is now cursing herself, reminding herself that she is a freaking black belt karate champion! But her body wouldn't obey to her commands, she shut her eyes tight, the being was creeping up to her, she could hear the other's yell at her in the background, but she couldn't stay focus, the being approached her, before launching itself at her in full speed,
'SAVE ME!' Ran thought quickly,
"SHINICHI!"
