Chapter 18
Floor 13, Outside Sunken city, January 18, 2:17 pm.
After beating the boss of floor 9, the next week or so was not to bad. The pkers were being relatively quiet. We also cleared 10, 11, and 12. Floor 10 had a carnival house of mirrors thing going on. Floor 11 and 12 had creepy old mansion and creepy Cemetery theme going on. We are now on floor 13. It is an underwater floor that has this whole warring Fishman thing going for it. One faction of the fishmen are friendly npcs and the other side is not. The floor's only town, looks like a modern day city, but sunken under the ocean. Even wierder though that the water doesn't restrict are movements. Plus we can also breath underwater weirdly enough. The mobs are enemy fishmen and their fish pets. As for me I have ben training, Saya and I are now out fighting mobs.
"Saya to your left, a Fishman at 2 o'clock! " I yell as I slice a Fishman across the chest.
"Don't worry I got it!" As she slices one in half. " Just who do you think you are talking too?" She ask as she turns to left and slices the one I warned her about. She cuts it from the head down, slicing it in half long ways.
Another one comes from my left and manages to Stab me with the its' pitchfork. I notice the I am instantly frozen. My health also ticking down. " Saya a little help here, I think that I have been paralyzed."
"I'm coming my lady. I wont let you die." Saya quickly comes to my side and silces him in the back. One tries to attack Saya from behind, but Death dive bombs it. The attack kills it shattering it into a million pieces. Saya and I both get exp and couple of items. One of the items was called antidote. As my paralysis slowly wears off, I quickly drink the potion.
"Nice job Saya, let's go back to town." I put my scythe on my back and start walking to town. As she follows me i say. " Hey Saya, did you notice that the fishmen were useing some kinda poison? It looked like some kind of paralysis and health degeneration poison all in one. I wonder what it would take it make that poison."
"Probably some of the plants around here, do it. Maybe you should start gathering plants around here. I guarantee PoH and his lackes, will take advantage of it. So it would probably be a good idea to learn more about it."
"Yea you're right, PoH probably will use it to his advantage. Which is why I need to learn how to make it, so I can make a counter method . Saya do think the npcs would know what plant it is. "
"It won't hurt to ask I suppose, I mean you never know. " Saya says as we walk into town.
"Saya go ahead on to the inn, I will see you there at dinner."
"Okay, my lady be careful" Saya says as she starts leaving. I start walking towards where Agil had set up his shop. Yami comes running up, from behind.
"Hi Mistress, what are you up to?"
"Hi yami, I'm just going over to Agil's. Say where is your brother?"
"He is at our room at the inn sleeping."
"I see. Any pvper activity last night?"
"Nothing, and I don't like it . PoH and Rosalia are probably planning something?"
"You're probably right about that, Yami." Suddenly a box pops up that that say, " You have been challenge to a duel by Akuma."
"Mistress Mizore, what does that box say? "
"It's a duel request " I say as I decline it. The box pops up a second time, and once again I decline. The box comes up a third time. Now getting really annoyed , I start looking around yelling. "Okay, who keeps challenging me to duel?"
" I did, now accept it." A player wearing a dark brown robe and mask much like PoH, walk out from the crowd. The player's voice was kind of distorted making hard to tell their gender, their clothing didn't help either.
"So your name is Akuma. You're not with Poh are you?" I ask looking at the player.
"No, I'm not a senseless killer like him. I just kinda liked his look, it is kinda cool."
"Okay, so why do you want to fight me?"
"To prove, who is the the better Scythe user." Akuma pulls a scythe from behind her back.
" I see ok, I guess I will have little duel with you." I hit accept on the challenge box and pull out my scythe.
I hear people shouting and yelling as a crowd starts to form to watch. "Everyone look, Mizore the Reaper is gonna duel someone."
Akuma charges at me yelling " you will lose!" Akuma swings the scythe at me but, I blocked with mine. Death flies up into the air and hits Akuma with dive bomb attack. Akuma swats Death away and gives me a strange look. " You cheater leave that damn bird out of this! "She says as she slices death in the air, effectively damaging her.
I give Death a health potion as I say. "Death is my battle partner. If You fight me You also fight her .I activate my hidden skill, and turn invisible.I hear gasps and wows from the spectators, that probably didn't know about it.
" You know I can see you right Mizore the Reaper, " Akuma says.
"Wow impressive, you detection skill must be really high. I think you are the first person to detect me, while I'm hidden " I say as I deactivate the skill.
"Aww are you mad that someone saw though that stupid trick?" Akuma tries to attack me with an upward swing, but i block again. Akuma keeps trying to shift their weight and hit me, but i shift mine and stop the attack.
"No I'm just impressed, here let me tell you something. You can't just just swing endlessly, or you will die. A scythe is not a very effective weapon, unless you know what your doing. "
"Shut up!"
I let out small sigh, "fine don't listen." I pull out a paralysis potion dipped throwing pick. I give it to Death, who grabs it with her bill. "You know what to do my little buddy!" I start attacking Akuma as a distraction so death can her move. Even though Akuma saw it, i know my plan will work. I taunt my opponent " Hey you baka demon! I have seen 3 year olds fight better then you." Akuma swings at me in rage, then suddenly stops mid swing.
"What the hell why can't I move!" Akuma yells. Death flies out from behind Akuma and lands on my shoulder, the throwing pick still held in her bill. she spits the pick to the ground, as she lands.
"That damn bird again! What the hell did it do to me?" I point to the throwing needle on the ground.
"You goddamn cheater, useing paralysis like this!"
"Maybe so, but when you use a scythe, you leave your self open alot. You can't do that or you will die very quickly. You will always have the weakness, for as long as you use a scythe. I suggest you do what I did and get yourself a battle partner. It can really help in tight spots.." as my opponent's health reachs 30 percent, Akuma starts yelling.
" I said shut up, don't tell me what to do!" The paralysis starts to off as Akuma turn tail and runs Away " I will beat you next time I swear!"
As the crowd of people starts to scater, I hear them talking. Mainly saying stuff like..." wow the Reaper girl kicked ass. " Also..." Well that outcome was to be expected, she is a top player after all."
"Wow Mistress, that was impressive." Yami says.
"Yea, I guess so, they were easy. Akuma was just swinging aimlessly. But enough of that, what are you doing up?"
"I'm just selling all the stuff that kuro and I collected last night. Plus I need to pickup the weapons lisbeth was making for us."
"Mind if join you you?"
"Of course you can."
After Yami and I run our errands, I decide to go gather ingredients for that poison. " Yami I need to gather stuff for a new poison I'm working on. Do you want to join me?"
" Sure Mistress, I guess can for a little bit?" As I gather ingredients, I take samples of evey plant I find. when I think that I have enough, we head back to the inn.
"Thank you for your help Yami, it was fun hanging out with you."
"Yes Mistress, it was fun. We must do it again sometime." Yami pulls up her menu, and looks at her clock. " Damn it's almost seven! I need to go to the inn and get some sleep or else i might be falling asleep on night watch. Good night Mistress, see you later!" She stats to walk to the inn, but turns back and looks my way. "Oh I almost forgot, good night to you to Death! "
Death makes a few noises. "She says good night Yami and so do I."
I start back for the inn, when Death speaks. "Mistress Mizore, before we go home I need some food. "
