Hey look I finally uploaded something *eyeroll*
Lol I know. I suck. but hopefully I can spread this story's popularity on tumblr to help motivate me on making more chapters.
She opened her eyes to the view of mountains meeting the sky. Her father, mother, the ox, the swordsmith, the flea, and Byakko were all looking at her. "Whu- Hey! What's the rest of the story?" Moriko complained, feeling the need to distract herself from the awkwardness that was her family staring at her, who then looked away. It was strange, as if she'd just awoken from a vivid dream unexpectedly. Her mind grasped instinctively at the tendrils of the vision, wishing to know the end of it. But then it was wrenched away with a snap and she nearly pouted.
No Moriko. I kept watch over your body as I showed you my memory. You were showing signs of fatigue, so I stopped the memory.
He was right. She did feel tired all of a sudden. Was that why Inuyasha looks so anxious? It appeared as if he itched to approach her and Kagome had a worried look. Byakko, who must've appeared while she was dreaming, openly approached her and sat beside her. Eyes piercing like a hawk, Inuyasha watched the demon approach his daughter. Moriko rolled her eyes, but didn't look at Byakko, unsure if his proximity to her was something he desired or just something about his personality. Perhaps he lacked the understanding of human personal barriers, not that she was entirely human anymore.
"Kioku Setsuzoku is not something to take lightly. Only the most elite of demons are capable of this ability, which is why I included Byakko, since he was nearby." She then glanced at the mentioned demon, who looked at her in return, but it felt as though he was only paying attention to her grandfather's words, who then continued, "The only reason I was able to show you, Moriko, is because we are connected in this way-"
As the dead dog demon was speaking, Byakko sensed her fatigue as she fell to her side, nearly into his lap. He caught her and as he gathered her up to stand, he noticed her father had approached but halted at the tiger demon's actions. The hanyou's thoughts were loud and clear through his expressions. Confusion. Irritation. Cautiousness. Concern. Decidedly, Byakko crossed the remaining distance over to him and handed the girl into his arms, respectfully. With a nod of his head, the full demon turned and walked away, heading back towards the Goshinboku where Rikona remained.
Even with his superior abilities (only less than equivalent than Sesshomaru's due to their difference in age and experience), Byakko was confident in Inuyasha's skill and character and had come to respect him as an equal. After all, it seems he has bested his brother on multiple occasions, according to the scroll. Since sleep was not as often needed for him as it was for humans, he took to reading that scroll through the night, intrigued by the antics of this girl. He had concluded that he found her and her story interesting. Not to mention the presence of a legend has appeared within her soul. There is much that anyone would want to learn from a great general such as Inu no Taisho.
It's only logical for him to stick around. Inuyasha thought about the tiger demon long after he settled his daughter next to the twins. The longer he dwelled on it however, the more his anxiety rose. He couldn't go after his missing friends with his family and part of theirs to look after. It seemed like new things were popping up every hour when he was used to the peaceful life of spending his days with Kagome and occasionally slaying a lame demon. All of a sudden there was so much to do. He needed to do something about this soul-bond with Moriko and his father. He needed to go find Miroku, Sango, and Ichirou as well as that runt Shippo and go kick that fox demon's ass. He still didn't understand how it appeared out of nowhere, and how it managed to elude detection after fleeing. They had no leads. Only Naraku had seemed able to erect barriers that completely contained his scent and youki. Sesshomaru could hide his scent by pulling in his youki and concentrating it to cloak his body. That only hid his identity and not his power (which is enough to warn others to buzz off) but he could still be tracked. On top of all that which he knew nothing about, there was a youkai that was interested in his daughter. In what way, he did not know. At least the demon had some respect and honor unlike Hatake and some other stinking wolves he knew.
All he could do was sit and think, which irritated the hell out of him. His foot started tapping as he mulled over his thoughts. Eventually, something bonked his head, and he glanced at his irritated wife who had just thrown a ladle at his head. Hardly fazed at all, he was still irritated but stopped his movement. Eventually he stood up, bending down to give a chaste peck on her lips, then walked out, needing something to do. Even if it was pacing around the perimeter of the village thirty times. He would rather fight something that would actually be somewhat of a challenge. A real battle could get his mind off things for a while, but his brother wasn't here and as much as the thought of beating up this strange youkai that was drawn to his daughter entertained him, he wasn't about to lose an ally when it seemed something much bigger was going on here.
A shadow passed over him and he looked up to see Kirara land before him with Kohaku. "What happened here?" he asked.
Inuyasha groaned, "Long story. Look could you do me a favor and send a message to the bat-demon tribe's leader?"
"Sure, what do you need me to tell her?" It was clear that he was not pleased to be sent off again when he had only just arrived and without any of his questions answered.
Inuyasha relayed a few key details about the events that had occurred, mainly that his daughter's return had been the indirect cause of it all.
He ended with, "Tell Shiori to tell him to come home to meet his sister."
